Fern E. Olson, of Trimont, formerly of Jackson and St. James, died Wednesday, April 22, 2001, at Trimont Health Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Trimont.
Visitation is one hour before services at the funeral home.
She is survived by daughter, Carmen Jass and friend Stan Heintz of rural Odin; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Ann Olson of Cedar Falls, Iowa; sister, Carol Olson of St. James; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by husband, David Olson in 1977; sister, Golda; and brothers, Floyd, Russell, Lee, Ulmer, Harold and Donald Wilson.
She was born March 13, 1915, in rural Ormsby, to William and Agnes (Peterson) Wilson. She attended teachers training in Jackson and Mankato State College. She taught in rural schools. She married David Olson on Oct. 10, 1939, in Estherville, Iowa. They farmed in Kimball Township, Jackson County. She also lived in St. James and Jackson. She was a member of Nora Unitarian Universalist Church, Hanska. She was active in the Democratic Farmer Labor party and Farmers Union.

Alice E. Willis, of St. James, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Lakeview Methodist Home, Fairmont.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Marjean and Dennis Breitbarth of Fairmont; grandchildren, Jason and Adam Breitbarth; great-granddaughter, Kallie; sister, Erma Larson of Lead, S.D.; brothers, Tony Sonnabend of St. James; Harvey and wife Luella Sonnabend of St. James, Norbert Sonnabend of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Alice Sonnabend of Butterfield, Charlene Sonnabend of New Ulm, Mildred Borgens of Hill City, Dorothy Firchau and husband Reinhold of Lewisville; brothers-in-law, Harold and wife Terry Williams and Jim Williams.
She was preceded in death by husband, Wilbert; brothers, Elvin, Harold and Dick Sonnabend; and sister, Jeanette Christianson.
She was born Aug. 11, 1923, in St. Peter, to Herman and Bertha (Trebesch) Sonnabend. She married Wilbert Willis in St. James on March 11, 1944. She worked at Tony Downs Foods.

Adeline K. Fladmo, 80, formerly of Madelia, died March 26, 2001, in Mesa, Ariz.
She is survived by sons, Lee and Dean of Mesa; sisters, Dorothy Vanderheiden of Alexandria and Lorraine Haberman of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Emily Kunz of Madelia and Irene Wilson of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Claire and Art Kunz of Madelia.
She was born Dec. 18, 1919 in Madelia. She belonged to Holy Cross Womens' Guild, Catholic Daughters of America court 2164 and the Catholic Daughters in New Ulm before moving to Arizona.
Memorials can be sent to the Fladmos, 1137 W. Emelita Ave., Mesa, AZ 85210.

Viola H. Manderfeld, 97, of St. James, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Care Center, St. James.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with burial in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Comfrey.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James. A Christian mother's rosary will be at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Viola is survived by a daughter, Dorma Mae Johnson of St. James; a son and daughter-in-law, Delane and Murilyn of Evanston, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son Donald in infancy; two sons-in-law, Dale Giese and Earl Johnson; a sister, Isabelle Hudson; a brother, Roman Laux; and a great-grandson, Derek Rettke.
She was born to Joseph and Katherine (Schmitt) Laux on July 19, 1903 in Mulligan Township, Brown County. She received her education at a country school near her home. She was baptized and raised in the Catholic faith, and made her first communion at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
She married John Manderfeld April 12, 1926, in Comfrey. They lived in Comfrey. He died on May 2, 1992. She was a member of Christian Mothers and St. James Council of Catholic women. In 1983, she moved to an apartment in St. James, and entered Pleasant View Good Samaritan Village in St. James in April of 1999.

Cecilia M. Bieraugel, 87, of Medford, Ore., formerly of New Ulm, died
Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at the Medford Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.
A memorial Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.
Inurnment will take place in New Ulm at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Providence Foundation-Hospice, 1600 E. McAndrews, Medford, OR 97504.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Bieraugel of Medford; daughters, Dr. Jean Bieraugel of Eagle Point, Ore., and Lois Bucak of Palos Hills, Ill., five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, three sisters and two brothers.
She was born May 12, 1913 in New Ulm. She married Raymond Bieraugel on Sept. 16, 1935, in New Ulm. She had lived in the Rogue Valley of Oregon since June 1996.
Arrangements were made by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives & Crematory, Medford, Ore.

