Robert F. “Bobby” Crose, age 78, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Blue Springs, Missouri.
He was born January 26, 1928 in Bosworth, Missouri, the son of Gilbert and Edith Wagy Crose. He graduated from Bosworth High School.
On January 17, 1950 he married Kathryn Bittiker in Hale, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Bobby had been employed as a bookkeeper, had worked for Banquet Foods, Guard Mark Gas Station and was an avid gambler. He was a Methodist. He was a United States Army Veteran and a former member of the American Legion.
He is also survived by two sons, Ronnie Crose, Blue Springs, Missouri, Gary Crose, Gallatin, Missouri, three brothers, Jimmy Crose, Carrollton, Missouri, Reigge and Billy Crose, both of Bosworth, Missouri, two sisters, Judy Gregg, Carrollton, Missouri, Melissa Kemble, Bosworth, Missouri, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
His parents and one sister, Evelyn Gay Crose, preceded Bobby in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 15, 2006, from 7-9:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Delmas Lamont Tolson, 51, of Brunswick, MO died on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the
St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was born on January 17, 1955 at Carrollton, MO the son of Clyde E. and Mary V. Williams Tolson. Delmas graduated from Brunswick, High School in 1974 and later joined the U.S. Army. He had been a machine operator for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He was a member of the A.M.E. Methodist Church at Brunswick, MO. Delmas is survived by his wife, Pam Tolson of Columbia, MO; two sons, Charles Tolson of Kansas City, MO and Cody Tolson of Columbia, MO; his mother, Mary V. Tolson of Brunswick, MO; two sisters, Sharon Lampkin and her husband Chris of Moberly, MO and Corneila Fristo and her husband William of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, Donald Saunders and his wife Lisa of Moberly, MO; one granddaughter, Jasmine Ann Marie Tolson and one step-grandson, Jadan. Delmas was preceded in death by his father, Clyde. Memorial services will be held at the
A.M.E. Methodist Church in Brunswick, MO on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11:00 A.M.
Pastor Willy Locke and Pastor Earl Howard will officiate. Flowers or memorials may be taken to the church after 8:00 A.M. on Saturday. Cremation arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.

Marion Beatrice Noah, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Carroll House.
She was born August 29, 1926 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of J. S. and Martha Mae Smith Cochran. She graduated from Carrollton High School.
On January 17, 1946 she married George Wallace Noah in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death. Marion retired from the Marshall Rehabilitation Center and had worked as a Meter Maid in Carrollton and for Home Health in Carrollton. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton.
Survivors include six children, Georgia Mae Vannoy and husband Richard, Huntsville, Missouri, Kathryn Beatrice Berning and husband Robert, Camdenton, Missouri, Larry Noah and wife Margie, Debbie K. Wilson and husband Tommy, Charles Richard Noah, all of Carrollton, Missouri and Clifford Ray Noah, Osage Beach, Missouri, five brothers, Charles Wellman, Carrollton, Missouri, David Wellman, Sedalia, Missouri, Bobby Wellman, Bogard, Missouri, Daniel Wellman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Kenneth Wellman, Cowgill, Missouri, nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Marion was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, George, Jr., and Vernon Lee Noah, and three brothers, Bill, Marvin and Joe Wellman.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating.

Victor Lee Nunn, 80, of Brunswick, MO died on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. He was born on November 11, 1925 at Brunswick, MO the son of Thomas Lee and Pauline Nora Straub Nunn. Victor graduated from Brunswick High School and later served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during WWII. Over the years, Victor had been an Auto Body Repairman, driven delivery routes for Sommer’s Potato Chips and the Foremost Dairy and had sold Capper’s Weekly. He was married to Nellie June Thurber on February 19, 1968 at Miami, OK. June survives him at the home. He was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Brunswick, MO and was a member of the Rucker-McAllister Post #7 American Legion at Brunswick, MO. Victor is also survived by two daughters, Jeanette Crow of Chandler, AZ and Mary Ann Snider of Dupo, IL; one son, Joe Baker of Hermann, MO; one sister, Joanna Williams of Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and
grt-grt-grandchildren; two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ceola Johnson and Thelma Poff. Funeral services were held at
St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brunswick MO on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at
11:00 A.M. Pastor Glen Drewitz officiated. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO with Military Honors provided by the Rucker-McAllister Post #7 American Legion of Brunswick, MO. Memorials may be made to: The Elliott grove Cemetery, or charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were by the Gibson Funeral Home at Brunswick, MO.

