Betty Ruth DeWeese, 78, formerly of Brunswick, died on Sunday, February 12, 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on August 2, 1927 at the family farm just south of town to Otto and Erie (Smith) Susewind. She attended grade school and high school in Brunswick. Following her graduation in 1945, Betty continued to live and work in the area. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Kansas City Power & Light office in Brunswick for about three years.
Betty then decided to marry someone she had known since childhood, Harry DeWeese (also of Brunswick). They were married on January 21, 1949 at Dalton, Missouri. A few years later, the couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri. In December 1956, they relocated to "sunny" Arizona.
Betty was primarily a homemaker after moving to Arizona. She loved to garden and planted numerous trees at their home in Phoenix. She will be remembered as a very kind and caring person; always willing to help someone in need.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years; two sons, David DeWeese and Gary DeWeese, both of Arizona; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, George Susewind of Aberdeen, Washington; and two sisters, Mary Helen Joseph of Brunswick, Missouri and Sandra Sue Bartels of Springfield, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Kenneth Susewind of Carollton, Missouri.
Private graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, Missouri. Family and friends were invited to attend a celebration of life luncheon at Sherry's Home Cookin restaurant following interment. Arrangements were handled by Gibson Funeral Home of Brunswick.

Earnest R. (Bobby) Hunt, age 74, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Carroll House.
Bobby was born January 26, 1932 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Earnest and Emma Stewart Hunt.
One sister, Betty Hunt, Shenandoah, Iowa and two nieces survive him.
His parents, one brother in infancy and one sister, Barbara Hunt preceded him in death.
Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2006 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating.

Wendell Price Johnson, 68, of Brunswick, MO and a recent Chillicothe, MO resident died on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was born on October 15, 1937 at Triplett, MO the son of Desmond and Pocahontas Winn Johnson. Wendell graduated from the Dalton High School in 1955 and served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. Before his retirement he had worked fro the Donaldson Manufacturing Company in Chillicothe, MO as a press operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Triplett, MO. He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Winn and Shirley Burton both of Brunswick, MO; two brothers, Donald Johnson of Brunswick, MO and Herman Johnson of Triplett, MO; one aunt, Darline Botts of Chillicothe, MO; three cousins, Mary Dunlap of St. Louis, MO, Brenda Lemmie of Houston, TX and Mary Smith of Killean, TX; seven nieces, nine nephews and several great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Clarence Johnson. Funeral services were held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. Reverend Donald White officiated. Burial was in the Brunswick City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Anthony and Cedric Johnson, James Johnson, Jr., Michael and James Tatum and John Adams. Honorary Pallbearers were William and Herman Adams, James Winn Robert Midget and Michael Burton. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church at Triplett, MO

Billy Donald Smith, 72, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2006, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born March 5, 1933, in Waverly, Missouri, the son of Romey Emmett Smith and Cora Bell Hostetter Smith.
Bill grew up in the Waverly and Tina, Missouri area. He attended Waverly grade school and graduated from Tina-Avalon High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated from the United States Trade School in Kansas City, Missouri.
Billy married the love of his life, Evelyn D. Lancaster on September 28, 1958, who preceded him in death July 8, 1977. He lived and raised his family in Carrollton, Missouri, where he had been a manager at J. C. Penney, a supervisor at Con Agra Foods and was retired as a Correctional Officer at the State of Missouri Correctional Center in Chillicothe. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Missouri.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Lee Smith, Carrollton, Missouri, two daughters and their husbands, James R. and Pamela J. Miller and Randy R. and Janet E. Sanders, both of Carrollton, four grandsons, all of Carrollton, Jeffrey L. Smith, Jr., Donald L. Smith, Thomas E. Heselton, Tyler D. Heselton, one granddaughter, Carol R. Smith, Waverly, Missouri, one great grandson, Dylan M. Smith, two great granddaughters, Cierra J. Smith and Savannah P. Smith, all of Waverly, Missouri, three step grandsons, John Reichers, Alvin Freeman, Bill Freeman and three step great grandsons, two sisters, Classie Warner, Bosworth, Missouri and Shirley Smith, Grand Pass, Missouri, two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Gilpin, Waverly, Missouri, Leroy Key, Waverly, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Billy was also preceded in death by his parents Romey and Cora Bell Smith, his mother and father-in-law, Gene and Jessie Lancaster, a daughter-in-law, Lola Smith, one brother, Emmett Smith, six sisters, Beulah Rich, Alice Warner, Ilene Gilpin, Bessie Dothage, Betty Key, Darlene Smith and several brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Rod McNeall officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Thomas Douglas Winfrey, age 92, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2006 at his home.
He was born August 14, 1913 in Levasy, Missouri, the son of Charles M. and Myrtle Douglas Winfrey. He graduated from Buckner High School. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a mechanic for Green Quarries and retired in 1978. He was married to Dorothy Elliott in Topeka, Kansas and she preceded him in death in 1968. He then married Margaret Schutz in December of 1968. She also preceded him in death. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton.
Tom is survived by three sons, Delty Winfrey, Liberty, Missouri, Jerry Winfrey, Keller, Texas, Charles T. Winfrey, Columbia, Missouri, one daughter, Myrtle Chipley, Columbia, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Lanea Ritterling, Delty Winfrey, II, Becky Goodloe, Amy McCoy, Tara Kassuke, Jeri Ellen Winfrey, Chad Winfrey, Katie Winfrey and six great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2006 at Gilead Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri, will provide military services.
He will lie in state on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Steven Shibley Ball, 51, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
Steve was born July 17, 1954 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Harry Edmond Ball, Jr. and Frances Anne Shibley Ball. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1972 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, in 1976. Steve worked for Williams Pipeline Company, Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 23 years. He was recognized for his many contributions when he received an honor award from the University of Missouri for Distinguishing Service and Engineering. Steve was selected to complete the Executive Program for Management Development at Harvard University and had been the Senior Vice President and General Manager when he left The Williams Companies. Steve was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, had earned the title of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, and had coached many youth sports.
Steve is survived by his daughter Kristin Leigh Ball, 22, of Dallas, Texas; his son Eric Haines Ball, 20, of Los Angeles, California; his brother Robert Ball and wife Colleen, of Leawood, Kansas; and his parents, Bud and Anne Ball, of Carrollton, Missouri.
His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Shibley and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Ball, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until the service time on Saturday at the church.

