She is survived by two daughters, Lenna Vee (Mrs. Cecil) Holman of Sikeston, Nina (Mrs. Fibber) McGee of Delassus, and by a son, Jack Bloom and wife Betty of Yulee, Fl, by 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Delassus Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Pythian Sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery Upkeep Fund.

Vernon "Ted" Ruble

Vernon “Ted” Ruble of Farmington, passed away on February 3, 2003, at the Barnes Jewish Hospital, at the age of 86 years. He was born on September 5, 1916, at Ellington, MO, the son of the late Walter and Martha Ruble. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer “Doc” Ruble and Bud Ruble, and two sisters, Ruby Taunt and Bess Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Black) Ruble, a daughter, Kay (Mrs. Don) Giessing of Farmington, a grandson, Eric Giessing and wife Donna of Farmington, two great-grandchildren, Kodi and Karli Giessing, two sisters, Bertha Faye Sencibaugh and Lucille Knaup, seven nephews, David Garner, Elmer Ruble, Jr., Vernon Ruble, John Knaup, Don Sencibaugh, Dwain Sencibaugh, and Sonnie Ruble. and by six nieces, Angela Ruble, Mary Cromeens, Shirley Webb, Mary Kay Knaup, Sue Sencibaugh, and Patsy Johnson.

Before his retirement, Ted owned and operated a sawmill.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran School.

Henry Allen Gore

Henry Allen Gore of Farmington passed away on February 6, 2003, at the Parkland Health Center at the age of 61 years. He was born on July 9, 1941, at Ellington, MO, the son of the late Sam and Edna (Stroup) Gore. He is survived by his wife, Willa Mae (Wright) Gore, a daughter, Crystal Presson and husband Jim of Farmington, three sons, William Gore and wife, Susan of Farmington, Jamie Gore of St. Louis, and Nathan Gore and wife Patty of Ironton, seven brothers, Donald, John, Cecil, Roger Lindell, Gary and Larry Gore, two sisters, Vesta Moon and Brenda Beard, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Before his retirement, Mr. Gore was a truck driver. He was also a member of the Desloge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to the Family.

Betty Marsh

Elizabeth "Betty" Marsh of Farmington passed away on April 3, 2003, at her residence at the age of 87 years. She was born on October 28, 1915, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Frank and Cecilia (Wittch) Rossell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Everett Marsh. She is survived by a nephew, Terry Rossell and wife Barbara of St. Charles, and a niece, Sally (Mrs. Dennis) Simpson of St. Louis. Great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Kathryn Black of Farmington passed away on April 2, 2003, at Missouri Baptist Hospital at the age of 79 years. She was born on April 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Catherine (Stewia) and Nicholas Momot. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Black, who passed away on April 12, 1987, by two sisters, Anna Medley and Helen Chapman, and by four brothers, Harry Momot, John Momot, Andy Momot and Nick Momot. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Ann Black Currington and husband, Gary of Fenton, by two sisters, Rose Alexander of Plantation, FL, and Mary Lockmiller of Stockton, CA, by two brothers, Frank Momot of Farmington and Mike Momot of Desloge, by two grandchildren, Shawn Aveningo of Sacramento, CA, and Traci Schrampf of St. Louis, and by three great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Ashley and Nicole Aveningo, all of Sacramento, CA. Nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

From 1949 until 1978 she was an employee of the Trimfoot Shoe Company. She was a long-time member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Jobs Daughters.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association and the Diabetes Association.

Therman C. Owens

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Florence M. (Boyd) Owens, three daughters, Carol Adams of Park Hills, Shirley (Mrs. James) Davis of Farmington, and Patty Turner of St. Louis, three brothers, Gene Owens, of Caulfield, MO, Jim Owens of Williamsville, MO, and Bobby Owens of St. Clair, MO, three sisters, Eva of Florissant, MO, Ruby Wideman of Barnhart, MO, and Francis Duncan of Festus, MO, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Before his retirement Mr. Owens was a truck driver. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington and the Masonic Lodge of New Madrid. In the 1930's he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps

Dorothy Bernice Lake of Farmington passed away on March 25, 2003, at the St. Francois Manor at the age of 80 years. She was born on February 28, 1923, at Elvins, the daughter of the late Claude and Goldie (Stone) Dix. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Fontella Burch, Carolyn Dickey, Adabelle Dix, and Helen Dix, and by a brother, Bill Dix. She is survived by a son, Jimmy Light and wife Tammy of Terre Du Lac, by two daughters,, Barbara (Mrs. David) Newbauer and Paula (Mrs. John) Cartee both of Farmington, by two sisters, Eva Wann of St. Louis and Mary Harlow of Arkansas, Kansas, by two grandson, Jason Barton and Caleb Cartee, by two grand-daughters, Shellie Pickering and Lauren Cartee, and by one great grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Dorothy worked at Easters Home of Ruth for several years, then retired from Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in 1988.

