Herbert Dale DeWeese, 75, of Indian Grove, MO died on Monday. July 11, 2005 at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO. He was born on July 29, 1929 at Indian Grove, MO the son of Charles Herbert and Louise Musick DeWeese. Dale graduated from Brunswick High School and then served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1950 - 1953. Dale was married to Shirley Ann Magruder on May 23, 1954 at Richmond, MO. Dale had operated the DeWeese Garage at Indian Grove, MO, he had worked 30 years as Bookkeeper for the PWSD Public Water Supply District #2 Chariton County which he had also been instrumental in the organization of the beginning stages of the water district. Dale had also served 30 years as Bookkeeper of the Indian Grove Contractors, worked 6 years in operations for the Indian Grove Telephone CO and for 17 years he operated the D & S Printing Co. He was a member of the Mendon Christian Church and a member of the Warren Masonic Lodge AF & AM for over 50 years.
Dale is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; one daughter, LuAnne Lee Fowlkes and her husband Vernon of Macon, MO; two sons, Jeffrey Lynn DeWeese and his wife Jill of Brunswick, MO and Robert William DeWeese and his wife Paula of Marceline, MO; one sister, Wanda Lee Kistler of Brunswick, MO; two step-sisters, Elva Dee Duncan of Garland, TX and Joyce Kathrine Barthlomew of Crocker, MO and one step-brother, Lee Wayne Pope of Chilhowee, MO; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his step-mother. Celebration of Life Services were held on Thursday, July 14,2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Mendon Christian Church, Gail Brown officiated. Memorials may be made to the Indian Grove Christian Church Powell Cemetery Fund. Cremation arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.

Alberta Anna Louise Grimpo, 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, was called home to Heaven Thursday, July14, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 27, 1925 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Moeller) Schnare. Alberta was baptized into the Christian faith on January 31, 1926, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She attended Baker and Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Carrollton High School.
Alberta married Raymond Grimpo on June 2, 1943 and they recently observed their 62 anniversary. Raymond preceded her in death July 9, 2005.
In addition to working at Biltmore Trailer Factory, ASCS Office, Mary Ann Flower Shop and PAG Seeds, Alberta’s first loves were her family and working along side her husband and sons in the family farming business. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Carrollton, Missouri and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and Evening Guild.
Alberta is survived by her brother, H. W. Schnare, Carrollton, Missouri; sons, Dale Ray Grimpo and his wife Mary Helen, Carrollton, Missouri, Dwain Grimpo and his wife Phyllis, Reese, Michigan, David Grimpo and his wife Shelley, Carrollton, Missouri; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Raymond, Alberta was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Virginia Vogelsmeier and Mary Elizabeth Carter, and one brother, Martin Schnare.
Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to H.E.L.P. Services Cancer Fund, Immanuel Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Heits Point Lutheran Camp.

Velma Jean Brock, age 77, of Levasy, Mo. passed away Monday July 18, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs, Mo.
She was born January 29, 1928 in Carroll County Mo. the daughter of Walter L. and Lela Long Bowman. On March 12, 1949 she was united in Marriage to John William Brock in Carrollton Mo.
She attended Bogard Grade School and Graduated from Bogard High School. She was a homemaker, housewife and care giver to over a 100 different children.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Santa Fe Trailers and Roadrunners Square Dance Club.
She is survived by her husband John William Brock of the home and five children and their spouses, Linda Brock Levasy Mo. Bob and Laura Brock Independence Mo. Wayne and Sarah Brock Buckner Mo. Janet Reeves Independence Mo. Patty and Steve Dunkle Dover Mo. One sister Alberta Statham, Carrollton Mo. 9 Grandchildren and 4 Greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jeanette Harper in March of 2005
Services will be Friday July 22,2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton Mo. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard Mo. Visitation will be Thursday Evening July 21,2005 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorials to American Diabetes Association. They may be left or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 South Main, Carrollton Missouri 64633.