Karen L. Bird, age 51, of Orlando, Florida, passed away Monday, February 20, 2006 at her home.
Karen was born December 2, 1954 in San Francisco, California, the daughter of William A. Epley, Sr. and Dora Kathryn Brotherton Epley. She attended Carrollton High School.
She married David Bird in Orlando, Florida on September 18, 1999. He survives at the home. Karen worked in Apartment Management.
In addition to her husband David, Karen is also survived by three daughters, Chris Cardenas, Carrollton, Missouri, Tonya Aldrich, Blue Springs, Missouri, Angie Roades, Satsuma, Florida, two brothers, Keith Epley, Billings, Montana, Tim Shields, Kansas City, Missouri, five sisters, Pamela K. Davis, Carrollton, Missouri, Patricia Milino, Dallas, Texas, Donna Gandhi, Warrensburg, Missouri, Joy Becker, Carrollton, Missouri, Sara Koechner, Liberty, Missouri and nine grandchildren.
Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 1:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Little Adkins-Brotherton Cemetery, Wakenda, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Claire Elizabeth "Liz” Hardy Pemberton, age 98, of Mendon, M1ssoui, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Pershing Hospital, Brookfield, Missouri.
She was born December 20, 1907, the daughter of Dr. John Walter and Florence Robinson Hardy. She had one brother, Dr. John Walter Hardy, Joplin, Missouri, born 1905. One sister, Helen Harlan, Clarinda, Iowa, born 1912. All deceased.
After graduating from Sumner High School, and attending Christian College, Columbia, Missouri, Liz married Dr. Charles William Pemberton August 30, 1930. He preceded her in death November 30, 1987. She was a housewife and homemaker, a member of the Mendon Methodist Church, PEO Chapter AG and the Tourist Club of Brookfield. She had been a member of the Junior League of Butte, Montana.
She is survived by her son, Dr. John Walker Pemberton, Omaha, Nebraska, one granddaughter, Letitia Devlin, Singapore; three grandsons, Jeffrey Walker Pemberton, Denver, Colorado, James Tilford Pemberton, New York, New York, and John Low Pemberton, Washington, D.C., and six great grandchildren.
There will be a private burial. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Archie Lee Newman, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 27, 2006 at Carrollton Life Care Center.
Archie was born to Ord Clede and Ruth Eliza Tomlin Newman on September 27, 1921 at home in the Trotter Township. Dr. D. G. Atwood was the attending physician. Archie attended 1st grade at a 2-room Trotter schoolhouse. Second through eighth grade were spent at the Reynolds school in Carrollton. Grades ninth through twelve were spent at Carrollton High School, where Archie graduated in 1939.
Archie and his older brother, Floyd Ely Newman ran a Texaco filling station in 1939 and 1940. Also during this time, Archie worked as a hedge fence post cutter. Archie also worked at the Brockmeier Oil Co. Archie was reunited with his brother Floyd in California and found work as a machinist. Archie and Martha Ruth Riggins were married on March 15, 1942 at Cupid’s Corner in Yuma Arizona. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1995. He was in the 62nd Battalion of the US Naval Seabees. Archie attended Missouri Valley College and graduated in the spring of 1949 with a degree in business administration. He owned and operated Newman Insulating Co. In 1953, Archie began his teaching career at Bogard, Missouri until Bogard School District consolidated with Carrollton and taught the 1979-1980 school years at Carrollton. Archie was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ and served as an elder. He had served as a civil defense officer and farmed. He was an avid reader and loved to travel.
Archie married Myrtle Olivene Harper on August 9th, 1997 at the Carrollton Church of Christ in Carrollton. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2004.
He is survived by four children, James Eugene Newman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Thomas Lloyd Newman, Carrollton, Missouri, Sharon Jane Purdy, Cole Camp, Missouri, Debra Kay Newman, Bonner Springs, Kansas, one brother, Floyd Newman, Carrollton, Missouri, six grandchildren, Shawn Newman, Angel Newman, Kerry Branchcomb, Bruce Saltsgaver, Lesia Smith, Libby Lorenz and twelve great grandchildren.
His parents also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Evangelist Rick Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Trotter Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Beverly A. Stanford - On February 28th, surrounded by her loving family, Beverly A. Stanford left the betters of this world behind and joined her Heavenly Father. Bev touched lives across the United States and no one remained a stranger long after meeting her. Her granddaughters remember her as the funniest woman they knew. Her friends will remember her sense of caring, sense of humor, love for life, her home in Estes Park, CO., being the oldest child of James and Irene Anderson and touching lives in A.A. and at Harmony of Estes Park.
