Kevin M. Hartwig

Services for Kevin M. Hartwig, 33, St. Cloud, MN, was held Monday, May 17, 1999 at Williams Funeral Home Chapel, St. Cloud.

Interment was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Kevin was born on April 20, 1966, in Fargo, ND to Don Hartwig and Marleen (Snyder) Hartwig. Kevin was a 1984 graduate of Fargo North High School. He was employed as telecommunications technician by Marco Business Products, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.

Survivors include parents; brothers, Brian, Bluegrass, IA, Dave, Brooklyn Park, MN; paternal grandmother, Lenora Hartwig, Perham, MN; and maternal grandparents, Roy and Lois Snyder, Fargo.

Arnold "Arnie" Haukebo

Funeral services for Arnold "Arnie" Haukebo, 94, Frazee, Minnesota were held on Monday, May 17, 1999 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Frazee with Reverend William Aufdenkamp officiating. Burial was in the Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee. Casketbearers were his grandsons, Cary and Brad Johnson, Tony and Joe Cole, Mike and Steve Erickson and Paul and Craig Haukebo. Serving as honorary casketbearers were his granddaughters, Ann Reff, Kris Haukebo-Tran, Stephanie Steine, Nicole Rollie, Lindsey Haukebo and Kathy Haukebo. Organist was Kathy Carlson and soloist was Glen Miller. Mr. Haukebo passed away on Thursday, May 13, 1999 in his home.

Arnold Willmar Haukebo was born the son of Thomas and Louise (Larson) Haukebo on November 2, 1904 in Sverdrup Township, near Underwood, Minnesota. There he was raised and attended country school. In 1928, he began working in the creamery in Battle Lake, Minnesota. He also worked on the railroad and on a dairy farm.

In 1931, he attended a Dairy Short Course at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. In May of 1931, he began work at the Vergas Creamery. He was a manager of the Vergas, Erhard and Frazee Creameries all in Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Hilma Buehler on September 21, 1938 in Vergas, Minnesota. He retired in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Hilma of Frazee, four daughters, Janice (Jon) Johnson of Bloomington, Minnesota, Carolyn (James) Cole of Brainerd, Minnesota, Dorothy (David) Erickson of Kenyon, Minnesota and Jean (Phillip) Rollie of Marion, Iowa, two sons, Duane (Annette) of St. Paul, Minnesota and Thomas (Claudia) of Fort Collins Colorado. He is also survived by three brothers, Thomas (Tyne) of Anchorage, Alaska, Herbert (Olive) of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, Rudolph of Battle Lake, Minnesota, two sisters, Signe Jorgenson of Underwood, Minnesota and Ellen Johnson of Battle Lake. 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ellis, Clarence and Walter

Arlene Dorsey

Arlene Dorsey, 75, of Fredericksburg died Sunday, April 11, 1999 at Commonwealth Retirement Center, Fredericksburg, VA.

Mrs. Dorsey, born in New York Mills, MN had retired as a manager with Bell Atlantic Telephone Co. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Fredericksburg Senior Citizens and Take Off Pounds Sensibly. She was a graduate of New York Mills High School Class of 1941.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Boyd Dorsey of Fredericksburg, VA; and sister, Dorla (Merv) Bernu of Perham, MN; also many other relatives and a host of friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Ida Hendrickson; sisters, Pearl Hendrickson and Mayme (Mrs. Michael Rebuck); brothers, Raymond and Paul Hendrickson; and one son, Jerome.

Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, handled the funeral arrangements, which were private.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Association, 435 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10016.

Balbina "Bea" Schwientek

The funeral service for Balbina "Bea" Schwientek was held on Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with internment in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Perham. Bea passed away on Sunday, May 23, 1999 at the Perham Memorial Home.

Bea was born on March 31, 1913 in Perham, Minnesota. She was married to Thomas Schwientek on August 23, 1932. Together, they owned and operated Mosquito Heights Resort on Big Pine Lake near Perham for many years.

Surviving Bea is one sister, Josephine Douglas of Perham, MN, a sister-in-law, Helen Schuler of Perham, MN, a brother-in-law, Charles Rutten of Wadena, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, who died in November 1998 and her parents.

Funeral arrangements were made by Schoeneberger Funeral Home of Perham, Minnesota.

Erna Fleischer

Funeral services were held for Erna Fleischer on Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, MN with the Rev. Arlan Thompson officiating. The hymns were sung by Gary Bach and the congregation, accompanied by Cindy Becker.

The pallbearers were Larry Selander, Clarence Siebels, Glen Meier, Jerry Barker, Allan Bauck and Carl Bauck. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, New York Mills, MN.

