ROUSH

Arlee Roush, 60, Gladstone, died Nov. 15, 1999, at his home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1939, in  Jefferson City, a son of Ray and Sadie Smith Roush.

He worked as a painter in  Jefferson City before moving to Lynnwood, Wash., where he was a maintenance supervisor for 10 years. Most recently, he worked in the maintenance department of Marriott Residence Inn, Gladstone. A Navy veteran, he was a member of Centertown Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Valerie L. Unger, Gladstone; one son, Shay Roush, St. Joseph, Mich.; one brother, Roger Roush,  Jefferson City; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Shay Roush and the Rev. Keith Simon will officiate. He will be cremated.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to The Angel Tree Ministry, c/o The Chapel, 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, Mich. 49085.

BUEL

Edward O. Buel, 92,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 16, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1907, in  Jefferson City, a son of J. Antone and Clara Loesch Buel. He was married Aug. 2, 1930, in  Jefferson City, to Elda Nieman, who died March 8, 1978. He was married in November 1979 in  Jefferson City, to Helen Brakke, who died June 4, 1992.

He attended Trinity Lutheran schools. He was employed with Central Trust Bank for more than 50 years and retired as vice president. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Men's League. He was a member of the Greater St. Louis Archaeological Society.

Survivors include: one son, Thomas A. Buel,  Jefferson City; one sister, Mable Lairmore, Columbia; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Jean Carol Diemler-Schwartz, died Dec. 21, 1983.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

BAYES

Barbara A. Bayes, 52, Macks Creek, died Nov. 16, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Jacksonville, Fla., a daughter of Jack L. and Nancy Dupont Ballenger. Her mother survives in Macks Creek. She was married Dec. 28, 1993, in Linn Creek, to Marty Brayes, who survives at the home.

She worked as an insurance agent.

Other survivors include: one son, Patrick Francis, North Hollywood, Calif.; and one daughter, Kimberly Francis, North Hollywood.

One daughter, Eleanor Louise Francis, preceded her in death.

Private family services will be at a later date. She was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.

ANDERSON

Linda Louise Anderson, 47,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 15, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Sept. 4, 1952, in Boston, a daughter of Dr. Charles E. and Marjorie Louise Robinson Anderson. Her mother survives in  Jefferson City.

A graduate of Memorial High School, Madison, Wis., she attended the University of Wisconsin, majoring in political science. She was a volunteer and supported social causes. She received the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award presented by the Wisconsin Veterans Administration.

Other survivors include one sister, Cheryle Anderson Wills, New York.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Cornell E. Sudduth Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday.

BRENNAN

William Thomas Brennan, 86, Sharpsville, Pa., died Nov. 18, 1999, at Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington, Pa.

He was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Stoneboro, Pa., a son of Thomas W. and Mary Ann Harrison Brennan. He was married May 31, 1941, to Mary Everall, who survives at the home.

He was a 1930 graduate of Stoneboro High School and a graduate of Fenn College, now Cleveland State University. He was employed with the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. A registered professional engineerin Pennsylvania , he retired as works engineering manager in 1978 after 40 years.

He was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, Pa., and the Westinghouse Retirees Association. He served as president of the Penn- Ohio Chapter of Professional Engineers and was a member of the Western Reserve Fish & Game Protective Association, Lackawannock Township, Pa.

Other survivors include, two daughters, Mary Kathryn Duncan, Akron, Ohio, and Elizabeth Ann Stoops, Clairton, Pa; two sons, Dr. Richard Everall Brennan, Sewickley, Pa., and Thomas William Brennan,  Jefferson City; two sisters, Eleanor Harrison, Greenville, Pa., and Kathleen Wyatt, Ellicott City, Md.; and three grandsons.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage. The Rev. John B. Hagerty will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Stoneboror.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home, Sharon, Pa.

Memorials are suggested to the Notre Dame Church Building Fund, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa., 16148.

HOLT

Helen Margaret Holt, 81, Boonville, died Nov. 17, 1999, at her home.