Bev was born in 1935 in Zion, IL and moved to Carrolton, MO as a youth. She graduated from Carrolton High School and obtained a floral degree from Chicago. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at the University of Missouri and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Estes Park, CO. Bev married David H. Stanford in 1956 who preceded her in death in 1995. She was the proud mother of two sons: Dwight D. Stanford MD of Leawood, KS and James H. Stanford MD of Chesterfield, MO.
She leaves behind her loving friend and daughter-in-law Kim; her granddaughters: Michelle, Allison, Lauren, and Ashley; her two grandsons: Torrin Stanford and Christopher Moore, and her faithful dog Muffin. She also leaves her sister Jarene Stanford, her brother Bruce Anderson and her California “daughter” Lorie Johansen. Our Worthy Mother, Grandmother, and Friend will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Joe Barone officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Ruth Marie Garr, 93, a former Mendon, MO resident died on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline, MO. Funeral services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Mendon, MO on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Gail Brown officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, from 6 – 8:00 P.M.
Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery at Mendon, MO. Memorials may be made to the Mendon Cemetery. Ruth was born on January 5, 1913 at Mendon, MO the daughter of John Frederick and Elsie May McPherson Steinbeck. She graduated from the Mendon High School in 1930 and was married to Elson Livingston Garr on July 4, 1942 at Chillicothe, MO. Elson preceded her in death on November 25, 1988. Ruth was a Methodist and had been a housewife and homemaker. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Garr of Mendon, MO; three sons, Robert Garr and his wife JoAnn of Brookfield, MO, Richard Garr and his wife Jeanette of West Point, IA and Ronald Garr and his wife Lena of Mendon, MO; two sisters, Vivian Thornsberry of Sumner, MO and Erma McAllister of Mendon, MO; two brothers; John Steinbeck of Yucca Valley, CA and Joe Steinbeck of Lewistown, MO; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Edith and Betty Lou Garr and Verna Duval, two brothers, Frank and Ed Steinbeck and one grandson, Kevin Yate. Pallbearers will be Robby, Josh, Aaron, Alex and Jon Garr and Blaine, Tyson, Ryan and Danny Bartlett.
Mary Caroline Jordan, 91, Hale, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Carrollton Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
Miss Jordan was born April 29, 1914, in Hale, Missouri, to Adolph Gustav and Mary Elizabeth Ritzinger Jordan.
As a child, her family moved west, where they lived for a time in a sod house on their Colorado farm. She attended schools at Bunker Hill, Colorado; Clough Valley at St. Francis, Kansas; and Armel High School at Armel, Colorado, before her family returned to the Hale area. She graduated from Hale High School in 1932 and matriculated to Central Missouri Teachers College in Warrensburg. Miss Jordan began her teaching career at Little Compton School in 1934 and later taught at Willow Grove and Guillet. Following several years of teaching in country schools, she taught in the towns of Bosworth, Hale, Braymer, and St. Joseph. Of her 56 years in education, 24 were spent teaching at Hyde School in St. Joseph. She credited Supt. Calvin Deck, then at the Bosworth School, for encouraging her to finish earning her Bachelor of Arts degree during summer vacations
She was of the Christian faith and a member of the Hale Baptist Church. Baptized at the age of seven in Colorado, she taught her first Sunday School class, the Nursery Class, when she was just eight years old.
Organizations to which Miss Jordan belonged included Business and Professional Women, Classroom Teachers, and PTA. She was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the Hyde School PTA at her retirement.
In her later years, a former student, Dr. Jerry Chambers of Franklin County, wrote this tribute to her: "Miss Jordan--For all you taught us, for the guidance you gave us, and for how you loved us all, I thank you."
Her giving philosophy is revealed in a favorite poem by Emily Dickinson:
If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
Her parents and a brother preceded Miss Jordan in death in infancy, Hubert Wilson Jordan. She is survived by several cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Hale Baptist Church, Hale, Missouri, with Reverend Lee Borders officiating. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery, Hale, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Hale Baptist Church.