Erna Johanna Frieda Fleischer was born May 5, 1909 at home in Pine Lake Township, rural New York Mills, MN. Her parents were the late August and Lydia (Lierman) Bauck. She was baptized on May 9, 1909 in New York Mills and confirmed on May 6, 1923 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham, MN. Erna attended the Hill School in Pine Lake Township, rural New York Mills and then attended parochial school in Perham during her confirmation. After school she worked at the Sweeney Cleaners in Fargo, ND. On September 9, 1937 Erna was united in marriage with Walter Gust Fleischer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Perham. They both worked in Fargo until they bought their farm in Gorman Township, rural Perham in 1934. Erna worked on their farm and also worked in the Perham Bakery. In 1974 Erna and Walter sold their farm and retired to New York Mills. Walter passed away on March 11, 1980.

Erna lived at home until 1997 when she moved to the Elders' Home in New York Mills. She was a faithful church member her entire life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills and also belonged to the Blue Bird Sewing Group, 4 Corners Homemakers Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers, especially roses, she could make anything grow. She also enjoyed quilting, various crafts, embroidery, cross stitching, crocheting, rummage sales, babysitting and baking, her specialty was her cakes. Erna always cherished the time she babysat her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

On May 18, 1999, Erna passed away at the Perham Memorial Hospital, Perham, MN at 90 years of age.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and brother, Erhardt Bauck.

Survivors include her sister, Alma Selander of New York Mills, MN; two brothers, Norbert (Clara) Bauck and Edgar Bauck, of New York Mills, MN; 7 nieces and nephews: Larry (Karen) Selander, New York Mills, MN; Marlys (Jerry) Barker, Deer Creek, MN; Allan (Kathy) Bauck, New York Mills, MN, Carl Bauck, New York Mills, MN; Sharon (Clarence) Siebels, Perham, MN, Joann Hooven, New York Mills, MN; and Sandy (Glen) Meier, New York Mills, MN; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Arrangements were provided by Karvonen and Son Funeral Home of New York Mills, MN.

Raymond P. Williams

Raymond P. Williams, age 52, of Newport, MN, died on May 13, 1999 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of Elsie Williams and grew up in Perham, MN. Beloved father of Stephanie Jesme, Victoria Williams and Charles Williams; loving grandfather of Alexander, Clarissa, Brandon and Rachael; brother of Audrey Taylor, Frances Huwe, Arvid Williams, Kenneth Williams, Bonnie Feuerborn, Clyde Williams and Sharon Rhodes; son-in-law, Mabel Sparks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice; father, Kenneth; and sister, Janet.

He was a 30 year employee of 3M Chemolite.

Memorial gathering was held at the KOK Funeral Home, Cottage Grove, MN. Interment of Cremains and Memorial Service was held May 23, 1999 at Norderhaug Cemetery, Henning, MN.

Dustin Hart

Dustin Hart, 18, of Rothsay, died Friday, May 21, 1999 at Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, ND as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born on December 10, 1980 in Fergus Falls. He was baptized on February 2, 1981 and confirmed on May 5, 1996, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. Dustin was also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Dustin attended Fergus Falls schools until 1996, when he chose to work full time. He traveled on the road for two years with Nord Construction, upon layoff in 1998. Then he began to work at Minn Dak in Wahpeton, and just began a summer job on a farm south of Detroit Lakes. Dustin enjoyed farming, especially with his grandpa, Uhlig. He also helped out other farmers in the area.

He enjoyed snowmobiling and racing his mod-4 at I-94 racetrack in Fergus Falls. He was looking forward to his first race of the season the day he left us.

Preceding him in death were his uncles, Steven Uhlig and Rick Hart; grandparents, John Hart, Jo and Jim Wentler; great-grandparents, Charles and Mathilda Stender, Clara and Gust Uhlig and Doris and Al Friedman; and a great-uncle, Lloyd Stender.

Survivors include his five month old son, Tahren Steven Hart of Rothsay; Tahren's mother and Dustin's girlfriend, Heather Dinger of Rothsay; his dog, Jazz; his mother, Connie Hart (Clayton Nord) of Elizabeth; fathers, Mike (Sue) Hart of New York Mills and Jay Wentler of Fergus Falls; sisters, Daccyn Jayce, Elizabeth and Jessica Hart, Detroit Lakes; brothers, Josh Hart, Dave and Dan Resch, Chris and Eric Nord, Detroit Lakes; grandparents, Lyle and Joyce Uhlig of Erhard and Iris and Erv Ohman of Pelican Rapids; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with Reverend Nancy Windels officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date in St. John's Cemetery in Elizabeth.

Arrangements were by the Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls.