Raleigh James Plexico, 46, of DeWiitt, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.. Monday, July 25, at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Reverend Lanny Lybarger will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery to DeWitt. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, July 24, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Raleigh Plexico Children's Trust Fund in care of Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, MO, 64633.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1959, in Atlanta, Ga., to Gene and Kathryn Lewellen Plexico. On Sept. 21, 1985, he married Donna Lackland at Brunswick and the union produced four beautiful children. Raleigh started in the tree service trade as a teenager. He began his Proper Tree Care Service and throughout a 30-year period perfected the art of tree trimming, performing tree beautification throughout the surrounding communities. He loved all aspects of the outdoors, as well as a variety of music. He played several instruments in a number of different bands. Raleigh was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was known by all for his good nature and unique sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of the home; three daughters, Tricia Johnson and husband Darren of Brunswick, Mary Plexico and Ellen Plexico, both of DeWitt; one son, James Plexico of DeWitt; mother, Kathryn Plexico of DeWitt; one brother. Mark Plexico and wife Mary Ann of Marshall; one sister, Andrea Manning and husband Matt of Raymore; one half brother, Douglas Plexico of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Raleigh was preceded in by his father.
A celebration of Raleigh's life will be held at the DeWitt Community Center following the funeral.

Lona Bell Boulware, 69, of Carrollton, MO died on Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Liberty Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO on Monday, July 25, 2005 at 1:30 P.M Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, July 24, 2005 from 7-8:30 P.M Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton, MO. Memorials may be made to the Charity of your choice. She was born on December 21,1935 at Miami, MO the daughter of Maryon B. and Blanche 0. Berdahlhoff Dilley. She graduated from Carrollton High School. She married Edward Lee Boulware on April 21, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Mo. He survives her at the home. She had been a Legal Secretary at the Franken Law Office in Carrollton, Mo. She was a member of the McCroskie Creek Baptist Church and the Tina Fiddler's Association. Survivors also include, one sister, Loma Nell Jones of Independence, MO, one nephew Burkett Jones and wife Brenda of Independence, MO, two nieces, Lea Ann Stoneking of Jefferson City, MO and Tonya Preston and husband Jason of Harrisonville, MO, two sisters-in-law, Roberta Stoneking and husband LeRoy of Waverly, MO and Carolyn Sue Fifer and husband Donald of Kingsville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Virginia Williams, 87, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, daughter of Thomas Levi and Ada Frances (nee; Adkins) Sanders was born August 31, 1917 in Wakenda, Missouri and departed this life July 29, 2005 in Cape Coral, Florida.
Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of Carroll County, Missouri. She was a member of the First Christian Church and co-owner of the Huff-Williams Paint and Wallpaper Store. On December 22, 1933 she married Don Williams who preceded her in death in 1998. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ada Sanders, four brothers, Harry, Joe, William, and Ernest Sanders and her son-in-law Robert L. Hood. She is survived by her daughter, Darla J. Hood, of Cape Coral, Florida and grandson Donald Robert Hood of Orlando, Florida along with numerous nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Christian Church, Children Ministries, 205 North Folger, Carrollton, Missouri 64633, Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy. East, Cape Coral, Florida 33909 or charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., at the Gibson Funeral Home, 201 South Main, her final rest will follow to Oakhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 from the hours of 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home.

