ELOISE L. FERGUSON

Eloise L. Ferguson, 81, Blue Springs, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Monterey Park Nursing Center.

She was born March 4, 1918. She had lived in the Blue Springs area the last 2 1/2 years.

Her survivors include two sons; a brother; two sisters; and four grandchildren.

Cremation with memorial services at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel.

HENRY CRAIG

Henry Craig, 87, Independence, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Craig was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Leeton, Mo. He owned Henry's Barber Shop in Independence for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Glenwood Park United Methodist Church.

His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margueritte R. Craig of the home; one son, Larry Lee Craig, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

ELDRED W. ANDERSON

Eldred W. Anderson, 87, Independence, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence. Mr. Anderson was born June 3, 1911, in Centertown, Mo. He retired from DeTray Plating as a plant manager after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church, the Trustee's and Mens Club, Masonic Lodge 90 in Russellville, Mo., and the Independence Knife & Fork Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Lea Anderson of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald K. "Ron" and Linda Anderson, and one grandson, Nathan Anderson, all of Lee's Summit. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the memorial fund at the church.

CLIFFORD W. HEBERLIE

Clifford W. Heberlie, 84, Independence, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Mr. Heberlie was a pipefitter for General Motors before he retired, and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 93. He was also a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Erma I. Heberlie, died in 1992. His survivors include two daughters, Diane Heberlie-Cobb, Lee's Summit, and Lanna Ultican, Blue Springs; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or the America Cancer Society.

GERALDINE F. BEARDMORE

Geraldine F. "Jeri" Beardmore, 72, Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at the Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe.

Mrs. Beardmore was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Beresford, S.C., and was a lifelong Chillicothe resident. She was a self-employed bookkeeper for several years. She was also a personal secretary and the executive secretary for the Pendleton Trust Fund for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chillicothe, a Life Master of the ACBL, a member of the Jr. Sorosis, and a past member of the Jr. Culture Club. She was a 1944 graduate of Gregory (S.D.) High School.

Her survivors include her husband, Keith D. Beardmore of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas K. and Glenda Beardmore, Grain Valley; a daughter and son-in-law, Charmaine K. and Edwin Merrified, Kansas City; a brother, Richard Drey, Apopka, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe. There is no scheduled visitation, but friends may call until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the First Christian Church Elevator Fund or Hedrick Medical Center Home Health. Contributions may be mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Mo 64601.

DAVID L. SMITH

David Lee Smith, 79, Appleton City, Mo., formerly of Odessa, died Thursday, March 18, 1999.

Mr. Smith was born June 27, 1919, in Odessa. He was a retired business agent for a construction labor local union in Warrensburg, Mo. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having received the Asiatic-Pacific Area and Victory Medal.

His survivors include three daughters, Patty St. John, Lee's Summit, and Sue Bradley and Helen Mills, both of Warrensburg; two sons, David Smith, Sugar Creek, and Wright Smith, Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Hazel Tye, Odessa, and Dorothy King, Austin, Texas; a brother, C.D. Smith, Odessa; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held; cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

LEROY "BUM" DAVIS

Leroy "Bum" Davis, 81, Independence, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Davis was born Dec. 5, 1917, in St. David, Ill. He, along with his brother and father, owned and operated the Davis Grocery Store in St. David for 30 years. He was also a salesman for I-35 RV Sales, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Hill Cumorah RLDS Church. He was preceded in death by his second wife of 21 years, Halley F. Funk Davis in 1999, and a stepson, Gary Funk.

His survivors include two children, Roger Davis, Albuquerque, N.M., and Vicki McGinnis, Wyoming, Ill.; one brother, Ronald R. Davis, Galesburg, Ill.; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.

Services are pending. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, Greater Kansas City Division, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, Kan. 66212-1461. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

EUGENE R. SCHLOMAN

Eugene R. Schloman, 85, Odessa, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Croix Falls, Wis.

Mr. Schloman was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Higginsville, Mo. He was a retired sales manager from the Sears Retail Tire Store in Kansas City. He was a Mason and a member of the United Methodist Church in Laurie, Mo.

His survivors include his wife, Frances Hendrickson Schloman of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Darrell and Betty Schloman, Odessa, and Thomas Sugg, Indiana, Pa.; and one grandson, Darron Schloman, Odessa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. Burial will be in Higginsville City cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Christmas Lighting Fund.

RUBY M. JONES

Ruby Mae Jones, 85, Carlyle, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at the Carlyle Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Jones was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Dover, Tenn., and lived much of her life in Granite City, Ill., moving to Carlyle in 1973. She was a member of the Carlyle Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herby A. Jones on June 24, 1983, and a great-granddaughter, Maggie Jones.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jerry Kunick, Carlyle; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Physcilla Charleton, Collinsville, Ill., and Jerome and Jan Jones, Blue Springs; two sisters, Sylvia Edwards and Dorothy Teller, both of Granite City; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at the Zieren Day Funeral Home, Carlyle. Burial was in St. John's cemetery, Granite City. The family suggests contributions to the building fund at the church, or the Bethel Baptist Church building fund.

DR. JAMES E. WILLIAMS

Dr. James E. Williams, D.O., 72, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at his home.

Dr. Williams was born Oct. 4, 1926, near Foster, Okla. He attended college at Central State University, Edmond, Okla., received a Doctor of Osteopathy degree in 1948 from the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery, and completed a one year internship at Tulsa Osteopathic Hospital. He practiced family medicine for 41 years, retiring in 1989. He was active in local, state and national professional organizations, serving in various capacities, including committee chairmanship and presidency. He helped initiate and served for many years on the Missouri Impaired Physicians Committee and was active up to the time of his death.