Viola Marie Standley Scott, 101 years old, of Tucson, Arizona, and formerly of Bogard, Missouri, died Monday, March 6, 2006.
Mrs. Scott was born June 28, 1904 in Carroll County, the daughter of J. Wyck and Annie Applebury Standley. She was a member of the Quakers. She attended the Bogard Public Schools and graduated in 1923 in the first graduating class. She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Kansas City and graduated in 1928 with a R. N. Degree. She married Lawrence Scott in 1933 who preceded her in death. Her parents and one sister, Loreta Standley Isaacs, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include nieces, Frances Johnson, Carrollton, Hazel Sprouse, Olathe, Kansas, and Martha Smith, Irving, Texas, one nephew, George Isaacs, Kewanee, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., at Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri.

Sara Helen Baird, age 88, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born November 3, 1917 in Carroll County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph W. and Effie Ann Staton Baird. She graduated from Carrollton High School. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Sara was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Women’s Club and the Telephone Pioneers. She had received a Lassie Award for her care and works with stray animals and had worked with local veterinarians finding homes for abandoned dogs and cats.
Sara is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one sister, Marian Bowles, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Joe Barone officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to service time at the funeral home.

Shirley Elaine Ackerman, age 80, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 10, 2006 at Life Care Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born March 29, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Clare and Dorothy Griffitts McCraw. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
On October 20, 1945, Shirley married Eldon Ackerman in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2005. Shirley was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri, the Trotter Hustlers Extension Club and Carroll County Historical Society. She had been secretary-treasurer for the Carrollton Country Club for fourteen years.
Two sons, Gary Wayne Ackerman, Edgerton, Missouri, Richard L. Ackerman and wife, Connie, Blue Springs, Missouri, five grandchildren, Trent, Kyle, Brandon, Dallas and Derick Ackerman and four great grandchildren survive Shirley.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to H.E.L.P. Services Cancer Fund or the family’s choice in memory of Mrs. Ackerman. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Ruby Breidenstein, 95, died Thursday, March 16, 2006. She resided at John Knox Village East in Higginsville.
Mrs. Breidenstein was born September 14, 1910, on a farm outside New Cambria, Missouri, to the late Woodrow and Edith Jones Renoe. She is preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and three brothers.
A retired teacher, she began her career as an educator in 1927 at the age of 16 in a one-room country schoolhouse outside New Cambria. While a student at Kirksville Missouri Teachers College, she met her future husband, Irwin William Breidenstein, who was Superintendent of Schools at Grand Pass, Missouri. The couple married in 1932 and after five years in Grand Pass, they moved to Novinger, Missouri, where Mrs. Breidenstein resumed her teaching career.
She subsequently taught school in Bucklin, Norborne, Wellington and Waverly before retiring in 1970. Although the majority of her teaching career was at the elementary school level, her academic background was centered in library science.
She and her husband purchased a farm between Waverly and Grand Pass in 1932 and lived there from 1957 until 1966 when they moved to Waverly. Mr. Breidenstein died in 1980. Mrs. Breidenstein moved to Higginsville in 1999. While a resident of Waverly, she was active in local and civic organizations, including the DAR, Kensington Club and the Garden Club.
Mrs. Breidenstein is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Ragland of Bryson City, North Carolina, a granddaughter, Leslie Gattuso of Memphis, Tennessee and two great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the Waverly Baptist Church, Waverly, Missouri, with Reverend Mike Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the church. Burial will follow at the Grand Pass Cemetery, Grand Pass, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Breidenstein. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Carl A. Goedeke, age 82, went home to the Lord on March 17, 2006. Carl was born December 21, 1923 on a farm east of Carrollton, MO to Carl H. and Louise Stiek Goedeke. He went to school in Carroll County and the University of Missouri. He resided in Carroll County most of his life. Mr. Goedeke was a Veteran. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After serving his country her returned to Carroll County and went into farming. Carl raised cattle for many years and had an outstanding herd. He was married to the former La Junta Madeline Coleman. They are the parents of five children, Dan, Randy, D. Allen, Leslie Ann and Michael. During his life Carl was very involved in Immanuel Lutheran Church serving in various positions in the church. He taught Sunday School for 38 years, was on the church council, an Elder and an usher. Carl was active in his community and served on several boards including the Wakenda School Board, was on the Carrollton Township Board and was Assessor for Carrollton Township. Carl was predeceased by his parents and step-mother and two step-sisters. He is survived by his wife and sons, Dan, Randy and wife Jan, D. Allen, Michael and wife Tressa and daughter Leslie Calhoun, two daughters-in-law, Nancy and Janice. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several cousins. Christian Burial will be conducted at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Carrollton, MO on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Visitation will be at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO on Monday, March 20, 2006 from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Carrollton, MO. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Radio Fund or Charity of Your Choice and may be mailed to the Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, MO 64633.

