Esther Wiebe
Esther Wiebe, 91, of Delft died Feb. 24, 2005, at her home in Delft.
Services were held Monday at Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft.
Interment was at Delft Cemetery in Delft.
Bjerum Funeral Home of Mt. Lake was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Esther Goertzen was born Sept. 24, 1913, to Peter and Anna (Faust) Goertzen in Bingham Lake. She moved to Delft with her parents and grew up there. On May 24, 1931, she was baptized at Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft upon confession of faith and remained a member there all her life.
On Feb. 25, 1937, she married Clarence Wiebe and together they lived and farmed near Mt. Lake and south of Delft.
They purchased a gas station in Delft and worked together with Esther doing the bookkeeping and Clarence delivering fuel.
Clarence died in 1965.
Esther continued to operate the station with the help of Thorval and hired help until it was sold to Windom Co-op.
Esther worked various jobs in Mt. Lake and Windom until retiring.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as flower gardening, tending to yard work and quilting. She supported the Bible of the Month Club for many years and prayed daily for her family.
In addition to her husband Clarence, Esther was preceded in death by her three sisters: Lillian Bradley, Jenny Voth and Alice Wile; four brothers: her twin, Arthur in infancy; Ervin, Richard and Virgil Goertzen; a grandson, Cory Bartsch; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Voth.
Survivors include her three children: Janet (Marlyn) Bartsch of Windom, Marilyn Bartsch of Delft, and Thorval (Georgette) Wiebe of Marshall; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Courts of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Minnie Goertzen of Mt. Lake, Wilma Goertzen of St. Paul and Ellyn Goertzen of Faribault; and a brother-in-law, Paul Gradley of Bingham Lake.

Harriet Dick
Harriet Betty (Kiral) Dick, 89, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Winona, and Mt. Lake, died December 11, 2005 at Chula Vista Care Center in Mesa.
Funeral services were held Saturday, at First Baptist Church, Winona, with Rev. Al Kleinsasser officiating.
Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
A memorial service will be held on January 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Myra Chapel of the Trinity Baptist Church, 2130 East University Drive, Mesa.
Services are being handled by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, 1476 West Broadway, Winona, MN 55987, (507) 452-3624.
Harriet was born April 29, 1916, in Winona, to Ozro S. and Agnes A. (Flint) Holland.
On May 3, 1938 she married Durward (Bud) Kiral. He preceded her in death January 9, 1973.
On January 29, 1976 she married Raymond H. Dick of Mt. Lake. Their remaining years were divided between Mt. Lake and Mesa.
She had many close friends and especially enjoyed their frequent picnics and outings on the sandbars of the Mississippi.
Harriet also enjoyed traveling, as did Bud and Ray. They traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe starting with tent camping in the mid-1950s and migrating to Airstream trailers and a motor home in the later years.
Harriet was a faithful Christian and long-time member of First Baptist Church, Winona.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons: Gerald (Barbara) Kiral of Bloomington, and Robert (Kay) Kiral of Denton, Texas; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren; and Ray’s family, Pat, Rodney, and Jon Dueck.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Durward; daughter, Marilynn; grandson, Scott Kiral; brother, Merrill and two sisters, Ruth and Marjory.

Calvin Strenge
Calvin Strenge, 82, of Windom died Dec. 16, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Village in Mt. Lake.
Services were held Monday at American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastors Gregory Hall and Stephen Norby officiating.
Casketbearers were Jim Johnson, Elmer Carlson, David Strenge, Brad Olson, Tim Strenge and Ron Penner.
Interment with full military honors provided by Windom American Legion Post #206 was at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
LaCanne Family Funeral Service of Windom handled the funeral arrangements.
Calvin Godfred Strenge was born Dec. 4, 1923, to Eilert and Gerdena (Siefkes) Strenge in rural Mt. Lake. He was baptized at the Christian Reformed Church in rural Mt. Lake and later confirmed.
He received his education in District #12 country school in Cottonwood County.
He was drafted into the United States Army, served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre, and was later honorably discharged.
In 1951, Cal married Myrtle Ludvigson.
He worked as a mechanic for many years for Anderson Chevrolet in Windom before going on his own. Carl then farmed in rural Windom for many years.
Myrtle died in 1995 and Cal moved from the farm into Windom.
Cal became a resident of Mt. Lake Good Samaritan Village earlier this month.
Calvin was a longtime member of American Lutheran Church in Windom, where he ushered for many years. He also was a member of American Legion Post #206 and the VFW.
In addition to his wife Myrtle, Cal was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Eilert and George Strenge and four sisters: Dena, Gretchen, Annabelle and Margret.
Survivors include his son, Terry (Lisa) Strenge of Savage; two granddaughters; and his brothers and sisters: Dick (Norma) Strenge of New Ulm, Evangline Harder of Mt. Lake, Josephine Penner of Windom, Lawrence (Grace) Strenge of Odin and Florence (Don) Snook of Onamia.

