ROY C. STARCHER

Roy C. Starcher, 64, Independence, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Starcher was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Kirtland, Ohio, and had lived in Independence for three years. He was a roofer, and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

His survivors include two sons, Michael Hunter and Paul Allen Starcher, and a daughter, Norma Jean Starcher, all of Independence.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

MARY E. WEARS

Mary E. Wears, 101, Lee's Summit, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Wears was born Nov. 2, 1896, in Carterville-Webb City, Mo., and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker, a charter member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, and a member of the American War Dads and Rebekah Lodge 13. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wears in 1939, and a son, William H. Wears in 1944.

Her survivors include two daughters, Virginia Huntsman and Carolyn Freeman, both of Independence; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Robinson cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Jefferson Health Care Center, 615 S.W. Oldham Parkway, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64063.

LOIS E. AILSHIRE

Lois E. Ailshire, 81, Lee's Summit, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Lee's Summit Hospital.

Mrs. Ailshire was born June 13, 1917, in Dodge City, Kan., and had lived in the Independence area most of her life. She was a member of His Glorious Church.

His survivors include two sons, David Ailshire, Greenwood, and John W. Ailshire, Florence, Ky.; one daughter, Suzi Bollin, Greenwood; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the John Calvin Community Room, 310 N.W. Murray Road, Lee's Summit. Arrangements are under the direction of Park Lawn Funeral Home.

ALMA WATSON

Alma Hayes Watson, 90, Sugar Creek, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Watson was born Feb. 20, 1909, in Kensington, Kan. She was a meat wrapper for the Milgram Food Store for many years, and had been a member of Meat Cutters Local 576 since 1960. She was active in many civic projects and worked for the Democratic party. Her husband, Roy R. Watson, died in 1975.

Her survivors include one son, George W. Mossie, Greenwood; one daughter-in-law, Catherine Mossie, Lee's Summit; four grandchildren, Thomas, Janet, Joanne and Linda Mossie; five great-grandchildren; two nephews, Robert O'Renick and Jack O'Renick and their families.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown.

BONNIE L. CARTER

Bonnie Lu Carter, 74, Lee's Summit, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Carter was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Carterville, Ill. She was a member of the Woods Chapel United Methodist Church and Lakewood Oaks.

Her survivors include her husband, Billy Carter of the home; one son, Michael Carter, Peculiar, Mo.; two daughters, Karen Perry, Portland, Ore., and Kathy Knapp, Buckner; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

NORMAN G. CRIST

Norman Gene Crist, 69, Independence, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mr. Crist was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Kansas City and was a lifelong area resident. He owned and operated the Norman Crist Excavating Co. in Independence for more than 40 years, and was a member of Union Local 101. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Post 340.

His survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Crist of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Norman E. and Melodie Crist, Blue Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Roger Coen, Independence, and Jackie and Terry Fortner, Overland Park,

Kan.; his mother, Clara Crist, Kansas City; one brother, Billy D. Crist, Independence; two sisters, Cora Marie Railsback, Mayview, Mo.; and Beverly Ann Baldridge, Chillicothe, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

FRIEDA L. KALLMEIER

Frieda Lydia Jonuscheit Kallmeier, 60, Independence, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Kallmeier was born March 27, 1938, in Rosenwalde, East Prussia. She was a photo lab technician for H&H Color Lab in Raytown for 10 years, and was an avid hiker and nature lover.

Her survivors include her husband, Ernest Kallmeier of the home; one sister, Helene Switak, Valley, Neb.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robbie Lynn Sailor, Independence; and one granddaughter, Kristina Sailor.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Hillcrest cemetery, Omaha, Neb. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society for Multiple Myeloma Research.

GEORGIA M. MOFFETT

Georgia M. Moffett, 82, Lee's Summit, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Moffett was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Kansas City, Kan. She was a member of The Salvation Army Blue Valley Corps and a member and treasurer of the Ladies Home League. She was a secretary for the League of Mercy, co-founder and coordinator of the Forever Fifty Club, and a longtime volunteer for The Salvation Army, the Community Feeding Program and the Blue Valley Kiwanis Club. She was a 1997 recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for the Central Territory of the United States. She was a member of ILGWU Local 274, and the Pioneer Club of Nelly Don & Co., where she was a seamstress for 36 years, and was a former den mother and pack leader for the Cub Scouts. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles W. Stroud in 1950, and Kenneth O. Moffett in 1992.

