Marian Jean Sellner, 66, of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at her home. Services are Thursday, March 9, 10:30 a.m., St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m., both at the funeral home on Wednesday.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Sellner of Sleepy Eye; children Scott and wife Susan Sellner of Jefferson City, Missouri; Stephanie and husband Carl Benson of Byron; Sandra and husband Phil Nauman of Spring Valley; and Michael and wife Janice Sellner of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; six sisters, Barbara Sliger of California; Virginia Schroeder of Texas; Karen Huettl of North Mankato; Linda Brennan of Eagan; Judy Paulson of Sleepy Eye; and Dianne Fischer of Bloomington; two brothers, Roger Klein of Sleepy Eye, and Gerald Klein of California; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Klein of Sleepy Eye. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Bill.
Marian Jean was born on June 5, 1933, to Otto W. and Dolores (Wagner) Klein, in Sleepy Eye. She grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye, where she graduated in 1951 from St. Mary's High School. Marian attended St. Theresa's College in Winona for one year. Following her dad's death, she returned to Sleepy Eye to help her mom raise her siblings. On Oct. 20, 1953, Marian was united in marriage to Roger Sellner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Sleepy Eye. Marian worked at the Divine Providence Community Home for many years and for five years until her retirement at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital as a secretary. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mother's Society, CCW, and the Divine Providence Auxiliary. Her hobbies included sewing, embroidering and gardening.
Casket bearers were James Klein, Scott Sellner, Phil Nauman, Michael Sellner, Carl Benson and Eric Benson.

Harriet Haugen, 80, of Hanska, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at the Madelia Community Hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond of Hanska; daughters, Sharon and husband Arleigh Richardson, Jr. of Cleveland, Minn., Charlene and husband Mike Ogle of Melrose, Valline and husband Jim Sellner of Sleepy Eye; son, Cameron Haugen of Hanska; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gladys Hayes and Lorraine Schultz, both of St. Peter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Harmon Haugen.
Harriet Sybil, the daughter of Hans and Sarah (Nundahl) Vegheim, was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Linden Township, Brown County. She grew up on the family farm and attended Hanska High School. Following her graduation from high school, she attended beauty school in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Raymond Haugen Sept. 16, 1939, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church parsonage. They made their home in Linden Township, where her husband farmed. She worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, and was a member and past president of the Hanska American Legion Auxiliary.

Lester P. Weber, 84, of Gibbon, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home. Mass of Christian burial was Wednesday, March 15 at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon, with burial in the St. Willibrord Cemetery in Gibbon. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Angeline Weber of Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Marian and William Schmitz of Alexandria, Doris and James Zitzmann of Gibbon, Elaine and Donald Kenyon of Henning, Janette and James Scoates of Redwood Falls, Donna and Larry Frederickson of New Ulm, Barbara and Keith Foster of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and LuAnn Weber of Brownton, David and Carole Weber of Stockbridge, Georgia, Leon and Juliette Weber of Winthrop, Marvin and Jane Weber of Lafayette, Ronald C. Weber of Winthrop, Richard Weber and Dennis Weber of New Ulm, Paul and Dawn Weber of Lafayette; 42 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Weber of Gibbon; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Joseph Weber in 1999.
Lester was born Oct. 18, 1915 in Gibbon to Sebastian and Mary (Hrdlicka) Weber. He attended country school. He started farming in 1938 on his own. Lester married Angeline Sellner on May 7, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage, they farmed in rural Gibbon until he retired in 1979. They moved in to Gibbon in 1983.
Lester was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and the St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Society. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Elaine C. Ladd, 75, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital. Services were March 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Sturm Funeral Home of Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
She is survived by her son, Alan and wife Cathy Ladd of Stevens Point, Wis.; daughter, Colleen Ladd and husband Dr. Richard Kokkila of Willmar; four grandchildren, Daven and Sara Kokkila, Jocelyn Ladd and Jessica Huggins; sister, Carrie Schenk of Sleepy Eye; and brother, Victor and wife Dorothy Christensen of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Francile in 1969; husband, Raymond in 1987; and brother, Jens in 1987.
Elaine was born on Dec. 25, 1924, in Eden Township, Brown County, the daughter of Martin and Marie (Petersen) Christensen. She attended country school and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School. On Oct. 23, 1942, Elaine was united in marriage to Raymond Ladd in Redwood Falls. The couple made their home and farmed in Leavenworth Township. Elaine worked at 3M in New Ulm and also at Del Monte Corporation in Sleepy Eye for many years. Raymond preceded her in death in 1987. Elaine was very active in 4-H, Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, and several card clubs. She particularly enjoyed traveling with her husband and brother and sister-in-law. She loved the outdoors and had a special affinity for birds. She had only kindness directed to her many friends. Elaine's grandchildren were always a dominant part of her thoughts and she loved them deeply.