She was born March 12, 1918, in Hermann, a daughter of Hugo and Adalia Lange Witthaus. She was married Aug. 28, 1946, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Vernon G. Holt, who died July 1, 1999.

She was a member of Eastern Star and the United Church of Christ in New Franklin.

Survivors include: one son, Larry Holt,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Mary Ann Haase, New Franklin, and Brenda Cook, Rocheport; one brother, Buddy Witthaus, Plano, Texas ; four sisters, Louise Gaertner,  Jefferson City, Lillian Bockting and Ruby Walther, both of Hermann, and Sally Witte, Boulder, Colo; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Markland Funeral Home, New Franklin. The Rev. Bill Holbrook will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, New Franklin.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

QUINN

The Rev. J. Patrick Quinn, 59, Rich Fountain, died Nov. 17, 1999, in Columbia of complications from an Oct. 18 traffic accident.

He was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Monroe City, a son of Ambrose F. and Pauline Williams Quinn. His mother survives in Monroe City.

A 1957 graduate of Holy Rosary High School, he received a degree in philosophy from Cardinal Glennon College, St. Louis, in 1961. He graduated from Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, in 1965, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1965 in Monroe City.

He currently was pastor of Sacred Heart parish, Rich Fountain, and St. Alexander parish, Belle. He previously served as pastor in St. Clement, Vandalia, Laddonia, Glasgow and Mexico. He served eight years as pastor of St. Salvador parish, Capachica, Peru. He also served as associate pastor in Mexico and of St. Joseph and Immaculate Conception parishes, both in  Jefferson City. He was a deacon in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

He served as dean of the Mexico Deanery and was a member of the Priest's Purgatorial Society and the Ministry to Priests Committee.

Other survivors include: three brothers, the Rev. Michael Quinn, Hannibal, Timothy Quinn, Monroe City, and Daniel Quinn, Swisher, Iowa; and three sisters, Kay Turnbull, Monroe City, Roseanne Quinn, Hattiesburg, Miss., and Teresa Quinn, Dallas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Church, Monroe City. The Most Rev. John R. Gaydos, Bishop Michael McAuliffe and the Rev. Bill Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the church, with a parish scripture service at 7 p.m. A rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Holy Rosary School.

Arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City.

SHELDEN

Rueben C. Shelden, 71, Vienna, died Nov. 17, 1999, in Eldon.

He was born Sept. 30, 1928, in Dixon, a son of Ezra C. and Mary Arminta Minzes Shelden. He was married to Nettie Sheldon, who preceded him in death. He was married to Ruth Sheldon, who survives in Vienna.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Oliver-Buehrle Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 and the Rader United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Maxwell and Annie Lotzer, both of Newburg; one son, John Shelden, Newburg; one stepson, Tom Pierson,  Jefferson City; one sister Odessa Maassen, Dixon; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One son, Robert Shelden, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kordes Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Kenner Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the New Pew Fund at Rader United Methodist Church.

STROTHER

Services were today for Ralph L. Strother, 79, Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of California, who died Nov. 16, 1999.

He was born in California, a son of Edgar and Maggie E. Strother. He was married to Ruth Balfour, who survives at the home.

He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of New Mexico. He was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers until his retirement in 1976.

He was a registered professional engineer in New Mexico. He attended Highland Baptist Church, Albuquerque.

Other survivors include, one son, Robin D. Strother, Farmington, N.M.; two daughters, Kathy L. Steele, state of Colorado, and Gail J. Cramer, Farmington; three sisters, Emma Stockard,  Jefferson City, Virginia Koerhrmann, Alton, Ill., and Dale Williams, St. Louis; and five grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services were at Highland Baptist Church. The Rev. Winfred Walker officiated. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque.

Memorials are suggested to Presbyterian Homecare Hospice, Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 26666, Albuquerque, N.M., 87125-6666.

Arrangements were under the direction of French Mortuary, Albuquerque.
