Donald Schreiber
Donald Schreiber, age 78, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died May 5, 1999, at his residence.

Mass of Christian Burial was held May 10 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Athamase O.S.B. officiating and Father Leroy Kremer concelebrating. Burial was at Our Lady of Lourdes parish cemetery. Military rites were provided by Little Falls American Legion Post 46 and Little Falls VFW Post 1112.

Donald was born on September 18, 1920, to Julius and Pauline (Zurowski) Schreiber in Little Falls. He graduated from Little Falls High School. Donald served three years in the United States Navy, being honorable discharged in 1946. He worked for many years alongside his father, Julius, in their “pool hall” which was located on the west side of Little Falls. Donald loved sports and for a short while, he could be seen on the mound pitching for a Little Falls baseball team. Donald was united in marriage to Geneva Fuchs on July 7, 1962, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was employed at St. Gabriel’s Hospital as storeroom manager until his retirement in 1982. Donald was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 1112 and also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He will always be remembered for his strong determination to conquer any health problem he faced, keeping his strong faith, and devotion to his wonderful wife “Gen.”

Survivors include his wife, Gen, of Little Falls; sisters, Bernadine Motsko of Little Falls and Joanne Casey of New Hope, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Schreiber.

Casketbearers were Dan Kalis, David Motsko, Dennis Schreiber, Adam Czech, Jason Asselin and Kenneth Schriber.

William Litke
William “Bill” Litke, age 81, a resident of Harding, MN, died May 2, 1999, at his residence in Harding.

Mass of Christian Burial was May 5 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

William was born January 21, 1918, to Flaudy and Catherine (Kachmarzinski) Litke in Genola, MN. William was united in marriage to Caroline Pulak on November 25, 1943, in Harding. He farmed in the Harding area all his life. He was a caretaker for Holy Cross Cemetery in Harding. William enjoyed his children, grandchildren, baseball, ice fishing, horseshoe throwing and deer hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline Litke of Harding; sons, Robert Litke and wife Elaine of Burnsville, MN, Daniel Litke and wife Elaine of Onamia, MN, and Charles Litke and wife Ann of Maple Grove, MN; daughter, Kate Krych and husband Lonny of Harding; brothers, Leo Litke of Harding and John Litke of Pierz, MN; sister, Alice Isle of Brainerd, MN, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roger; brother, Alfred and sisters, Rose Solinger, Clara Otten and Helen Moser.

Casketbearers were Pete Hoheisel, Wes Young, Roy Knopik, Larry Litke, Roger Pulak and Paul Solinger.

James Angevine
James Angevine, age 32, a resident of Menomonie, WI, died May 7, 1999, at his residence in Menomonie.

Mass of Christian Burial was held May 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie, MN, with Father Silverius Schmitt officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

James was born July 11, 1966, to Woodrow and Mary (Spaulding) Angevine in St. Paul, MN. He began working in the bakery business as a teen at Pete & Joy’s Bakery in Little Falls and continued on in various ends of the business all his brief life. James owned and operated his own bakery at Winthrop, MN, and recently was manager at Leever’s Foods in Menomonie. James was united in marriage to Laurie Geise on July 28, 1990, in North Prairie. His hobbies included fishing, camping and being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie of Menonomie; daughters, Nicole, Ashley and Samantha, all of Menomonie; parents, Woodrow and Mary Angevine of Little Falls; step-mother, Dorithy Angevine of Little Falls; brothers, Raymond Angevine of Little Falls, Robert Angevine of Anchorage, AL, and Shawn Angevine of Little Falls; sisters, Patricia Lenhart and husband Scott of Auburn, WA, and Virginia Bundy and husband Mark of Elk River, MN; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Lucielle Geise of Bowlus, MN; stepbrothers, Jamie Kunkel of Little Falls and Scott Kunkel and wife Jane of Little Falls; stepsister, Jodi Kunkel of Silver Bay, MN; brothers-in-law, Dennis and Duane Geise of Rice, MN; and Darrell, Doug and Donny Geise of Bowlus; and sisters-in-law, Linda Dubbin and husband Al of Holdingford, MN; and Lisa, Lois, LeeAnn and Jane Geise of Bowlus.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Barnes, and Grandfather and Grandmother Spaulding.

Casketbearers were Raymond Angevine, Shawn Angevine, Jamie Kunkel, Duane Geise, Dennis Geise and Al Dubbin.

