DR. ROBERT R. "SAM" TRYON

Dr. Robert R. "Sam" Tryon, 58, Brussels, Belgium, formerly of Independence, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in Brussels.

Dr. Tryon had been superintendent of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, Brussels district since 1992. Before Brussels, he had been superintendent of DODD`S west district in the United Kingdom that also administrated DODD`S schools in Iceland. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and earned his doctorate in school administration in 1985 from the University of Southern California. He had worked overseas since 1968. He had served on the local school advisory council, the community advisory council and the PTA. He had also been involved in the international clubs and Scouting.

His survivors include his wife, Joyce, and son, Brant, and daughter, Jennifer; his mother, Emma Tryon; a brother, Robert Tryon; and two sisters, Phylis Tryon Wynn and Deborah Tryon Resch.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the International Multiple Myeloma Foundation, 2129 Stanley Hill Drive, Los Angeles, Calif. 90046.

JULIA MORRIS

Julia Morris, 68, Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Morris was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Millers Falls, Mass. She was a registered nurse for Independence Regional Health Center before her retirement.

Her survivors include her husband of 47 years, William M. Morris of the home; two sons, Bill Morris, Independence, and Bob Morris, Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Theresa Brown, Kansas City; six grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City.

SHARON A. BANISTER

Sharon Ann Bailey Banister, 45, Lee's Summit, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Banister was born Oct. 18, 1953, in Kansas City and had lived in Blue Springs before moving to Lee's Summit six years ago. She was the former vice president of Castleguard Security System. She was currently a bookkeeper for Aero Express. She attended the Sheffield Assembly of God.

Her survivors include three daughters, Tabatha Babcock, Dallas, Texas, Amanda Banister, Waco, Texas, and Stephanie Banister, Kansas City; her mother, Marian Bailey of the home; two brothers, Stephen Bailey, North Kansas City, and Robert Bailey, Kansas City; a grandson, Christopher Myers; two uncles, George Cooke and David Cooke; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Speaks Suburban Chapel; cremation. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice.

ERNEST R. YOUNG

Ernest R. Young, 81, Blue Springs, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at his daughter`s home in Blue Springs.

Mr. Young was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Kansas City, and he had also lived in Alameda, Calif., and Powers and North Bend in Oregon. He was a graduate of Paseo High School. He was a metalsmith for the United States Government prior to his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 6102, Powers.

His survivors include his four sons, Lester E. Young, Abeline, Kan., Larry O. Young, Osawatomie, Kan., Ben E. Brock, Lake Lotawana, and Rick Harrelson, Lee`s Summit; a daughter, Sandra Nichols, Blue Springs; a sister, Corrine King, St. George, Utah; his former wife, Inez Perlman, Blue Springs; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel.

Lois M. Moulds

Lois Marie Moulds, 81, Leesburg, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Loudoun Hospital Center, Leesburg.

Mrs. Moulds was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Kansas City, and had lived in this area for many years before moving to Leesburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. Moulds on Oct. 6, 1981.

Her survivors include a daughter, Margaret Harris, Kansas City; one son, Michael Moulds, Leesburg; four grandchildren, Craig and Jolene Harris, Jennifer Mesh and Chris Moulds; and one brother, Glenn Rausch.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

JAMES E. MILLER

James E. "Cous" Miller, Forsyth, Mo, formerly of Independence, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in the St. John`s Regional Health Center, Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Miller was born in Independence in 1923, the son of Everett and Gladys Miller. A graduate of William Chrisman High School, he flew 100 missions over the "Hump" in the China-Burma-India Theater while a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. A captain, Miller earned the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as citations from the government of China.

He continued in his military service, and was a member of Batttery D, 129th Field Artillery, Missouri National Guard. He retired from the unit as a major. He also served as a trustee of the City Union Mission, Kansas City, and clerk for the Jackson County Election Commission. He was active in the American Legion.

In 1944, he married Delores Snavely. They lived in Independence until his retirement as vice-president of Mercantile Bank.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, of the home; a son, Jeffrey Miller, Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Mitzi Coffey, Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren, Christopher M. Coffey, James A. Miller and Kathleen G. Miller.

Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Speaks Midtown Chapel, Independence. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Independence.

ELSIE SHAFER

Elsie Shafer, 87, Independence, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in her home.

She was born Aug. 15, 1910, in Nahlem, Oregon, and had lived in the Independence area for about 20 years.

Mrs. Shafer was a homemaker. She formerly lived in Picker, Okla., and was a member of the Picker Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd, a daughter-in-law, two stepsons and a grandson.