Mildred Browdy
November 20, 1920 - March 25, 2003

Mildred Naomi Browdy of Farmington passed away on March 25, 2003, at her residence at the age of 82 years. She was born on November 20, 1920 at Brookings, AR, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Clara M. (Kepner) Coffell. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Boor and by three brothers, Thadeus, Robert E. and Newell E. Coffell.

She is survived by a daughter Yvonne Endicott of Farmington, by two sons, Jim Browdy of St. Louis and Bob Browdy and wife Joan of Cedar Hill, by two brothers, Richard Coffell and wife Donna of Troy, Lloyd C. Coffell and wife Hattie of Peach Orchard, AR, by two sisters, Wanda Bass of Peach Orchard, AR, and Zelda (Mrs. Jim) Starr of Belleville, IL, by four grandchildren Susan (Mrs. John) Brophy of Hillsboro, Cara Browdy, Jacob Browdy and Patrick Browdy, all of Cedar Hill, by four great- grandchildren, Amber Tabares and Jason Tabares, of St. Louis, and Sarah Tabares and Elizabeth Tabares, of Hillsboro, and by two great-great grandchildren, Orlando Tabares and Alanna Tabares of St. Louis.

Bessie "Betty" Edna Sparks of Bonne Terre passed away on March 24, 2003, at St. Joe Manor at the age of 87 years. She was born on January 28, 1916, at Bonne Terre, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Elizabeth (McClain) Hinkle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, V.A. Sparks, two sons, James and Thomas Sparks, four sisters, Elva, Mae, Nellie, and Mildred, two brothers, Jim and Jess Hinkle. She is survived by a son, Robert Dunham and wife Pat of Park Hills, two step-sons, Lynwood (Bud) and wife Naomi of Farmington and Michael Sparks and wife Sheila of Bonne Terre, three step-daughters, Phyllis Ferguson of Austin, TX, Mary (Mrs. Donald) Meyer of Bonne Terre, and Sharon (Mrs. Hilan) Priddy of Pflugerville, TX, two sisters, Marie Krane of Bonne Terre and Goldie House of Belleview, a daughter-in-law, Doris Sparks of Villa Ridge, MO, 45 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Sparks worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood as a LPN. She was also a member of the Bonne Terre Church of God.

Geraldine W. Harter of Springfield, IL passed away on March 24, 2003, at her residence at the age of 79 years. She was born on November 8, 1923, at Koester, MO, the daughter of the late Carl and Ida Pearl (Henroid) Koester. She is also preceded in death by her husband, William S. Harter, and a sister, Mable Koester. She is survived by a son, William Frank Harter and wife RuthAnn of Greenbay, WI, two daughters, Patricia Egler of Springfield, IL, and Wanda (Mrs. Ronald) Filka of Asheville, NC, two sisters, Golda Kilmer of the State of Florida and Bernice Wright of Farmington, a brother, Clyde Koester of the State of Iowa, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Mrs. Harter was a homemaker and a community volunteer, active with the Girl Scouts of America, the YWCA and SAGE Thrift Shop in Summit, N.J., where she lived for nearly 30 years prior to moving to Springfield in 1994. She also had lived in Birmingham, MI, Livonia, MI, St. Anne, MO, and Farmington.

Franklin Delano Rayfield
July 10, 1933 - March 23, 2003

He is survived by three sons, Franklin Rayfield, Jr. of St. Louis, Jimmy Bishop and Bobby Bishop, both of the State of Missouri, by two daughters, Shirley and husband Roger Hendrix of Arnold and Patsy Fletcher of Lake Havasu, Arizona, by two brothers, Dean Rayfield of Imperial and Dave Rayfield of Town and Country, Missouri, and by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Mr. Rayfield proudly served his nation with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by two daughters, Drucella (Mrs. Terry) Fleshman of Park Hills, and Dolores (Mrs. Tony) Miller of Farmington, two sons, Ronald Janssen and wife Barbara of Chester, IL, and Glen Janssen of Farmington, three sisters, Barbara Coyle of Woodriver, IL, Alice Janssen, ad Linda Janssen both of Gillespie, IL, four grandchildren, a mother-in-law, Dolores Bell (Cowley) of Farmington. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Robert served his country with the U.S. Army.
