Lineea Johnson
Services for Linnea Johnson, 93, of St. James, formerly of rural Mt. Lake, were held Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Odin, with Pastor Steve Bruer officiating.
Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Odin.
Linnea died Jan. 11 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James, where she had been a resident since 1992.
Linnea Josephine Samuelson, the daughter of Victor and Louisa (Carlson) Samuelson, was born March 2, 1906, in Stratford, Iowa. She received her education in the Stratford Iowa schools.
In 1925 she married Albert O. Johnson in Butterfield. Following their marriage, they farmed near Butterfield for five years, until moving to a farm near Odin. In 1935, they moved to a farm in Mt. Lake Township, Cottonwood County, where they made their home until 1992.
She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Odin.
Survivors include seven children, Lorraine Sandberg, Butterfield; Verne (Katherine) Johnson, Mt. Lake; Darlene (August) Kunkel, Mt. Lake; George (Clara) Johnson, St. James; Leland C. (Barbara) Johnson, Mt. Lake; Ardella (David) Nelson, Walker and Lester (Judie) Johnson, Worthington; 30 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1992; two sisters, Maude Porter and Esther Paulson; one brother, George Samuelson; one son-in-law, Conrad Sandberg; eight-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gladys Franz
Gladys R. Franz, 72, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Mt. Lake, died Tuesday, December 28 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
A memorial service was held on January 8 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Prescott.
Gladys was born December 16, 1927, in Mt. Lake, to Peter and Marie Eitzen. She had been a resident of Prescott for 12 years; prior to that she lived in St. Paul. During her time in Prescott, Gladys was active in the Trinity Presbyterian Church. She volunteered at the Yavopai Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Mountain Top Quilters Club. She is survived by her husband, James, Prescott; sons, Jeffrey, Chanhassen; Richard, Minneapolis; James, Colorado Springs, Colo; Thomas, West Springfield, Mass.; and nine grandchildren.

Jacob Harder
Services for Jacob Harder, Jr., 82, of Mt. Lake, were held Jan. 13, at Alliance Missionary Church with Pastor Dennis Siebert officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Lake Cemetery.
He died on January 10 at the Windom Area Hospital.
Jacob Harder, Jr., the son of Jacob J.P. and Katharina (Ewert) Harder was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on October 13, 1917. The family moved to a farm southeast of Mt. Lake in 1918. He received his education at a country school near his home.
Jacob farmed with his parents until 1956, at which time they moved to Mt. Lake, where he had since made his home.
In 1968, he married Donna Rose Johnson in St. James, and together they had one daughter, Brenda.
He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake and a volunteer at the Senior Dining Center for many years.
In 1998 he entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake.
Pallbearers were Abe Adrian, Elmer Buller, Harvey Buller, Gilbert Esau, Art Rahn and Art Wall.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, Mt. Lake; a daughter Brenda (David) Wright, Largo, Fl., and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Harder, and a sister, Edna Schroeder.
Elizabeth Hiebert
Services for Elizabeth Hiebert, 91, of Mt. Lake, were held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, with Rev. Bruno Penner officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Lake Cemetery.
Elizabeth died Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Windom Area Hospital.
Elizabeth Wiebe, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Friesen) Wiebe was born Dec. 2, 1909, in Russia. At the age of three, she immigrated to the United States with her family.
Following her mother’s death, Elizabeth was raised by the John Jungas family in Mt. Lake. She received her education in Mt. Lake, graduating from Mt. Lake High School.
In 1932 she was united in marriage to George C. Hiebert in Mt. Lake. She lived her married life in Mt. Lake, where she was an active member of Bethel Mennonite Church.
She entered the Good Samaritan Village in March of 1985.
Survivors include her husband; six children, Luetta Harder of Mt. Lake, Marilyn (Bill) Cox of Lancaster, Calif., Eleanor (Don) Friesen of Reedly, Calif., Marjorie Penner of Lancaster, Calif., George (Cheryl) Hiebert, Jr. of Mt. Lake and Robert Hiebert of Chicago, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one sister, Helen Mikkleson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Tina Wiebe and Anna Wiebe; one brother, Jacob Wiebe; a son-in-law, Glenn Harder and one great-grandchild.
Ogden Rood
Ogden Rood, 68, of Windom died Nov. 5, 1999, at his home.
Services were held Monday at the Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Windom with the Rev. Andrew Olsem officiating.
Special music was provided by Merrill Womach, vocalist.
Pallbearers were Ken Arnsdorf, John Earlewine, Tom Schaffer, Truman Johnson, Arnie Olson and Ron Becker.
Interment was at Memory Gardens in Windom.
Ogden Walter Rood was born in Bethel Hospital in Mt. Lake on Sept. 11, 1931, the son of Walter F. and Olive E. (Galbraith) Rood. He grew up in the Comfrey area where he attended most of his years of school. His senior year he came to Mt. Lake High School, graduating in the class of 1949.
For many years after he farmed the family farm in Delton Township and provided care to his parents. In 1957, Oggie was seriously injured in an auto mishap. The resulting injuries forced him to discontinue farming and limited other activities. Later, he moved to Windom with his parents, providing them care to the end of their lives.
Throughout his life, Ogden had been an avid pilot, owning many aircraft and enjoying countless hours flying with friends. His hours of flight and additional training helped him to obtain an instrument flight rating.
For many years, Ogden had been a member of Prudence Lodge #97 A.F. & A.M. of Windom, the Zuhrah Temple of Minneapolis, the Commandery No. 4 of Mankato and the Knights Templer Eye Foundation. As a sportsman he was a member of the National Rifle Association In his years of flying he supported the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association through their membership.
Lois Suderman
Lois Suderman, 69, of rural Delft died Nov. 5, 1999, at Windom.
Services were held Monday at Carson Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Delft with Pastor Herb Schroeder and Pastor Bruno Penner officiating.
Special music was provided by Elaine Kroeker, organist.
Pallbearers were Joe Blowers, Erin Goedde, Stephanie Goedde, Eric Goedde, Rebecca Goedde and Tyler Suderman.
Interment was held at Carson Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Delft.
Lois Margaret Wiens was born March 24, 1930, at Mt. Lake Hospital to Isaac and Nattie (Friesen) Weins. She attended grade school at 16 Central in Carson Township and public school at Mt. Lake. She attended college at Grace Bible Institute at Omaha, Neb. Lois was baptized in 1942, and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church in rural Carson Township, where she was a life member.
Lois married Jean Suderman in 1952, and they lived and farmed in Dale and Carson Townships. She taught vacation Bible school with the American Sunday School Union and was active in her church in teaching Sunday school, was organist for many years, and sang in the church choir.
Lois was chairman of the Women’s Missionary Society, active in Mennonite Central Committee with the Care and Share Store in Mt. Lake and also active in the Lois Club. She helped make many quilts for third world countries and was a volunteer in Eastern Kentucky and Mali, French West Africa.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, David; a brother, Elmer; and a sister, Carolyn.
Survivors include her husband, Jean; two daughters, Elaine (Eric) Goedde of Valley Center, Kan.; and LaVonne (Joe) Blowers of Portland, Ore.; a son, Dwight (Danielle) of Mound Ridge, Kan.; and eight grandchildren.
Harry Regehr
Funeral arrangements for Harry Regehr, 81, of Mt. Lake are pending with the Bjerum Funeral Home in Mt. Lake.
Harry died Nov. 8, 1999, at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.
