Robert Edward Reich of Farmington passed away on July 12, 2003, at his residence at the age of 79 years. He was born on October 1, 1923 at Baroda, MI, the son of the late John and Minnie (Rennhack) Reich. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eric Reich. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Forrest) Reich, two sons, Dan and wife Darcy, Fraser and wife Kathy, all of the State of Michigan, three daughters, Debra (Mrs. David) Chapman of Park Hills, Lisa (Mrs. Joseph) Njorge of Las Vegas, Caroline (Mrs. George) Hite of the State of Michigan, one sister, Eleanor Reich of the State of Michigan, and by twelve grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He proudly served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps as an Intelligence Non-commissioned Officer.

Mr. Reich graduated from Michigan State College, E. Lansing, MI, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He retired as an Engineer with a chemical company.

Jewell Davis Potter

Jewell Davis Potter of Farmington passed away on July 12, 2003, at his residence at the age of 78 years. He was born on July 27, 1924, at Wellston, the son of the late Jewell O. and Opal M. (Cornwell) Potter. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Potter and grandparents, Davis Obadiah and Emily Elizabeth Cornwell. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Davis Potter, by four sons, Mark Potter of Cocolalla, ID, and David Potter and wife Kathy of Boise, ID, Chip Dunivan and wife Jennifer, and Michael Dunivan and wife Jackie, all of Farmington, by two daughters, Marietta Bone and husband Donnie of Fredericktown and Pamela Fox and husband Steve of Ponderay, ID, and by eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Numerous relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Potter worked as a Rural Postal Carrier for many years and was a retired minister.

Terry Dean Smith

Terry Dean Smith of Farmington passed away on June 29, 2003, as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 47 years. He was born on September 4, 1955, the son of Donald Eugene and Peggy LaDonna (Freeland) Smith, at Bonne Terre. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Keith W. Smith of Farmington, two sisters, Gina Niemeyer of Farmington and Lori (Mrs. Rusty) Burke of Imperial, grandparents, Walter and Virginia Smith of Farmington, and special friend, Ruth Sorbello. A niece, three nephews, and many friends also survive.

Terry loved the outdoors, playing horseshoes, and spending time with his friends. A big sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Cardinals and the Blues games. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765 and worked in construction for many years.

Bob Eskridge
July 11, 1931 - June 27, 2003

He was born on July 11, 1931, the son of the late John Horace and Annie Christine (Lynn) Eskridge, at Halls, TN. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Eskridge. He is survived by dear friend, Janet Klemp of Farmington, by two brothers, Charles Eskridge of Halls, TN, and Lynn Eskridge of Ripley, TN, and a sister, Margaret White of Halls, TN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Eskridge served with the United States Army and received the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Eskridge was a member of the AMVETS Post #113 and the VFW Post #5896. Bob worked as a painter and drywaller in the area for many years. In his spare time Bob enjoyed being outdoors. He especially loved fishing and playing pool. He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

John I. Estes
January 30, 1918 - October 05, 2003

John I. Estes, beloved husband of Helen, went to be with God on October 5,2003 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. He was born on January 30, 1918, at Greenville, the son of the late Carlos Virgil and Emma Mary (Ward) Estes. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ward and Victor and two sisters, Helen Hughes and Virginia Dix. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 60 years, sister-in-law, Dorothy Estes Hoehn, three nephews, Jim Hughes and wife Judy, Charlie Hughes and wife Mary and David Estes and wife Sandy, three nieces, Barbara Ann Wines Wells, Sherry (Mrs. Francis) Basler and Claudia Dix King (Ben & Jaimie). Numerous great-nieces, great- nephews and a host of friends also survive.

During World War II, he proudly served his nation with the United States Army in New Guinea and the Philippines.

John graduated from Flat River High School in 1935.

In 1939, he went to work for American State Bank of Flat River (now known as First Bank). He spent 38 years at the bank he loved so much, eventually becoming president of the bank. Retiring from the bank and Board of Directors in 1977, he and Helen spent their winters in Florida and summers in the Park Hills and Farmington area, where Helen now resides. John was a member of the Esther Baptist Church where he was a deacon and served in many different capacities, both in Sunday school and church.

Nettie Viola Winfield of Farmington passed away on October 4, 2003 at St. Francois Manor, at the age of 95 years. She was born on April 14, 1908, at Bluford, IL,the daughter of the late John and Mae (Machanahay) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Joseph Winfield, two sons, Leo and Joseph, a grandson, Jimmy Winfield, two brothers, John Smith and Raymond Smith, and two sisters, Ruby Fry and Berniece Bowling. She is survived by four daughters, Imogene Province and husband Wilburn of Irondale, Mary Winfield of Farmington, Rose Marie Sikes and husband Fred of Bonne Terre and Janet King and husband Dale of Park Hills, a step-son, William Winfield of the State of New Mexico, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, lots of friends and co-workers also survive.

