Zachary Kafka
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ortonville High School Gym for Zachary Kafka.

Rev. Marlene Elmstrom officiated at this service.

A private interment will be held at a later date at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Odessa.

Zachary Steven Kafka was born on Sept. 13, 1985, in Faribault, to parents Dan Kafka and Cindy Christensen.

Death came suddenly of natural causes to Zach, July 27 at his home in Ortonville. He had only reached the age of 18 years, 10 months and 14 days.

In life Zach enjoyed playing goalie for the hockey team, cherishing his shut-out game against Huron, SD, bowling on the Ortonville Men’s Bowling League this past year and having his team finish in first place, with Zach scoring a league high 267.

Dena A. Boldenow
Funeral services for Dena Boldenow of Montevideo, formerly of Chokio, were held Wednesday, July 28th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Chokio.

Reverend Paul Erdal officiated.

Burial was at the Artichoke Lutheran Cemetery near Chokio.
Dena Amalia Boldenow, daughter of Magnus and Anna (Henrickson) Thompson, was born May 4, 1920 at her parents’ home in Otrey Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris was in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Elvecrog
Memorial services were held on Friday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church of Ortonville, for Gary Elvecrog.

Rev. Marlene Elmstrom officiated at this service. Congregational songs were sung, with Marilyn Hanson at the organ.

Military Honors were provided by the Big Stone American Legion Post 229.

Death came to Gary after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Ortonville Hospital.

He had reached the age of 59 years, one month and 25 days.

Mary Lynn Goblirsch
Mary Lynn Halverson Goblirsch was born in LaCrosse, WI on July 13, 1944 to Mary A. and John G. Halverson.

Preceding her in death were her father, John, and her sister, Nancy Lee Pierce.

Mary Lynn Halverson Goblirsch is the sister-in-law, of Father Bob Goblirsch, pastor of St. John Catholic Church, Ortonville, MN 56278.

Mary Lynn died July 19, 2004 at Midwest City OK.

Cpl Demetrius Lamont Rice
A memorial service for Corporal Demetrius Lamont Rice, 24, of Ortonville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7th, 2004 at Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD.

Interment was previously held on July 22, 2004 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Demetrius enjoyed being with friends, X-box and basketball, as well as spending time with his family.

The Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville is in charge of the arrangements.

Glenn C. Reichert
Glenn C. Reichert was born Nov. 13, 1915 in Lac qui Parle County, to parents Delmar and Helena (Bethke) Reichert. Glenn graduated from Ortonville High School. Glenn and Violet A. VonEschen were married June 14, 1940.

Following graduation Glenn moved to Clarkfield and operated Standard Oil. He sold the business in 1943, when he entered the military. Glenn was in the United States Navy from 1943-1945.

Glenn returned to Clarkfield following his discharge. He worked for Winge Ford until 1949 when he and Haines Ford built (what is now the present Post Office building) the "Hudson Dealership". He had the Ford Motor dealership in the same location from 1958-1965.

In 1977 he became a full-time mail carrier, after substituting for 22 years. He retired from the Post Office in 1980. Glenn moved to Starbuck (Lake Minnewaska) following the death of his wife, Vi, in 1987. Glenn loved flowers, gardening, and music. He was very instrumental in getting the Senior Nutrition Center built in Glenwood. He was member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church and the American Legion of Glenwood.

Glenn passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Home at the age of 88 years, eight months and three days.

He is survived by his good friends, Gene and Sherry Kockelman of Clarkfield; their son, Jeff and his family of Eagan; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Vi; brothers Ken and Forest; and sisters Lucille and Elaine.

Perry M. Seely
Perry M. Seely, Jr, 81, of Livingston, died at Livingston Memorial Hospital Monday evening, June 28. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Lyndon Kacick of Grace United Methodist Church officiating.
Cremation followed the service.

He was born March 25, 1923 in Staples, the son of Perry M. and Eva A. (Pride) Seely.

Inez Thompson
Inez Antoinette Thompson, 95, of Sun City, AZ, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004.

She was born June 14, 1909 in Sleepy Eye.
She played the oboe on high school band and continued to play in college in Winfield, KS and at the Moorhead State Teachers College in Moorhead. She taught elementary school music in Crystal Lake.

She met her husband Tommy in Fargo-Moorhead while Tommy was attending Concordia College and they were married June 16, 1934.

They moved to Ortonville in 1941 then to Torrance, CA in 1962 where she taught preschool before retiring to Sun City, AZ in 1972.

She was involved in the Pops Band and the Sun City Concert Band playing the Oboe. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and a member of the choir as well. Music was an important part of her life, up until her death she continued to play the oboe and sing in the church choir.

Survivors include her daughter Kay of San Diego, CA and son John of Hopkins. Twelve grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy, daughter Janet and son Rick.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 12, 2004 at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Boulevard in Sun City, AZ.
