DONALD R. FITZGERALD

Donald Roy Fitzgerald, 66, Douglas, Wyo., formerly of Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at the Michael Manor Nursing Home, Douglas.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born March 23, 1931, in Independence, and lived in Levasy before moving to Douglas in 1997. He was a carpenter and an Army veteran. He played the guitar, and enjoyed music and hunting.

His survivors include one son, Rick Fieldcamp, Douglas; four daughters, Beverly "Bossi" Herrick, Douglas, Ruth Ann Franz, Acton, Calif., and Tamara Arguello and Dawn Armstrong, both of Silver City, N.M.; one sister, Jean Winburn, Independence; 10 grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner. Inurement will be in Buckner Hill cemetery.

NICHOLAS E. HITCH

Nicholas Eugene Hitch, 15, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998.

Nicholas was born Nov. 30, 1982, in Yreka, Calif. He was attending Chester Anderson Middle School. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeremy Hitch in 1980, and his maternal grandparents, Marcus and Viola Smith.

His survivors include his parents, Darrell and Mayla Hitch, two sisters, Tabitha Hitch and Tara Hitch, and a brother-in-law, Adam Sapp, all of the home; paternal grandparents, Larry and Ruby Johns, Independence, and Dortha Brassfield, Overland Park, Kan.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Brooking cemetery, Raytown. The family suggests contributions to the Nicholas Hitch Memorial Fund.

CHARLES N. KINCAID

Charles Noah Kincaid, 63, Independence, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Kincaid was born June 20, 1934, in Climax Springs, Mo., and had lived most of his life in this area. He had been a designer draftsman for many years. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Blue Valley Corps of the Salvation Army. Until 1993, he had also been a volunteer worker for the Salvation Army for 20 years.

His survivors include his wife, Sharon Kincaid of the home; two sons, Craig Kincaid of the home, and Larry Kincaid, Independence; two brothers, George "Jerry" Kincaid and Clyde Marvin, both of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Vesper Stanley, Reynoldsville, Pa., and Judy Hobart, Melvern, Kan.; and two grandsons, Justin Charles Kincaid and Jordan Edward Kincaid.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Lee`s Summit Dialysis Center, 600 N.W. Murray Road, Lee`s Summit, Mo. 64063.

VIVIAN L. WILEY

Vivian L. Wiley, 76, Independence, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Wiley was born April 30, 1921, in Granby, Mo. She was a member of the Beverly Hills Baptist Churchin Independence. She served in several capacities in the church including Sunday school director, teacher and trustee. She was a member of the Kansas City Blue River Association Executive Board for many years. She retired from Western Electric after 20 years. She was a sponsor of William Jewell College. She was a graduate of Jane Hayes School in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert L. Owens in 1966.

Her survivors include her husband, Dale L. Wiley of the home; two sons, Gerald Owens, Gladstone, Mo., and the Rev. Buddy Owens, California, Mo.; a daughter, Cheryle Sitze, Marble Hill, Mo.; a sister, Lorraine Collins, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; four grandchildren, Doug Sitze, Brian Sitze, Holly Owens and Patty Owens; four stepgrandchildren, Jay Hembre, Jenny Hembre, Mike Grannan and Jason McCullough; two stepdaughters, Francy McCullough and Kit Kennedy; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Beverly Hills Baptist Church. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Graveside services will be in Floral Hills cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Cancer Fund.

MILDRED T. BURK

Mildred T. Burk, 88, Golden, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1998.

Mrs. Burk was born in October 1909, in Columbia, Mo., and she had lived in Blue Springs and Leadville, Colo., before moving to Golden. She was a school teacher in Leadville during the 1940s. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Her husband, Snell G. Burk, preceded her in death.

Her survivors include a son, S. Gordon Burk, Golden; a daughter, Beverly Freese, Dillon, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Laura and Jason Freese.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Webb-Freer Funeral Home. Inurement will be in Blue Springs cemetery.

PEARL I. GODFREY

Pearl Irene Godfrey, 91, Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Godfrey was born Nov. 9, 1906, in Lexington, Neb., and lived in Elsie, Neb., and Fresno, Calif., before moving to Independence in 1991. She was a member of the Fresno RLDS congregation. Her husband of 59 years, William Godfrey, died in 1985.

Her survivors include two daughters, Marjorie LaRose, Anchorage, Alaska, and Judie White, Independence; one brother, Ernest Kennicutt, Holtville, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Mountain View cemetery, Fresno. The family suggests contributions to the Foundation for Research of Ancient America (F.R.A.A.), 210 W. White Oak, Independence, Mo. 64050. Arrangements are under the direction of New Salem Funeral Home.

ALBERTA O. HEISHMAN

Alberta Othello Heishman, 90, Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at the Liberty Terrace Care Center, Liberty, Mo.

Mrs. Heishman was born March 3, 1907, in Brunswick, Mo., and had lived in Independence since 1936. She was a member of the Susquehanna Assembly of God Church for 31 years, where she taught Sunday school and was president of the Women`s Missionary for many years. Her husband of 64 years, William E. Heishman Sr., died in 1989.

