HANNIBAL ­ Mary M. Ivey, 48, of Hannibal, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at her home.

Funeral services are pending at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Howard Russell Corum
Sept. 14, 1931 ­ Dec. 28, 2000

LOUISIANA ­ Howard Russell Corum, 69, of Granite City, Ill., and formerly of Louisiana, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at his home.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Mike Bronson will officiate.

It will be followed by a military service by American Legion Post No. 370 at the American Legion building in Louisiana.

Mr. Corum was born Sept. 14, 1931, in rural Louisiana to Carless and Lucy Graves Corum.

He was married to Margaret (Sis) Branham on July 10, 1972, in Louisiana. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Christine Luketic of Garden Grove, Calif., Patricia Johnson of Joliet, Ill., and Linda Corum of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandsons, Monte Montello of Hastings, Neb., and Kristopher McCallister of the state of California; two granddaughters, Kara Montello of Chicago and Anna Luketic of Garden Groves; one brother, Henry Corum of Louisiana; and three sisters, Maggie Heffner, Mary Elliott and Ruby Ward, all of Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Corum; and one sister, Virginia White.

Mr. Corum was a sales representative for Allwaste Tank Cleaning in Granite City, Ill., for 16 years before his 1996 retirement.

Mr. Corum was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a lifetime member of the Collinsville, Ill., VFW Post and American Legion Post. No. 370 in Louisiana. He was a graduate of Louisiana High School.

Memorials may be made to Madison County, Ill., Hospice, in care of St. Elizabeth Hospital, 2100 Madison, Granite City, Ill. 62040.

Anna Hogue
Nov. 28, 1902 ­ Jan. 1, 2001

VANDALIA ­ Anna B. Hogue, 98, of rural Farber, died at 5:35 a.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hogue was born Nov. 28, 1902, in Gravois Mills to George William and Emma Rastorfer Kays.

She was married to Claude Hogue on Nov. 8, 1924, in Kansas City. He preceded her in death July 1, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Roy V. Hogue of Vandalia and William C. Hogue of Hannibal; one daughter, Emma Jo Niemeyer of Bowling Green; one brother, George Kays of Richland; two sisters, Goldie Campbell of Lebanon and Madge Runyan of Van Nuys, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; and nine sisters.

Mrs. Hogue had been a homemaker on the family farm near Farber since 1931. She had lived near Farber all her adult life. She was formerly employed at Ely Walker Garment factory.

Mrs. Hogue was a member of First Baptist Church in Vandalia. She was educated in the Gravois Mills area. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and raising chickens and turkeys.

Memorials may be made to St. Clement School.

Pallbearers will be Chris Niemeyer, Monte Niemeyer, Claude Niemeyer, Roy Niemeyer, Paul Niemeyer and Troy Niemeyer.

Honorary pallbearers will be A.J. Basinger, Mike Klott, Damon Vuch, Thomas Pickett, Dwain Shaw and William C. Williams.

Ernest Ras Anderson
Oct. 31, 1900 ­ Dec. 29, 2000

LOUISIANA ­ Ernest Ras Anderson, 100, of Louisiana, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Smith-Barr Nursing Home in Louisiana.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Earl Wood will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the IOOF Lodge No. 28 will lead a memorial service at 7 p.m. today.

Mr. Anderson was born Oct. 31, 1900, in Pike County to Honest and Nellie Scoggins Anderson.

He was married to Myrtle Virginia Smith on Nov. 13, 1923. She preceded him in death Oct. 26, 2000.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances Marie Hunter of Lincoln City, Ore.; four granddaughters, Judith Farmer of Olaha, Ore., Virginia Ann Anderson of Troy, Elaine Brookshire of Vandalia and Tammy Jo Sladek of St. Charles; four grandsons, Chase Hunter of Hollywood, Calif., Donald R. Hunter and Robert A. Hunter, both of Lincoln City, Ore., and William Ernest Sladek of Winfield; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elva Louise Sladek, who died in 1978; one brother, Roy Anderson; and one sister, Elsie Matilda Ince.

Mr. Anderson had been a pipefitter and plumber. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Louisiana. He also was a member of Pipefitters Local No. 137 in Springfield, Ill.

