Leslie Louis Erickson
The funeral for Leslie Louis Erickson was Oct. 13 at First Lutheran Church of Highland, the Rev. Paul Johnson officiated. Burial was in the church Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 40 of Lanesboro.
Mr. Erickson, 79, of Rushford, a retired Cytec employee, died Saturday (Oct. 9, 2004) at Valleyview Nursing Home in Houston.
He was born July 30, 1925, in Stoughton, Wis., and served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947. On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Alida Erickson in Rushford. He farmed in the Highland area for seven years and for 23 years worked in the maintenance department at Cytec, where he was a boiler operator for seven years before his retirement. He was a member of Highland Lutheran Church, served on the Highland Cemetery Board and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry of Austin and Richard (Tara) of Wiggins, Miss.; a daughter, Mary (Stuart) Brown of Omaha, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a half brother, Charles (Paula) Richard of Raymond, Wash.; and a half sister, Lorraine Eastman of Stoughton, Wis. A son preceded him in death.

Mary Lou Burke
Mary Lou (Eberhard) Burke of Burnsville passed away on Sept. 28, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 18, 1936, in Clyde, Ohio.
In October of 1960 she and Roger Burke, formerly of Rushford, were married.
After her husband’s death in March, 1978, she worked in insurance and finances until her illness set in.
She was a volunteer at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville as an assistant chaplain.
Mrs. Burke is survived by three children: Betsy Burke of Owatonna, Todd (Mimi) Burke of Farmington and Bob Burke of Apple Valley; one brother, John Eberhard of Clyde, Ohio; four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services were Oct. 1 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville. Interment was in Rushford Lutheran Cemetery.

Harriet B. Langseth
Harriet B. Langseth, 91, of St. Elizabeth’s’ Nursing Home in Wabasha, and a former long-time St. Charles resident, died Monday morning (Oct. 4, 2004) at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha.
She was born June 28, 1913, in Peterson to Peter and Thea (Boyum) Agrimson. She lived with her family in Peterson before moving to Sebeka, Minn. Her mother died when Harriet was ten, she then returned to Peterson to live with family.
She married Melvin Langseth on April 17, 1932 in Glyndon, Minn. The couple farmed in rural Lewiston until retiring and moving to St. Charles in 1976. Melvin died on Apr. 26, 1986. She moved to Rushford in Nov. of 2001 and to St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home of Wabasha in Aug. of 2004.
Mrs. Langseth is a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles and a former member of Arendahl Lutheran Church in rural Peterson. She was also a member of Faith’s W.E.L.C.A. group. She enjoyed many hours making quilts.
Survivors include four children; Marlyn (Donelda) Langseth of Minneiska, Phyllis Langseth of Stillwater, Thea (Terry) Schultz of Wabasha and Sharon (Ron) Kalmes of St. Paul; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Paul (Ethel) Agrimson of Peterson, Robert (Joy) Agrimson of St. Paul and Orrin (June) Agrimson of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters Margaret Currie of Rushford and Bernette Vraspir of Seattle, Wash. In addition to her husband Melvin, a granddaughter Kimberly Vallandby preceded her in death.
Funeral Services are 11 a.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles, Pastor Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Arendahl Cemetery, rural Peterson. Friends may call one hour before services at the church

Harris A. Jonsgaard
Harris A. Jonsgaard, 75, of Lewiston died Tuesday (Sept. 21, 2004) at his home.
He was born Mar. 15, 1929, in Fremont Township of Winona County to Harry and Agnes (Bailey) Jonsgaard.
On Mar. 31, 1948 he and Bernice Mueller were married in Lewiston. Mr. Jonsgaard owned and operated Jonsgaard Trucking for 37 years. Following his retirement from trucking he became custodian of Immanuel Lutheran Church and school at Silo. He later became janitor at Security State Bank in Lewiston.
Mr. Jonsgaard was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to auctions and playing cards with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Bernice, seven children; Karen (Larry) Buxcel of Hutchinson, Beverly (Ray) Gilliam of Brownsdale, Leland of Lewiston, LeRoy (Laura) of Stockton, Kevin (Carrie) of Minnesota City, Jodi (Robert) VanPelt of Austin and Kelly (Patrick) Kalmes of West Bend, Wis.; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; seven brothers; Marvin (Yvonne), Harold (Anah), Allen (Jean), Curtis, Arvid (Pat), Wilbert (Pattie), Eldon (Caroline) all from the area.
Preceding him in death are his parents and two sisters.
Funeral Services were Sept. 27 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo in rural Lewiston, the Rev. William Meilner officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.