She is survived by her son, Albert Shafer, Kansas City; three daughters, Clara Greaves, Independence, Freda Linn, Miami, Okla., and Darlene Ortega, Prairie Grove, Ark.; a stepson Earl Shafer, Fredericktown, Mo., and several great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

ALICE C. TOON

Alice C. Toon, 100, Polo, Mo., died Friday, March 20, 1998, in the Hillcrest Manor, Hamilton, Mo.

Mrs. Toon was a homemaker, a graduate of Kingston High School and a member of the United Methodist Church of Polo. She married John F. Toon in 1922, in Polo.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Brown Ribelin; and two sisters, Grace Ribelin and Vera Smith.

She is survived by her son, John T. Toon, Independence, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the United Methodist Church, Polo, Mo. Burial will be in Highland cemetery, Hamilton, Mo. Friends may call one hour before services at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home, Polo.

CHRYSTAL L. WILLARD

Chrystal L. Willard, 95, Independence, died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Willard was born April 24, 1902, in Detroit, Mich., and had lived in Independence since 1945. She was a member of the RLDS Stone Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl A. Willard in 1980.

Her survivors include two daughters, Irene Williams, Belton, Mo., and Erma Wise, Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; nine grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.

CLARENCE J. WULFEKAMMER

Clarence John Wulfekammer, 88, Odessa, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at the New Haven Nursing Home, Odessa.

Mr. Wulfekammer was born Oct. 27, 1909, in Levasy, Mo., and had lived in Odessa since 1975. He was a farmer and had also worked at a grain elevator in Kansas City from the late 1950s to the

early 1960s. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Levasy. He was preceded in death by a son, Max Wulfekammer on Dec. 23, 1989, and his wife, Vesta M. Wulfekammer on Feb. 11, 1989.

His survivors include his wife, Wanda Wulfekammer, Oak Grove; a daughter, Beverly Martinitz, Odessa; a granddaughter, Robin Shakeshaft, Odessa; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Wulfekammer, Oak Grove; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ cemetery, Bone Hill Road, Levasy. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa.

ERNEST C. MILBRANDT

Ernest Charles 'Erine Shike' Milbrandt, 79, Independence, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999.

Mr. Milbrandt was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Aberdeen, S.D. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired after 34 years of service form the Missouri Water Co. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society and Rosary Society. He was a volunteer for the St. Mary's Food Pantry, and was recognized for his efforts at a Bishop's Dinner.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Vern Lee Milbrandt.

Survivors include his wife, of 53 years, Martina Marie Milbrandt, of the home; daughter and son-in-law Lillian and Jerry Egleston, Independence; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kris Milbrandt, St. Francis, Minn.; brother Lloyd Milbrandt, sisters Inez Parsons and Lola Pautsch, all of Aberdeen, S.D.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown.

Friends may call beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel. A Rosary ie scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

KAYE BEGEMAN

Kaye Begeman, 49, Mayview, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Begeman was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Odessa, Calif. She had worked for Whitaker Cable in Lexington, Mo. and Acutek Inc., in Odessa from 1989 to 1995. She was a 1967 graduate of Odessa High School.

Her survivors include her husband, Ronald D. Begeman of the home; three sons, Nelson Dack Begeman and Lofton Chad Begeman, both of Odessa, and Damian Boe Begeman of the home; her mother, Arline Matthews, Odessa; two brothers, J.W. Matthews, Blue Springs, and Doug Matthews, Odessa; two sisters, Dana Arbogast and Wanda Wade, both of Odessa; and five grandchildren, Trey, Kirbie, Nickie, Cheyenne, Brittany Begeman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion United Church of Christ, Mayview. Burial will be in the Odessa cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, Odessa. The family suggests memorial contributions to the family`s choice.

JULIA MAE LIGHTFOOT

Julia Mae Lightfoot, 86, Kansas City, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, at St. Mary`s Manor of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Lightfoot was born Dec. 19, 1911, in Ola, Ark. She was born and raised on her family`s farm. Mrs. Lightfoot worked various jobs, but was primarily a homemaker and dedicated volunteer worker at her churches. She was a member of Sterling Acres Baptist Church. She worked in W.M.U., directed Sunday School departments and taught Sunday School classes for many years. Mrs. Lightfoot was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar R. Lightfoot Jr., who died in 1975.

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George and Dorothy Lightfoot; one grandson, Brian Lightfoot, and his wife, Vicki; one great-grandson, Renee Lightfoot; and one great-grandaughter, Brenden Lightfoot, all of Independence; a

sister, Eula Beatrice Chester, Banning, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Floral Hills Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Sterling Acres Baptist Church, the American Heart Association or The City Union Mission.