Mr. Anderson was a 60-year member and past noble grand with IOOF Lodge No. 28 in Louisiana. He had served as district deputy to the Grand Lodge in Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Roy Anderson, Don Ince, William Reed, Robert Kilby, William A. Reed and Otis Madden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Jennings, Miller Waugh and Marell Turner.

Lee J. Hubers
Sept. 11, 1908 - Dec. 25, 2000

ST. CHARLES ­ Lee J. Hubers, 92, of St. Charles and formerly of Hannibal, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, in St. Charles.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Charles. Burial was at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. The Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hubers was born Sept. 11, 1908, in Glennonville to Bernard J. and Frances Hubers.

He was married to Mildred M. Hubers. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Genevieve Hubers of Vincennes, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Colley; and three brothers, Urban Hubers, Richard Hubers and E. Martin Hubers.

Mr. Hubers had been a production control expediter in aircraft manufacturing at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis for 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Memorials may be made to Masses or Alzheimers Association, in care of Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson St., St. Charles, Mo. 63301.

Eileen Jackson
Feb. 2, 1919 ­ Jan. 30, 2001

TROY ­ Eileen Jackson, 81, of St. Peters and formerly of Florissant, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at St. Joseph Health Center in Lake Saint Louis.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Joachim & Ann Church in St. Charles. Father Jeff Maassen will officiate. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Troy.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Jackson was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Hawk Point to Fred and Nora Harris Cape.

She was married to Wilfred G. Jackson on June 13, 1942. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Suzanne Wanninger of St. Charles, Pat Witt and Donna Lauer, both of St. Peters; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harris Cape; and one sister, Ruth Colllandt.

Mrs. Jackson was an elementary school teacher for many years at Catholic schools in St. Louis County and Riverview Gardens School District.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.

Paul F. Hirsch
May 19, 1912 ­ Jan. 29, 2001

EWING ­ Paul F. Hirsch, 88, of near Steffenville, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing. Father David Cox will officiate. Burial will be at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Ewing.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family meeting friends after 6 p.m., today at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing. There will be a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Hirsch was born May 19, 1912, near Steffenville to Victor and Walburga Kober Hirsch.

Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Howland of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by six sisters, Clara Rife, Mollie Claus, Marie Barnes, Katheryn Hirsch, Luella Gotway and Rose Herkert; and two brothers, Victor and Joseph.

Mr. Hirsch was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ewing, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He farmed all his life. He was never married.

Memorials may be made to the Queen of Peace Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Joe Schroeder, Richard Houchins, Charles Loscher, Kenneth Ritter, Francis Dawson and John Whitlatch.

Joyce A. Protsman

HANNIBAL ­ Joyce A. Protsman, 61, of Hannibal, died at 5:43 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her home.

Services are pending at Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Richard Hardy Arnold
Oct. 3, 1900 ­ Jan. 28, 2001

HANNIBAL ­ Richard Hardy Arnold, 100, of Hannibal, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

Funeral services with a military service by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Arnold was born Oct. 3, 1900, in Bluffs, Ill., to George and Jessie Adams Arnold.

He was married to Donna Jean Taylor on July 15, 1964, in Palmyra. She survives.

Also surviving is one brother, George Junior Arnold of Roxanne, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was retired from Wabash Railroad, where he was a fireman/laborer.

Memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55.

Blaine Waite
Aug. 12, 1932, ­ Jan. 27, 2001

SHELBYVILLE ­ Blaine Waite, 68, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Ven Core Hospital in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Albin Covington will officiate. Burial will be at Newark Cemetery in Newark.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home.

Mr. Waite was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Newark to Stephen McChristy and Ruby Myers Waite.

Survivors include one brother, Max Waite of Poplar Bluff; two stepsisters, Lavaughn Jones of Monmouth, Ill., and Virgil Lee Engle of Shelbyville; and a special friend, Hazel Arment.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Opal Lindsey Waite; one brother, Rex Waite; and one stepsister, Laverne Patterson.

Mr. Waite was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was a heavy equipment operator with Hardy Construction Co. in Shelbyville for more than 50 years.

He was a Christian by faith. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Pallbearers will be Brian Waite, Stephen Waite, Scott Waite, Jeff Arment, Terry Arment and Donnie Arment.
