Waldo Frisk
Waldo Frisk, age 71, a resident of Motley, MN, died May 21, 1999, at the Greater Staples Care Center.

Funeral services were held May 25, in the Staples Assembly of God Church, with Reverend Roy Miles officiating. Burial followed in the Motley Public Cemetery.

Waldo Clarence Frisk was born on September 26, 1927, in Swanville, MN, to Clarence and Helen (Johnson) Frisk. He grew up and attended school in Motley. On May 18, 1951, he married Carol Thomson. Later that month he entered the military where he served in the Korean War. Upon his return to central Minnesota, he went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad, where he worked for 30 years as a switchman. Throughout his working years he maintained an interest in farming, still raising some cattle until the time of his death. Following his retirement in 1987, he worked for the local Sales Barn. He was a member of the Staples Assembly of God Church and the Tri-County American Legion. He served on the Motley Fire Department from 1954 to 1984, and he volunteered as a Firearms Safety Instructor from 1956 until his death.

Survivors include his wife Carol; a son Brad Frisk of Pillager, MN; a daughter Brenda Collins of Brainerd, MN; a sister, Doris Cole of Motley; his brother, Don Frisk of Motley; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doug.

Jeffrey Keehr
Jeffrey Keehr, age 43, a resident of Sauk Rapids, MN, died May 21, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services were May 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids, MN, with Rev. Paul Cloeter officiating at the service and entombment will be in the Hilltop Mausoleum, Sauk Rapids.

Jeffery J. Keehr was born September 5, 1955, in St. Cloud to Lee A. and Dorothy (Boser) Keehr. He married Nancy Golembeski on April 19, 1975, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids. Jeff worked as a maintenance manager at X-Cel Optical Company in Sauk Rapids for 25 years. He had been an active member of the Sauk Rapids Volunteer Fire Department since October of 1982. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of Sauk Rapids; children and son-in-law Karen and Gary Ludwig, Katie and Tom all of Sauk Rapids; father Lee of Pierz, MN; mother Dorothy of Sauk Rapids; sisters, brother and their spouses, Shirley and David Roberts of Waconia, MN, Suzanne Keehr of Sauk Rapids, Allen and Jean Keehr of St. Cloud; and one granddaughter, Lexis Ludwig.

John Popp, Sr.
John Popp, Sr., age 87, a resident of Rice, MN, passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services were held May 24 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake with Rev. Francis Britz officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

John was born January 28, 1912, in Graham Township to Frank and Elizabeth (Keller) Popp. He married Luella Kubat on October 3, 1939, in Brennyville, MN. They lived and farmed in Little Rock until 1946, then moved to Rice where they farmed until 1970. He worked construction for 12 years at Lyle Huston Construction and Repair Company. He also worked at Green Thum for several years. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Mission Group, Rice Senior Citizens, and was a former member of the Rice Sportsman’s Club.

He is father and father-in-law to Kenneth Popp of Royalton, MN, Ronald and Debbie Popp of Pierz, MN, Gary and Audrey Popp of Sauk Rapids, MN, Jonie Klitzke and her companion Dave Jutz of St. Cloud, Karen and Roger Wolbeck of Rice, Terry Popp of Rice, Mary Jo and Gary Hagerman of Dewitt, MI, and John Jr. and Patty Popp of Rice; sisters, Helen Kubic of Minneapolis, Bernice Voller of Phoenix, AZ; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Luella on February 22, 1969; brothers, Anthony, Julius, Claudie, Peter, Clarence, Louis, and Leo; sisters, Irene Pekarek and Teck McGraw; an infant granddaughter, Brenda Lee Popp; and daughter-in-law, Marge Popp.

Dennis A. Reese
Dennis A. Reese, age 47, a resident of Rice, MN, died May 19, 1999, at Country Manor in Sartell, MN. There was no funeral service.

Dennis A. Reese was born on January 19, 1952, in Morris, MN, to the late Warren and Mary Lou (Haley) Reese. He lived in Morris, MN, Freedhem, MN and Rice. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1970. He was employed at the creameries in Freedhem and Rice and at Tri-City Paving in Little Falls. Due to his failing health, he became a resident of the Country Manor in Sartell on May 14, 1999, where he resided at the time of his death.

Survivors include his sisters, Judy Reese of Rice, Joan Williams and husband Ray of Randall, MN, Barbara Seelen of Little Falls, MN, and Nancy Jerde and husband Ron of Rice; and eight nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mary Lou (Haley) Reese; and brothers, David Reese and Richard Reese.

Richard Pollack
Richard “Dick” Pollack, age 66, a resident of Sullivan Lake, Morrison County, MN, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, died May 1, 1999, at his home on Sullivan Lake.

Memorial services were held May 5 at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN, with Rev. Suzanne Cekalla officiating. Burial will take place at a later time.

Richard was born February 20, 1933, in Minneapolis to the late Frank and Mary (Kulavic) Pollack. He grew up and attended school in Minneapolis, graduating from Edison High School. He was united in marriage to Jean Skillings in October 1952 at Andrews Presbyterian Church in Southeast Minneapolis. The couple resided in Minneapolis, where he worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years. Jean passed away June 16, 1972, and Richard continued living in Minneapolis until 1992 when he retired from the post office. Richard moved to Sullivan Lake in 1992 where he resided until his death. He was a member of the Lakes Area Lions Club and Harding Snowmobile Club. Richard enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, golfing with the wooden driver, tending his garden and working around the house.

