JAMES E. ANDERSON

James E. Anderson Sr., 80, Independence, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1996, at Research Medical Center.

Mr. Anderson was born June 7, 1918, in Chillicothe, Mo., and had lived in this area most of his life. He was an entrepreneur and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Allene Anderson in 1996.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James E. Anderson Jr. and Karen Anderson, Independence; a daughter and son-in-law, Caroll and David Milanesi, Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Inez Warren, Kansas City, and Mildred Glidden, Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren, Scott Anderson, Stacy Caldwell and Kelly Englehard; and five great-grandchildren, Connor, Jacob, Cailin, Mackenzie and Jackson.

Cremation, with inurnment at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

KASSANDRA J. BAILEY

Kassandra Judith Bailey, 10, Lake Tapawingo, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998.

Kassandra Judith was born May 16, 1988 in El Paso, Texas. She was going to start the fifth grade this year at William Yates Elementary School. She enjoyed singing and dancing and playing with Barbies. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Judith Gooding.

Her survivors include her father and mother, Larry Gale and Leslie Gale, both of the home; five brothers, Charles Bailey, Daniel Bailey, Joseph Bailey, Michael Gale and Kris Tanis, all of the home; her paternal grandparents, James and Ann Gale, Blue Springs.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 tonight at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the Kassandra Bailey Memorial Fund.

TERRY E. WALLACE

Terry Edward Wallace, 47, Lee's Summit, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Wallace was born March 22, 1951, in Kansas City, and he had lived in this area most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Golden Carpet Store in Lee's Summit. He was a member of the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce.

His survivors include two sons, Mike Wallace, Independence, and David Wallace, Lenexa, Kan.; a daughter, Rachel Wallace, Lee's Summit; his mother, Lucy Wallace, Blue Springs; a brother, Gary Wallace, St. Louis; two sisters, Debbie Flota, Blue Springs, and Paulette Eads, Independence; and two grandsons, Zachary and Cameron.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Park Lawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Terry Wallace Memorial Fund, in care of B.C. National Banks, 651 N.E. Woods Chapel Road, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64064.

BLANCHE LEWIS

Blanche Lewis, 89, Lee's Summit, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Lewis was born Sept. 23, 1909, in Kansas City. She and her husband, Eugene Lewis, were co-owners of the Lewis Florist shop in North Kansas City, along with Ed and Edna Lewis, and Edward F. and Clarice Lewis. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her husband died in 1976.

Her survivors include two daughters, Jean Kay Chirnshid, Lee's Summit, and Diann L. Lucas, Renton, Wash.; one brother, Carl McElhinny, Fresno, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.

ELSIE C. ROSENQUIST

Elsie C. Rosenquist, 77, Independence, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mrs. Rosenquist was born April 24, 1921, in Crystal Lake, Ill. She was a homemaker, and had served in the Army Women`s Air Corps during World War II.

Her survivors include one daughter, Kathleen Mertell, Independence; three sons, Eric Rosenquist, Cache, Okla., Mark Rosenquist, Champaign, Ill., and Ethan Rosenquist, San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

ANNA M. HORRELL

Anna Marie Horrell, 74, Hardy, Ark., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, in Hardy.

Mrs. Horrell was a retired switch board operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was a homemaker, a graduate of William Chrisman High School, and was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Irvin Horrell.

Her survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Phillip and Kristina Horrell, Hardy, and Charlie Horrell, Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister, Lucy Higginbotham, and two brothers, Bill Camerlynch, and Gus Camerlynch, all of Independence; and three grandchildren, Chuck, Derek and Leahanna Horrell.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Heath Oak Hill Chapel, Hardy. Burial will be in the Richardson cemetery, north of Hardy. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Eastern Ozarks Regional Home Health and Hospice.

HELEN M. EDEN

Helen Margaret Eden, 77, Kansas City, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999.

Mrs. Eden was born May 26, 1922, and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary 122 and Carpenter's Local 61. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Women's Reserve in World War II. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" W. Eden.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry S. Thompson-Owens and her husband, Mike; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Charter Fune-rals/Earp & Sons Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

RITA Y. MARTIN

Rita Yvetta Martin, 79, Independence, died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Martin was born March 18, 1919, in Fall River, Mass., and was of the Catholic faith. She had been a seamstress for more than 40 years, and lived in Independence for 48 years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, George Martin of the home; two sons, Roland Thibault of Lee`s Summit, Mo., and Jerry Thibault of Independence; two daughters, Jackie Davis, Independence, and Yvette Binion, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Irene Normandin, Fall River, Mass, and Yvonne Boissonneault, Weathersford, Conn; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Friends may call 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at at George C. Carson and Sons Independence Chapel, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

JUANITA G. SCHOFF

Juanita Grace Schoff, 86, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Schoff was born April 11, 1913, in Puryer Tenn., and had lived in Independence for most of her life. She graduated from Toler's Business College in Paris, Tenn., and worked at Lake City Ammunitions Plant during World War II. She was a member of South Crysler Restoration Branch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Schoff, in 1975.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sara Schoff of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Mark Ballantyne, Independence; two sisters, Fern Baldwin, Blue Springs, and LaWedna Peterson, Independence; three grandchildren, David and Lyndsay Ballantyne, and Adam Schoff; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Center Place Restoration School.

BERENICE DAVIS

Berenice Davis, 74, Russell, Kan., died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Davis was born May 16, 1924, in Paradise, Kan., and had lived in the Kansas City area before moving to Russell in 1983. She was a waitress at the Hilltop Cafe in the Bemis Oil Field. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Davis on Jan. 30, 1998.