Donald Duane “Red” Daniels, 75, of Mendon, MO died on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, MO. Funeral services will be held at the Mendon United Methodist Church in Mendon, MO on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1:30 P.M.
Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Gibson Funeral Home in Mendon, MO on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 6 – 8:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Mendon United Methodist Church or to the Mendon Lion’s Club. He was born on December 2, 1930 at Mendon, MO the son of Ralph and Violet Vivian Batchelder Daniels. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1948. He was married to Peggy Ann Gardner on August 6, 1950 at Mendon, MO. He was a lifelong farmer.
He began serving as a member of the Board of Directors at the Commerce Bank of Brunswick, MO and continued to serve through the years as the bank later became the Chariton County Bank and currently County Bank. He had also served on the Board of Directors of the Finnell Trust Fund. He was a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church, the Warren Masonic Lodge, the Ararat Shrine, the Tri-County Shrine Club, the Mendon Lion’s Club and had for twenty-four years served as Mayor of Mendon, MO. Survivors include his wife Peggy of the home; one son, Jimmy Daniels and his wife Linda of Mendon, MO; one daughter, Patricia King and her husband Gary of Olathe, KS; three granddaughters, Erin and Melissa Daniels and Courtney King. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Richard Mauzey, Rusty Blume, Kurt Herman, Bill Hayes, Cody Stark and Wayne Fletcher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Vandiver, Butch Fletcher, Jack Stark, Bill Jackson, Bruce Gerdes, Dr. John Perry, Jerry Young, Bill Richards, Doug Ott, Kal Cleavinger, Joe McGrew, Chester Smith, Rusty McCloud and Vernon Ammon.

Helen Virginia Hurlburt, age 94, formerly of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 26, 2006 at The Living Center, Marshall, Missouri.
She was born November 4, 1911 in Slater, Missouri, the daughter of William Clarence and Eula Edmonds Peterman Nichols. She graduated from Miami High School in 1931 and graduated from Missouri Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1944. She began her teaching career in Saline and Carroll Counties and retired from the Kansas City, Missouri school district. She was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit. Helen was also a member of MSTA, MRTA and NEA.
On April 26, 1975 she married Gus W. Hurlburt in Boonville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2004.
One sister, Anita Collins, Anchorage, Alaska, survives Helen.
Her parents, one brother, Marion Nichols, and two sisters, Doris Doty and Margaret Leimkuehler, also preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., at the Waverly Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Walker officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.

Dorothy V. Burkhart, 92, of Moberly, MO, formerly of Carrollton, MO, passed away Friday, May 26, 2006, at the Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Dorothy was born April 24, 1914 in the State of Iowa; the daughter of Clarence Henry and Sadie Rhodes Brockert.
She attended school in Hodge, Missouri and lived in Brunswick, Missouri from 1942 until moving to Carrollton in 1988. Dorothy worked in various restaurants and was employed at Banquet Foods in Carrollton for several years.
She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, MO .
On November 19, 1934 Dorothy was married to George Washington Burkhart in Lexington, Missouri; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1995.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Betty Zumbrunner, Kansas City, Missouri, Alice S. Adams, Moberly, MO, Dorotha F. Tonnar, Blackwater, MO, George R. Burkhart, Carrollton, MO and Claude H. Burkhart, Hannibal, MO; twenty-two grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five daughters in infancy; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Lee Borders, Reverend Ray Burkhart, and Reverend Dean Myers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, just prior to the service, at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, MO.
Burial will be in the Gilead Cemetery, southwest of Carrollton, MO.

Gladys A. Casner Oakes, age 78, passed away May 27, 2006 at Wyndridge Nursing Home in Crossville, Tennessee.
She was born August 25, 1927 to Cliff Casner and Margaret Henderson Casner, in the Sugar Tree area. She attended rural schools and graduated from Carrollton High School. She attended cosmetology school in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gladys is survived by her daughter Deborah Oakes McPeters and husband, Roland, Crossville, Tennessee, one brother, Melvin Wayne "Shorty" Casner and wife Colleen, Carrollton, Missouri, two granddaughters, Heather Fisher, Amanda McPeters-Dowdy, one step grandson, Gregg McPeters, one great granddaughter, Margaret McPeters-Dowdy, all of eastern Tennessee.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Gilead Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Pat Gorsett officiating.

