BEVERLY F. WILLIAMS

Beverly F. Williams, 81, died April 1, 1998, in Pleasanton, Texas.

Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Kansas City.

Her survivors include her daughter, Linda Stone, San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Jackie Martin, Independence; three granddaughters, Niki Stuck, Sarah Stone and Kristal Stone; and four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Morgan and Tiara; and companion, Harry King, Buckner.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Washington cemetery.

MARJORIE L. DALTON

Marjorie L. Hahn Schroeder Dalton, 76, Kansas City, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Dalton was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Macon, Mo. She worked for Commerce Bank in Kansas City for several years during the mid-1950s and 1960s. Her husband, Lawrence Dalton, died in March 1999.

Her survivors include two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

ROWENA BODENHAMER

Rowena McNeely Bodenhamer, 84, Unionville, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999.

Mrs. Bodenhamer was born on Jan. 6, 1915, in Crittenden County, Ky., and moved to Missouri in 1937, where she attended Central Missouri State College. She taught in the Kansas City School District for 30 years. After her retirement, she moved to Unionville. Her husband, James Bodenhamer, died in 1974.

Her survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen Medlin, and a grandson, Joshua Medlin, both of Unionville; one brother, James Marcus McNeely, Homeland, Calif.; two sisters, Virginia Rice, California, Mo., and Sylvia Buck, Independence; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Sweeny-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, Warrensburg, Mo.

LINDA C. BRANDEL

Linda C. Brandel, 53, Bates City, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Brandel was born March 23, 1945, in Potosi, Mo. She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Oak Grove.

Her survivors include her husband, Stanley Brandel Sr. of the home; four children and their spouses, Jacki and Stanley Brandel Jr., Melissa and Gerald Harris, and Marsha and Kevin Kearney, all of Odessa, and Miranda Wethington, Pensacola, Fla.; four sisters, Faye Bauer, Louisburg, Kan., and LaVerne Thompson, Carol Scott and Iris McConnel, all of Potosi; four brothers, Harold Wilkerson, Oak Grove, Ronald Wilkerson, Bates City, George Wilkerson, Chicago, Ill., and Randy Wilkerson, Potosi; seven grandchildren, Dena Wethington, Monica and Sarah Harris, Rachel Kearney, Justin and Kyle Brandel and Seth Kreis; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Woods Chapel cemetery, south of Odessa. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.

DONNA L. KUHN

Donna L. Kuhn, 64, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Kuhn was born in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. For the past six years she had been employed in the Jackson County Office of Child Support Prosecution. She was a member of the Mount Washington Baptist Church.

Her survivors include her husband of 46 years, George Kuhn of the home; a son, Michael Kuhn, Independence; two daughters, Sharon M. Mullinix, Holt, Mo., and Sharon M. Mullinix, Independence; her father, Norval Browning, Independence; a brother, David Browning, Independence; a sister, Beverly Cunningham, Santee, Calif.; and a grandson, Brandon Mullinix.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the RLDS South Crysler Church, 3100 South Crysler, Independence. The family suggests contributions to the Humane Society.

JOYE A. MACKISON

Joye A. Mackison, 65, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Mackison was born in Canton, Mo., and had lived in Lewistown, Mo., before moving to this area 22 years ago. She had been a receptionist with Mackison Insurance Agency for eight years. She was a member of the Casbah Darlings of the Ararat Shrine. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints.

Her survivors include her husband, Ed Mackison of the home; three sons, Steven A. Mackison, Omaha, Neb., Edward R. "Skip" Mackison, Lee's Summit, and Allen R. "Rick" Macksion, Blue Springs; two brothers, Robert Baker, Mendon, Ill., and William Baker, Tioga, Ill.; a sister, Margaret Conrad, Peculiar, Mo.; a half brother, Larry Baker, Taylor, Mo.; a half sister, Linda Tedisco, Plainfield, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Speaks Suburban Chapel.

JOHNNY L. SMITH

Johnny Lee Smith, 48, Oak Grove, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 8, 1950, in Macon, Mo., and he had lived in Oak Grove for the past 23 years. He had worked for the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Bureau as an information system manager for the past eight years. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, the Oak Grove Little League and the Oak Grove Men's Softball Team.

His survivors include his wife, Terry Smith of the home; two sons, Chad E. Smith, Oak Grove, and Lucas J. Smith, Blue Springs; his mother, Nadine Hemme, Sweet Springs, Mo.; a brother, Floyd Smith, Granite City, Ill.; and a sister, Helen Yancy, Centerview, Mo.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Burial will be in Carpenter cemetery, Chilhowee, Mo. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

EMMA J. PARKER

Emma J. Parker, 86, Odessa, formerly of Sibley, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Parker was born May 22, 1912, in Joplin, Mo., grew up in Texas, moved to Leavenworth, Kan., in 1954, and to Sibley in 1977. She moved to Odessa in 1992. She was retired from the Fort Leavenworth Green House. She was baptized at the age of 10 in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and was attending the Odessa Restoration Branch. Her husband, Iral Parker, died in 1996.