Nels E. Pierson, 66, of Butterfield, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Long Lake Lutheran Church, with burial in the Butterfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Nels is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughters, Christina Pierson of Minneapolis and Erika Pierson of Mankato; sons, Anders Pierson and his wife Sheila of Butterfield, and Nels Pierson and his wife Nicole of Oronoco; sisters, Beverly Ahern and her husband Larry of Kasson, Ruby Ekstrom and her husband Eldon of Butterfield, Vivian Blomgren and her husband Clarence of Mountain Lake, and Eloise Zellmer and her husband Leo of Waterville; one brother, Leland Pierson and his wife Marilyn of Trimont; sisters-in-law, Allegra Fredrickson and her husband Richard of Woodbury, Patricia Norhausen and her husband David of Woodbury, Barbara Tomlinson and her husband Richard of Granada, Beverly Welchlin and her husband Vance of St. James, and Mary Petrisko and her husband John of Stillwater, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Johanna Kay.
Nels Elwood Pierson was born May 25, 1934 in Antrim Township rural Lewisville, to Nels and Anne (Sanders) Pierson. He moved to Butterfield Township at the age of four, where he resided until his death. Nels was baptized at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James and was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church of Butterfield. He graduated from Butterfield High school and served in the United States Marine Corps from August 1953 to August 1955. He married Kathleen Peterson on June 18, 1960 at the First Lutheran Church of Butterfield. Nels had been a member of ADA, DHIA, BTA, VFW, Butterfield Cemetery Association, American Guernsey Association, MN Guernsey Association, and the Southwest Guernsey Association. He was also an adult 4-H leader, on the Long Lake Church Council, and an honorary FFA member.

August Prellwitz, 71, of Buffalo Lake died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Cosmos Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour prior to service at the church.

Elizabeth M. 'Betty' Welch, 95, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arlington, with burial in St. Brendon Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation will be one hour prior to mass Thursday, with Rosary prayer service at 9:30 a.m.
Survivors include sister Margaret "Peg" Gillespie of Arlington; sister-in-law Irene Welch of Minnesota Lake; and special niece and nephew, Margaret and Thomas Lubitz of Delavan.

Harvey A. Sonnabend, 70, of St. James died on Saturday, April 14, 2001, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in St. Matthew's section of Butterfield City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at Pease Funeral Home in St. James, and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife Luella of St. James; sons, Gregg (Scott) of Kasson, Timothy and wife Brenda, Chad and finance Jody Radloff, all of Darfur, and Mark and wife Brenda of North Mankato; stepson Marlin Eineke of Perry, Iowa; stepdaughters, Laurel and husband Joel Hultgren of St. James, and Lynette and husband Mark Krakowski of Rochester; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Erma Larson of Lead, S.D.; brothers, Anton (Tony) Sonnabend of St. James, Norbert Sonnabend of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Charlene Sonnabend of New Ulm, Alice Sonnabend of Butterfield, Dorothy Holmgren of Roseville; brother-in-law, Richard and wife Pat Anderson of Newport; and several nieces, nephews, and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; brothers, Alvin, Arnold, and twin Harold; and sisters, Jeanette Christianson and Alice Willis.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1930, to Herman B. and Bertha W. (Trebesch) Sonnabend in South Branch, near St. James. He attended school in South Branch and served in the U.S. Army. He spent most of his life farming in the St./ James and Butterfield area. He married Shirley Anderson on July 28, 1957, at Albert Lea. After Shirley died, he married Luella Eineke on June 26, 1993, in St. James. He retired in 1997. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James.

