HANNIBAL ­ Anna Venditti, 83, of Ilasco, died at 11:57 a.m. Jan. 23, 2000, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services are pending at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Louise Hudson
March 19,1923 - Jan. 13, 2001

Hannibal ­ Louise Hudson, 77, of Cottonwood, Ariz., and formerly of Hannibal, died at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001.

Memorial Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Grand View Burial Park. The Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Hudson was born in Hannibal on March 19, 1923, a daughter of R. Curtis (Curt) and Gladys Smith Hudson.

Survivors include three sisters, Margaret Hendren of Hannibal, Marilyn Moore of Clarkdale, Ariz., and Loraine H. Wigger of Tucson, Ariz.

Miss Hudson moved to Arizona from Hannibal in 1976. She was formerly an active member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hannibal and the Fidelis Class at the church. She was currently a member of the Cornville Baptist Church of Cornville, Ariz.

Roxanna Frankenbach
Aug. 6, 1959 - Dec. 30, 2001

QUINCY, Ill. - Roxanna D. (Roxie) Frankenbach, 42, of Palmyra and formerly of Quincy, Ill, died of cancer at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Payson Road Christian Church/The Crossing at 48th and Main Streets in Quincy, Ill. The Rev. Jerry Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with the Rev. David Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy.

Mrs. Frankenbach was born in Quincy, Ill., on Aug. 6, 1959, to Albert and Wilma Tappe Brink.

She married Mark Frankenbach on May 12, 2000. He survives.

Survivors include her parents; two children, Dustin and Nelson Rumsey; two step-children, Penny Unglesbee and Christy Yount; six sisters, Debbie Brink, Alberta Karnopp, Terry Anderson, Patty Terstriep, Anita Bellis and Arlene Anderson; two brothers, Thom Brink and Al Brink; one granddaughter, Mazie Unglesbee; and one grandson, Colten Yount.

The family wishes to include as survivors five brothers-in-law, Ron Karnopp, Tim Anderson, Luke Terstriep, Phil Bellis and Terry Anderson; three sisters-in-law, Sonia Brink, Cindy Brink and Jackie Bowen; one cousin, Joyce Vahle; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Don; and one cousin, Rick Zengel.

Mrs. Frankenbach worked as a customer service representative with Supra TeleCom in Quincy, Ill. She was a member of the Payson Road Christian Church and also attended Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra.

Memorials may be made to her Children's Education Fund.

Roberta W. Job

LA GRANGE - Roberta W. Job, 89, of Palmyra and formerly of La Grange, died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family meeting friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at the the funeral home.

Nellie R. Lewis
April 8, 1921 - Jan. 14, 2002

HANNIBAL - Nellie R. Lewis, 80, of Hannibal, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Beth-Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. The reader will be Iris Bell. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.

Mrs. Lewis was born April 8, 1921, in Perry to Hugh R. and Liza J. Carter Hamill.

She was married to William R. Lewis on Dec. 14, 1941, in Hannibal. He survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Diana Sue Penick of Manchester; one son, Bradley Robert Lewis of Overland Park, Kan.; one brother, Hugh E. Hamill of Center; and four grandchildren, Brooke and Darcy Penick, and Greg and Audrey Lewis.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva Lee Leake, Velma Smith and Mary Alice Tuley; and one brother, Felix R. Hamill.

Mrs. Lewis was an IBM operator, having retired from Western Printing Co. She was a member of the Christian Science Church and a member of the Hannibal Garden Club.

Ernest E. Shear
Feb. 4, 1934 - Jan. 12, 2002

HANNIBAL - Ernest Edward Shear, 67, of Hannibal, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. The Rev. Jeff Fisher will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.

Mr. Shear was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Hannibal to Edward and Clara Mae Reddick Shear.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam Dryden of LaGrange, N.C.; one son, Mike Shear of LaGrange, N.C.; three sisters, Helen Miller of Williamston, Mich., Edna Gregory of Linn and Mildred Lane of Hannibal; and five grandchildren, Scott Dryden, Robert Dryden, Greg Dryden, Jordan Shear and Brett Shear.

The family wishes to include as survivors, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herbert Shear; and one sister, Lois Tewell.

Mr. Shear was a Catholic by faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a self-employed carpenter in the Hannibal area.

Elsie (Mickey) Scanlan
June 18, 1927 - Jan. 28, 2001

OLD MONROE ­ Elsie E. (Mickey) Scanlan, 73, of Old Monroe, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe. Father Gregory Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be at St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. The Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Scanlan was born June 18, 1927, in St. Louis to James M. and Elsie A. Harmon Scanlan.

