Henry Dick

Henry Dick, 91, of Munich, N.D., died April 9, 1999, at his home.

Services were held Monday at the Salem Mennonite Church in Munich, N.D., with Pastor Leslie Dick officiating.

Pallbearers were Jason Huebert, Bruce Dick, Bryan Dick, Mike Dick, Mark Hoffman, Scott Guthrie, Greg Friesen, Larry Becker, Robb Nachtigal and Scott Hinz.

Interment was at East Salem Cemetery in Munich.

Henry F. Dick, son of Henry and Lena (Fast) Dick, was born June 24, 1907, in Henderson Township, Cavalier County, Munich. He grew up there and attended Henderson Township School. He later started farming the family farm which he operated through the years.

He married Linda Sawatzky in 1929. They established their home on his farm in Munich. Linda died in 1986.

In 1960, he started Dicks’ Seed Farm.

He was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church, serving on the church board, choir and male chorus director and district secretary of the Mennonite Aid Insurance. He was in charge of building the Salem Mennonite Church Sunday school addition and he was the treasurer for the Henderson Township.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his daughters, Gladys (Herb) Hoffman of Munich; Jacqueline (Allen) Huebert of Westwood, Kan.; sons, Gerald (Lois) Dick of Munich; and Marvin (Verla) Dick of Munich; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Hoffman of Munich, N.D.

Peter Mohlman

Peter Mohlman, 89, died March 27, 1999, at Pine Medical Health Care Center in Sandstone.

Services were held April 7 at Peace Lutheran Church in Finlayson with the Rev. Matthew Vrudny officiating.

Special music was provided by Veloren Osladil, organist.

Pallbearers were Robert Stenke, Joe Koenig, Curt Muller, Robert Beehler, Mike Koenig, Donald Schmidt and Elwyn Muller.

Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Peter Fredreck Mohlman, son of Peter and Julia (Mueller) Mohlman, was born April 4, 1909, in Mt. Lake. He grew up and attended rural school near Mt. Lake.

Peter spent his life working as a carpenter and as a bellhop at a hotel in Sioux Falls, S.D. He also served in the Army during World War II.

For may years he played Santa Claus at Christmas delivering candy and gifts to needy children near his home.

Since 1997, he had been a resident of Pine Medical Health Care Center in Sandstone.

Anne Lepp

Anne Lepp, 91, of Butterfield died April 25, 1999, at the Trimont Nursing Home in Trimont.

Services were held today (Wednesday) at the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake with the Rev. Raymond Reimer officiating.

Special music was provided by Lila Neufeld, organist.

Pallbearers were Connie Christensen, Corwyn Lepp, Jason Lepp, Mark Lepp, Michael Lepp, Michelle Lepp, Rodney Lepp, Ryan Lepp and Shawn Lepp.

Interment was at Mt. Lake Cemetery.

Anne Henrietta Friesen, daughter of Cornelius and Susanna (Sawatzky) Friesen was born May 12, 1907, in Butterfield Township, Watonwan County. She received her education in country schools and some high school in North Dakota. Anne was baptized in 1922, at Lostwood, N.D.

In 1927, Anne married Peter Lepp. They made their home and farmed together near Lostwood until 1937, when they moved to a farm north of Butterfield. They farmed until they retired and moved into Butterfield in 1973.

Anne worked for the St. James Greenhouse for 17 years.

Peter died in 1988. Anne was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, the Oak Leaf Mission Society and the Butterfield Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Ted, Cornelius and Jacob Friesen.

Survivors include her three sons, Richard (Jean) Lepp of St. James; James (Donna) Lepp of Butterfield; and Colin (Lois) Lepp of Dodge Center; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Friesen of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Susan Enns of Stanley, N.D.; and Mary Lou (Harold) Knickrehm of St. James.

Mary Goertzen

Mary Goertzen, of Lancaster, Pa., wife of the late Clayton Goertzen of Windom, died April 6, 1999.

Services were held in the chapel of the Mennonite Nursing home in Lancaster with the Rev. Marvin Wall officiating.

Interment was at Milwaukee Cemetery near Clarks Summit, Pa.

Mary duBisson was born Dec. 31, 1929, near Collingswood, N. J. She attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill. She taught elementary education for several years.

She married Clayton Goertzen of Windom in 1956. They lived in the Philadelphia area until 1958 when they moved to Hesston, Kan., where they pastored the Garden Township Church until 1962.

Later they moved to Barrington, N. J. where Mary was a homemaker and mother and Clayton started teaching. Clayton died in 1993.

In 1997 she entered the Mennonite Nursing Home in Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton, and 10-year-old son, Jimmy.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean (Julian) Evans of Clark Summit, Pa., and Joy (Bill) McRae of Barrington, N. J.; one son, John, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and four grandchildren.

Willie Schmidt

Willie Schmidt, 83, of Cottage Grove, Ore., died April 1, 1999, at Cottage Grove, Ore.

Services were held April 9 at Lakeview Gospel Church in Mt. Lake with the Rev. Eldon Classen officiating.

Special music was provided by Lillian Klassen, organist, and Joann Classen and Shirley Munderloh, vocalists.

Honorary pallbearers were Renae Tiopan, Jason Moore, Craig Tiopan, William McCoy, Amie Greene and Russell Nesbitt.

Willie G. Schmidt was born May 24, 1915, in Marion S.D., to George A. and Margaretha Schmidt. Willie moved with his family to Mt. Lake in 1917.

He married Hilda Pankratz at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake in 1940.

The couple moved to Kelsey in 1941, and Willie farmed, logged and worked for the railroad. In 1976, the Schmidts retired to Thatcher, Ariz. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1996.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Schmidt; a daughter, Dorothea Greene; a grandson, James Edward Martin and four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda, of Cottage Grove, Ore.; a daughter, Verlean (William) McCoy of Creswell, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
