ROBERT G. "BOB" OSBORN

Robert Gene "Bob" Osborn, 68, Independence, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, in Independence.

Mr. Osborn was born Feb. 2, 1930, near Kellerton, Iowa. He was a 1948 graduate of Mount Ayr (Iowa) High School. After a long career in the agri-business, he retired in October 1991. He was an accomplished craftsman and applied those talents in the restoration of a Beaconsfield farmhouse. He was a collector of antique farm implements and equipment.

His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Norma Whitson Osborn of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Richard Heider; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandy Osborn; a sister, Thelma Osborn Bonner; five grandchildren, Ryan Heider, Allison Heider Chern, Carolyn Heider, Andrew Osborn and Aaron Osborn; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home, Mount Ayr. Burial will be in the Ellston (Iowa) cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions in his memory to the Independence Public School Foundation, which funds scholarships for area students.

TABATHA R. FANNON

Tabatha Rochelle Fannon, 7, Oak Grove, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Children's Mercy Hospital.

Tabatha was born March 24, 1992, in Oklahoma City. She was a student at Oak Grove Primary School.

Her survivors include her parents, Randy and Angela Burnett of the home; two sisters, Marci Burnett and Ashley Burnett, and a brother, Anthony Fannon, all of Oak Grove; maternal grandparents, LaDonna Jack, Oklahoma, and Gerry Fannon, Kansas City; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Vanna Burnett, Independence; and a great-grandmother, Ramona Jack, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.

CLYDE L. GARRETT

Clyde L. Garrett, 88, Independence, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Garrett was born March 21, 1911, in Winterset, Iowa, and had lived in this area for 40 years. He was an accountant for Roper Distribution for 17 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence. His wife, Thelma Garrett, died in 1987.

His survivors include three sons, Dallas Garrett, Overland Park, Kan., James Garrett, Half Moon Bay, Calif., and Jeff Garrett, Leawood, Kan.; one daughter, Nancy Garrett, Cumming, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel.

LOVEDA BICKLEY

Loveda Bickley, 67, Independence, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Bickley was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Torrington, Wyo., and had lived in Independence most of her life. She owned and operated Loveda's Beauty Salon in Independence.

Her survivors include her husband, Tom Bickley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Skip Allen, and a son and daughter-in-law, Tom Bickley Jr. and Patti, all of Independence; two sisters, Mary Lou Taylor, Wichita, Kan., and Janet Heiple, Lone Jack; her father, Robert E. Gardner, Blue Springs; three grandchildren, Ellie Bickley, Jessica Allen and Patrick Allen; and two stepgrandchildren, Bob Allen and Joshua Nicholas.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

DALBERT W. WIELIGMAN SR.

Dalbert William Wieligman Sr., 87, Kansas City, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at the St. Joseph Health Care Center.

Mr. Wieligman was born Jan. 6, 1911, in Troy, Mo. He was an operator for Proctor and Gamble for 39 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church, and was an avid bowler. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

His survivors include his wife, Rose A. Wieligman of the home; a son, Dalbert W. Wieligman Jr., Lee's Summit; two daughters, Rita M. Mills, Lewiston, Idaho, and Mary Margaret Griswold, Hot Springs, Ark.; a sister, Ella Marie Sehrt, Independence; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.

OTTILIA SCHULER

Ottilia Schuler, 78, Independence, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the White Ridge Care Center, Lee's Summit.

Mrs. Schuler was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Kipfenberg, Germany. She

was a baker for the Mission Hills Country Club before she retired.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gertraud and Chester Wingo, Independence; two grandchildren, Chester Allen Wingo, Blue Springs, and Jackie Horn, Lee's Summit; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills cemetery, Raytown. Arrangements are under the direction of the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit.

LUCY A. "DEE" PRITCHARD

Lucy Ann "Dee" Pritchard, 69, Independence, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Pritchard was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Thayer, Mo., and had lived in this area most of her life. She was an avid bowler and crafter.

Her survivors include her husband of 49 years, J.C. Pritchard of the home; a son, Daniel J. Pritchard, Independence; one brother, James Rogers, Kansas City; four sisters, Virginia Rankin and Shirley Maxberry, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Evelyn Rogers, Independence, and Joan Rogers, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

KYLE D. ROARK

Kyle Dee Roark, 77, Independence, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mr. Roark was born June 10, 1921, in Rockcreek, N.C., and had lived in Independence for 23 years. He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1975, and was a member of the Carpenters Union of Central Washington. He was an Army veteran.

His survivors include two sons, John Roark, Independence, and David Roark, Kansas City; three brothers, Ralph Roark, Portland, Ore., Joe Roark, Kennett Square, Pa., and Bud Roark, Hockessin, Del.; three sisters, Virginia Watson, Kennett Square, Georgia Perry, West Jefferson, N.C., and Libby Price, Creston, N.C.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

RUTH M. JACOBS

Ruth Marie Rogers Jacobs, 92, Raytown, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Park Lane Medical Center.

Mrs. Jacobs was born March 6, 1906, in Kansas City. She was a member of the Pittman Road Church of God and the Jolly 60's. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Eugene Scharnhorst, Independence; two brothers, Melvin Wolford and David Wolford, both of Marshall, Mo.; one sister, Doris Carmichael, North Kansas City; four granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sheil Colonial Chapel, Raytown. Burial will be in the Slater (Mo.) cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church.

