N. MARGARET HILDERBRAND

N. Margaret Hilderbrand, 68, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Hilderbrand was born July 10, 1930, in Osceola, Mo. She was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband, John Hilderbrand of the home; four sons, Dan Hilderbrand, Milwaukee, Wis., and David Hilderbrand, Dennis Hilderbrand and Doug Hilderbrand, all of Blue Springs; one brother, Bill Roberts, Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Virginia Roby, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the church.

HAZEL McKENNEY

Hazel McKinney, 71, Lee`s Summit, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Lee`s Summit Hospital.

Mrs. McKinney was born Oct. 16, 1926, in Koshkonong, Mo. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McKinney in 1983.

Her survivors include two sons, Chuck McKinney, Tucson, Ariz., and Mark McKinney, Lakeside, Ore.; a daughter, Jenny Weiss, Lee`s Summit; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

RUTH BABB

Ruth Byrd Babb, 84, Chillicothe, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at the Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe.

Mrs. Babb was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Dawn, Mo., and lived in Kansas City and Independence before moving to Chillicothe in 1986. She was retired from the Girl Scouts of America of Independence and Kansas City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a graduate of Chillicothe High School and the Chillicothe Business College. She was also a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program of Chillicothe. Her husband, Carl H. Babb, died in 1987.

Her survivors include a daughter, Judy Huntsucker, Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Judy Babb, Gardnerville, Nev.; two brothers, Joe Byrd, California, and Rex Byrd, Kansas City; a sister, Mary Gwin, Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Shelley Recknor, Sharla Huntsucker, and Scott and Jon Babb; and five great-grandchildren, Cory Owens, Ely Recknor, and Christopher, Nichlas and Charlotte Babb.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. The family suggests contributions to the Mid Continent Council of Girl Scouts, in care of the funeral home.

FAYRENE J. MAY

Fayrene June Galloway Boyles Aubuchon May, 79, Oak Grove, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City.

Mrs. May was born June 22, 1919, in Green Forest, Ark. She was orphaned by a tornado in Arkansas at the age of seven and was adopted by a minister and his wife, Earnest and Cordie Boyles of St. Louis. She was a 1941 graduate of Southeast Missouri State College, Cape Girardeau, Mo., earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught many subjects in several school districts in Missouri, around St. Louis and retired from full-time teaching from Hickman Mills, Kansas City, in the late 1960s. She continued substitute teaching and tutored students who were having problems. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oak Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph May on Oct. 11, 1998, and a daughter, Mary Jane Cartwright.

Her survivors include two sisters, Lois Loban, El Dorado, Kan., and Frances Crites, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Jennifer Walsh, Shawnee, Kan., and Judith Longenberger, Granbury, Texas; seven grandchildren, Erin Walsh, Cathy Reynolds, Michelle Metje, Kristin Kealy, Sandra Longenberger, Jill Dobelbower and Brian Walsh; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel.

MAURINE S. JENKINS

Maurine S. Jenkins, 82, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Jenkins was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Paris, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.E. Jenkins, and a son, Wayne E. Jenkins.

Her survivors include one son, Gerald Jenkins; two daughters, Jackie Brownsberger and Pat Jenkins; one sister, P.E. Harrison; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Mount Moriah Terrace Park Interment Chapel, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice.

KENNEY L. BUCKLEY

Kenney Lee Buckley, 50, Independence, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Grain Valley.

Mr. Buckley was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Warsaw, Mo., and had lived in this area for 30 years. He was a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Greater Kansas City Skydiving Club. He was an Army veteran, a member of the American Postal Workers Union and the AFL-CIO of greater Kansas City. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Summer Buckley in 1997.