Edwin L. Braulick, 77, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at his home. Services are Thursday, March 30, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Military rites will be performed by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline of Sleepy Eye; children, Carol Olson of Plymouth., Gerald and wife Carol Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Dennis and wife Dianne Braulick of New Ulm, Shirley and husband Mike Haala of New Ulm, Loren and wife Laurie Braulick of Sleepy Eye, and Darlene Braulick of Sleepy Eye; 15 grandchildren; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Veronica Groebner of Sleepy Eye, Harold and Margaret Braulick of New Ulm, Roman and Phyllis Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Florence and Lyle Windschitl of Lafayette, Agnes and Robert Gleisner of New Ulm, Alfred and Lorraine Braulick of Sleepy Eye., and Delores and Dennis Franta of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother in infancy; brother-in-law, Valentine Groebner; and mother-and father-in-law, Raymond and Gertrude Ludewig.
Edwin Lawrence was born April 11, 1922, in Sigel Township, Brown County, the son of Anton and Amelia (Berg) Braulick. He entered the U.S. Army in October of 1942 and left for overseas duty in February of 1943, serving during World War 11 in the 32nd Division (Red Arrow) and was discharged in October of 1945. Eddie married Adeline Ludewig on June 25, 1946, at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Eddie was born and died on the farm that was his current home.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and the Isaacs-Radl VFW Post #800 of Sleepy Eye. Eddie was active in farming his entire life. He enjoyed fishing, old time music and winters in Arizona.
Casket bearers are Lee Haala, Larry Haala, Dale Braulick, Jeff Braulick, Gary Braulick, and Joshua Braulick. Honorary casket bearers are Lisa Haala, Curt Braulick., Travis Braulick, Pamela Braulick, Tracy Olson, Riley Braulick, Cody Nachreiner, Carrie Braulick and Derek Nachreiner.

Dennis Bertrand, 80, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, died March 28, 2000, at Nanticoke.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Hasinus); daughters, Diane, Sharon and Charlene; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Roman of The Dalles, Oregon, Clarence of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Kenny of Sioux Falls; and sister, Elizabeth Walsh of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Jr.; brother, Edward; and sisters, Florence Carroll, Rosella Zeren and Eleanorea Hill.
Dennis was born in Cobden, the son of the late J. P. Ed and Catherine Bertrand. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Leora J. Clausen, 82, of St. James died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at St. James Health Services Hospital. Services were Wednesday, April 5, at Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James, with interment in the church cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home of St. James handled the arrangements.
She is survived by very special friend, Sylvester Weiss of St. James; two daughters, Darla and husband Gerald Kriesch of Howard Lake, Mary and husband Curtis Olson of St. James; two sons, Lynn and wife Sandie Clausen of Indianapolis, Ind., Kelly and wife Trudy Clausen of Carmel, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Rosella and husband Kerry Clark of Milford, Iowa, Avis Shoemaker of northern California; one brother, Gaylord and wife Vera Martin of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one son, Lyle; infant daughter, LaVee; parents; four brothers, Verle, Glenn, Amos and Arnold; and two sisters, Lula and Mabel.
Leora was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Terrill, Iowa, the daughter of Marion and Ella (Ashbaugh) Martin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith, and attended school in Terrill. In February 1938, she was married to Chester Clausen in Milbank, S.D. They moved to St. James in 1956. Leora was employed at Tony Downs Foods for 25 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, playing cards and gardening. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, puzzle books, and going to garage sales.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and was a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Casket bearers were Mark Clausen, Troy Kriesch, Gerald Kriesch Jr., Ricky Conn, Wayne Possail and Frank Wilhelm.

