Dr. Jose A. Ayson, 72

Dr. Jose A. Ayson, a resident of Visalia, Calif., died Aug. 11, 2010, in Visalia.

A funeral mass was held Aug. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Condolences may be e-mailed to salseranddillard@aol.com.

Dr. Ayson was born Oct. 9, 1937, in Santa Maria, Philippines, to Eliseo and Carmen Ayson. At the young age of 22, he graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Philipines as a Doctor of Medicine. He worked as the company physician for Mining Company, Philippines before pursuing his internship at St. Lukes Hospital in St. Paul. Dr. Ayson finished his residency at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. In 1975, Dr. Ayson married the love of his life (Daisy Horrilleno Ayson) and together settled in Little Falls, where they started their family while opening his own practice. The Aysons later moved to Visalia, Calif., in 1985. Dr. Ayson worked as a physician for Tulare County Health Center at Lindsay for many years before retiring in 1996. He then worked at North Kern State Prison until 2008, retiring as Chief Physician and Surgeon. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He will be best remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and dear friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Daisy Ayson of Visalia; two sons Michael and Omar Ayson of Clovis, Calif.; a daughter Kristine Caldwell and husband Chad of Westpoint, N.Y.; a brother Amado Ayson of Philipines; three sisters, Teresa Baldonado and Asuncion Espiritu of Philipines; Gloria Bravo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; mother Carmen Andrion Ayson of Visalia.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marina Catarina and Fatima Ayson; and father, Eliseo Ayson.

Theresa Posterick, 81

Theresa Posterick, a resident of Randall, died Aug. 20, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by her husband and children.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, with Fr. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Theresa was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, to the late John M. and Veronica (Rutz) Hlad. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Alfred Posterick Nov. 5, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. Theresa lived and worked with her husband on their farm near Flensburg until her passing. Farming and caring for her family truly fit her as she loved to work hard and did so without complaining. She also enjoyed gardening, visiting with family and friends, traveling and playing cards.

Theresa is survived by her husband Alfred Posterick; children Darwin (Janel) Posterick of Little Falls, Lyle (Juli) Posterick of Little Falls, Curt (Linda) Posterick of Little Falls and Audrey (Joe) Kuchinski of Little Falls; sisters Lucille Posterick of Little Falls and Dorothy Yanta of Maple Grove; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents John M. and Veronica Hlad.

Beverly Deterding, 75

Beverly Rae Deterding, a resident of Morton, Ill., died at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at her home. She was a former resident of Little Falls.

A celebration of life service was held Saturday, Aug. 28, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton, with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating. Cremation will be accorded.

Beverly was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Kansas, Ill., to Charles Frederick and Velma Daisy (Carnine) Schneider. She married Walter C. Deterding Aug. 2, 1958, in Grandview, Ill. She received her bachelor’s degree in home economics education from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1957, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Beverly taught home economics at Morton High School from 1957 - 1959, and later taught preschool at Bethel Lutheran School in Morton for 20 years, retiring in 1986. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Christian Women’s Club. While living in Little Falls, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Homemakers Club, Merry Munchers and Christian Women’s Club.

Surviving are her husband, Walter, of Morton; two sons Mark (Kim) Deterding of Alexandria and Roger (Kelly) Deterding of Blue Mounds, Wis.; one daughter Rita (Rob) Strickler of Peru, Ill.; nine grandchildren, David and Dan Deterding, Elizabeth, Erin and Kathryn Deterding, Andy, Zach, Chelsey and Alex Strickler; one brother, Albert Schneider (Dianne Duzan) of Kansas, Ill., and one sister Joanne (Jim) Getty of Gettysburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Clarice A. Welle, 94

Clarice A. Welle, a resident of Little Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010 at the St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls.

Clarice was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Belle Prairie Township, Morrison County, to the late Paul and Marie Doucette. She grew up in Ripley Township and attended country school there. Clarice was united in marriage to Ted Dugas Nov. 26, 1935, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie Township. The couple lived in Superior, Wis., during World War II. They later relocated to Minneapolis, where Clarice worked at Dayton’s Clothing Store. In 1960, they moved back to Little Falls and Clarice worked at Loretta’s Clothiers for 23 years until she retired in 1983. Clarice was united in marriage to Herman Welle July 30, 1988, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. Clarice was a resident at Alverna Apartments in Little Falls and later became a full-time resident at St. Otto’s Care Center in 2004. Clarice was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church as well as a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing and going on beautiful trips. Clarice was also a big Minnesota Twins fan, watching them play as often as she could. She loved and enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Clarice was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, are preferred.