Gerald Roberts Harvey, age 79, of Marshall, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at The Living Center, Marshall, Missouri.
He was born July 23, 1926 in Ochelata, Oklahoma, the son of John Thomas, Jr. and Sue Roberts Harvey. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Carrollton from 1974 to 1976; was involved in the opening of the Sheltered Workshop and worked there from 1977 to 1980; and was the water plant operator for Carrollton Municipal Utilities from 1988-1997. Gerald was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church.
On May 19, 1946 he was married to Marian Riley in Westwood, California. She preceded him in death on December 18, 1993.
Gerald is survived by two sons, Bruce Harvey and wife Debbie, Marshall, Missouri, J. Randal Harvey and wife Kelly, Lawson, Missouri, four grandchildren, Laura, Garrett, Dillon, and Riley Harvey.
Gerald was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2006 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Doug Franklin officiating.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Harold Eldon Koch, 92, of Triplett, MO died on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO. He was born on January 24, 1914 at Triplett, MO the son of
Charles Frederick and Laura Robertson Koch. He was a graduate of the Triplett High School. Harold was married to Maye Rebecca Boley on May 27, 1934 at Triplett, MO. Maye preceded him in death on March 20, 1999. Harold was a retired farmer and had been the owner and operator Koch Fertilizer at Brunswick, MO. He had been a past member and president of the Triplett School Board, a former member of the Triplett Masonic Lodge and a member of the Triplett Christian Church. Harold is survived by one son, Charles F. Koch of Carrollton, MO; three grandchildren, Kimberly Benedict, Cynthia White and Christy Rice and three great-grandchildren, Laura Fox, Sarah Jo and Austen Benedict. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helen Wise and one infant son, Harold Lee Koch. Funeral services were held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. Gail Brown officiated. Burial was in the McCullough Cemetery at Triplett, MO. Pallbearers were Jim Staub, Jack Stark, Rick Manson, Jim Benedict, Tony White and Darren Rice.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Lion’s Eye Bank.

Ruth Ann Holly Johnson, age 51, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2006 at her home.
She was born October 20, 1954 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Eddie, Sr. and Ruth Holly. She graduated from Norborne High School in 1972. She had worked for Banquet Foods in Carrollton as a line worker. Ruth Ann was a member of St. Luke’s A.M.E. Church in Norborne.
She is survived by one son, Michael Anthony Johnson, United States Army, Lawton, Oklahoma, eight brothers and sisters, Doroth Thompson and Edna Holly, both of Norborne, Missouri, Zona Henderson, Marshall, Missouri, Eddie Holly, Jr., Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Carmen Deneice Robinson, Carrollton, Missouri, Carolyn Holly, Norborne, Missouri, Mark Holly, Columbia, Missouri, Donna Ruth Holly, Norborne, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Jante, Ravyn and Michael Johnson.
Her parents, one son, Brandon Johnson and two sisters, Jacklene Wayland and Janet Rae Holly, preceded Ruth Ann in death.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Stemple Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri, with Reverend Valencia Jackson and Reverend Tracey Woods officiating.

Floyd Milton Heins, Jr., age 80, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 5, 2006 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born August 2, 1925 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Floyd Milton, Sr. and Mary Frances Payne Heins. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1943 and attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri for two years. He was in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
On March 29, 1944 he married Martha M. Tietjens in Carrollton, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1983. Two children were born to this union, Michael Tietjens Heins, who survives in Draper, Utah with his wife, Faith and Merala Heins Tobias, who survives in Port Angeles, Washington with her husband, Kenneth.
On October 10, 1986 he married Ruth Seek in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Floyd was a past President of Carroll County Savings and Loan and had owned and operated Heins Auto. He had served as the head of the Carrollton City Police Auxiliary, as a special deputy for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department for twenty years and served on the Sheltered Workshop Board. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton. He had also been a Boy Scout leader and was a member of the Wakanda Lodge #52 AF & AM for many years.
Floyd is also survived by four step children, James Bell, Burley, Idaho, DeEtta Hedrick and husband Michael, Covington, Tennessee, Terry Pennington, Indianapolis, Indiana, Trudee Howe and husband Larry, Chillicothe, Missouri, three grandchildren, fifteen step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.
His parents and one stepdaughter, Robin Gillilan, also preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri, will provide military graveside services.

