EMORY L. MORRIS

Emory Lee Morris, 54, Odessa, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Morris was born Oct. 26, 1943, in Stockton, Calif., and moved to the Sedalia, Mo., area when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Sedalia Smith-Cotton High School in 1961. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1966 which included Okanawa, Japan. He was the owner of Morris Construction Co. of Odessa and formerly of Sedalia. His business was building residential houses and commercial projects.

His survivors include his wife, Sue Caldwell Morris of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Junior Weaver, and Amy and Stacy Woods; and two grandsons, Michael and Matthew Weaver, all of Odessa; a brother, Richard Morris, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a sister, Bonnie Conrad, Houston, Texas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be in the Odessa cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

GOLDIE F. FRANCIS

Goldie Frances Francis, 85, Independence, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at the Regency Care Center.

Mrs. Francis was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and had lived in the Independence area since 1952. She was a guarantee closer for the Chicago Title Insurance Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Richard Francis, died in 1993.

Her survivors include two nephews, Jerry Howard, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Donald Howard, Minneapolis; a niece, Sally Hamlin, Ankeny, Iowa; and a close friend, Florence Rosenquist, Independence.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Des Moines. The family suggests contributions to the Heart of America Hospice, 9229 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. 64114.

FLORENCE M. GRABSKE

Florence M. Grabske, 92, Independence, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Grabske was born May 14, 1906, in Nodaway County, Mo., and had lived in Independence since 1917. She had been a registered nurse for more than 40 years, and had worked at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School, a member of The Groves RLDS congregation, and a former member of the RLDS Second Church congregation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Paul Grabske.

Her survivors include a sister, Mary A. Barnhard, Independence; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at The Groves Chapel. A private burial will be held at Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Outreach International, 221 W. Lexington, Suite 280, Independence, Mo. 64050. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Midtown Chapel.

BETTY L. YARBER

Betty LaVerne Yarber, 55, Independence, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Yarber was born May 29, 1943, in Kansas City, and had lived in this area her entire life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna LaVerne Yarber in 1966.

Her survivors include her husband, Don E. Yarber of the home; a son, David D. Yarber, and a daughter, Pamela S. Yarber, both of Independence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association.

WENDELL D. PRICE

Wendell Dickerson Price, 80, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Price was born March 18, 1918, in Harrisburg, Mo. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He had been an inspector for Ford Motor Co., for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Blue Springs Christian Church.

His survivors include his wife, Dixie June Price, Blue Springs; two daughters, Winnie June Rapp, Appleton City, Mo., and Nancy Kaye Sharon, Lexington, Mo.; three sisters, Dorothy Bogle, Auburn, Neb., Ruth Holmes, Columbia, Mo., and Lucille Klinefelter, Chillicothe, Mo.; a brother, Walter Price, Benton, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Blue Springs Christian Church; cremation. The family suggests contributions to St. Mary`s Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

KEVIN R. KIDWELL

Kevin R. Kidwell, 42, Lee`s Summit, formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in Kansas City.

Mr. Kidwell was born Sept. 19, 1956, in Independence, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a machine operator for the Jim Kidwell Construction Co., and a member of Local 101 of the Organized Labor/Operating Engineers. He was an Army veteran.

His survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James Robert and Debra Kidwell, Independence; a daughter, Tia Nicole Kidwell, Lee`s Summit; three brothers, Jim Kidwell, Greenwood, Dennis Kidwell, Kingsville, and Russel Kidwell, Blue Springs; two sisters, Norma Bourne, Blue Springs, and Linda Kidwell, Lee`s Summit.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

CHRISTOPHER J. SCHNEIDER

Christopher Jordon Schneider, infant son of Randy Schneider and Amanda Stephenson of LeeÕs Summit, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at LeeÕs Summit Hospital.

His survivors also include his paternal grandparents, Chris and Vickie Schneider, and maternal grandparents, Vernon Stephenson and Virginia Stephenson, all of LeeÕs Summit.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at LeeÕs Summit cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence.

GRACE J. PARKS

Grace Jane Parks, 67, Odessa, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Parks was born April 12, 1930, in Monegaw, Mo., and had lived in Kansas City, Denver, and the Lowry City, Mo., area before moving to Odessa in 1965. She was a homemaker. She was a 1948 graduate of Lowry City High School. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Odessa. She was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney C. Parks on Sept. 8, 1996, and Joseph R. Parks in 1962, and two great-granddaughters.