Her survivors include two sons, Wendal L. Parker and Eldon R. Parker, both of Odessa; one daughter, Carrow Lynn Briggs, Winchester, Kan.; two sisters, Edith McClosky and Etura Smith, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Odessa Restoration Branch, on 131 Highway north of Interstate 70. Arrangements are under the direction of the New Salem Funeral Home.

C. ESTHER DELONG

C. Esther Delong, 90, Independence, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Delong was born Jan. 6, 1909, in Topeka, and had lived in Independence for 10 years. She was a food service worker for Kansas State University, Manhattan. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church. She was preceded in death by her

husband, Charles W. Delong, and two sons, Charles Delong Jr. and Claude Delong.

Her survivors include one daughter, Clara Ann Bolejack of the home; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Randolph Fancy Creek cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

VIOLA M. McGOVNEY

Viola M. McGovney, 90, Oak Grove, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. McGovney was born Oct 17, 1908, in St. Louis and had lived in this area for 20 years. She was an office manager for Wilcox Electric for several years.

Her survivors include four grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Anderson and Laura L. Mineo, both of Independence, Lisa J. Anderson, Austin, Texas, and Kendra D. Wessley, Rayville, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

DEBORAH L. BURGESS

Deborah L. Burgess, 39, Independence, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Burgess was born Nov. 16, 1959, in Brookfield, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident. She was a nurses aide at Independence Regional. She was a member of the Liberty Street RLDS Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years.

Her survivors include her husband of 20 years, Bill Burgess, and one son, Michael E. Burgess, both of the home; one daughter, Dawn M. Burgess, Lamoni, Iowa; and her parents, Shirley and Roy Smith, and two brothers, Justin Smith and Loren Smith, all of Independence.

Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, 416 N. Liberty St. The family suggests contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis National Society, Mid-America Chapter, 5442 Martway, Mission, Kan., 66205. Arrangements are under the direction of New Salem Funeral Home.

WAYNE C. CHERRY

Wayne Curtis Cherry, 38, Independence, died Friday, April 24, 1998, in Pierce City, Mo.

Mr. Cherry was born March 5, 1960, in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and had lived in Independence for the past 30 years. He was a CNC operator for Best Tool for 15 years. He was a member of Eastgate Christian Church, Independence.

His survivors include his wife, Annetta Cherry, and two sons, Ryan Curtis Cherry and Kyle Ray Cherry, all of the home; a brother, Donald L. Cherry, Union, Mo.; a sister, Linda S. Cherry Goff, Metuchen, N.J.; and his parents, Fred and Grace Cherry, Independence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Noland Road Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray expenses.

JULIA D. DEWITT-BAXTER

Julia D. DeWitt-Baxter, 28, Kansas City, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Liberty (Mo.) Hospital.

Ms. DeWitt-Baxter was born Aug. 6, 1969, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. She was a member of the Pleasant View Christian Church, Independence.

Her survivors include her grandparents, Charles and Margaret Wood, Buckner; her mother, Mary Lou Levy, Venice, Fla.; a son, Gene Anthony Baxter Jr., Independence; two brothers, Richard DeWitt, Overland Park, Kan., and Sherman DeWitt Jr., Fincastle, Va.; and a sister, Deborah Richey, Joliet, Ill.

Services will be at 2 today at the Pleasant View Christian Church, Independence. Cremation, with private inurnment services in the Buckner Hill cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Hope House in care of the Pleasant View Christian Church, 19114 E. Salisbury Road, Independence, Mo. 64056. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home, Buckner.

LORIS LYNCH

Loris Lynch, Blue Springs, died Friday, April 24, 1998.

Mrs. Lynch was born in Billings, Mont., and had lived in this area for most of her life. She was a member of the Raytown Christian Church. She was a member of the Ladies Lotawana Shrine Club, the Ladies VIP`s Shrine Club and a member of the Ladies Legion of Honor Shrine Unit.

Her survivors include her husband, Leroy Lynch of the home; two daughters, Deloris Montee and Judith Ramirez, both of Blue Springs; five grandchildren, Kristi White, Nichole Montee, Damian Ramirez, Dahlia Ramirez and Cory Montee; and a great-granddaughter, Josie White.

Private graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

JESSE F. PIKER

Jesse F. Piker, 68, Gravois Mills, Mo., died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Mr. Piker ws born Feb. 11, 1930, in Russell, Ark., and had lived in Kansas City and Independence before moving to Gravois Mills in 1978. He owned and operated Eldon Tire and Wheel in Eldon, Mo. He attended the Opened Door Christian Fellowship in Laurie, Mo. He had sponsored baseball teams in Independence for approximately 16 years, including a team that made it to the national finals in Tennessee.

His survivors include his wife, Edwina Piker of the home; two sons, the Rev. Jerry Piker, Laurie, and Norman Piker, Independence; a daughter, Pam Epps, Independence; five brothers, Frank Piker, Grain Valley, J.C. Piker, Monroe, La., Billy Piker, Oak Grove, Ark., Wayne Piker, Searcy, Ark., and Joseph Piker, Bradley, Ill.; three sisters, Lavern Needham, Laurie, Virginia Frame, St. Louis, and Bertha Walton, Festus, Mo.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Opened Door Christian Fellowship in Laurie. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Floral Hills cemetery in Kansas City. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Opened Door Christian Fellowship in Laurie. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.