Luther D. Glenn, 84, of Brunswick, MO died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the Life Care Center of Brookfield in Brookfield, MO. He was born on June 7, 1921 in Brunswick, MO the son of Luther Dempsey and Matilda Harrison Glenn. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1939 and attended one year of college at Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. He served his country during WW II as a member of the U.S. Army. He was married to Dorothy Jean Webber on September 27, 1946 in Lincoln, NE. Dorothy survives him at the home. Mr. Glenn owned and operated the Jack Glenn’s Men’s Wear Store in Brunswick, MO for over fifty-five years before his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church, the Warren Masonic Lodge # 74 AF & AM, the Ararat Shrine Club, a sixty year plus member of the Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion at Brunswick, MO, he had served as a Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and had also served has a Past President of the Brunswick Lion’s Club. Survivors also include, one son, Dr. Luther Dempsey Glenn, III of Rancho Mirage, CA; and one daughter, Robin Gorrell and her husband Jay of Smithville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Glendine Glenn and one daughter, Glenda Glenn. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO, with Military Honors provided by the Rucker-McAllister Post # 7 American Legion. Pallbearers were John Knight, Norman Patrick, Vic Dankert, Ralph Kennedy, Carl Shubert and Rich Mohs. Memorials may be made to the Brunswick United Methodist Church.

Irwin Ross Thomas, age 78 of Carrollton, Missouri died Wednesday morning, June 14th.
He was born August 31, 1927 in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Jay Ralph and Anna Hansen Thomas.
He was a graduate of Atlantic High School and Northwest Missouri State University. He received his Masters Degree from Truman State University and Education Specialist degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He was a sergeant in the US Army during World War II, and worked as a medical technician.
On May 27th, 1951 he married Nina Gilliland at Bethel Church near Ludlow, Missouri. Two children were born to this union, David Ross Thomas, who lives in Apex, North Carolina with his wife Sandra, and Deborah Bowlen of Carrollton and her two sons Andrew and Tyler.
As a young man Irwin was an Eagle Scout, and achieved an award for twelve consecutive years of perfect attendance at his church's Sunday School. He also received an award of honor for heroism for saving a drowning man.
Irwin had forty years in education, thirty-five as a school superintendent. The last twenty-seven years of his career he was Superintendent of Carrollton Public Schools.
Irwin R. Thomas began his career as a math/science teacher and coach in Oregon and Rockport. He became Superintendent of the Nemaha Public Schools in Nebraska in 1953. He also served as Superintendent of the Elmo and Oregon Public Schools before coming to Carrollton in 1962. He held this position until his retirement in 1989.
Irwin held positions on numerous civic and educational committees, including the MASA Legislative Committee and the Governor's Conferences on Education. He was active working with legislators to promote legislation beneficial to education in Missouri.
Irwin was President of Missouri School Administrators and obtained the MASA Distinguished Service Award.
Failing health curtailed his participation in the Chamber of Commerce, Shrine Club, and Lions Club all of which he had served as president.
His parents and an infant brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 3:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Rod McNeall officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Ludlow, Missouri.
Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday until service time at the church.

Paul Owen Richardson, 90, of Brunswick, MO, died on
Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO. Paul was born on June 29, 1915 at Brunswick, MO, the son of James P. and Emma Florence Syler Richardson. He was married to Halcy Elizabeth Swan on September 26, 1937 at Brunswick, MO. Halcy preceded him in death on February 16, 1993. Paul had been a life long farmer and had lived at his home for the last sixty-three years. He was a member of the Brunswick Christian Church, the Brunswick Lion’s Club and had been a past member of the Brunswick Rural Fire Board. He is survived by one son, Charles Richardson and his wife Llenell of Brunswick, MO; one daughter, Dorothy Stuebben and her husband Chris of Columbia, MO; one brother,
J.P. Richardson of Brunswick, MO; two sisters, Ruth Hawkins of LaPlata, MO and Ruby Kuhler of Brunswick, MO; five grandchildren, William and Matthew Richardson of Brunswick, MO, Tara Richardson of Columbia, MO, Paula Bach and her husband Tim of Columbia, MO and Suzanne Stuebben of Ashland, MO; and one great-grandson, Jacob Ray Hawkins of Ashland, MO. Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother and one sister, Marge Henning. Funeral services were held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, MO on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 2:00P.M. Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiated. Burial was in the Elliott Grove Cemetery at Brunswick, MO. Memorials may be made to, Brunswick United Methodist Church or to the Lion’s Club Eye Bank.

