VANDALIA - Leota B. Hamlett, 98, of Vandalia, died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Roger Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at the Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Hamlett was born June 13, 1906, in Estes to Charles and Cassie Hagood Thompson.

She was married to Sylvan Hamlett on July 2, 1928, in Bowling Green. He preceded her in death Aug. 10, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, S. Wayne Hamlett and Vaughn L. Hamlett, both of Vandalia; and five grandchildren, Randy Hamlett of Owasso, Okla., Shelly McAfee, Joey Hamlett and Lisa Otis, all of Vandalia, and Kelly Smith of Perry and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Hurley Thompson; and three sisters, Nellie Atkinson, Della Martin and Leola Trower.

Bradley G. Weatherby
Spencersburg
Oct. 1, 1925 - Dec. 2, 2004

BOWLING GREEN - Bradley G. Weatherby, 79, of Spencersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 4, at Spencersburg Cemetery. David Steadman will officiate.

The Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weatherby was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Pettigrew, Ark., to Henry and Millie Fulton Weatherby.

Survivors include one son, Tommy Weatherby of Kansas City; one brother, Willis Weatherby of Louisiana; and two sisters, Freda Hoalgland of Ozark, Ark., and Nadie Gilbert of Troy.

He was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Weatherby; his parents; two brothers, Robert Hill and Lloyd Weatherby; and one sister, Agnes Crenshaw.

Mr. Weatherby was a truck driver for Dundeer's at Clarksville.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Anne Wiley White Lucke
Palmyra
Dec. 14, 1916 - Dec. 1, 2004

PALMYRA - Anne Wiley White Lucke, 87, of Palmyra, died peacefully at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at her home west of Palmyra on Route C.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Palmyra. The Rev. Warren Crews will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Dec. 3, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Mrs. Lucke was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Quincy, Ill., the elder daughter of Alonzo and Sadie Anna Wiley White.

She was married to Herbert F. Lucke on June 22, 1941, in Palmyra. He survives of the home.

She is also survived, and will be greatly missed, by their three children, Alan F. Lucke of Corpus Christi, Texas, David W. Lucke of Sioux City, Iowa, and Elizabeth L. Thomas of Florissant; eight grandchildren, Erin, Jay, Heather Schneider, Jeanne, Christopher and Patrick Lucke, and Timothy and Stuart Thomas; two great-grandsons, Cameron Thomas and Andrew Schneider; her sister, Louise Kaiser of Palmyra; four nieces; one nephew; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Lucke had been a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church, first at St. Paul's in Palmyra, then at St. Timothy's in St. Louis, before returning to Palmyra in 1990.

She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1934, and attended Kirksville State Teachers College and Central Methodist College. She earned her bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She began teaching at Little Union School.

She and her husband lived in St. Louis and Jacksonville, Fla., during World War II, then returned to Palmyra to make their home and raise their children. She returned to teaching in 1954, and taught at Palmyra Elementary School for two years, after which she joined her husband at their Maytag store in Hannibal. They then moved to St. Louis, where they lived from 1971 to 1990.

Mrs. Lucke had been an active member of the Pierian Club and a founding member of P.E.O., Chapter IE, in Palmyra. While they lived in St. Louis from 1971 to 1990, she served in several offices in the P.E.O., Chapter IF, and was active in St. Timothy's Episcopal Church E.C.W., and a member of the Cathedral Chapter of the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Missouri. She and her husband were also active members of the Christian Fellowship League in Palmyra.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Hospice or P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund.

Pallbearers will be Alan James Lucke, Christopher W. Lucke, Patrick E. Lucke, Timothy B. Thomas, Stuart A. Thomas and Andrew J. Kaiser III.

Stella A. Reeves

Stella A. Reeves, 90, of Hannibal died at 8:52 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 2 at Fountain Court Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Funeral services are pending at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Virginia Crabtree

MONROE CITY - Virginia Crabtree, 60, of Hannibal and formerly of Stoutsville, died at 10:36 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the home of her daughter, Diana Foubester, in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Garner Funeral Chapel in Monroe City. The Rev. Dorothy Reed will officiate. Burial will be at Stoutsville Cemetery.