Clifford Carroll, age 97, of Bosworth, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 25, 1909 in Carroll County, the son of Hugh Raleigh and Malinda Finley Carroll. He attended Rockford School.
He married Treva N. Parker on December 8, 1927 in Paola, Kansas. She passed away June 5, 1974. He married Velma Minnis in 1976.
Mr. Carroll lived his entire life in the Bosworth Community. He farmed for a time, and then became part owner of Bosworth Oil Company before retiring. He was an avid waterfowl and quail hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita and O. L. Houseworth, Bosworth, Missouri, Betty and Fred O’Dell, Carrollton, Missouri, four grandsons, six great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Maude, Lena, Kathryn, Goldie and Denzal, four brothers, Hugh, Joe, Bill and Melvin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri, with Fred Seba officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.

Vicki Anne Gash, 46, of Brunswick, MO and formerly of Higginsville, MO died at her home in Brunswick, on Saturday, March 25, 2006. She was born on June 22, 1959 at Omaha, NE the daughter of Thomas J. and Georgene A. Sodman Hickman. Vicki graduated from the Kickapoo High School at Springfield, MO. She was married to Mark Rein Gash at Butterfield, MO on February 13, 1993. Mark survives her at the home. Vicki was co-owner and operator of the Florence Hotel and Hunting Lodge in Brunswick, MO with her husband Mark. Before moving to Brunswick she had worked as an Administrative Assistant for Russell Stover Candies at Kansas City, MO and had been a Bookkeeper for The Labor Force also at Kansas City, MO. Vicki is also survived by one daughter, Pamela Hickman of Kansas City, MO; her father Thomas J. Hickman of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Deborah Fahrenholtz of Cumberland, RI and Julia Marks of Tucson, AZ; three brothers, Scott Hickman of Gilbert, AZ, Theodore Hickman of Plattsmouth, NE and Patrick Hickman of Middletown, VA. She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Jeffrey Hickman. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO. Cremation Arrangements by the Gibson Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery at Higginsville, MO. Memorials may be made to the Florence Hotel.

Helen (Mildred) Lucille Berwaldt, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born January 1, 1927 in Bates County, Missouri, the daughter of Richard and Hattie Sweger Griffith. She graduated from Ballard High School.
Helen married Harold (Pete) Berwaldt on December 12, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2005. Helen had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She had served as a cook for the Carrollton School District and had sold Avon for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Carrollton, Missouri, where she had served in various capacities.
Helen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Vince and Teresa Berwaldt, Marshall, Missouri, John and Twilla Berwaldt, Ponca City, Oklahoma, two sisters, Nellie Epperson, Mission, Kansas, Sue Shepherd, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and six grandchildren, Kyle, Katelyn, Emily, Lyndall, Nathanael and Terry Jo Berwaldt.
Her parents, four brothers, Ted, Chester, Bud and Melvin and one grandson, Lucas Berwaldt, also preceded Helen in death.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 7-8:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton.
The family suggests memorials be made to the family’s choice in memory of Mrs. Berwaldt. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
