WILLIAM E. PETITT

William Eugene Petitt, 71, Warsaw, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Petitt was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Boonville, Mo. He was a member of the Kensington Avenue Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason with East Gate Lodge 630, American Legion Post 499, Ararat Shrine and an Army veteran.

His survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Petitt of the home; three sons, William G. Petitt and Gerald W. Wright, both of Independence, and Anthony S. Wright, Warsaw, Independence; three daughters, Teresa M. Lee, Grandview, and Dianna L. Wright and Christina L. Montoya, both of Warsaw; one brother, Albert K. Petitt, New Jersey; one sister, Mary C. McDaniels, Independence; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carson Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the chapel, where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m.

WILFRED "BILL" SHOTTON

Wilfred "Bill" Shotton, 76, Grandview, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at Villa Saint Joseph.

Mr. Shotton was born in Stonington, Ill., in 1922. He retired from Pacific Telephone Co. after 38 years of service. He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II in the Okinawa theater. He formerly served as an elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and he and his wife started the Prime Timers group in Grandview. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne Shotton in 1975.

His survivors include his wife, Eunice G. Shotton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra S. and Stephen Nelson, California; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Connie Shotton, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Jerold and Jon Shotton, and Patrick and Kari Nelson; one sister, Lillian Smith, Independence; and two brothers, James Shotton, Oak Grove, and Robert Shotton, Weslaco, Texas.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City; cremation following. Private inurnment services will be held at a later date in Green Lawn cemetery, Kansas City.

WILLIAM M. THOMAS

Retired Navy Capt. William M. Thomas, 88, Independence, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at the Rosewood Health Care Center.

Capt. Thomas was born May 11, 1910, in Sedalia, Mo. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and received a degree in dentistry. Shortly before World War II, he entered the U.S. Navy Officer Corps, and fought in the South Pacific Theater, where he received the Bronze Star with Combat "V", awarded for heroism at the Battle of Guadelcanal while serving on the USS New Orleans. He also served aboard the USS Missouri. He retired from the Navy in 1971 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Martha L. Thomas on Nov. 30, 1998.

His survivors include three children, Rogers M. Thomas, North Fork, Idaho, William M. Thomas Jr., Barrow, Ark., and Martha L. Davidson, Kent, Wash.; five grandchildren; and one sister, Gladys Goodlive-Townsend, Albuquerque, N.M.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Salem cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the New Salem Baptist Church.

RAYMOND E. ARMSTRONG

Raymond E. Armstrong, 83, Liberty, Mo., died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Liberty Hospital.

Mr. Armstrong was born July 1, 1914, in Calumet, Okla. He ownedat Maywood Terrace Living Center.

Mr. Ginnings was born July 10, 1927, in Eldridge, Mo. He worked for City Block for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ginnings, in 1993.

His survivors include two sons, Lawrence R. Ginnings and Charles L. Ginnings, both of Independence; four daughters, Teresa

His survivors include his wife, Augusta, of the home; two daughters, Donna Bogue, Holt, Mo., and Kathleen Bennett, Independence; one brother, Ralph, Turlock, Calif.; four grandchildren, Kim Enriquez, Brian Bogue, Sherrie and Debra Bennett, and two great-grandsons, Nicholas Bogue and Anthony Enriquez.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at Liberty RLDS Church, 1220 W. Liberty Drive, in Liberty. Burial will be in Glenridge cemetery in Liberty. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty. The family suggests memorial contributions to the RLDS Church Building Fund _ Liberty Congregations or to the Liberty Hospital Foundation.

LAWRENCE "REDBUD" GINNINGS

Lawrence "Redbud" Ginnings, 70, Independence, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Maywood Terrace Living Center.

Mr. Ginnings was born July 10, 1927, in Eldridge, Mo. He worked for City Block for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ginnings, in 1993.

His survivors include two sons, Lawrence R. Ginnings and Charles L. Ginnings, both of Independence; four daughters, Teresa L. Adams, Linda J. Rowland and Sherl L. Parker, all of Independence, and Lois A. Aery, Tebbetts, Mo.; three brothers, Tom and Curtis Ginnings, both of Blue Springs, and Joe Ginnings, Lebanon, Mo.; one sister, Barbara Cross, Jefferson City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Independence Regional Hospice Care.

JOHN J. ROBB

John James Robb, 85, Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998, at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.

Mr. Robb was born Feb. 15, 1913, in Charlestown, Ohio. He was an engineer for Western Electric. He retired in 1978. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Scottish Rite McDonald Masonic Lodge No. 324. He served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lucille Robb, in 1990.

His survivors include two grandsons, James Michael Beaman and John Wallace Beaman; and one granddaughter, Beth Michelle Beaman.

Services will be conducted by members of the McDonald Masonic Lodge No. 324 at 2 p.m., Monday, at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, at the chapel.

DORIS M. SANDAGE

Doris M. Sandage, 78, Independence, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Sandage was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Independence, where she lived all of her life. She was a member of the Independence Music Club and the RLDS Restoration Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Sandage, in 1992.

Her survivors include one son, Philip Sandage, Blue Springs; two daughters, Janice M. Finch and Marjorie L. Farren, both of Indepedence; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Mound Grove cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3800 S. Elizabeth, Suite 1, Independence, Mo., 64052.

Services arranged by Speaks Suburban Chapel.

ANNA BELLE LONG SHERMAN

Anna Belle Long Sherman, 88, Independence, died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Rosewood Care Center in Independence.