His survivors include three sons, Brad Buckley, Joshua Buckley and Jeremy Buckley; two daughters, Shayna Robinson and Jessica Buckley, all of Independence; his father and stepmother, Raymond and Jean Buckley, Warsaw, Mo.; his mother, Marguerite Glenn, Camdenton, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sydney Buckley, Cody and Cady Robinson; a brother, Wayne Buckley, Kansas City; three sisters, Carol Morland and Roberta Henderson, both of Warsaw, Mo., and Deana Cole, Humble, Texas.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

LYDIA D. "DIDI" CATO

Lydia Diane "Didi" Cato, 69, Prairie Village, Kan., died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Mrs. Cato ws born March 20, 1929, in Mexico City, Mexico. She graduated from Grinnell College in 1951. She had been a secretary for 20 years in the anaesthesiology department of the K.U. Medical Center until retirement. She was an active member of the Village Presbyterian Church for 42 years, where she served as an elder and was a member of the Chancel Choir. Her husband of 40 years, Bob Cato, died Jan. 16, 1992.

Her survivors include her daughter, Cathy Foster, Blue Springs; two sons, Jim Cato, Kingswood, Texas, and Rick Cato, Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Natalie Fiess, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Olga Irvine, Port Jefferson, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Jeff and Megan Foster, Mallory and Shelby Cato.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road. Private inurnment will be in Mount Moriah cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. The family suggests donations to the music ministry of the church.

DONALD L. CULP

Donald Lee Culp, 52, Kansas City, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Research Medical Center.

Mr. Culp was born May 28, 1945, in Kansas City. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church, Kansas City.

His survivors include his mother, Frances Culp, Kansas City; two brothers, Robert Culp, Lone Jack, and Allen Culp, Kansas City; and a sister, Wilma Walsak, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City.

RALPH H. FIELDCAMP

Ralph H. Fieldcamp, 54, Buckner, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Fieldcamp was born March 23, 1944, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. He worked for the United States Army Reserve as a supervisor staff assistant in Independence. He was an Army veteran and retired from the reserves April 3, 1995.

His survivors include his wife, Donna Fieldcamp of the home; two daughters, Lisa M. Campbell, Jupiter, Fla., and Diana J. Fieldcamp, Kansas City; a stepson, Brandon L. Stevens of the home; his mother, Ruth C. Thorsen, Everett, Wash.; two brothers, Dirk H. Fieldcamp, Belleview, Wash., and Fred H. Fieldcamp, Monroe, Wash.; a sister, Rena Harper, Hawaii; a granddaughter, Alexendra E. Campbell.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Salem Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buckner Hill cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Regional Health Care Hospice Fund, 300 N. Osage, Independence, Mo. 64050.

LAWRENCE E. REEVES

Lawrence E. Reeves, 80, Independence, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Reeves was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Gravity, Iowa, and attended school and grew up in Kansas City. He also lived in Independence before living in Smithville, Mo., and returning to Independence in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal during World War II. He had worked for Sheffield Steel Co., Kansas City, and Lake City Ammunition Plant until retiring in 1980 with 20 years of service with Bendix. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine McMillian in 1958.

His survivors include his wife, Opal Marie Boyles Reeves of the home; a son, Lawrence Wayne Reeves, Bloomfield, Colo.; two

stepsons, James Cornell, Lee`s Summit, and J.R. LaQuet, Independence; two stepdaughters, Linda Littlebear, Independence, and Shirley Stroud, Lee`s Summit; a sister, Mabel Heath, Edgerton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mount Olivet Christian Church, rural Smithville. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery, Smithville. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The family suggests contributions to the Mount Olivet Christian Church. Hixson-Klein Funeral Home of Gower, Mo., is in charge of the arrangements.

DAVID G. SNYDER

David G. Snyder, 55, Independence, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Grain Valley.

Mr. Snyder was born Oct. 1, 1942, in Beloit, Kan., and had lived in Hutchinson, Kan., before moving to Independence five years ago. He graduated from Beloit High School and attended Phillips University. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a survival training instructor. He earned a bachelor`s degree in biology in 1971 from Kansas State College. He managed the airport at Herington, Kan., for several years before moving to Hutchinson and operating Sky Sports. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple and the Flying Fez of Kansas City. He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge 303 and the Scottish Rite Consistory of Wichita, Kan.

