Albert "Fat" Lohmann
Albert "Fat" Lohmann, 83, former businessman in Cannon Falls, died August 14, 1998 in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born in Zumbrota, and was a jewelry store owner in Cannon Falls until he left in the mid 1950s. He was a member of the Cannon Falls Male Chorus, and also operated a popcorn stand in downtown Cannon Falls and at athletic field sporting events. His wife, Charlotte, worked for Dr. Bob Stultz. He moved to Hoyt Lakes, Mn, where he became city administrator, and later to Arizona after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sister, Myrtle Thomforde, brother, Kenneth, Red Wing. Funeral services were held Friday at Mesa Funeral Care Chapel, Mesa. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Lillian Stromme

Adeline "Lillian" Stromme, 89, Cannon Falls and formerly of Kenyon, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 1, 1999 at the Our Lady of the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has been residing this past year.

She was born on March 8, 1910 in Kenyon, the daughter of Christoffer and Bergitte "Belle" (Haugen) Flaten. She attended country school near her home in Wanamingo Township.

Lillian married Omer G. Stromme on June 29, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, and they farmed in Wanamingo Township for 30 years. In 1970, they moved in to Kenyon. Omer died on April 13, 1972. Lillian remained in Kenyon for 28 years, until moving to Cannon Falls in June 1998.

She was a lifelong active member of the Holden Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on May 8, 1910 and confirmed on March 10, 1925.

She loved the outdoors, flowers and yard work. She also enjoyed reading and playing her organ.

She is the loving mother of Ronald (Janet) Stromme of Cannon Falls and Orlyn Stromme of Las Vegas, NV; beloved grandmother of Steven (Jennifer) Stromme of Rochester, Mitchell Stromme of Morgan Hill, CA and Lisa (Hector) Cuevas of Faribault; six great-grandchildren, Ashly, Joshua, Timmy, Demi, Courtney and Noah; two brothers, Howard (Lorna) Flaten of Kenyon and Maurice (Betty) Flaten of Red Oak, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omer; two grandchildren, an infant boy and Travis Stromme; five brothers, Obert, Clifford, Norman, Carl and Sanford Flaten; and sister, Edna Broin.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, June 5 at 1 p.m. at the Holden Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Lockerby officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roger, Calvin, Dennis and Gordon Flaten, Lowell Broin and Harold Lund.

Marion Gillispie
Marion August Gillispie, 85, Farmington, and formerly of Inver Grove Heights and Stanton, died on Tuesday morning, June 1, 1999 at his home.

Marion was born on November 5, 1913 in Northfield Township, the son of Henry and Mathilda (Bickel) Gillispie. He attended country school in Dennison. Until he was 16 years of age, Marion and his brother, Homer played with the Dennison Boys and Girls Band.

Marion married Viola V. Drentlaw on February 14, 1935 in Northfield at the Methodist parsonage. They farmed for 33 years near Stanton. Marion worked for 20 years for the Chicago Great Western Railroad, retiring in March 1977.

In 1966, they moved to South St. Paul, and in 1969 bought their home in Inver Grove Heights. Viola died on January 14, 1997.

Marion had been an active member of the Randolph United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Shirley (Herbert) Petersen, Eugene (Sig) and Russell (Bonnie), all of Northfield, Harold (Karen) of Farmington, Curtis (Cheryl) of Fort Gibson, OK and Kevin (Bonnie) of Cannon Falls; 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; great-grandson, Matthew Ashton; and brother, Homer in May 1997.

Funeral service was held on Friday, June 4 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Northfield, with Pastor Phil Strom officiating. Interment was at the Stanton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were granddaughters, Tanya and Renee Gillispie, Penny Dougherty, Debbie Haan, Dawn Parrott, Kim Ness, Karen Kimber, Pam and Marilyn Petersen, Becky Mellgren, Samantha and Sarha Gillispie. Honorary pallbearers were the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice in lieu of flowers.

Rebecca Elias

Rebecca "Becci" Elias, 50, Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dana Peterson officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home. A full notice will appear in next week's Beacon.

Anna Murray
Anna Mary Murray, 88, formerly of Randolph, died at the Kenyon Sunset Home on April 16, 1999.

She was born in Hampton on July 6, 1910. Anna lived most of her life in Randolph except for the past seven years, when she lived in Kenyon. She was a member of St. Pius V. Church in Cannon Falls.

Survivors include daughters Janet (Pat) Kuehn, Cannon Falls, and Marilyn (Marvin) Giefer, Hampton; sons Victor (Evelyn), Cottage Grove, Richard (LaRose), Reuben (Sheila) and Dennis (Michelle), Cannon Falls, James (Judy), Elk River, and Thomas, Wanamingo; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; sisters Irene Victor and Theresa Gitzen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; brothers Henry, Matt and Harold; sisters Regina and Viola.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 20, at Church of St. Pius V., Cannon Falls. Pallbearers were Terrick Giefer, Wade Murray, Brian Murray, Larry Kuehn, Becky Murray and Patty Olson. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery, Randolph.

Carmaliena Pascarella
Mrs. Guy (Carmaliena) Pascarella of Maddaloni, Italy, formerly of Cannon Falls, died at her home on July 7, 2001.

She was a sister-in-law of former resident Bill Golden, who now lives at St. Petersburg, FL.

Frieda Roeber
Frieda E. Roeber, 93, Rochester, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Samaritan Bethany Heights Nursing Home.

She was born July 20, 1907 near Caledonia, the daughter of August and Karline Wuennecke. Raised in Houston Co., she was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She married William Roeber Sept. 1, 1927, in LaCrosse. They farmed in the Caledonia area until 1951 when they moved to Rochester. They worked at the Kahler Hotel, she in housekeeping, he as a carpenter. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its ladies aid, Rochester, and the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughters, Irmgarde (Ralph) Hendrickson, Hancock, Hildegarde (Virgil) Hanson, Greeley, CO, and Renata (Richard) Riley, Spokane, WA; a son, Ernest (Joanne) Roeber, Rochester, formerly of Cannon Falls; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1967, and a brother, Fred Wuennecke.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rochester. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester.

Tom Flom
Thomas Stanley Flom, 68, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at his home.

Tom was born at home in Leon Township on March 26, 1933, the son of Laurence T. and Myrtle M. (Berg) Flom. He attended country school in Sogn Valley and later graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1951. He has been a lifelong member at Urland Lutheran Church.

Tom was employed as a pipe fitter at Koch Refinery for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the OCAW Union.

Tom married Marilyn L. Morris on December 7, 1963 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rosemount.

Tom had a great love of nature and enjoyed the outdoors, including snowmobiling and golfing. He enjoyed collecting antiques and playing cards, especially euchre. He was an avid crossword puzzle player, and loved the family pets.

He is survived by his children, Jerry and wife Bonnie German of Cannon Falls, Gregory and fiancée, Stephanie Delzell of Minneapolis, and Carrie and fiancé, Dennis Otto of Hampton; two grandchildren, Dillon and Jake German; former wife, Marilyn Flom of Cannon Falls; brother, Donald Flom of Northfield and formerly of Eden Prairie; sisters, Lucille (Curtis) Peterson of Edina and Beverly Sviggum of Kenyon; aunt, Gladys Drometer of Cannon Falls; best friend, Scooby; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service was held on Monday, July 9 at Urland Lutheran Church, with Pastor Scott McLaughlin officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were his nephews, Steve, Rick and Jim Sviggum, Todd Flom, Paul and Joel Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Rollie Ellingson, Grant Larson, Jerome Judge, Gerald Kuhn, Ed Robinson, Dean Poe and Connie Johnson.
