Janet Jacobson
Janet Myra Jacobson, 84, formerly of Troy, Ohio, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2002 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, where she had been a resident since May 3, 2001.

Janet was born on May 1, 1918 in Leon Township, the daughter of Joseph A. and Anna G. (Ring) Jacobson. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1936, later attended the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, and received her medical technician's certificate on March 21, 1940.

Janet moved to Troy, Ohio where she was employed as a medical technician at the Stouder Memorial Hospital from 1941 until her retirement. She was active in the Altura
Club and held offices during her many years of service.

Janet was a very active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. She enjoyed flower gardening.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers, Helen (Al) Glass of San Jose, CA, Mildred Jacobson of Minneapolis, Wallace (Kathy) Jacobson and Allan (Ginny) Jacobson, all of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Chester, Everette, James, Eugene and Robert Jacobson.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 14 at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls with Pastor Keith E.O. Homstad officiating. Interment was at the Eidsvold Cemetery in Leon Township.

Active pallbearers were Craig, Kevin, Trent, Terry and Jeff Jacobson and Jeanne Copple.

Arrangements by Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.

Ralph Voelker
Ralph E. Voelker, 59, Cannon Falls and formerly of Faribault, died on Friday, June 14, 2002 in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.

Voelker, son of Victor and Lucille (Roehrick) Voelker, was born on June 11, 1943 in Faribault. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by R.C. Bliss, Faribault, for many years.

Survivors include two brothers, Rob (Sharon) Voelker and Harold Voelker, all of Faribault; one sister, Patricia Ann Canterbury of Bloomington; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Joan and Geraldine Francis Voelker in infancy.

Services were held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Wednesday, June 19 at 1:30 p.m. Interment with veteran's military rites provided by the Central Veteran's Association was held in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.

Marilyn Holmquist
Marilyn Emma Holmquist, 70, Hastings, died Thursday, August 19, 2004, at Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born June 30, 1934, in Red Wing, the daughter of Fred and Mabel (Blohm) Steaffens. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School. She moved to St. Paul. She married Glenn Holmquist July 7, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in St. Paul until 1971 when they moved to Hastings. Marilyn worked as a nursing assistant and the activities director at Haven Homes Nursing Home in Hastings, until her retirement. Glenn died December 6, 1002.

Marilyn was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Welch were she taught Sunday School for many years and she served as a Sunday School Superintendent. Marilyn was involved in the Etter Birthday Club and the Senior Center in Hastings. She loved volunteering at the Christa McAuliffe Elementary School in the book buddies program. Marilyn enjoyed birdwatching and doing many different crafts.

Survivors include her three children, Debbie (Jeff) Bauer of Hastings, Linda (Steve) Tatge of Cannon Falls and Glenn M. Holmquist of Hastings; four grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Bauer and Justin and Jessica Tatge; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Roy (Phyllis) Stumpf of Red Wing; Earl (Lois) Stumpf of Red Wing, Sylvia Madsen of Red Wing and Verneil Bodelson of Red Wing; close relative, Verona Luhman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn Holmquist and stepsister, Sylvia Madsen.

Funeral services were held Monday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Thomas Hanson officiating. Burial was in Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the church or the American Cancer Society.

Perry Clark
Perry A. Clark, 77, East Moline, IL, died August 26, 2004 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Perry was born January 9, 1927 in Putman County, MO to Hobart and Ruby Murphy Clark. He married Georgeanne Condra on May 18, 1951 in East Moline.

Perry was a welder for 34 years for Iowa Illinois Electric, retiring in 1989 as a crew leader. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the Seymour, IA American Legion for 60 years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Georgeanne; daughters Jill (Bob) Ballard of Cannon Falls, Cyndi (Rick Sage) Christopher of LeClaire, IA, and Jamie (Will) McLaughin of Rock Island; grandchildren, Adam and Chad Otis, Keri Pena, Lindsay and Timothy Hernandez; two step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one step great grandchild; sisters, Virginia Warren and Doris Wiley, both of Safford, AZ, and Connie Wallace of San Diego, CA. Perry was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, East Moline where he was a member and volunteered at the church when he was able. Burial was at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials can be made to Perry Clark in care of the church.

Alice M. Albers

Memorial services for Alice M. Albers will be held on Thursday, April 29, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Perham Memorial Home Chapel with Rev. Elaine Foote-Blum officiating.

Alice M. Albers was born March 2, 1907 in Rutland, Iowa. She was third in a family of five children born to Soren and Kristina Olesen. Alice married Everett H. Albers in June of 1924 in Northfield, MN.