Edna Mae Pierceall
Hannibal
Oct. 7, 1930 - Dec. 2, 2004

HANNIBAL - Edna Mae Pierceall, 74, of Hannibal, died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Holy Family Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn and Father Pat Pierceall will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. today, Dec. 3, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Mrs. Pierceall was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Maryville to Edward M. and Mary Ann McLarney O'Day.

She was married to Harold J. Pierceall in 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1990.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lori Fohey (Mark) of Hannibal and Barb A. Carroll of Springfield, Mo.; three sons, John Pierceall (Kristi) of Hannibal, Ron Pierceall (Jane) of St. Louis and Jim Pierceall of Milton, Iowa; one sister, Eileen Cox of St. Joseph; one brother, John E. O'Day (Eleanore) of Easton; and 12 grandchildren, Caleb, Laken Pierceall, Matthew Spencer, J. C. Tinker and Charles Pierceall, Stacy, Audra Carroll and Jarod Pierceall, Travis, Michelle, Marcia and Jennifer Fohey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, Adrienne Sue Pierceall, Alexandra Leigh Pierceall and Gary Fohey.

Mrs. Pierceall was the former owner and operator of Pierceall's Shoes for 12 years. She was a member of Holy Family Church and she was active in the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, CCW and the Right to Life.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Pallbearers will be Travis Fohey, J.C. Tinker, Bob Willett, Tim Pierceall, Pat Pierceall, Craig Pierceall, Steve Pierceall and Tom Murphy.

Marjorie H. Shropshire
Rock Island, Ill.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Marjorie H. Shropshire, better known to many as "Nanny", 85, of Rock Island, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum in Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Wheelan Funeral Home in Rock Island, where a Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m.

The former Marjorie Hopkins was born June 1, 1919, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of Herbert and Lillian Britts Hopkins. She was married to Roger Shropshire on June 1, 1941, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death in 1977.

Survivors include the Winstein family of Rock Island; and numerous relatives in Hannibal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Frederick Hopkins.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Island.

Rosalie A. Boschert
Palmyra

PALMYRA - Rosalie A. Boschert, 84, of Palmyra, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Christopher Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Rosalie was born May 22, 1920, in rural Palmyra to Daniel H. and Nellie D. Himmell Begley.

She was married to Milton B. Lockard in 1939. She was later married to Terence E. Boschert on Dec. 16, 1955, in Hannibal. He preceded her in death June 29, 1963.

Survivors include daughters, Marsha McNeal and husband, Jim, Pam Vire and husband, Val, both of Hannibal, and Sheila McLeod and husband, Jim, of Palmyra; sisters, Ruth Sexton, Mrs. Dudley (Mary) McPike, Mrs. Ray (Elsie) Cates and Jean Harrison, all of Palmyra, and Mrs. Oscar (Mildred) Hoenes of Mattoon, Ill.; grandchildren, Theresa (Pat) Thomas, Travis Andrews and fiancée, Tracy Lewis, Stacey (Jason) Crabill, Jodi McLeod and fiancé, Dennis Welty, all of Palmyra, Denise (Richard) Fogle, Craig (Tara) Schnelle, Jamie McNeal, Lisa (Danny) Newland, Justin Hull and Shane (Meredith) Andrews, all of Hannibal; great-grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Beth Thomas, Jacob (Amy) Hull, Nick Hull, Andrew Fogle, Sarah Fogle, Alexaundria Andrews, Zachary Andrews, Bailey Lewis, Blake Lewis, Shelby Andrews, Colton Andrews, Caden Schnelle, Skye Begley, Dakota Martin, Abigail Martin, Ashden Welty, Noah Welty, Lukas Crabill and Kiley Crabill; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Lois Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy D. Kuhn; a granddaughter, Jacqué Schnelle; brothers, Harvey, Harold and Ray Begley; and sisters, Marjorie Wilson and Helen Miller.

Mrs. Boschert worked and lived in Hannibal for most of her adult life. She had co-owned The Red Rooster Restaurant in Palmyra in the mid-1970s. She retired from Hannibal Regional Center as a cook supervisor. She returned to Palmyra upon her retirement. She loved to cook and her rolls, breads, cakes and Christmas candy were loved and enjoyed by family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Palmyra Nutrition Center.

Pallbearers will be Jim McLeod, Jim McNeal, Val Vire, Pat Thomas, Richard Fogle and Brandon Thomas.