Clarice is survived by her daughters Phyllis Hoffman of Waite Park and Betty (Don) Braun of Moorhead; stepdaughter Mary Welle of Little Falls; brothers, Larry (Delores) Houle of Little Falls and Wally (Anne) Houle of Clearwater; sister Lucille Rakow of Little Falls; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Marie Doucette; husbands Ted Dugas and Herman Welle; grandson Greg Koenig; stepson Mike Welle; and sister and Irene Fogel.

Robert Hommes, 86

Robert Francis Hommes, a resident of Upsala, formerly of Robbinsdale, and Crystal, passed away peacefully at home with his family, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Private interment was with the immediate family. No local services are planned at this time.

Robert was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Robbinsdale, to the late Peter and Anna (Moonen) Hommes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during WWII and a member of the American Legion. He was proud of his 60-year membership of the Carpenter’s Union. An avid woodworker, he shared his work with his extended family and friends. He loved the outdoors and was an active hunter and fisherman throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan; daughters Nancy (Michael) Steidle of Santa Fe, N.M., and Susan Duoblys of Des Moines, Iowa; sons Peter (Diane) of Circle Pines, Paul (Marlys) of Big Lake and Gary (Jodi) of Plymouth; sister Genevieve (Louis) Pietzrak of Minneapolis; and 14 grandchildren.

Memorials preferred to St. Cloud Hospital Hospice.

Martha Hoheisel, 93

Martha Hoheisel, a resident of Pierz, died Aug. 21, 2010, at the Pierz Villa in Pierz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.

Martha was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Casselton, N.D. to the late Frank and Ernestine Heinz. She grew up in North Dakota and survived polio as a young child. Martha was united in marriage to Leo P. Hoheisel June 28, 1939, in Jesse, N.D. The couple relocated to Pierz in 1939, to own and operate the Sinclair Gas Station in Pierz. Martha and Leo operated the gas station until they retired in 1983. For 23 years, Martha cleaned the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Pierz. She loved to sing to her children and was an excellent cook and baker. Martha enjoyed playing cards as well as bingo as a pastime. She had a wonderful gift of visiting and conversing with family and friends. Martha was also very dedicated to journaling, scrapbooking, and documenting the daily activities of Central Minnesota. She had a passion for going on trips both near and far. Most of all Martha loved spending time and being involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz and a member of the St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers. Martha was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Martha is survived by sons Pete (Debby) Hoheisel of Pierz, Joe Hoheisel of Pierz, and Jack (Lori) Hoheisel of Pierz; daughters Janice (Tony) Kahlhamer of Pierz, Beverly (Dennis) Kelzenberg of St. Cloud, Patricia (Dennis) Seelen of Pierz and Carol (Tom) Wiley of Elk River; daughter-in-law Burnie Poxleitner of Pierz; siblings Frank (Arlene) Heinz, Dorothy Becherl and Mary Helen Ressler, all of Cooperstown, N.D.; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by husband, Leo Hoheisel Jan. 28, 1985; parents Frank and Ernestine Heinz; son Roger Hoheisel; great-grandson Alex Falck; brother Richard Heinz; and sister Elsie Fieberger.

Fred S. Duke, 84

Fred S. Duke, a resident of Little Falls, died Oct. 6, 2010, at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Military honors will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46.

Frederick S. Duke was born July 29, 1926, in St. Paul, to the late Frederick and Georgina Duke. He grew up in Pierz, being raised on Pierz Fish Lake. Fred enlisted into the U.S. Navy Dec. 17, 1946, and proudly served his country for six years. He was honorably discharged April 16, 1946. Fred was united in marriage to Betty Jean McVey Oct. 24, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio. The couple returned to the Little Falls area in 1949, when Fred went to work for Crestliner Boats in Little Falls. Fred worked at Crestliner for 30 years as a truck driver and later retired from School District #742 were he worked as a maintenance engineer. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Fred will be remembered for always having and telling a good joke. He was very conservative in nature but very generous at heart. Fred also loved to enjoy a good chocolate malt from time to time. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and by the wonderful nursing staff at the VA Hospital in Building 50 whom the family greatly appreciates.

Fred is survived by son, Fred D. (Carol) Duke of Burtrum.

Fred was preceded in death by wife, Betty Jean Duke; parents, Frederick and Georgina; and grandson, Frederick Sean Duke.
