Janet Hillard
Janet Kay Hillard, age 44, a resident of Motley, MN, died October 16, 1998, at home.

Funeral services were held October 20 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, MN, with Pastor Mark Batson officiating. Burial was in the Motley Public Cemetery.

Janet was born November 10, 1953, in Staples to Clarence and Marie (Collison) Allee. It was in the Staples and Motley areas that she grew up and attended schools. The past few years, she worked in customer service at Wal-Mart in Baxter, MN. Janet enjoyed reading, watching TV and listening to music.

Survivors include her three daughters, Angela Kasten of Motley, Melissa Hillard and Jennifer Hillard, both of Alexandria, MN; three grandchildren, Michael Kasten III, Clint Kasten and Jordan Hillard; her mother, Marie Allee of Motley; three sisters, Alice Erickson of Staples, Bonnie Smythe of St. Paul, MN, and Arlene Owen of Staples; two brothers, Arthur Allee of Verndale, MN, and Earl Allee of St. Paul, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Justine Paige Hillard; her father; three sisters, Joyce, Betty and one infant sister and one brother, Jerry Allee.

Wilbur Stichter
Wilber Allen Stichter, age 66, a resident of Platte Lake, MN, died of cancer on October 17, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held October 21 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN, with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Parish Cemetery.

Wilber was born April 30, 1932, to Wilbur and Frances (Riche) Stichter in Irvington, NJ. He was united in marriage to Shirley Bednarek on September 1, 1955, in Jacksonville, FL. He worked for the Cranford Police Department in traffic maintenance until he retired in 1991. They then moved to Platte Lake in November of 1997. Wilbur was in the Union County Hall of Fame for bowling. He recently bowled in his 25th National Championship. He was also a lifetime member of the Flemington-Raritan Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Platte Lake; sons, Brian Stichter and wife Angel of Princeton, MN, and Allen Stichter and wife Linda of Flemington, NJ; brothers, Richard Stichter and wife Maureen of Toms River, NJ, Gary Stichter and wife Shirley of Palm Coast, FL, and Ronald Stichter of Palm Coast; sister, Janet Brown and husband Don of Maplewood, NJ and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Casketbearers were Allen Stichter, Brian Stichter, Gary Stichter, Ron Stichter, Alvin Hoffman and Lyle Bednarek.

Delores Saehr
Delores Saehr, age 64, a resident of Pierz, MN, died October 20, 1998, at her residence.

Mass of Christian Burial was October 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.

Delores was born March 20, 1934, to Matt and Barbara (Faust) Stuckmayer in Pierz. She worked at Munsingwear until her marriage to Donald Saehr on September 19, 1955. After their marriage, they farmed in Buh Township until retirement. Delores also worked part-time at Wal-Mart and was a member of Christian Mothers. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, baking, crocheting, and loved meeting people at Wal-Mart.

Survivors include her husband Donald of Pierz; sons Dave Saehr and wife Tammy, Duane Saehr and wife Jackie, Dale Saehr and wife Laurie, and Darrel Saehr and wife Amy all of Pierz; eight grandchildren Stacie, Nick, Danny, Scott, Kelsey, Darvin, Randy, and Beth; sisters, Emma Hoffman of Pierz, Seraphine Loidolt of Pierz, MN, Jeanette Schlegel of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Marilyn Flicker of South St. Paul; and brothers, Matt, Gerald, and Melvin Stuckmayer of Pierz; and Clarence Stuckmayer of Farmington, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Tony (Melvina) Lust.

Casketbearers were Tom Saehr, Steve Flicker, Marne Stuckmayer, Mike Stuckmayer, Tom Loidolt, Brian Stuckmayer, Gary Stuckmayer, and Earl Lust and Roger Gau.

Lector was Linda Johnson.
Giftbearers were Stacie, Danny, Nick, Scott, and Kelsey Saehr.

Barbara Sather
Barbara Sather, age 76, a former resident of Royalton, MN and Bowlus, MN, died October 16, 1998, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.

Funeral services were October 19 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Royalton, MN, with Pastor John Rambacher officiating. Burial was at the East Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Amery, WI.

Barbara was born November 1, 1921, to Lee and Jessie (Torgerson) Jones in Cylon, WI. Barbara was united in marriage to Donald E. Sather on July 19, 1942. They resided in St. Paul and moved to Bowlus, MN, in 1948 where they owned the Bowlus Blacksmith Shop. Barbara moved to Royalton in 1981, to Pierz Harmony House in 1993, and then to Sauk Rapids in March of 1998. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid in Royalton, Royalton American Legion Auxiliary, Royalton Senior Citizens, and former member of Bowlus American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include sons, Daryl Sather and wife Leona of Circle Pines, MN, and Neil Sather and wife Mary of Fort Ripley, MN; daughters, Judy Zapzalka of St. Cloud, MN, Shirley Kasella and husband Gerald of Silver Lake, MN, Sharon Eickhoff and husband Richard of Holdingford, MN, and Leann Kropuenske and husband Elwyn of Woodbury; brother, Curtis Jones of New Richmond, WI; sisters, Lorraine Palewicz of Glenwood City, WI, Marilyn Ringstad of Neilsville, WI, and Joann Jones of New Richmond, WI; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, son Jeffrey, parents and one grandchild.