James Anderson
James Richard Anderson, age 74, a resident of Pine City, MN, and formerly of Little Falls, MN, died May 9, 1999, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 12, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, with Rev. Al Stang officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

James was born May 5, 1925, in Waseca, MN, to the late Alfred and Helen (Strand) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Waseca. James enlisted in the United States Navy on March 15, 1943, and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1946. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Christle on February 18, 1952, in Waseca, MN. The couple lived in Waseca from 1952 until moving to Little Falls in 1958. James worked at Hennepin Paper Mill from 1958 until 1975. The couple moved to Waseca in 1975 where James worked as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. Lorraine passed away August 1, 1998. James moved to Fergus Falls on August of 1998 where he resided until his death. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, Alcoholics Anonymous and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Szczodroski and husband, Don of Little Falls; Gerry Adolph and husband, Barth of Summit, S.D.; brother, Leonard Anderson and wife, Anita of Park Rapids, MN; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lorraine.

Lester Rach
Lester Glenn Rach, age 66, a lifetime resident of rural Bertha, MN, died May 7, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Bertha on May 10 with the Rev. Curtis Foreman officiating. He was buried in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of Bartlett Township.

Lester Rach was born January 5, 1933, in Bartlett Township, Todd County, to Reinhardt and Lydia (Grewe) Rach. He was united in marriage to Glenda Weenike in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bartlett, on October 5, 1958. He served in the 10th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed farming, sports, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Glenda, son Jeff (Roberta) of Belgrade; daughters, Kim (Robin) Holt of Albany and Nedda (Dan) Zetah of Long Prairie; six grandchildren; brothers, Ernie (Bernice) of Bertha, Orville (Joyce) of Hewitt, Reinhardt (Lucille) of Wadena; and sister, Sylvia (Alvin) Zacharias of Wadena.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhardt and Lydia; brothers, Walter, Melvin, Norman, Harry and Lawrence (twin brother) and sister, Eleanora Gaugert.

Pallbearers were Jeff Rach, Robin Holt, Dan Zetah, Jeff Infelise, Brad Rach and Paul Rach.

Clarence V. Leikvoll
Clarence V. Leikvoll, age 75, a resident of Little Falls, died May 11, 1999, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held May 13 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Steven Anderson of Grace Covenant Church officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.

Clarence V. Leikvoll was born November 5, 1923, in Little Falls, MN, to the late Sven and Olga ‘Petersen’ Leikvoll. He grew up and attended school in Little Falls. He worked as a mechanic in Minneapolis for two years. Clarence was united in marriage to Verna J. LaLonde on July 3, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN. The couple returned to Little Falls where Clarence continued to work as a mechanic. He operated the Pure Oil Gas Station, then a Texaco Gas Station in Little Falls. He owned and operated the Sinclair Gas Station just South of Little Falls for over 20 years until retiring in 1986. He also served the area as the AAA (American Automobile Association) service manager for many years. Clarence enjoyed men’s and mixed league bowling, fishing, playing cards, dancing and playing his guitar and harmonica.

Survivors include his wife Verna of Little Falls; son Dennis Leikvoll of Ramsey, MN; daughters Karen Newcomb and husband Les of Little Falls and Bonnie Krueger and husband Gary of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Reynold Leikvoll of Little Falls; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roland Leikvoll; sisters, Edna Gardner, Margaret Broberg and Florence Hoskins.

Pallbearers were Rod Newcomb, Scott and Mike Leikvoll, Ryan and Chris Krueger and Mike Rustad.

Theresa Gerads
Theresa Gerads, age 92, a resident of Albany, MN, died May 11, 1999, at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany.

Funeral services were held May 15 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Burial was at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in St. Francis, MN.

Theresa was born in St. Rosa, MN, to John and Margaret (Brix) Muellner. She married John Gerads on May 18, 1931, at St. Rosa. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany and a member of the Upsala Christian Mothers. She farmed with her husband near Upsala, MN, until his death in 1950. She moved to Little Falls, MN, 1956 and worked at the Pine Edge Inn and St. Gabriel’s Hospital until she retired in 1969 and moved to Grey Eagle, MN. She moved to Albany in 1989.

Survivors include children, Margaret Ostendorf of Albany; Mary Brooks of Park Rapids, MN; Erma Anderson of Rochester, MN; Monica Gores of Mainz, Germany; Lawrence of Sauk Rapids, MN; and Tony of St. Cloud, MN; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and brothers, Alfred of Grey Eagle and Ambrose of St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died October 16, 1950; three brothers, Anton, Adolph and John, and one sister, Margaret.