Her survivors include her husband, Lauren Keith Parks of the home; two sons, Mike Parks, Dallas, and Larry Parks, Odessa; two daughters, LuElla Parks, Columbia, Mo., and Melissa Haile, Odessa; four sisters, Mildred Brown, Warrensburg, Mo., Louise Goring, Lee`s Summit, Josephine Nichols and Marie Motley, both of Clinton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be in Greenton cemetery, Odessa. Friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Eye Foundation at Truman Medical Center.

CARL E. RUSSUM SR.

Carl E. Russum Sr., 71, McKinney, Texas, formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Columbia Medical Center, Plano, Texas.

Mr. Russum was born in 1927 in Independence, and had lived most of his life in this area. He was a carpenter by trade, and later in his life worked for the Belton School District, retiring 15 years ago. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances "Sherry" Majors.

His survivors include his wife, Frances R. Russum of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Russum Jr., Blue Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Russum, Raymore, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy A. Russum, Allen, Texas; two sisters, Mary Lou Francis, Sugar Creek, and Loretta Shaw, Hurst, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

LAURA MACZEWUS

Laura Maczewus, 73, Indepen-dence, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Maczewus was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Poland. She retired from Wilcox Electric Inc. in the 1980s as a lead master technician. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Walter Maczewus of the home; one daughter, Genoweva Foushee, Littleton, Colo.; and four granddaughters, Cynthia Ann Foushee-Ellingson, Sandra Kay Foushee, Laura Sue Foushee-McClung and Michelle Lynn Foushee, all of Colorado.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, where a rosary will be said at 3 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the ALS Foundation.

VERNON BALDWIN

Vernon Baldwin, 79, Independence, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at the Veteran`s Administration Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mr. Baldwin was born June 19, 1918, in Winston, Mo., and had lived in Independence most of his life. He was a roofer for Allen Meyers Roofing before he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Baldwin, and a daughter, Janice McKee.

His survivors include a daughter, Verlene Noel, Raytown; a stepdaughter, Trudy Barr, New York; a brother, Glenn Wayne Baldwin, Ravenwood, Mo.; and five grandchildren, Nikki Noel, Jay Noel, Virgil McKee, Kevin McKee and Jesse McKee.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

CHARLES R. BEAMGARD

Charles R. Beamgard, 47, Seattle, formerly of this area, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Beamgard was born July 11, 1950, in Kansas City and had lived in Seattle for the past 12 years. He was a welder for the General Motors Corp. for several years.

His survivors include two sons, Charles Beamgard Jr. and Charles Beamgard; a daughter, Michelle Beamgard; a stepdaughter, Chrissy Beamgard; a brother, Dennis Beamgard; and a sister, Patty Kanutsan.

Graveside services were today at Woodlawn cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel.

NORMA G. BELL

Norma G. Bell, 62, Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Bell was born July 16, 1935, in Independence. She was a waitress at Naders Steakhouse, and attended Plaza Heights Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband, William Franklin Bell of the home; four sons, Don Mitchell Houghton, Alta Loma, Calif., Scott E. Houghton, Blue Springs, Stanley A. Houghton, Ontario, Calif.,

and Steven Houghton, Bend, Ore.; a daughter, Debra Sue Morgan, Alta Loma; two sisters, Donna Sue Christopher and Linda F. Scarborough, both of Odessa; three stepdaughters, Sherri F. Baxter and Shannon Briscoe, both of Blue Springs, and Sheila Polson, Odessa; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were today at Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial was in Mount Moriah cemetery, Kansas City. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

GUY N. BEEMAN

Guy Newton Beeman, 33, Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Beeman was born March 27, 1965, in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. He was a mechanic for Gladstone Dodge.

His survivors include three sons, John, Dustin and Nicholas, all of Independence; his father and his wife, Norman and Connie Beeman, Parkville, Mo.; his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Chuck Owsley, and his stepmother, Linda Biesemeyer, all of Lee`s Summit; three brothers, Kirk Beeman, Independence, Kevin Anderson, Liberty, Mo., and Shane Rogers, Gladstone; a sister, Leslie Boucher, Kansas City, North; and several grandparents.

Services will be at 8 tonight at the Park Lawn Chapel, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the ALS Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

DARLENE S. HANDLEY

Darlene Sue Handley, 53, Independence, died Friday, May 1, 1998.

Mrs. Handley was born July 29, 1944, in Kansas City and had lived in Independence most of her life. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her survivors include her husband of 36 years, Donald Handley of the home; four children, Laurel Handley of the home, and Rhonda Livezey, Brenda Pinkley and Kevin Handley, all of Independence; and seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Dustin and Tabitha Gunter, Travis and Jordan Pinkley, and Mason and Mercedes Handley.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.