Alice passed away at Perham Memorial Nursing Home on Sunday, April 25, 1999 at 92 years of age. She had resided at the nursing home since 1997. She loved gardening, playing cards and had been a member of the Eastern Star in Perham for several years. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Perham before moving to Florida where she lived until 1997.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Everett; daughter, Donna; and son, Garry.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie (Wesley) Ford of Palmetto, FL and Hancock, ME; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Perham Village Cemetery, Perham, MN with arrangements by the Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN.

Roland C. Mischke

Roland Mischke, age 57, of West Fargo, North Dakota died April 15, 1999 in Omaha, NE.

Mr. Mischke was born October 24, 1941 in Perham to the late August and Martha Mischke of Perham and New York Mills. He grew up and attended school in the Perham and New York Mills area.

In 1961 he married Marlene A. Miller in Forman, ND. He began working for the John Morrell Co. as a truck driver. She died in 1972. On November 25, 1972, he married Marlene J. Whitted in Fargo. After 31 years with John Morrell, he retired in 1993. He was currently employed by Magnum Ltd. of Fargo, ND.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; a son, Mark (Jennifer) of Auburn, WA; two daughters, Lynette (Michael) Hatlen of Rosemount, MN and Diane (Doug) Hersch of Harwood, ND; brother, Erwin (Mabel) Mischke of Leonard, ND; three sisters: Elsie (Lyle) Clark of Veradale, WA, Irene (George) Walter of Perham, MN and Mabel (Maurice) Tunby of Baker, MT; sister-in-law, Mary Mischke of Perham, MN; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marlene; sister, Esther (Walter) Schumm; and two brothers, Lester Mischke of New York Mills and Raymond Mischke of Superior, WI.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 19, 1999 at Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo, ND.

Ervin Wallgren

Funeral services were held for Ervin Wallgren on Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at St. John's Catholic Church in Bluffton, MN, with Father Kevin Schwartz officiating. Hymns were sung by the choir and congregation, accompanied by Deb Sweere. The pallbearers were all of Ervin's grandchildren: Lynne, Daniel and Maggie Muckala, Kevin and Tim Dalton, Shannon and Joe Wallgren, Greta, Chad and Beth Wallgren, Katie and David Krueger, Michael Pulju, Leah and Garrett Wallgren and Alec Robertson. Interment was in Haycreek Cemetery, rural Sebeka, MN.

Ervin Leslie Wallgren was born September 22, 1926 at home in Blowers Township, rural Sebeka, MN. His parents were the late F. Algot and Adla (Ljundren) Wallgren. Ervin grew up on the family farm in Blowers Township and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1944. Ervin served in the United States Navy during World War II from July 18, 1944 to July 12, 1946. On July 27, 1948 Ervin was married to Magdalene Langer at St. John's Catholic Church in Bluffton. They resided in Bluffton and were married for 36 years. Ervin worked at the Bluffton Creamery for 40 years, he was the buttermaker and then became manager. He was mayor of Bluffton for several years and was a volunteer fireman for 37 years. He also played and managed baseball for the Bluffton Braves for many years. Retiring in 1987, Ervin continued to reside in Bluffton and then moved to New York Mills in 1994. He was a member and past president of the Bluffton Lions Club. Ervin enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and watching sports. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. During retirement, refinishing antiques and gardening were his hobbies.

On April 17, 1999 Ervin passed away at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN at 72 years of age.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Carl Wallgren and an infant brother; sisters, Gladys Petersen and Clarice Wallgren; and granddaughter, Monique Wallgren.

Survivors include five daughters: Karen (Gerry) Muckala of New York Mills, MN, Connie (Clyde) Dalton of Medford, OR, Laurie (Alan) Kruger of Perham, MN, Paula Pulju of Palos Verdes, CA, and Becky (Richard) Robertson of Fergus Falls, MN; four sons: Jeff (Barb) Wallgren of Jacksonville, OR, Tom (Kris) Wallgren of New York Mills, MN, Scott (Tran) Wallgren of Honolulu, HI and Pat (Kari) Wallgren of Fargo, ND; 16 grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Orin) Petersen of New York Mills, MN; brother, George (Jeanette) Wallgren of Bluffton, MN; brother-in-law, Lyle (Delores) Petersen of New York Mills, MN; special friend, Zoe Gilbertson of Wadena, MN; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen and Son Funeral Home of New York Mills, MN.