Her survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Charlene Stroud, Bakersfield, Calif., Jim and Shirley Stroud, Lee's Summit, and Kenneth and Mae Moffett, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Silvers, Odessa; two sisters, Billie Antry, Kansas City, and Hazel Conant, Glenview, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Blue Valley Salvation Army Church, Kansas City. Burial was in the Pitts Chapel cemetery, Harrisonville, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Salvation Army Blue Valley Corps.

MARIETTA M. CLINTON

Marietta M. Clinton, 80, Raytown, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, at Monterey Park Nursing Center.

Mrs. Clinton was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Parkville, Mo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raytown, a den mother and volunteer for the Boy Scouts Troop #145.

She is survived by her son, Graig Clifton, of Lone Jack, Mo.; a granddaughter, Shelly Vaughn of Independence; a grandson, Billy Clifton, of Raytown, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the building fund for the First Baptist Church of Raytown.

MARY M. WILLIAMS

Mary Mae Williams, 91, LeeÕs Summit, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Village Care Center.

Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 28, 1907, in Miller County, Mo. She spent most of her adult life in Eastern Jackson County, including 20 years in Independence and 40 years in LeeÕs Summit, where she and her husband started and ran the Gambles Store for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Williams.

Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul G. and Anna Williams and Jerry L. and Darla Williams; and three granddaughters, Teri Williams, Tracy Williams-Healy and Gina Bradley.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Langsford Funeral Home, LeeÕs Summit. Burial will be in LeeÕs Summit cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

V. DALE LAUGHLIN

V. Dale Laughlin, 85, Odessa, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at the New Haven Nursing Home, Odessa.

Mr. Laughlin was born July 31, 1913, in Odessa. He was a railroad clerk for the Illinois Central Gulf, Odessa Depot and Kansas City from 1950 to 1975, an insurance agent at PatronÕs Mutual and Cameron Mutual from 1950 to 1997, taking over the agency from his father. He worked at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant from 1941 to 1946. He was a 40-year member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, where he was an elder emeritus and a past Sunday school superintendent. He was a 1932 graduate of Odessa High School, and a member of Mount Hope Masonic Lodge A.F.&.A.M. 476, Odessa, BRAC, Railroad Clerk Union, and the American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3482, Odessa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Luana J. Dalton.

His survivors include his wife, Charlotte L. Emis Laughlin, of the home; a son and daughterÐinÐlaw, William D. and Linda Laughlin, Justin, Texas; a daughter and sonÐinÐlaw, Elizabeth and Steve Lenhert, Parkville, Mo.; one brother, Howard Laughlin, Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Greenton cemetery, Odessa. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the church or the Odessa Senior Citizens Center.

FRANCES H. HERIFORD

Frances Hewlett Heriford, 88, Independence, died Thursday, June 10, 1999. Ms. Heriford was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Westboro, Mo. She worked for United Missouri Bank for more than 25 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Her survivors include a sister, Mary L. Tuckfield of Independence; and three nieces.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery.

ELSIE V. CORNELIUS

Elsie Viola Whiteaker Cornelius, 77, Independence, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Cornelius was born April 6, 1922, on the family farm in DeKalb County near Maysville, Mo. She was reared in DeKalb County and graduated from Maysville High School in 1939. She and her husband, an ordained minister, were associated with Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, east of Maysville, and for almost 14 years the First Baptist Church in Winston, Mo. In 1980, she and her husband retired from ministerial responsibilities. She is a homemaker, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Independence. Throughout her life, she was also active in Sunday school activities and Vacation Bible School teaching, and the Baptist WomenÕs Missionary Union.

Her survivors include her husband, Elbert L. Cornelius of the home; two daughters, Judith Troncin, Gladstone, Mo., and Elaine Peoples, Titusville, Fla.; two sons, Ron Cornelius and David Cornelius, both of Independence; one sister, Frances Ginn, Holt, Mo.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bram Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Maysville. Friends may call tonight and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday. The family suggests contributions to the Baptist Foreign Missions or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

LINDA K. HAHN

Linda Kay Hahn, 53, Maysville, Mo., died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at a hospital in St. Joseph, Mo.

Mrs. Hahn was born in Independence and had lived in Maysville for the past 24 years. She was a secretary at Crossroads Correctional Center. She was a member of the Maysville Restoration Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her survivors include her husband, Richard ÒDickÓ Hahn of the home; her mother, Vera Henderson, Independence; two sons, Steve Hahn, Kansas City, and Jeff Hahn, Amity, Mo.; a daughter, Lisa Peed, Independence; a sister, Diane Lynn, Maysville; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Restoration Branch RLDS Church in Cameron, Mo. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests contributions to the memorial fund of ChildrenÕs Mercy Hospital, Kansas City. Arrangements are under the direction of the Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.