Her survivors include a daughter, Annell Ott, Oak Grove; a sister, Helen Carlson, Russell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Russell City cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pohlman's Mortuary, Russell. The family suggests contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church.

MARY WALKER

Mary Sexton Walker, 76, Independence, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at the Independence Health Care Center.

Mrs. Walker was born March 11, 1922, in Hope, Ark., and lived in Fort Smith, Ark., before moving to Independence five years ago. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include five daughters and four sons-in-law, Charlene and Marvin Claypool, Independence, Louise and Clayton Howerton, Sugar Creek, Carolyn Riggsbee, Raleigh, N.C., Charlotte and Ed Van Haele, Blue Springs, and Janice and Jim Brison, Springfield, Mo.; one son, Dale Sexton, Fort Smith; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith. Burial will be in Oak Lawn cemetery, Fort Smith.

RUTH E. BLANCHARD

Ruth E. Blanchard, 77, Blue Springs, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998.

Mrs. Blanchard was born July 10, 1921, in Tampa, Fla. She worked for Woolf Brothers on the Country Club Plaza for 15 years, retiring in 1991. She had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs for 27 years, where she served as chairman of the Altar Guild, and was a member of the Sasannah Circle. She was also a member of the Pilot Club of Blue Springs and the Fort Leavenworth Military Widows Association, and served for more than 20 years on the Jackson County Election Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired USNR Cmdr. Charles M. Blanchard.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Bob Gengelbach, Plano, Texas; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Charles M. Blanchard, Platte City, Mo., Rich E. and Lisa Blanchard, Liberty, Mo., and Ted C. Blanchard, Kansas City; and four grandchildren, Lisa and Brandon Gengelbach and Max and Tucker Blanchard.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Edgewood cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the church.

MADELINE "MADGE" HEDGES

Madeline "Madge" Hedges, 83, Lee's Summit, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at St. Mary's Manor in Blue Springs.

Mrs. Hedges was born Aug. 8, 1916, in Hot Springs, Ark. She had been a bookkeeper, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 428.

Her survivors include three stepsons, Charles L. Rosser, Independence, the Rev. Robert Ross, New York City, and William Rosser, Grain Valley; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial was in Blue Springs cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Eastern Star.

BERNEICE WADDILL

Berneice Waddill, 82, Oak Grove, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Waddill was born June 2, 1916, in Macon County, Mo., and had lived in Oak Grove since 1976. She and her sister had been co-owners and beauticians at the Coed Beauty Salon of Westport Arms from 1939 to 1967. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Waddill in 1980, and a grandson, Jim Bowen.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Sally Bowen, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Gene George, Oak Grove; a sister, Grace Maddux, Independence; seven grandchildren, Joan Bowen, Lara Bowen, Jackie Newcomer, Jody Robinson, Donald George, Gregory George and Gordon George; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

DONALD F. HARDER

Donald Frederick Harder, 79, San Diego, Calif., formerly of Independence, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at a hospital in San Diego.

Mr. Harder was born in 1919 in Independence. He served as senior counselor in the Counseling Center and lecturer in the Department of Psychology at UCLA from 1952 to 1955, became the supervisor of testing and guidance at U.C. Davis in 1955, and served as assistant professor of education from 1958 to 1960. He was the coordinator of counseling at SDSU from 1960 until his retirement in 1983. In 1961, he was appointed Dean of Counseling and Testing. From 1974 to 1976, he was Associate Dean of Students. In 1976, he was a University Ombudsman for two years, and from 1978 until his retirement in 1983, he returned to the Counseling Center as a counseling psychologist. He also served as a volunteer, unpaid counselor for Counseling and Psychological Services and the office of the Ombudsman until a few months ago.

He received an associate's degree in 1939 from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, began work on his bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri from 1941-1942, served as a naval aviator during World War II, and returned to complete his bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, in 1947. He received his master's degree in 1949, and a doctorate in educational psychology in 1952. He was an avid golfer while at SDSU, winning many trophies as a member and officer of the Professor's Golf Association. Other interests and community activities include a licensed psychologist; volunteer with San Diego Hospice and the Llan-Lael Foundation; America's Foundation building schools in Tijuana; member of the Board of Trustees and an ordained minister, The Phoenix Institute; Adjunct Faculty, California Pacific University; and co-founder and vice president, Conscious Realities Institute.

His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Shaw-Harder of the home; one son, Jay Harder, Memphis; one daughter, Jan Goodin, one grandchild, Jaye Lee Goodin, and one sister, Joy Browne, all of Independence; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial services will be held Sunday in California. A Donald F. Harder Memorial fund has been established at Graceland College, Development Office, 700 College Ave., Lamoni, Iowa 50140.

KERRY G. 'CAGE' O'BANNON

Kerry Gayle 'Cage' O'Bannon, 54, Oak Grove, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at his home.

Mr. O'Bannon was born July 11, 1945, in Kansas City. He had been employed as a tool room technician at Ball Corp. in Kansas City. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 8907.

His survivors include his wife, Alvina O'Bannon of the home; his mother, Thelma Scranton, Urich, Mo.; and two brothers, David O'Bannon, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Alan O'Bannon, Belton, Mo.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at his home south of Oak Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Suite 146, Des Plaines, Ill. 60018-4110, or to Kansas City Hospice, 1625 West 92nd St., Kansas City, Mo. 64114.