Carol Edith Ritzinger, age 62 of Liberty Missouri, passed away Monday June 19,2006 at the home of her son. She was born December 8, 1943 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Harold Irvin and Lula Marie Womack McCumber.
Carol attended Carrollton grade and High School . She did clerical work and had worked in the Carroll
County Clerk’s office for Howard P. Payne. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Missouri.
Carol is survived by three sons, Robert James , of Lakewood, Colo., Carl Wayne of Richmond, Mo., and Stephen Lee and wife Carla of Liberty, Mo., her Mother Lula M. McCumber of Carrollton, Mo., two brothers William (Bill) McCumber, Bogard Mo. Terry Wayne McCumber of Carrollton, Mo. one sister Audrea Annabelle Stroud, of Malden, Ill. Six Grandchildren and two Great-Grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Her Father and an infant brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday June 21, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with the Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 Tuesday June 20, 2006 at Gibson Funeral home, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Carol. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Opal Vonceil Lyons Shull, age 90, passed away on Monday June 19, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles, Missouri after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 8, 1916 in Hale Missouri the next eldest daughter of Joe and Addie Lyons. She attended school in Hale Missouri and graduated from the Hale High School. She married Joy Shull on November 30, 1933. Opal and Joy lived in Hale Missouri until 1947 when they moved to the town of Carrollton residing there until entering the health care center in 1996.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Mo. Her favorite past time was playing bridge, and she enjoyed her travels to Europe, Santa Barbara, California, winter vacations to Arizona and relaxing at Lake of the Ozarks. Visits with her Grandchildren was one of the highlights of her life. Opal was employed for a number of years as a salesperson at the J. C. Penney store in Carrollton, Missouri.
The family had farms in the Hale, Missouri area and had feeder cattle operations in Kansas and Texas and husband Joy was a very active livestock dealer. The family developed a forty acre lake south of Hale that is now operated by the Missouri Conservation commission known as the Little Compton fishing area. Joy and Opal were named Carroll County’s Farm Conservation family in 1994.
Survivors include son Robert J. Shull and his wife Rosemary of Goleta, California a daughter Carolyn Tatlow and husband Lynn of Barnett, Missouri, a sister Bonnie Anderson and husband Marvin Anderson of Raytown Missouri, four Grandchildren Bob Shull Jr., Amy Schnabel, Steven Tatlow and David Tatlow, 12 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by an infant son Trenneth Ross Shull, a sister Ruby Turner, and grandson Rodney J. Shull.
Funeral services will be at 3:00P.m., Saturday June 24, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Chaplain Bart Larson officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri
Visitation will be from 2-2:45p.m. Saturday June 24, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or First Christian Church in memory of Opal Shull. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Eldon Lee Riggle, 75, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Life Care Center, Carrollton, MO Eldon was born May 18, 1931 in Dawn, Missouri; the son of John Worick and Tina Jane Lewis Riggle. He received his education at the Root School in Carrollton, Missouri. Eldon and his brothers were in the hauling business.
He was very active in and loved to help organizations to sell tickets to such events as the Fire Departments Ham & Bean Day and the Virginia Street Baptist Church Turkey Dinner, Buddy Poppies and hats for the Booster Club.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Carrollton, MO and the Carrollton Trojans Booster Club.
He is survived by one brother, Ivan Louis Riggle and one sister, Norma Warner, both of Carrollton, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Luther Lavern in infancy, Melvin Clyde, Ralph Eugene, and Irvin Cleo; and two nieces, Karen Sockell and Kathy Riggle.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27th, 2006, at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with the Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, June 26th, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Plymouth Cemetery, Plymouth, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions to the Trojan Booster Club or the charity of your choice in memory of Eldon and they may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 South Main, Carrollton, Missouri 64633.

Lula Mae Calhoun, age 72, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006 at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born July 10, 1933 in Hillsboro, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil and Nina Rufus Hallers. She attended schools in Hillsboro.
On February 16, 1951 she married Wesley Calhoun in Hillsboro, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1993. Lula was a housewife and mother. She had worked at Ray-Carroll for many years. She enjoyed her bowling years and yard work. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Illinois.
Lula is survived by two sons and one daughter, Virgil Calhoun and wife Bernice, Springfield, Missouri, Becky Denker and husband Jerry, Carrollton, Missouri, Donald Calhoun, Richmond, Missouri, four grandchildren, Andrew Calhoun, SPC Richard Denker, Mary Denker and Jessica Calhoun, one brother, Carl Hallers, Taylor Springs, Illinois, three sisters, Barbara Camfield, Irvine, Kentucky, Donna Moler, Hillsboro, Illinois and Pat Hallers, Thousand Oaks, California.
Lula was also preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Missouri Council of the Blind. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.