Glenn D. Yake, age 75, of Bogard, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born June 5, 1930 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Paul and Daisy Yake. He attended Carrollton schools. He was in the United States Navy from 1947-1949.
On July 7, 1949 Glenn married Betty Seek in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home. Glenn was a farmer, mechanic and logger. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton and he was a Methodist.
In addition to his wife Betty, Glenn is also survived by three children, Nina Davis and husband Pat, Carrollton, Missouri, Glenn Yake and wife Becky, Springfield, Missouri, Mark Yake and wife Terry, Brookline, Missouri; one sister, Doris White, Bogard, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Travis Yake, Cody Yake, Tanner Yake, Michael Yake, Taylor Yake, Shelby Yake, Jeff Davis and Lisa Hatcher; and nine great grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Yake, and two sisters, Francis Phillips and Pauline Smith.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Military services will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9-10:15 a.m., on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Charlie William Sprouse, age 80, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 19, 1925 near Braymer, Missouri, the son of Finch S. and Annie Mullins Sprouse. He attended Plymouth School and graduated from Stet High School.
On February 26, 1949 he married Billie Jo Prout in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Charlie was in the United States Navy during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri, where he had served as Post Commander, and the American Legion. He was also a 50 year member of the Wakanda Masonic Lodge #52 AF & AM where he had been a past Master, Navarre Commandry #42, Chillicothe Council #28, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Mason, Ararat Shrine of Kansas City, Carroll County Shrine, Missouri Amphibious Navy and U. S. LST Association. Charlie was a barber, worked for Williams Brothers Pipeline Company and had owned and operated Sprouse Radiator Shop in Carrollton. He had been a councilman for Ward III and was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Missouri.
In addition to his wife Billie Jo, Charlie is also survived by one daughter, Betty Jo Sprouse and husband Weldon, Braymer, Missouri; one sister, Martha McCallie and husband John, Buffalo, Missouri; three brothers, Bob Sprouse and wife Ann, Columbia, Missouri, Johnny Sprouse and wife Cojean, Buffalo, Missouri and Alfred Sprouse and wife Necoe, Bedford, Indiana; one granddaughter, Susan Sprouse and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, four brothers, Ralph, Kenneth, Jo and Eugene and one sister, Mary Wilson, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Joe Barone officiating. Military graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m.

Jeannie Marie Fell, age 61, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born January 23, 1944 in Saline County, Missouri, the daughter of Stephen and Lucille Frazier Fell. She attended schools in Waverly and Carrollton. She had been employed at T. J. Restaurant in Carrollton.
One sister, Martha Adkins, Carrollton, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews survive Jeannie.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Grand Pass, Missouri.
Jeannie will lie in state at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton on Sunday, August 7, 2005 from 1-5:00 p.m.

Nelson A. "Bud" Miles Jr. of Carrollton passed away August 5, 2005.
Bud was born August 1, J 923 in Norborne, MO to Nelson A. and Eva Boyd Miles. As a young man he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Mic-o-Say Tribe. He graduated from Norborne High School and attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He was married to Nancy Waddill on June 14, 1947 and she survives at their home. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1949 with a degree in agronomy after serving in the South Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army's 127th Field Artillery during W.W.II. He was a past member of the Ararat Shrine as well as a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church, Lions Club and lifetime member ofthe University of Missouri Alumni Association. For many years Bud joined his father in a farming operation in Norborne and together they enjoyed raising and showing Missouri Championship mules. At the time of his death he was proudly serving his second term as a member of the Carrollton City Council.
Survivors also include; a daughter, Dianne Hoffmeyer and husband Al, Carrollton, MO; a daughter Debbie Mallory and husband Bill, Leawood KS; two granddaughters, Lori Bultmann, Smithville, MO; Suzanne (Mrs. Stuart) Samples, Chillicothe, MO; a grandson, Marshall Mallory, Overland Park, KS and four great granddaughters. Bud leaves three sisters, Charline Wallace, Indian Park, IL; Mrs. Rosemary Lee and husband Bill, Prairie Village, KS; Mrs. Nancy Maupin and husband Bob, Columbia, MO. Nine nieces and nephews also survive him.
Cremation is planned with family graveside services. A Memorial Service will be held at the Carrollton United Methodist Church on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 1 :30 The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Carrollton Public Library or the Carrollton United Methodist Church.