Frieda Marie Sellner, 84, Sleepy Eye died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Services were Wednesday, April 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home of Sleepy Eye handled the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann and husband Dennis Schumacher of Comfrey; grandchildren,Cindy and husband Terry Kroning of Rochester, Brian and wife Janis Suess of Sedalia, Colo., Tammy Suess of New Ulm, Denise and husband Tabor Hoek of Balaton, Kim and husband Bruce Clement of Butterfield, Pam and husband Trent Hoek of Mountain Lake; great-grandchildren, Eric and Jenna Kroning, Dustin and Heidi Clement, Kelsey, Kasey, Shadrick, and Jaden Hoek; sisters, Veronica Coners of Madelia, Monica Loughan of La Crosse, Wis.; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred, in 1968; son-in-law, Donald Suess in 1969; brothers, Max, Joe, Otto, Leonard and Henry; sisters, Rose, Clara, Laura and Marie.
Frieda was born May 19, 1915, in Bashaw Township to Henry and Mary (Seidl) Stelzer. She was raised on the family farm. She was baptized at St. Paul's Catholic Church and attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Comfrey. On April 19, 1937, Frieda married Alfred P. Sellner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She worked at several places including Pietrus Produce in Sleepy Eye for 39 years before retiring. Frieda volunteered many hours at Divine Providence Home and the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
She was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and St. Margaret's society.
Casket bearers were Jerry Piehl, Wayne Hillesheim, Marlin Tauer, Herman Sellner, Jr., Nick Hoffmann and Gary Neidecker.

Della L. Cook, 65, of rural Comfrey, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home.
She is survived by her brothers, Donald "Duke" Cook of rural Comfrey, and Mel and wife Marie Cook of rural Comfrey; nieces and nephews, Dawn and husband Dave Nazarenus, Denise and husband Jerry Osborn, Dora Cook and special friend Ron Neidecker, Greg and wife Stacie Cook, Darla and husband Steve Remus, Nellie and husband Dan Wersal, Rick and wife Laurie Cook, Doug and wife Melanie Cook, Annie and husband Darren Huisman, and Jason Cook; 16 grandnieces and nephews; special friends, Minnie Sperl and Arlene Cook; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father in 1947 and her mother in 1977.
Della was born March 20, 1935, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, the daughter of George T. and Barbara (Nowak) Cook. She grew up and helped her parents on the family farm. Della lived with her brother Duke until 1996 when she moved to St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. She enjoyed watching Westerns on TV and listening to country western and old time music. Della especially enjoyed watching sporting events. Her favorites were the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Minneapolis Lakers, North Stars and the Minnesota Gophers basketball and football teams. She also enjoyed taking pictures around the farm and of her nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers are Dawn Nazarenus, Denise Osborn, Dora Cook, Greg Cook, Annie Huisman, Jason Cook, Darla Remus, Nellie Wersal, Rick Cook and Doug Cook.

Rose M. Fischer, 89, of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at St. John's Lutheran Home, Springfield. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a combined Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid rosary at 4 p.m., both at the funeral home on Thursday.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Agnes and Harold Zwaschka of Comfrey, Harold J. Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Donald and Carol Fischer of Austin, Texas, Phyllis Nelson of Newhall, Calif., Alfred A. Fischer, Jr. and special friend Heather Kiger of Manteno, Ill., Dennis and Gail Fischer of Webster, S.D.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Henry "Andy" Rothmeier of Sleepy Eye; sister, Leona (Mrs. Florian) Helget of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Fischer, in 1983; her parents; brothers, Frank, George and Joseph Rothmeier; and sisters, Anna Neidecker, Mary Helget, Katherine Neidecker and Louisa Helget.
Rosella Magdalena was born July 24, 1910, in Sigel Township, Brown County, the daughter of George W. and Helena (Wurtzberger) Rothmeier. She attended District 45 country school in Stark Township and St. Mary's boarding school in Sleepy Eye. After her schooling, she worked as a farm hand and hired girl for several relatives and neighbors. Rose married Alfred A. "Fritz" Fischer on Oct. 1, 1935 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home on a farm in Albin Township until 1972, when they retired and moved to Sleepy Eye.
Rose was an active lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She worked with the altar committee for many years and was an officer and member of the St. Mary's Guild, Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid Association and the Divine Providence Auxiliary. Rose also mended clothing for the missions and volunteered her time at the community clothing bank. She received the Community Service Award in 1985 from the Catholic Aid Association. Rose worked for Leona Helget's catering service and also made many smearkuchen for mission bake sales. She also volunteered at Nex-Tu-Nu and helped her daughter, Phyllis, at Clos-n-Stuf' in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed gardening, sewing-especially pieced quilts, dancing, playing old time music on her button accordion, playing cards, cross word puzzles, baking, cooking and visiting with her family.
Casket bearers are Patricia Ahlers, Brett Fischer, Steven Fischer, Nathan Fischer, Derek Fischer and Darren Sellner.