Survivors include two uncles, Ralph Harmon of St. Louis and Dan Scanlon; one aunt, Wilma Payne of Vandalia, Ill., and special friends, Wayne and Dotty Keeteman and family of Old Monroe.

She was preceded in death by three infant sons who died at birth; and two sisters, Ellen Scanlan and Dorothy Scanlan.

Ms. Scanlan was employed for a number of years at Harper & Row Book Publisher in Troy before retiring on Oct. 25, 1985. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church near Old Monroe.

Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Keeteman, Jeff Hampton, Kent Turnbull, Donald James Rickert, Donald Francis Rickert and Stan Zaraza.

Floy L. Lonergan
July 4, 1916-Jan. 24, 2001

TROY ­ Floy Loriene Lonergan, 84, of Lawton, Okla., formerly of Lincoln County, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Lawton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at the McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Troy City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lonergan was born July 4, 1916, in St. Louis to Gene and Myrtle Barnes.

She was married to Joseph Thomas Lonergan on April 22, 1946, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Musgrove, Moscow Mills and Alice Sheppard, Lawton, Okla.; one sister, Sylvia Stamper, Troy; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, William Barnes; and one sister, Darlene Barnes.

Mrs. Lonergan had been a homemaker. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Troy as long as her health permitted.

Memorials may be made to the Larry Rice Feed The Children, in care of the McCoy and Blossom Funeral Home.

Edna Alice Hoitt
May 28, 1919 ­ Jan. 24, 2001

TROY ­ Edna Alice Hoitt, 81, of Troy, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy.

The body was cremated and services will be held at a later date in Massachusetts. Professional services were under the direction of Kemper-Marsh Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Hoitt was born May 28, 1919, in Waltham, Mass., to Bert and Alice Lillian (Hickman) Richards.

She was married to Horace Milton Hoitt April 19, 1942, in Needham, Mass. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Donna-Lee Gale of Suffield, Conn., Wendy Duplex of Marshfield, Mass., and Robin Lindvall of Troy; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hoitt grew up and lived most of her life in Massachusetts. In 1995, she and her husband moved to Troy. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in Duxbury, Mass., where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the church choir.

William H. (Bill) Richardson
Sept. 28, 1929 ­ Jan. 25, 2001

HANNIBAL ­ William H. (Bill) Richardson, 71, of Hannibal, died at 6:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his home in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Richard Ingmire will officiate. Burial with military rites by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Richardson was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Hannibal to Cecil H. and Wilhelmina Schulten Richardson.

He was married to Alice Jeanette Pestell on Oct. 12, 1956, in Hannibal. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Tia Rhodes of Hannibal; one son, Cecil (Buddy) Richardson of Hannibal; and five grandchildren, Trisha Davis, Lindsay Richardson, Eric Rhodes, Ashley Rhodes and Christina Richardson.

The family wishes to include that he is survived by two great-grandchildren, Tori Davis and Caden Davis.

He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.

Mr. Richardson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in Korea.

He was a past member and commander of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55. He was a retired driver for the Mark Twain Beverage Company.

Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Gregory Rhodes, Larry Carey, Butch Schulten, Mike Schulten and Rick Schulten. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Livingston and Bill Crenshaw.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.

Gerald A. Brooks
Jan. 6, 1913 - Dec. 30, 2001

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Gerald Alvin Brooks, 88, of Springfield, Mo., died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Cox Medical Center North.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel in Springfield. The Rev. John Brooks will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.

Mr. Brooks was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Quincy, Ill.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Keith Brooks of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jonathan Keith Brooks of Springfield and Trinity Brooks of Topeka, Kan.; and a special care giver, Mildred East.

The family wishes to include as survivors, one daughter-in-law, Ann Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma M. Brooks; and one brother, John Brooks.

Mr. Brooks grew up in Hannibal and was a graduate of Douglass High School where he enjoyed foreign language (French and Latin), band, orchestra and choir. He graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City with a bachelor of science degree in English education and was a member of Kappa Alpha PSI fraternity. He earned a master's degree in French from the University of Illinois.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and was in the Navy band. He retired in 1976 after 40 years as a teacher in six different secondary schools in the state of Missouri, including 29 years in the Springfield School System where he taught English and was the band director at Lincoln High School, French and English, in Central High School, and Glendale High School.

In the Springfield community, he volunteered and served on the Mayor's Commission on Human Rights, Community Youth Center, Springfield Area Council of Churches, Boy Scouts of America and was a former director of Park Central Senior Citizens Choir. He was a member of Benton Avenue A.M.E. Church, American Legion Post 125 and a founder of Springfield Park Day Celebration.

Memorials may be made to Benton Avenue A.M.E. Church, 830 N. Benton Avenue, Springfield, Mo. 65802.