Casketbearers were Scott Zapzalka, Jeff Eickhoff, Steve Sather, Andy Kasella, Nicole Czeck, and Jason Sather.

Olivia Meyer
Olivia Meyer, age 87, a resident of Pierz, MN, died October 19, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.

Mass of Christian Burial was October 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.

Olivia was born February 15, 1911, to John and Cecilia (Tembruell) Gau in Pierz. She was united in marriage to Christ Meyer on October 6, 1937, in Pierz. Olivia was a homemaker raising four daughters. She also worked for the Star Cafe and Old Bank Restaurant. She purchased the Star Cafe in 1963 which she owned for six years. Olivia loved gardening, was a fast berry picker, loved shoveling snow and mowing lawn. She was a member of Christian Mothers.

Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Burggraff and husband Marvin of Pierz, Luanne Jansen and husband Duane of Blaine, MN, Maureen Bozovsky and husband Robert of Brooklyn Park, MN and Marleen Rusch and husband Eldon of Coon Rapids, MN; sisters, Evelyn Litke of Pierz, and Genny Janson of Pierz; sister-in-law, June Gau of Pierz; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Christ Meyer; parents, Cecilia and John Gau; and brother, Elmer Gau.

Casketbearers were Gary Burggraff, Tom Burggraff, Mark Jansen, Dale Bozovsky, Laura Dather, Raymond Litke and Jake Litke. Honorary casketbearers were Gertrude Kinzer, Tille Boser, Dori Pella , and Dolores Watercott.

Anne B. Rudnitski
Anne B. Rudnitski, age 72, a resident of rural Foley, MN died August 22, 1997, at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services were held August 26 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, MN with Fr. Raymond Schulzetenberg officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Anne Rudnitski was born December 11, 1924, in Verona, SD to I. Henry and Anna (Lippert) Arenkiel. She married Lloyd Rudnitski March 4, 1943, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman. She lived most of her life in the Foley area where she had farmed with her husband. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and was also a past member of the Foley American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son and daughters, A. Carol and Gary Marks, Whittier, CA, Lonita Fortier, St. Paul, MN, Diane and Richard A. Watkins, West Jordan, UT, Kathleen and Gerald Petron, Royalton, MN, and Roger and Laurel, New Prague, MN; brother and sisters, Edna Meline, Sheridan, WY, Burnette Heatherington, Ft. Dodge, IA, Donna Bartkowicz, Bowlus, MN, Nina Beehler, Rockford, IL, and Walter Arenkiel, Foreston, MN; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, April 8, 1993; a daughter, Debra; brothers and sisters, Bud, Ed, Irvin and Daro Arenkiel, Lillian Forschen, Renee Johnson, Leylla Hyland and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Greg Fortier, Robert Petron, Michael Petron, Mike Rudnitski, Dave Rudnitski and Larry Rudnitski.

Berniece J. Diebel-Korale

Berniece J. Diebel-Korale, age 68, a resident of Little Falls, MN formerly of Long Prairie, MN, died August 23, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held August 26 at the First Baptist Church in Long Prairie with Rev. Jan J. Bosman officiating. Burial was in the Long Prairie Cemetery.

Berniece J. Diebel - Korale was born March 11, 1929, in Long Prairie to the late Henry and Anna (Meincke) Gmeiner. She grew up in Long Prairie and graduated from the Long Prairie High School. Berniece was united in marriage to Dwight L. Diebel on June 25, 1947, at the Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. She worked at Peterson’s Variety Store in Long Prairie until 1954. The couple continued to reside in Long Prairie until moving to Little Falls in 1962. Dwight L. Diebel passed away on July 23, 1976. Berniece was united in marriage to Donald Korale on December 24, 1995, in Nevada. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and dancing. Berniece was a member of the Eastern Star Alpha Chapter #23, Little Falls American Legion Auxiliary and the Little Falls VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband Donald Korale of Mesa, AZ; sons, Roger Diebel and wife Patrice of Preston City, CT, Charles Diebel and wife Jill of Little Falls, Paul Diebel and wife Becky of Little Falls and Wayne Diebel of Little Falls; daughters, Jan Martinson and husband Curt of Randall, MN, Patricia Inabnett and husband Mark of Cokato, MN, Sandra Forster and husband Jim of Big Lake, MN, Mary Peine and husband Dan of Randall, MN, Diane Diebel of Clear Lake, MN; sisters, Sally Schmidt of Swanville, MN and Esther Claseman of Long Prairie; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dwight Diebel, infant son, Douglas, parents and brothers, Elmer, Lawrence and Ervin Gmeiner.

Pallbearers were her sons, Roger, Charlie, Paul and Wayne Diebel; sons-in-laws, Curt Martinson and Jim Forster.