His survivors include his wife, Darlene Snyder of the home; a daughter, Holly Anderson, Kansas City; a stepson, Chuck Burris, Blue Springs; a stepdaughter, Julie Still, Independence; a brother, Alan Snyder, Beloit, Kan.; a sister, Jean Ogle, Independence; a grandson, David Labaugh, Kansas City; four nieces; and two nephews.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Blue Springs Christian Church, 4000 S.W. Christensen, Blue Springs; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Shriners Burn Center in Galveston, Texas, in care of the Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, Mo. 64129. Arrangements are under the direction of Newcomer`s Noland Road Chapel.

MARY A. PEACOCK

Mary Alice Peacock, 65, Independence, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Peacock was born March 4, 1933, in Hartford, Tenn., and had lived in North Carolina before moving to Independence 18 years ago. She had worked for 10 years at Alphapointe Association for the Blind, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Susquehanna Assembly of God.

Her survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Marshall, Asheboro, N.C., and Cathy Williams, Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Calvin Peacock, Salisbury, N.C.; a brother, Kenny McGana, Oak Grove; and two grandsons, Charles Smith and William Estes.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

MARTHA L. RAYNES

Martha Lee Raynes, 68, Independence, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Raynes was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Oak Grove, and had lived in Independence for most of her life. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 47 years, Clarence L. Raynes of the home; a daughter, Nancy McBrayer, Independence; three sisters, Loetta Donnice, Kansas City, and Ethel Raynes and Charlene Hamilton, both of Independence; a brother, Robert E. Grarrett, Kansas City; and a grandson, Harvey McBrayer, Independence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Independence Regional Hospice.

MARVIN W. SANDERS

Marvin W. Sanders, 83, Concordia, Mo., died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Western Missouri Medical Center, Warrensburg, Mo.

Mr. Sanders was born Feb. 24, 1915, in Green Ridge, Mo., and had lived in Concordia for 47 years. He was a member of the Concordia Baptist Church. He farmed in the Alma and Concordia areas throughout his life.

His survivors include his wife, Leona G. Sanders of the home; four sons, Dale Sanders, Del Rio, Texas, Jerry Sanders and Roger Sanders, both of Concordia, and Melvin Sanders, Oak Grove; two daughters, Joyce Langkrahr, Concordia, and Cheryl Sanders of the home; three sisters, Marguerite Ficken, Concordia, Esther Weller, Louisville, Ky., and Edith Weaver, Salem, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Concordia Baptist Church. Burial will be in Concordia Baptist cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Berg Mortuaries, Concordia Chapel.

DOROTHY M. "DOTTIE" VANSANDT

Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Vansandt, 75, Harrisonville, Mo., died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Research Medical Center.

Mrs. Vansandt was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Sedalia, Mo., and had lived in Sedalia, Knob Noster, Grandview, all in Missouri, and Coronado, Calif., and Archie, Mo., before moving to Harrisonville in 1988. She was Cass County Public Administrator from 1977 through 1992. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bayard Chapter 179 Order of the Eastern Star, a board member for Cassco Area Workshop, all of Harrisonville. She was also a member of Cass County Central Democratic Committee, Cass County Women`s Democratic Club, Shrine Circus Mom and was named Cass County Democratic Women of the year in 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bliss Vansandt on Dec. 1, 1996.

Survivors include a son, James M. Blaine, Blue Springs; a daughter, Barbara Long, Nevada, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Gaynelle Wells, Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 today at the United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church Memorial fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

FORESTA PARKS

Foresta Parks, 61, Independence, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Parks was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Independence, and was a lifelong Independence resident. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband of 43 years, James Parks of the home; two sons, Kenneth J. Parks and Kyle D. Parks, and three daughters, Kim S. Crawford, Kellie M. Swenson and Kristina L. Bruntmeyer, all of Independence; two brothers, James Kelly, Fort Worth, Texas, and Don Lewis, Raytown; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mound Grove cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence.