John Francis Scott, age 72, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born June 22, 1933 in Marceline, Missouri, the son of John and Martha Sellers Scott. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1951. He then attended Chillicothe Business School graduating in 1952. He spent three years in the United States Army stationed in Germany and assigned to Headquarters V Corps. Upon his return in 1955, he attended Texas Christian University and later transferred to the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon graduation he served as Associate Administrator at North Kansas City Hospital and later served as Administrator of a rural hospital in Iowa. He then returned to Kansas City as Regional Director for the American Hospital Association for fifteen years. He relocated to Southern California and assumed a position as Director of Private Practice Clinics for the University of Southern California School of Medicine in which position he remained until retirement and returned to Missouri and Carrollton in 1994. He had also taught an evening business course at the University of La Verne, California.
In Carrollton he served as Coordinator/Manager for the Carroll County Senior Center; had served as Administrator for the Planning and Zoning Board of Carrollton and played the piano weekly at the three long-term care facilities in Carrollton in addition to playing piano and organ at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. He was serving as Chairman for the Carrollton Center for the Arts. He was a member of the American Legion and was Episcopalian by faith.
John is survived by his mother, Martha Chiolerro Magee.
His stepfather, Ben Chiolerro, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 9-9:45 a.m., prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton Area Center for the Arts and may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

James Anthony Olvera, Sr., 42, a resident of Holton, Kansas, died Sunday, August 21, 2005 west of Holton as the result of a car accident.
James was born July 10, 1963 the son of Ines and Jo Ann Olvera of Carrollton, Missouri. He attended Carrollton public schools and graduated in 1981.
As a teenager James worked at Faulk’s Quality Market at Carrollton. He has worked for the U.S.D.A. for the past twenty-one years as a federal meat inspector.
James was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carrollton.
He married Nicki Jean Lumpkins in 1986.
Survivors include his parents, two sons, James Anthony Olvera, Jr. and Jonathan Brock Olvera, both of Higginsville, Missouri; one daughter, Sarah Jean Olvera, Higginsville; a special friend Michele Malloy and her son, Dylan, Holton; two brothers, Ines “Frank” Olvera and Gary J. Olvera, both of Carrollton, three sisters, Tina A. Olvera and Jo Anna Wells, both of Marshall, Missouri, and Susan A. Riley, Carrollton, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 1:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with a Rosary at 8:30 p.m.
The family suggests contributions be made to James’ children’s education fund and may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Emily Faye McBee, age 53, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 at her home.
She was born June 30, 1952 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Lester Emil and Sue Ellen Winover Wise. She graduated from Bosworth High School and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Marshall Vo-tech School. She had worked in area hospitals and nursing homes.
Survivors include one daughter, Jamie Faye Morgan, Foothill Ranch, California, one son, Matthew Aaron McBee and wife Kim, Omaha, Nebraska, four sisters, Leslie Cravens, Cleveland, Missouri, Cathy Bottrell, Sparta, Illinois, Dinah Storm, Bosworth, Missouri, Aimee Brown, Carrollton, Missouri, two brothers, John Wise, Springfield, Missouri and Andrew Wise, Buffalo, New York, two grandchildren, Isaac Aaron and Tessa Ann McBee, several brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, a special friend, Rick McBee, many nieces and nephews and her faithful dog, Karma.
Her father, Lester, and one sister, Martha Stumpenhaus, preceded Emily in death.
Memorial graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri, with Reverend Cheryl Sanders officiating.

Leo P. Grant, age 92, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 4, 1912 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Ella Dolan Grant. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and Carrollton High School. He was a farmer his entire life and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carrollton and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On June 25, 1938 he married Wilda E. Benjamin in Norborne, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1988.
Leo is survived by three children, Richard Grant and Catherine Bickel, both of Carrollton and Steve Grant, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, two sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Carrollton, Missouri, Ruth Peppers, Corder, Missouri, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to his wife Wilda, his parents, one daughter, Virginia Woolf and two grandchildren also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2005 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2005 with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Evelyn P. Pollard, age 64, of Marshall, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005 at the University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
She was born July 24, 1941 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Loren E. and Thelma O. McDonough Wohlgemuth. She attended Bosworth schools.
Evelyn married Ed Smith in March of 1967 at Carroll, Iowa.
She then married Steve Pollard at Marshall, Missouri on June 17, 1994. He survives at the home. Evelyn was employed with Con Agra in Marshall, Missouri as a processor for ten years. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Steve, four children, Charles Gotsch, Mt. Her parents, an infant son and three husbands preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, Stet, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Magdalene Evelyn Appleberry, age 83, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 7, 1922 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of John Adolf and Magdalene Abramoskie Schroeder. She graduated from Waverly High School. Evelyn worked for F. M. Stamper Company and cleaned homes and offices. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton and was a life-long member of the Carroll County Historical Society and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Carrollton.
Evelyn is survived by two children, Jim Appleberry and wife Rita and Carol Bussell and husband David, all of Carrollton, Missouri. One sister, Virginia Schroeder, Gulfport, Mississippi, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, also survives her.
Her parents, one son Harold and one brother, John William Schroeder preceded Evelyn in death.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the funeral home.