Her survivors include five children, Alberta Fern Wright, Jewell Faye Mulkey, Wanda Rose Sims and Nancy Darlene Cooper, all of Independence, and William E. Heishman Jr., Liberty; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church, 622 Jennings Road. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church.

FRANK M. JOHNSON

Frank M. Johnson, 82, Kansas City, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Park Lane Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mr. Johnson was born May 30, 1915, in Independence, and was a lifelong area resident. He was an automatic press operator for Vendo for 26 years, retiring in 1976. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His survivors include his wife, Lois Johnson of the home; five sons, Frankis Johnson, Feasterville, Pa., Frank A. Johnson and Ricky Stillians, both of Kansas City, and Tony Stillians and Greg Stillians, both of Independence; one daughter, Teresa Johnson, Kansas City; one brother, Calvin Clark, McCloud, Kan.; four sisters, Clara Lance, Oak Grove, Ada Strange, Independence, Anna Bailey, Marysville, Calif., and Laura Lee Andruff, Grantsville, Utah; and 16 grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the George C. Carson &Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association.

JEWELL E. O`DELL

Jewell Elizabeth O`Dell, 88, Sedalia, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia.

Mrs. O`Dell was born March 31, 1909, in Jackson County, Mo. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Bethel Baptist Church. Her husband, Hallie O`Dell, died in 1982.

Her survivors include eight sons, William O`Dell, Versailles, Mo., Hallie O`Dell Jr., Blue Springs, James O`Dell, Alvin O`Dell and Kenneth O`Dell, all of Sedalia, Eugene O`Dell, Raytown, Terry O`Dell, Clinton, Mo., and Gale O`Dell, La Monte, Mo.; one daughter, Joyce Asbury, Leeton, Mo.; one brother, Gene Garrett, Grain Valley; three sisters, Cecile Hall, Independence, Bessie Standard, Odessa, and Vera Saunders, Blue Springs; 27 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Lone Jack cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

THEADORE E. POPE

Theadore Emmitt Pope, 58, Sibley, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Pope was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Kansas City.

His survivors include his wife, Esther Pope, one son, TheadoreII, and two daughters, Zenobla and Ashley, all of the home; five stepchildren, Michelle Darvishi, Columbus, Ohio, Leroy Silkwood, Independence, Bobby Silkwood, Kansas City, Lurinda Silkwood, Gladstone, Mo., and Charlene Silkwood, Oklahoma; one brother, Gary Crawford, Des Moines, Iowa; four sisters, Donna Frohm, Osceola, Mo., Sharon Hutto, Deweyville, Texas, Linda Wattenbarger, Missouri City, Mo., and Janice Cotton, Rantoul, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Buckner Restoration Church; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

WAYNE A. SHAW

Wayne Albert Shaw, 86, Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1998, at The Groves.

Mr. Shaw was born Oct. 22, 1911, in Minden City, Mich., and lived in Detroit, Bad Axe, Mich., and San Pedro and Santa Maria in California, moving to Independence in 1996. He worked in a war plant in Detroit during World War II. He joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1951, and eventually was ordained to the office of teacher, in the Aaronic Priesthood. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge, first in San Pedro, and then in Santa Maria. He formerly attended the Eastside branch of the RLDS Church, Detroit.

His survivors include his wife, Edmere Mousseau Shaw; one son, Gary Shaw, Santa Maria; two sisters, Marion Dawson, Harbor Beach, Mich., and Eunice Warezinsky, Deekerville, Mich.; and two granddaughters, Tracy Shaw and Sandra Shaw.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel.Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Dale Shaw Scholarship Fund, Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, 50140.

FRANCES D. WAGNER

Frances D. Wagner, 84, Independence, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Columbia Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Wagner was born March 17, 1913, in Salisbury, Mo., and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rebekah`s Lodge. Her husband, Orville Wagner, died in 1989.

Her survivors include one son, Kenneth Wagner of the home; one brother, J.W. Doke, Hobart, Okla.; one sister, Lucille West, Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Robert Wagner, Cynthia Gonzales and Christa Lester; and three great-granddaughters.

Services will be 9 a.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

CHARLES F. WHITE JR.

Charles Franklin White Jr., 67, Lakewood, Ohio, formerly of Independence, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998.

Mr. White graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1948, and Rockhurst College in 1952, with a bachelor`s degree in economics. He served in the Army in the Korean War. He was a licensed real estate broker for Missouri and Kansas, and had been a sales manager for Coldwell Banker and later president of Charles White Realty.

His survivors include his wife of 40 years, Jeanette Catherine Hardy White of the home; three daughters, Lynn M. Leikam, Overland Park, Kan., Margaret Christine, Raytown, and Catherine Denise, Tempe, Ariz.; seven sons, Charles White III, Houston, Paul White, Liberty, Mo., William White, Blue Springs, Michael White, Prairie Village, Kan., Gary White, Overland Park, and James White and Thomas White, both of Roeland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Margaret Lupton, Independence, and Charlene Wandell, Greensburg, Pa.; and 12 grandchildren, Doug, Jr., Danielle and Deidre Leikam, Charles Justin and Taylor White, Joey and Rachel White, Kelly Morris, and Allison, David, Sophia and Brett White.

Services were Tuesday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lenexa, Kan. Burial was in St. Joseph`s cemetery, Shawnee, Kan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