Memorials may be directed to Safe Harbor Hospice.

Horace Leon “Lee” Clark of Farmington passed away on September 29, 2003, at St. Louis University Hospital, at the age of 66 years. He was born on May 22, 1937, in St. Louis, the son of Alma Mae (Williams) Clark and the late Horace E. Clark. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Hoge) Clark, mother, Alma Mae (Williams)Clark and Uncle Ernie Williams, both of Farmington, two sons, Lee Clark and wife Lisa of Lusby, MD, Scott Clark and wife Sonya of Brashear, two daughters, Sharlyn and husband Todd Kline of Goodman and Shelly and husband Eddie Haer of Omaha, NE, mother-in-law, Marie Hoge of Ellisville, two brothers-in-law, Howard Hoge and Ronald Sczepanski, three sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Hoge, Audrey Sczepanski and Sandy Hoge, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

Mr. Clark proudly served his country with the United States Navy.

Mr. Clark had retired after working 33 years for the MO Department of Natural Resources, being employed as a State Park Superintendent. Lee had worked in the following Missouri State Parks: Sam A. Baker, Elephant Rock, Fort Davidson Historic Site at Pilot Knob, Mark Twain, Battle of Athens, Big Lake, Trail of Tears and Robertsville. Mr. Clark was a member of the VFW Post #5896 of Farmington and was also a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Artie Mae Secord
April 02, 1943 - September 15, 2003

Artie was born on April 2, 1943, at Doe Run, the daughter of the late Noah Robert and Bessie Weddle Bayless. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Donald, a brother, John Bayless and a sister, Berniece Brewer. She is survived by four sons, David Bayless of Riverside, CA, Ronald Bayless of Sullivan, Jack Wright of Farmington and Michael Wright and his wife Brittany of Springfield, a daughter, Violet Wright of House Springs, four sisters, Betty Sides and Stella Bayless of Farmington, Barbara Smith of Washington and Mary L. Jones of Sand Springs, OK, a brother, Jim Bayless of Irondale, a granddaughter, Jo Cagle, and grandson Kaden Bayless. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Artie worked as a medical technician at Maehill Nursing Center for many years.

Gerald M. "Pete" Hudson, Jr.
November 28, 1933 - September 14, 2003
Farmington, Missouri

Interment: Hillview Memorial Gardens, Farmington, MO

He was born on November 28, 1933, at Steele, MO, the son of the late Gerald M. Hudson, Sr. and Jay Helen (Winn) Hudson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ted Hudson. He is survived by his son, Neal Hudson of Farmington, special friend and companion, Sharon Hood of Farmington and a granddaughter, Breana Worley of St. Louis. Numerous relatives, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

Mr. Hudson retired as a baker at SEMO Mental Health Center. He owned and operated Hudson Cycles and Accessories in Farmington for several years and was an avid motorcyclist. He was a member of the Corvette Club and the Stick and Rudder Club, which was a group of pilots several years ago. Pete was a pilot and had been flying for over 45 years. He built his first plane when he was 25 years old.

Irene Eck was born on May 10, 1915, at East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of the late Marion and Anna (Majer) Kovachich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John J. Eck, by three sisters, Catherine Koches, Olga Kozak, and Anna Grunwald, and by two brothers, Stanley and Lacie Kovachich. She is survived by two sons, John Eck and wife Nancy of Farmington, Walter Eck and wife Sharon of Jackson, two daughters, Irene Eck of Farmington and Wilma (Gegg) McGuire and husband Don of Coffman, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Mrs. Eck was a homemaker. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farmington.

Harry Eugene Miller of Farmington passed away September 10, 2003 at the Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, at the age of 77 years. He was born on July 3, 1926, at Fredericktown, the son of the late Charles and Serina Luceita (Tinkler) Miller. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Aldolph C. Miller. He is survived by his wife, Esther Marie (Wade) Miller, three daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Roy) Tesreau of Cape Girardeau, Patricia (Mrs. Bobby) Long of McClure, IL, and Lisa Miller of Farmington, two sons, Stanley Miller and wife Susan of Fredericktown, Darrell Miller and wife Donna of Stonypoint, two brothers, Charles Miller of Fredericktown, and Bill Miller of Silvey, a sister, Mary Helen Stacey of Fredericktown, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Miller served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Army.

Mr. Miller owned and operated a well drilling business. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church of Fredericktown. He was a member of the VFW Post #5896.