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Welch, 95, of Arlington and formerly of LeSueur died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington with burial in St. Brendan Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation is one hour before the mass Thursday at the church. There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Fenske Funeral Homes, Arlington.

Lloyd L. Wandersee, 77, of Redwood Falls died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home Chapel, Redwood Falls with burial in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Monday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Elda of Redwood Falls; children and spouses, Linda and Hilding Knutson, Lois Millerbernd, Randy and Wanda Wandersee, and Cindy Stangby and special friend Michael Hyatt; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Harvey.
He was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Morgan to Gilbert and Bonita (Tretbar) Wandersee. He attended country school near Morgan. He married Elda Loock on June 3, 1945, at the family farm in Redwood Falls Township. He worked on the family farm near Redwood Falls several years before working on a farm near Bird Island for four years. He returned to the Redwood Falls area and worked at Redwood Concrete Products for 34 years. After retiring, he served as sexton at the Redwood Falls Cemetery.

Helen McClellan, 84, of Tracy, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Tracy Area Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy with burial in the Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Jan McClellan of New Ulm, Brian and Karen McClellan of Fargo, N.D., Rich and Mary Jo McClellan of Fargo, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dave Thraen of Waynesville, N.C.; three sisters; nieces, nephews and cousin.
She was preceded in death by daughter Connie Thraen and three brothers.
She was born April 29, 1916, to Roney and Margaret (Illg) Thilges in West Bend, Iowa. She married Dale McClellan on Oct. 18, 1936, in Brookings, S.D. They operated a cafe in Tracy. She worked for the Ben Franklin store and Ken's Super Valu. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home in January 2000.

Paul R. Tierney, 69, of Madelia, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St, Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia with burial in Calvary Cemetery Madelia.
Visitation is 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia.
He is survived by sister, Kathleen Mosser and husband Robert of Madelia; sisters-in-law, Ida Tierney and Audrey Tierney both of Madelia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
He was born June 22, 1931, to Patrick and Katherine (McMorrow) in Fieldon Township, rural Madelia. He attended Madelia Schools. He worked in farming for a time and later did various part-time jobs. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia.

August Prellwitz, 71, of Buffalo Lake, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Cosmos, Healthcare Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Hector with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his brother, Richard Prellwitz and wife Beatrice of Hutchinson; sisters, Joann Streeter and husband Lloyd of Hector, Lorraine Rote and husband Bill of Askov, Phyllis Hubert and husband Marvin of Paynesville; and by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Donald Hasser; and three nephew.
August Gordon Prellwitz was born May 16, 1929, at Litchfield, to August Joseph and Mary Frances Heimovich Prellwitz. He attended school in Buffalo Lake. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 in Korea. He lived and farmed in Preston Lake Township.

Clifford Roiger, 58, of Hutchinson, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at his home in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with a 40 and 8 Memorial Service at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Lela Roiger of Hutchinson; daughters, Darla Wilde and her husband Doug of Hutchinson, Daneen Johnson and husband Daryl of Cokato; sons, Donald Roiger and his wife Laurie of Princeton, Daryl Roiger and his wife Susan of Hutchinson; stepson, Jim Hines and his wife Jeanné of Dennison; son-in-law, Jesse Delgado of Martindale, Texas; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his, wife, Janice in March 1999; his parents, LeRoy and Margaret Roiger; wife, Janice Roiger; daughter, Dawn Delgado; and granddaughter, Brittany Wilde.
He was born Dec. 2, 1942, in Sanborn, to LeRoy and Margaret (Haas) Roiger. He graduated from Sanborn High School. He joined the Minnesota National Guard in 1960. He married Janice Westerlund on Nov. 11, 1961, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lamberton. They lived in St. James and moved to Hutchinson in 1968. He worked as an exterminator, a contractor, and as manager at the American Legion Club for 10 years. After the death of his first wife, he married Lela Worden on July 7, 2000, in Redwood Falls. He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the Brownton Rod and Gun Club, Gopher Campfire, the Hutchinson American Legion and the 40 and 8 Club.
