PHILLIPS
Sidney E. Phillips Jr., 92, Brumley, died Nov. 15, 1999, near Brumley.
He was born Oct. 17, 1907, a son of Sidney E. Sr. and Mendia Workman Phillips. He was married in 1939, in Brumley, to Faye Ruth Rodden, who died April 21, 1981.
A farmer, he was a member of Jehovah Witness Church, Crocker.
Survivors include one son, James Lee Phillips, Brumley, and one grandson.
One daughter, Loretta Kay Phillips, died in 1965.
No services are planned. The body will be cremated under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
BAKER
Rose Lee Baker, 86, Tipton, died Nov. 14, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Jan. 8, 1913, in Clarksburg, a daughter of Dallas and Olla May Dilse Winebrenner. She was married Oct. 10, 1931, in California, to William A. Baker, who died in 1981.
A homemaker, she was a member of Christian Church, Clarksburg.
Survivors include: one son, John Dallas Baker, California; one daughter, Betty Rose Clutter, Tipton; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, Robert E. Baker, died in 1981.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Ivan Dameron will officiate. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Hickman Cemetery Fund.
SCHNIEDERS
Peter Joseph Schnieders, 100, Jefferson City, died Nov. 16, 1999, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.
He was born May 24, 1899, in Wardsville, a son of Herman and Helena Prenger Schnieders. He was married Oct. 25, 1925, in Wardsville, to Clara Catherine Adrian, who died Sept. 3, 1983.
He farmed his whole life in the Cole Junction area. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and its men's association.
Survivors include: four daughters, Betty Stauffer, Independence, Pat Neuner, Columbia, and Dorothy Burkett and Ruth Ann Higgins, both of Jefferson City; four sons, Paul Schnieders, Clifford Schnieders, William Schnieders, and Fred Schnieders, all of Jefferson City; one sister, Matilda Bruemmer, Westphalia; 37 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Vitae Society or St. Stanislaus Education Fund.
THOMPSON
Janice L. Thompson, 56, Jefferson City, died Nov. 16, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Freeman Mortuary.
BAYNE
Lula Mae Bayne, 72, California, died Nov. 16, 1999, at Moniteau Care Center, California.
She was born March 16, 1927, in Latham, a daughter of Charles and Charlotte "Lottie" Elizabeth Dunham Turpin. She was married Feb. 22, 1947, in Versailles, to Wesley E. Bayne, who died May 16, 1996.
A homemaker, she worked for Reed's Department Store and Rohrbach Tax Service. She was a member of Latham Christian Church and volunteered for Girl Scouts, Wood Place Library, and Meals on Wheels. She graduated from Latham High School in 1945.
Survivors include: seven daughters, Betty Volkart, Ashland, Peggy Scott, California, Teresa O'Neal, Centertown, Robin Freeland, Jefferson City, and Donna Caspari, Helen Wheeler, and Linda Lademann, all of Columbia; one sister, Irene Flippin, Latham; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Alan Michel will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday.

EIKEN
Sister Mary Adela Eiken, 61, San Antonio, Texas , formerly of Taos, died Nov. 15, 1999.
She was born May 13, 1938, in Taos, a daughter of Vincent and Adela Kerperin Eiken.
She had bachelor's degrees in English and education from Marillac College, St. Louis. She later earned a master's degree in library science from Rosary College, Ill. She taught in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Potosi, Kirksville, Cicero, Ill., Dallas, and Pampa, Texas , and was librarian at Incarnate Word Academy, St. Louis, for 15 years. She had been a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word since 1955. She made first profession of vows in 1958 and perpetual profession in 1963.
Survivors include: five sisters, Sister Francisca Eiken, Margaret Forck, Frances Eiken, Susan Eiken and Kelly Mathilda Harden; three brothers, Silver Eiken, Joseph Eiken and Edward Eiken.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio. Burial will be in Convent Cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Incarnate Word Retirement Community Building Fund or Santa Rosa Hospice.

KARST
Betty Karst, 79, Jefferson City, died Nov. 16, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Bloodland, a daughter of John A. and Cora Agnes Haley Pinegar. She was married June 10, 1950, in St. Louis, to Harold Phillip Karst, who died Nov. 13, 1982.
A graduate of Ursuline Academy, St. Louis, she was a homemaker, licensed pilot and a judge for beauty and talent contests in Missouri. She was a member of Jefferson City Christian Center. She owned a dancing school and was an instructor. She sold jewelry in the St. Louis area and co-owned a jewelry store. She was an original co-owner of the local Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Survivors include: one son, Girard Karst, Jefferson City; two daughters, Lesa Leigers, Jefferson City, and Joan Vogler, St. Louis; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Renee' Karst and Judy Karst, died in 1977.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Crader will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to youth missions at Jefferson City Christian Center.
WANSING
Brian Joseph Wansing, 17, Meta, died Nov. 16, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
He was born Jan. 29, 1982, in Jefferson City, a son of Don and Mary Jane Boessen Wansing, who survive in Meta.
He was a senior at Fatima High School, Westphalia, and a member of the FFA. He worked for Mid America Truss Company and for the city of Meta during the summer. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta.
Other survivors include: one brother, Dale Wansing, of the home; two sisters, Jennifer Wansing and Lindsey Wansing, both of the home; and paternal grandmother Evelyn Wansing, Meta.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Wallace will officiate. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Meta.
ROUSH
Arlee Roush, 60, Kansas City, formerly of Elston, died Nov. 15, 1999, at his home.

SMITH
Ina C. Smith, 79, Jefferson City, died Nov. 16, 1999, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born March 6, 1920, in Daviess County, a daughter of Eben W. and Ruth N. Harl Smith.
She attended school in Daviess County. She moved to the Jefferson City area in 1937. She was employed with the Missouri State Library for 34 years serving as the secretary to the state librarian and secretary to the coordinator of special projects. She retired in 1984.
She was a member of Dix Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include: two sisters, Nina A. Smith and Ada Ruth Heflin, both of Jefferson City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. Brent Newton will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to Dix Road Church of Christ.
SEXTON
Billy S. Sexton, 41, Jefferson City, died Nov. 17, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 23, 1958, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was married May 24, 1984, in Marvin, to Teresa Phillips, who survives at the home.
He was a Marine Corps veteran and retired as a master sergeant from the Missouri National Guard after 20 years of service. He was a member of Spring Garden Baptist Church, near Eugene.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Jalin Sexton and Stephanie Sexton, both of Jefferson City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Hi Tiffany will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