He was a member of the Blue River Church of Christ, and Blue Ridge Optimist Club for more than 30 years and met with them for breakfast almost every Wednesday morning. He was also a member of the Independence Rotary, AOA, Jackson County Osteopathic Association, MAOPS, Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

His survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty A. Williams, two children, Dr. Robert L. Williams and Kimberly A. Roberts, and three grandchildren, Rachael Williams, and Kelly and Stacey Roberts, all of Independence; a sister, Marguerite Shelley, Oilton, Okla.; two nephews and two nieces who resided in the home from childhood, David and Bill Williams, Elizabeth Vaughan and Kathleen Williams; three great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Christian Family Services Inc., 10550 Berkley, Overland Park, Kan. 66212, a not-for-profit agency for adoption and family counseling, or to the Carondelet Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs, 201 West R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs, Mo. 64014.

ROENE SELBY

Roene Selby, 94, Independence, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Independence Health Center.

Mrs. Selby was born Oct. 10, 1904, in Pattonsburg, Mo., and had lived in Bethany, Mo., before moving to Independence. She had been a beautician from 1928 until retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Bethany, but had attended Christ Heartland Church in Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edgar Selby.

Her survivors include a cousin, Iola Elliott; two nieces and four nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral home, Bethany. Burial will be in Antioch cemetery, Bethany. Friends may call from 8 a.m. Saturday until service time. The family suggests contributions to the Christian Family Services and may be left in care of the funeral home.

ANNABELL BARNETT

Annabell Barnett, 78, Carrollton, Mo., formerly of Buckner, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at the Carroll County Hospital, Carrollton.

Mrs. Barnett was a former resident of Buckner and Wellington, Mo. Her husband of 44 years, Orville Barnett, died in 1983.

Her survivors include two sons, Orville Leroy Barnett, Wellington, and Harry Glen Barnett, Carrollton; three brothers, Bill Winfrey, Joe Winfrey and Glen Winfrey, and three sisters, Marjorie Jordan, Virginia McKay and Grace Wilcox, all of the Kansas City area; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oakland Methodist Church, 30701 E. Truman Road. Burial will be in the Oakland Church cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

ADA M. WOODS

Ada Mae Woods, 79, Independence, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

She was born June 29, 1920.

Her survivors include one sister, Floella Cadwell, Independence; two brothers, Russell Moss of the home, and Everett Moss, Kansas City; also her niece and nephew who were raised in her home, Bill Reynolds and wife, Cindy, Independence, and Brenda Cadwell of the home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Church, 14700 E. Truman Road. Friends may call from 7 to 8 tonight at the church. Contributions are suggested to the family to help defray funeral expenses.

MARTHA L. THOMAS

Martha Louise Thomas, 86, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at the Rosewood Health Center.

Mrs. Thomas was born April 25, 1912, on the Rogers Farm in Jackson County, and because her husband was a career Naval officer, she lived in several places throughout the country. She had been a teacher, and was involved in the various officer's wife clubs around the country. She was also active in the Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband, William Thomas of Independence; two sons, Rogers M. Thomas, North Fork, Idaho, and William M. Thomas Jr., Barrow, Ark.; one daughter, Martha L. Davidson, Kent, Wash.; one brother, Jesse Francis Rogers, Fawcett, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Baptist Church. Burial will be in Salem cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Midtown Chapel.

LEONARD W. WEBB

Leonard W. Webb, 90, Oak Grove, died Monday, December 27, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Webb was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Oak Grove and resided in Oak Grove for his lifetime. He was married to Pauline R. Western on January 14, 1935. He was employed as a newspaper carrier for the Kansas City Star & Times for 27 years, retiring in 1969. Following his retirement, he was employed part-time for the Town & Country Shopper in Oak Grove until several years ago. He was a 50-year member of the Oak Grove Masonic Lodge and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.

Webb was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline R. Western, on December 26, 1987. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Judi Webb, Oak Grove, Richard and Carolyn Webb, Big Timber, Mont., and Philip Webb, Manassas, Va.; a brother, Clem Webb, Independence; grandchildren, Dana Grittman, Bates City, Mo., Mike Webb, Sheldon, Mo., Stephanie Stibar, Richardson, Texas. and Richard Webb, Billings, Mont.; and great-grandchildren Britney Grittman, Chad Grittman and Brock Webb.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Royer Funeral Home, 101 E. 15th Street, Oak Grove.

MARGARET 'MAXINE' VYROSTEK

Margaret 'Maxine' (O'Brien) Vyrostek, 81, Jamesport, Mo., died Monday, December 27, at her home.

Mrs. Vyrostek was born February 9, 1918, near James-town, Mo., and was a lifelong resident of that area. She married Cary Vyrostek, August 24, 1937. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Christian Women Fellowship, Gallatin, and the Blake Community Club.

She was preceded in death by Mr. Vyrostek, October 9, 1978. Survivors include her children, Del Ray, Gallatin, Mo., Barbara Lent, Independence, Mo., Cheryl Lett, Cincinnati, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bram Funeral Home, Gallatin, Mo. Burial will be in Jamesport Masonic cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials will be held at Hedrick Medical Center Hospice Services, 498 Park Center, Chillicothe, Mo. 64601, or the First Christian Church Building, 111 E. Grand, Gallatin, Mo. 64640. Arrangements may be sent to Bram Funeral Home, Gallatin, Mo.