Mrs. Sherman was born Jan. 30, 1910, in Independence. She was a 1927 graduate of William Chrisman High School. She was a member of the Laurel Club of Independence, and served as president of the board. She also was a member of the Independence Regional Health Center Auxiliary and a member of the East 39th Street congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mrs. Sherman was a civilian employee of the Department of Defense for more than 27 years, where she did assurance and statistical work. She was head of the statistical control office at the Lake City Arsenal. She retired in 1972. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur S. Long, in 1944.

Her survivors include her husband, Ronald G. Sherman; one daughter, Anita L. Bailey, Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Robert S. Long, Lee`s Summit; two brothers, Kenneth I. Scott, Kansas City, and James E. Scott, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the East 39th Street RLDS Church, 15006 E. 39th St. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Mound Grove cemetery. The family requests contributions be made to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington, Independence, Mo., 64050.

FREDRIC C. TOWNSEND

Fredric Comer Townsend, 81, Sun City, Az., formerly of Blue Springs, died Jan. 26, 1998, at Walter Baswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City.

Mr. Townsend was born April 17, 1916, in Coffeyville, Kan. He was a truck driver for Mid-American Truck Llines for 20 years. He lived in Blue Springs from 1964 to 1992, before moving to Sun City.

His survivors include his wife, Laura E. Townsend; three sons, Michael Ray, Golden, Colo., Anthony Lynn, Lakewood, Colo., and Daniel William, Blue Springs; one daughter, Linda Diane Townsend, Higginsville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was cremated. Burial will be in Big Creek cemetery in Russellville, Mo., at a later date.

PATRICIA A. BISACCA

Patricia Ann Bisacca, 54, Kansas City, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center.

Ms. Bisacca was born Dec. 10, 1943, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for 20 years for Garnett Grain in Kansas City and for 24 years at Children`s Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Christ the King Parish.

Her survivors include two sisters, Margarite Callahan and Lucille Petillo, both of Kansas City; three brothers, Pete Bisacca, Palo Alto, Calif., Domenick Bisacca, Kansas City, and Anthony Bisacca, Independence; 30 nieces and nephews; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral mass will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the Carson Funeral Home, 9100 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, where the rosary will be at 7 p.m.

GEORGE O. BLOOM

George O. Bloom, 86, Marion, Kan., died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Marion Manor.

Mr. Bloom was a lifelong Independence resident and had been a resident of Marion, Kan., for the past two months. He drove for Katz Drug Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Mount Washington Baptist Church, where he was deacon emeritus. He was a member of Teamsters Local 41. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora E. "Betty" Green.

His survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy B. Bloom; a daughter, Eula "E.B." Price; two sons, George O. "Corky" Bloom II, and Joe E. Green; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Washington Baptist, Independence. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the George O. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church memorial fund.

WILMA F. BRIDGES

Wilma Faye Bridges, 60, Osage Beach, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Wednesay, March 18, 1998, at the Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo.Mrs. Bridges was born April 23, 1937, in Brumley, Mo., and had lived in Independence before moving to Osage Beach. She was employed with Electrovert prior to her retirement and had held the office of Priest in the Camdenton Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Her survivors include her husband, Don Bridges of the home; three sons, Skip Scrivener and Randy Scrivener, both of Baton Rouge, La., and J.D. Hunter, Osage Beach; a daughter, Melissa Yother, Montreal, Mo.; her mother, Cleo Jeffries, Osage Beach; two sisters, Barbara Jean Hilton, Drexel, Mo., and Elizabeth Webb, Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Camdenton RLDS Church. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery, Kaiser, Mo. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at the Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Socity.

WILLIAM J. "BILL" EICHELBERGER

William J. "Bill" Eichelberger, 81, Independence, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Eichelberger was born Feb. 25, 1917, in East St. Louis, Ill., and had lived in Independence for 40 years. He retired as an inspector for Armco Steel after 34 years of service. He was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

His survivors include his wife of 40 years, Eleanora Eichelberger of the home; a son, Bill Eichelberger, Oregon; a daughter, Janet Norman, Independence; two brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation. Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family requests no flowers.

FRANCES L. FLUHRER

Frances L. Fluhrer, 87, Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at the Blue Springs Care Center.

Mrs. Fluhrer was born Jan. 3, 1911, in Minot, S.D., and had lived in Independence for 53 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Matthew`s United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester J. Fluhrer in 1992.

Her survivors include two sons, Robert C. Fluhrer, Beaumont, Texas, and Richard J. Fluhrer, Blue Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Boy Scouts of America Heart of America Council, 10210 Holmes, Kansas City, Mo. 64131. Arrangements are under the direction of George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

MARY J. POTTER

Mary Jane Potter, 45, Jefferson City, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Potter was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Independence. She was a graduate of Van Horn High School. She was employed with Gerbes East from 1989-1992 and with Lab Corp. from 1992 to the present. She was a member of the East Side Assembly of God in Eldon, Mo.

Her survivors include her husband, Greg H. Potter of the home; her mother, Lorene Clark, Jefferson City; two sons, Jeffrey Ray Comstock, Maryville, Mo., and Christopher Lee Potter, Jefferson City; a daughter, Cynthia Sue Comstock, Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Melvin Ervin Wilson, Holts Summit, Mo.; a sister, Betty Wilson, Eldon, Mo.; and a grandson, Tyler Anson Paige, Lakewood, Colo.

Services will 1 p.m. Saturday at the East Side Assembly of God in Eldon. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Houser-Millard Jefferson City Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mary Jane Potter Memorial Fund in care of the UMB Bank, 300 Dix Road, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