Survivors include his daughters, Claudia Hollom and husband Bruce of LeSueur, MN, and Cynthia Widemann and husband Jeff of Coon Rapids, MN; brothers, Edward Pollack and wife Edith of Sullivan Lake and Theodore Pollack of Minneapolis; sisters, Delores Barshinski of Minneapolis and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jean in 1972 and brother, Floyd Pollack.

Norbert Junglen
Norbert Mathis Junglen, age 82, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Clarion, IA, died May 2, 1999, at St. Benedict’s Center in St. Cloud, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Norbert was born March 9, 1917, in Frazee, MN, to the late Casper and Mary (Prem) Junglen. His family moved to St. Cloud where he grew up. Norbert attended and graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud. Following his schooling, he worked for the Nash Finch Company. He entered the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He returned to St. Cloud and went to bakers school under the GI Bill. He was united in marriage to Delphine L. Hohmann on June 8, 1943. In 1950, the couple moved to Clarion where he worked with his brother-in-law in the bakery business. He later owned and operated several gas service stations in Clarion. In 1997, the couple moved to St. Cloud and, in 1998, to Little Falls. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls and was a 4th Degree Knight. Norbert enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, bowling, the Lions Club and other civic organizations he was involved in while living in Clarion.

Survivors include his wife, Delphine; daughters, Mary Uhlhorn and Susan Junglen, both of Little Falls; grandchildren, Joe Uhlhorn of Little Falls and Beth Uhlhorn of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Marcell “Marc” and wife Martha of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; sisters, Dorothy Froyen of Clarion, Eleanor Schoenecker of Cold Spring, MN, Margaret St. Aubin of Minneapolis, Donna Eickhoff of St. Cloud and Bernyce Johnson and husband Dewey of Austin, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, William, Bernard and Albert Junglen; sisters, Clothilda Schoener, Elizabeth Monrean, Irene Sweet and an infant sister, Clothilda Elizabeth and a son-in-law, Howard Uhlhorn in 1998.
Casketbearers were John Gohman, Robert Pikus, Rick Baron, Dick Wieber, Michael Schoenecker, Ton St. Aubin and Mike St. Aubin.

Leslie Rahn
Leslie Rahn, age 65, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died May 2, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held May 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN, with Father Harold Kost officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Hearth Catholic Cemetery in Flensburg, MN.

Leslie was born April 21, 1934, to Ervin and Alice (Ptacek) Rahn in Minneapolis, MN. He lived in Litchfield, MN, Darwin, MN, and Annandale, MN. Leslie was united in marriage to Carol Bakken in Annandale on November 3, 1956. Following the marriage, they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Leslie worked as a bricklayer and also in maintenance at Texaco. In 1968, they moved to Flensburg where they farmed. Leslie loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting. He also loved to bowl.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Rahn of Little Falls; sons, Craig Rahn of Cushing, MN, and Douglas Rahn and wife Jeanette, also of Cushing; sisters, Maxine Gerdts of Hopkins, MN, and Ruth Ann Haismann of Des Plaines, IL, and grandchildren Brenda, Nicole, Sam, Marshall and Eason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean in 1977 and grandchildren, Jimmy and Amanda.

Casketbearers were Pat Kalahar, George Rhoe, Darrell Strecker, Tom Dearing, Jimmy Zupko and Daniel Gerdts.

Florence Dickson
Florence “Dixie” Alice Dickson, age 85, a resident of Fosston, MN, formerly of Royalton, MN, died May 3, 1999, at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Funeral services were held May 6 at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston, with the Rev. Martin Horn and Rev. Bob Koepp officiating. Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.

Florence was born October 2, 1913, in Bellevue Township, rural Little Falls, MN, to parents Richie and Mary (Edeburn) Dickson. She grew up near Royalton and graduated from Royalton High School in 1932. In 1934, she moved to Minneapolis and while there attended the Lutheran Bible Institute for two and one-half years. From 1941 to 1959, Florence worked as a missionary in La Paz, Bolivia, and South America with the World Mission Prayer League (WMPL). Dixie served the WMPL in a multitude of ways: initially, she joined the home staff’s mailing department; she also served as a practical nurse at Methodist Mission Hospital in La Paz, orphanage director, bookstore manager, housekeeping director, a mission home hostess and was always a steady hand of support. She returned to Minneapolis in November of 1959 and worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital until July of 1964. Dixie returned to Bolivia in 1965 and remained there until 1969 when she came back to Minneapolis and worked in the office of the WMPL until her retirement in 1978. She had made her home in Fosston since that time. She was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston.

Survivors include one brother, Willson Dickson and wife Phyllis of Sandstone, MN; brother-in-law, Key Kahl of rural Fosston; sisters-in-law, Doris Dickson of Royalton and Wanda Dickson of St. Cloud, MN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John, Wallace, Robert, Arlo and Donald and three sisters, Jessie Rohl, Bertha Zelenka and Beatrice Kahl.