Hubert Alfred “Dick” Bittiker, 92, of Brookfield, MO died on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Brookfield. He was born on June 8, 1913 in the Smith Township of Chariton County, MO, the son of John and Emma Smith Bittiker. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1930. He was married to Myra Clifton Biggs on December 31, 1939 by his brother, The Reverend Virgil Bittiker. They were married 63 years when Myra preceded him in death on January 18, 2003. Dick had been the founder of the Mendon Electric Company and had been a former Postmaster at the Mendon Post Office where he retired as a Rural Mail Carrier. He was a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church, the Mendon Lion’s Club and a former member of the Mendon Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Bliss and her husband John of Laguna Woods, CA; a daughter-in-law, Diane Bittiker Hollander of Los Gatos, CA; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was also preceded in death by one son, Paul Bittiker and one sister and six brothers.
Please join the family at the Mendon United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 4, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. for a Celebration of Dick and Myra’s Lives.

Lois Evelyn Smith, age 75, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born April 25, 1930 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde Everett and Sophrona Helen Day Hill. She attended Wakenda and Gray Schools.
On June 6, 1949 she married Billy Haskins Smith at the Christian Church in Richmond, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1997. She was a member of the Wakenda Church of Christ and had worked at the Shoe Factory in Marshall, Missouri.
Evelyn is survived by three children, Holly Gayl Ragan and husband Danny, Vicky Turner and husband Willis, Billy Joe Smith and wife Ramona, all of Carrollton, Missouri, five grandchildren, Amber Jo, Susan and Diane Smith, Randy Ragan and Dottie Turner, five step grandchildren and one brother, Ronald C. Hill, Gower, Missouri, a special friend Cindy McAlister and son Brandon, Carrollton and several cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bruce Trussell officiating.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Dorothy Jean Grove, age 84, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Apple Ridge Care Center, Waverly, Missouri.
She was born March 17, 1921 in Grand Pass, Missouri, the daughter of William and Anna Warren Neer. She graduated from Waverly High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, playing cards and reading. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Waverly, the Hazel Hill Extension Club and the Waverly United Methodist Women.
On September 16, 1945 she married Daniel Grove in Blackburn, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1995.
Three children, Danna Wolf, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Janice Pinch, Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Gary Grove, Waverly, Missouri, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive Dorothy.
Her parents, one brother, Roy Neer and one sister, Lucille Trent, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the United Methodist Church of Waverly with Reverend Bob Payne officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri.

Mary Lloyd Van Deventer Walker, age 98, of El Monte, California, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at her home.
She was born September 27, 1906 at Miami Station, Missouri, the daughter of Tad and Anna Clara Thies Van Deventer. She attended Wakenda and DeWitt elementary schools and graduated from Carrollton High School.
In 1930 Mary was married to William Lee Walker in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1988. She was a devoted housewife and mother and worked at the Stanford Laundry during the depression. She was a member of the DeWitt Christian Church.
Mary is survived by four children, Anna Pearl Paquin, El Monte, California, Bettie Lee Sawatzky, Carrollton, Missouri, Mary Ellen Holbert, El Monte, California, James Thomas Walker, Springfield, Missouri, one sister, Ethel Mae Ammon, Sacramento, California, two step sisters, Betty Ruth Nichols, Carrollton, Missouri, Annetta Hartwig, Marshall, Missouri, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Ray Walker, a son Billy Lloyd Walker, two brothers, Bud and John Van Deventer and one sister, Kathryn Ward.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., Friday, before the service.