Keith Eggan Colbenson
Keith Eggan Colbenson, 75, passed away June 25, 2004, in Lancaster, Calif., after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born June 25, 1929, to “Chub” and Florence (Eggan) Colbenson and graduated from Rushford High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Air Force in England and other places. He was also stationed in Japan before returning to work at North American Rockwell as flight supervisor for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife Eileen; son Dale (Carol) Colbenson; two grandsons; brother, Robert; and mother-in-law, Hilda Parker, all in California.

Darold ‘Pete’ Reps
Darold “Pete” Reps, 54, of Lewiston died Friday morning (Sept. 10, 2004) at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis.
He was born July 5, 1950, in Winona to Douglas and Darlene (Boynton) Reps. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969. He also graduated from the Winona-Tech auto body repair program.
He worked for Lewiston Auto in auto body repair. He later went to work for Lewiston Co-op which later became High Plains Co-op, where he has worked since driving LP and fuel truck delivery. Mr. Reps and Linda Degnan were married on May 8, 1971. They recently divorced.
He was a racing fan. He enjoyed softball and played fast-pitch for 25 years. He also enjoyed raising hogs, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and watching his children’s sporting events.
He is survived by three children, Melissa (Tom) Shea of Viola, Adam “Boomer” Reps of St. Charles and Mekenzie Reps of St. Charles, one grandson; his fiance, Sandy Nisbit of Lewistion; his former wife, Linda Reps of St. Charles; his father Douglas of St. Charles; three brothers, Kevin “Buzz” Reps and Gene (Peggy) Reps both of Lewiston and Greg (Tammy) Reps of Stockton; four sisters, Deb (Dennis) Kukowski of Lewiston, Kathy (Dennis) Lafky of Rollingstone, Renee (Mark) Potter of Stockton and Sharla (George) Warnken of Rushford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene, and a brother Jerry.
Funeral services were Sept. 14 at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Lewiston. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Marcella ‘Lorraine’ Foehringer
Marcella “Lorraine” Foehringer of Lawrence, Kansas, died Sept. 12, 2004 surrounded by her family. She had lived in Lawrence for the past five years.
She was born Sept. 13, 1922 to Ray and Opal (Egemo) Birkland in Palo Alto County, Iowa.
She married Eugene Foehringer. He died Feb. 28, 1989. Prior to moving to Lawrence she and her late husband, The Rev. Eugene Foehringer, served as missionaries for 35 years in Brazil and South America.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lawrence.
Mrs. Foehringer is survived by five children, their partners and 12 grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Sept. 18 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lawrence, 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Foehringer was cremated, interment will take place at a later date in Seneca, Ill.

Mavis Lorraine Jensson
Mavis Lorraine Jensson, 78, of Rushford, formerly of rural Lanesboro, died Sept. 5. 2004 at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona.
Mavis Lorraine Northouse was born July 14, 1926, in rural Mabel, grew up there, graduated from Mabel High School in 1945 and attended Franklin School of Nursing in Minneapolis. In June 1949, she married Robert Jensson in rural Mabel. Her husband was a farmer. He died Aug. 9, 1960. Mrs. Jensson lived in rural Lanesboro before moving to Rushford in 1969. She worked at Rush Products in Rushford for 25 years.
Survivors include a son, Steven (Bob Percival) of Rochester; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death.
The funeral was Sept. 9 at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, the Rev. Paul Johnson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ruby Marian Knutson
Ruby Marian Knutson, 91, of Rushford and formerly of Lanesboro, died Sept. 3, 2004 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Ruby Jacobson was born Sept. 14, 1912, in rural Lanesboro. She attended school in Grubtown District 8.
She married Oscar Knutson on Oct. 24. 1934, in Peterson. She was a homemaker. They lived in rural Lanesboro and moved into Lanesboro in 1962. He died Sept. 5, 1968. She moved to the nursing home in Rushford in 2002. She was a member of Elstad Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Sharon) of Lanesboro; one daughter, Dorothy (Royce) Bergsgaard of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and five sisters.
The funeral was Sept. 6 at Elstad Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, the Rev. Wade Davick officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Cheryl Sather
Cheryl Sather, 57, died Saturday (Aug. 21, 2004) following an automobile accident on Aug. 18.
She was born June 1, 1947, at Madison, Minn. to Stanley and Charrie (Johnson) Sather. She grew up on a farm in Garfield Township, rural Madison.
She graduated from Madison High School and Concordia College. She earned her master’s degree at the University of Minnesota.
She had taught fourth grade in Fridley for 34 years, retiring in 2003.
Miss Sather is survived by her parents, Stanley and Charrie Sather of Madison; a brother Dean; a sister Joan; nieces; nephews. She is the niece of Bob and Vera Gahnz of Rushford.
A memorial service was held at St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church in Fridley on Aug. 29.