Nellie Nundahl
Nellie Grace Nundahl, 91, of Mt. Lake, formerly of Viroqua, died Dec. 15, 2005.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Viroqua, Wis., with Rev. Kathy Ingbritsen officiating.
Interment was at the Viroqua Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Sue Walby, organist and Peter Walby, vocalist.
Pallbearers were Odean and Arvid Hanson, Jack Deters, Edward Lind and Mark and Phil Solverson.
Arrangements were handled by Thorson Funeral Home, Viroqua.
Nellie Grace Hanson was born March 16, 1914 in Franklin, to John N. and Olive Paulina (Kast) Hanson.
She was baptized and confirmed to Lutheran faith on November 11, 1928 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nellie Grace attended Viroqua High School and graduated with the Class of 1932. She then attended Vernon County Norman School, graduating in 1933.
On April 4, 1934, Nellie Grace married Palmer Nundahl. The couple farmed most of their lives on a farm west of Viroqua from 1935 to 1973. They then moved into Viroqua.
Nellie Grace was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Relief Corps, Bethel Home Auxiliary, Eagles, ALEW President, Family League President, Horizon Homemakers and School Board Member for the Davis School District. She was also a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her three children: Paul Nundahl of Viroqua, Sonja Buhrow of Cedarburg, and Pauline (Don) Nickel of Mt. Lake; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers: Vilas and Harold Hanson; a sister: Lillian Fredrick and a son-in-law: LeRoy Buhrow.

Dennis Behrends
Dennis Behrends, 75, of Mt. Lake, died Jan. 25, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
A service was held Monday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake with Rev. Robert Gardner officiating.
Casketbearers were his grandsons and honorary casketbearers were his granddaughters.
Interment was at the Mt. Lake Cemetery with full military honors.
Arrangements were with Bjerum Funeral Home in Mt. Lake.
Dennis William Behrends, the son of William and Rosa (Jass) Behrends was born on March 23, 1930, near Mt. Lake. He received his education at, and graduated from, the Mt. Lake High School. Dennis was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake, and this is where he remained a life- long member.
On July 10, 1952, Dennis married Rachel Smith at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. After living in Washington D. C. for three-and-one-half years while Dennis served in the United States Air Force, they made their home on the Behrends family farm just west of Mt. Lake. Rachel died on February 7, 1991. Dennis loved farming, and he continued living on his farm after his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, horses, snowmobiling and hunting when he was younger, and he blew snow for many area residents and churches. Dennis’ greatest joys were his dogs and visiting his children for coffee on a regular basis.
Survivors include his seven children, Jackie Lindley of Mt. Lake, Denise Marcy of Mt. Lake, Micheal (Shirley) Behrends of Mallard, Ia., Mark (Peggy) Behrends of Windom, Roxanne Park of Sioux Falls, S. D., Charles (Brenda) Behrends of Lakefield, and Robert (Debra) Behrends of Windom; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Teichroew of Yankton, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosa Behrends; his wife, Rachel Behrends; two grandsons, Travis Behrends and Marcus Behrends; and a brother, Harlan Behrends.

Benjamin Pankratz
Services for 91-year-old Benjamin A. Pankratz of Orlando, Fla., were held Thursday, January 12 at Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs, Fla.
Benjamin died Monday, January 9, in Orlando.
He was born in Mt. Lake, the first-born child of Alex and Anna Pankratz.
Benjamin and his wife of 67 years, Katherine, who survives him, were missionaries to Bolivia and he later became a masseur.