Clemence Jensen Riedesel, 88, formerly of Evan and Sleepy Eye, died April 14, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Hartleben of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; granddaughter, Lori Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Gallagher; cousins, Shirley Neal of St. Paul, Alice Esby of Minneapolis, and Robert Olson of Canby.
Clemence Jensen was born to J.R. and Marie (Petersen) Jensen of Evan and Sleepy Eye. She was a teacher for 13 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She married George Riedesel in 1946 in Rochester, New York, and they lived in East Irondequoit for 31 years. They then moved to Ocala, Fla., and after her husband died, she moved to Pembroke Pines to be near her daughter. She will be missed terribly, but her legacy of strength, kindness, and faith in God is left to her daughter, her granddaughter, her great-grandchildren and everyone she touched.

Dianne M. Aronson, 43, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL following a courageous battle with cancer. Services were Friday, April 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Greenville, WI., with interment in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Westgor Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Andrew; mother, Mildred Fiebiger of Neenah, WI; two sisters, Arleen and husband Jim Groth of Neenah, and Sharon and husband Daniel Kemnitz of Eldorado,WI.; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Berniece Aronson, of Oshkosh, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Mike and wife Val Aronson and Moris and wife Vicki Aronson, all of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Philip, and an infant nephew.
Dianne was born June 19, 1956, in Sleepy Eye to Philip and Mildred Fiebiger. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. On July 9, 1983, Dianne married Mark B. Aronson at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Menomonee Falls, Wis. Dianne taught at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls from 1980 to 1989. She enjoyed playing piano and organ, singing and directing choir, camping, crafts, decorating, and, most of all, her faith and family.
A memorial has been established.

Mabel Evelyn Hinderman, 83, of Sleepy Eye died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Services were Tuesday, April 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with interment in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Fairfax. Arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin Hinderman of Sleepy Eye; sons, Cliff Hinderman of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Gary and wife Janet Hinderman of Sleepy Eye, and Douglas and wife Mavis Hinderman of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Michelle and husband Jeff Krueger, Melissa and husband Mike Heine, Brandon Hinderman, Jeff Hinderman and fiancee Tammy Sellner, and Ricky Hinderman; sister, Phyllis and husband Clarence Buboltz of Fairfax; brother, Lyle Nelson of New Ulm; and sister-in-law, Christine Nelson of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Nelson; and sister, Lucille Buboltz.
Mabel was born July 8, 1916, in Eden Township, near Morgan, the daughter of Nels and Mary (Discher) Nelson. She grew up and attended country schools in Redwood and Brown counties near Morgan. She married Ervin Hinderman on Sept. 21, 1935, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfax. The couple made their home in Home Township, Brown County, where they lived and farmed for many years. Mabel worked at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye for 20 years. The couple retired in 1975 and remained on the farm until moving to Sleepy Eye in 1998. Mabel was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and sewing.
Casket bearers were Jeff Hinderman, Rick Hinderman, Brandon Hinderman, Jeff Krueger, Mike Heine, David Buboltz, Arnold Hinderman and Kenneth Hinderman.

George William Hagert, 84, formerly of Sanborn died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Divine Providence Home, Sleepy Eye. Services were Monday, April 24, at Sanborn United Methodist Church, Sanborn, with interment in Sanborn City Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his wife Loreen Hagert of Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye; daughters, Janice and husband Ken Jensen of Anoka, Judi and husband Jon Wendt of North Mankato; son, Gary and wife Gail Hagert of Shakopee; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Betty Hagert of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew Hagert; sisters, Tillie Pruell, Margaret Ridler, Ann Korman, Francis Jueneemann and Kate Nachtman.
George was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, to Andrew and Anne (Schotenbauer) Hagert. He attended country school in Johnsonville Township, after which he worked with his father at home. On Sept. 28, 1937, he married Loreen Bittner at the Johnsonville United Methodist Church. The first years of married life they resided near Marshall. In 1951 they moved to Springfield, where George was employed at A.C. Ochs Brick and Tile Co. for five years. In 1956 they moved to Sanborn and George became custodian at the Sanborn school. In addition to his work at the school, George drove school bus for many years. He retired from his custodial position in 1976 and continued to drive bus until 1984. George and Loreen recently moved to Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye. He was a long term member of Sanborn United Methodist Church and enjoyed morning coffee at the local cafe, fishing, visiting with the children who rode his bus, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Todd Hagert, Bill Hagert, Gary Hagert, James Busse, LeRoy Hagert and Gregg Grochel. Honorary casket bearers were Kelly Wendt, Laurie Grochel and Amy Jensen.