BETTY S. McDONALD

Betty Sue McDonald, 60, Harlingen, Texas, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, in Harlingen, Texas.

Mrs. McDonald was born Oct. 14, 1938, in Gassville, Ark., and she had lived in Baxter Springs, Kan., before moving to Independence. She was a graduate of Central High School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Independence. She was a member of the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 42 years, Rex McDonald of the home; three sons, Denny McDonald, Oak Grove, David McDonald, St. Joseph, Mo., and James McDonald, Everst, Wash.; her mother, Alma Patterson, Blue Springs; a sister, Mary Lou Herbst, Belton; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Inurnment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Garden. The family suggests contributions to The National Kidney Foundation, 1900 West 47th Place, Suite 310, Westwood, Kan. 66205.

BERYL D. KARR

Beryl Dean Karr, 78, Warsaw, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at home.

His survivors include his wife, Betty L. Karr of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Joe and DeAnna Karr, Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Junior Karr, Warsaw; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Dean Karr and Jerry Wayne Karr.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

AARON M. SAWTELL

Aaron Michael Sawtell, 11, Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home.

Aaron was born in Marceline, Mo., and had lived in this area for 10 years. He was a sixth grade student at Ott Elementary School. He was a Boy Scout and an honor roll student. He was a member of Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church.

His survivors include his parents, Scott and Tonya Hartsell-Sawtell of the home; his paternal grandparents, Bob Sawtell, Springfield, Mo., and Joyce Darr, Westwood, Kan.; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Ann Hart-sell, Clinton, Mo.; his maternal great-grandparents, Bertha Thomas, Lee's Summit, and Allen Vernon Lee, Clinton; his paternal great-grandmother, Pauline Greer, Kansas City; and his aunt, Teri Sifers, Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Blackman Chapel, where friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time; cremation.

GENE BERRY

Gene Berry, 68, Odessa, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at St. Mary`s Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mr. Berry was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Phoenix, Ariz., and had lived in the Kansas City area and Grove, Okla., before moving to Odessa in 1972. He owned and managed Gene Berry`s Landscape Co., Odessa, since 1990. He had been a carpenter, working out of Carpenter`s Local Union 41, in Kansas City commercial construction since 1948, retiring in 1990. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Eakin in 1979, and a grandchild, Brooke Snyder.

His survivors include his wife, Jeanne Berry of the home; four sons, Steve and Donna Eakin, Sebastopol, Calif., Craig Seevers, Kansas City, Brian and Kim Seevers, Glen, Miss., and Chris and Deborah Berry, Kansas City; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Doug Snyder, Odessa; three brothers, Everett Berry, Salinas, Calif., Bob Berry, Tahlaquah, Okla., and Bill Berry, Grove, Okla.; two sisters, Bonnie Boethin, Oologah, Okla., and Lou Ann Murry, Louisburg, Kan.; and five grandchildren, Lindsey Snyder, Brandon and Justin Seevers, Jennifer Jones and Rachel Eakin.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be in Odessa cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Brooke Snyder Scholarship Fund.

PEARL M. CLAY

Pearl M. Clay, 77, Kansas City, formerly of Independence, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Simi Valley, Calif.

Mrs. Clay was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Frederic, Wis., and moved to this area after the war. She had taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in West Sweden, Wis. She also was a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards on the Blue Ridge Mall for more than 25 years. She was a longtime member of the Raytown Christian Church, where she was active in Sunday school and CWF. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy R. "Tommy" Thomas in 1987, and her second husband, Forda "Bruce" Clay in 1997.

Her survivors include one daughter, Kathy Smiley, Westlake Village, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mary Hankins, Olathe, Kan.; three sons, Andy Thomas, Lee's Summit, David Thomas, Hominy, Okla., and Charles Thomas, Savage, Minn.; four stepsons, Bob Fox, Osawatomie, Kan., Stephen Clay, West Plains, Mo., Jay Clay, Kansas City, Kan., and David Clay, Farmington, Mo.; three daughters-in-law, Ruth Thomas, Sally Burrichter and Lisa Amadore; one son-in-law, Chet Smiley; one sister, Eileen Lewellyn, Spring, Texas; one brother, Clifton Anderson, Moscow, Idaho; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. The family suggests contributions in her memory to the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), 2120 Stanley Hills Drive, Los Angeles, Calif. 90046.

JOSEPHINE SHIPMAN

Josephine Shipman, 65, Independence, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Shipman was born May 10, 1933, in Kansas City, and had lived in the Blue Springs and Independence areas most of her life. She was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church, Blue Springs.

Her survivors include her husband, Kenneth C. Shipman of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Charles Hawkins, Kansas City; three sisters, Ruth Calabrese and Deviana Thompson, both of Independence, and Mary Linder, Raytown; and one brother, Carmelo Calabrese, Connecticut.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

IVAN A. CACKLER

Ivan Allen Cackler, 68, Independence, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Cackler was a truck driver for Yellow Freight until his retirement, and was a member of Teamsters Local 41. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

His survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Victor Weaver, Shawnee, Kan., and Lauren Lyon and Nelson McGee, Kansas City; and three grandchildren, Erik, Ellen and Molly Weaver, all of Shawnee.

Cremation. The family suggests contributions to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Amos Family Fuenral Home.
