VIRGINIA L. HAINES

Virginia L. Haines, 73, Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Independence, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Haines was born in Independence and was a lifelong area resident. She had been the co-owner of Joe's Supply Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Stony Point Christian Church, Friends of Art, Friends of the Lake, and the Kansas City-Urapan Sister City Committee.

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Father Stephen Quinn and Irene Supica, Spokane, Wash.; her former husband, Joe Supica, Kansas City, Kan.; and two granddaughters, Sophronia and Elizabeth Supica.

Services were today at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice. Arrangements were under the direction of George F. Porter & Sons Inc.

NORA "HELEN" NOLL

Nora "Helen" Noll, 82, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Noll was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Blue Springs and lived in California before returning to this area 20 years ago. She was a teletype operator for more than 30 years, having worked for several different railroads.

Her survivors include a son, Glenn Williams, Oak Grove; a daughter, Betty Vermillion, Blue Springs; a brother, Glenn Wyatt, Kansas City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A family memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove; cremation.

GEORGIA E. STROUVILLE

Georgia E. Strouville, 85, Raytown, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Cedar Valley Health Center, Raytown.

Mrs. Strouville was born Sept. 29, 1912, in Coffeyville, Kan., and had lived in Independence before moving to Raytown. She had worked as a seamstress.

Her survivors include a daughter, June Knepp, Independence; five grandsons, Luther Floyd, John Floyd, Clyde Floyd, Fred Floyd, and Robert O. Williams Jr., Blue Springs; and three granddaughters, Shirley Floyd, Barbara Floyd and Ruth Ann Floyd, several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

MARCY J. HEITHOFF

Marcy Jean Heithoff, 47, Blue Springs, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Mrs. Heithoff was born Nov. 4, 1951, in Minneapolis. She had lived in the Blue Springs area since 1986. She had been employed as a cook at Daniel Young Elementary School in Blue Springs for the past eight years. She was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church.

Her survivors include her husband, Ken Heithoff of the home; her children, Angie Meyers and Fred Farmer Jr., Buckner, and Haley Heithoff and Ryan Herrera, Blue Springs; a granddaughter, Shelby Farmer; her mother, Dorothy Brown, Des Moines, Iowa; and two brothers, Raymond Alatorre, Minneapolis, and Robert Aguiniga, Newport News, Va.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John LaLande Catholic Church in Blue Springs. Burial will be in the Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence.

JOHN W. CUTLER JR.

John William Cutler Jr., 42, Blue Springs, died on Monday, March 8, 1999, in Topeka, Kan.

Mr. Cutler was born Aug. 16, 1956, in Blytheville, Ark., and had lived in this area since 1966. He was an information technology specialist for Beverly Enterprises. He was an Air Force veteran, a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and enjoyed sports and coaching. He was active at Tri-City Baptist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Sandy Allison Cutler, and two children, John Michael Cutler and Natalie Allison Cutler, all of the home; his mother, Eleanor Cutler, Kansas City; and three sisters, Susan Harris, Kansas City, Patricia Cutler, Oceanside, Calif., and Donna McComb, San Diego, Calif.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the John W. Cutler Jr. Children's Education Fund, in care of Tri-City Baptist Church, 4500 Selsa Road, Blue Springs, Mo 64015.

DOROTHY M. COX

Dorothy May Cox, 79, Independence, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Carondolet Manor in Kansas City.

Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Kansas City and had lived in Independence for many years. She was a volunteer for many years with the American Red Cross, Gray Lady Services, Wyandotte County Chapter. Her husband, Edward C. Cox, died in 1986.

Her survivors include two sons, Ed Cox, Lenexa, Kan., and Keith Cox, Independence; and two grandchildren, Breann and Brandon Cox.

As per her wishes, there are no services; cremation. The family suggests contributions to the American Red Cross. Arrangements are under the direction of the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel.

GLADYS M. MILLER

Gladys Myree Miller, 79, Independence, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Stover, Mo. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary`s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Miller in 1994, and one son, Terrance Miller in 1997.

Her survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Carrie Cagle, Santa Cruz, Calif.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jo Anne and Christopher Bird, O`Fallon, Ill., and Dona M. Conlan, Davenport, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Helen Miller, Independence; four sisters, Nellie Sanders, Portland, Ore., and Lucille Crow, Hazel Redmon and Georgia Jones, all of Raytown; four grandchildren, Kristen Bird Edgar, Keryn M.

Padgett, Stacey Miller and Terrance L. Miller; and three great-grandsons, Paxton A. Edgar, Mitchell A. Edgar and Colton J. Cagle.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery, Raytown. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.

M. JUANITA PYLE

M. Juanita Pyle, 80, Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, at the Camden Health Center, Harrisonville.

Mrs. Pyle was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Harrisonville. She was a 40 year member of Mount Washington Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Pyle Jr. on March 16, 1998.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Art and Ann Bates, Independence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Larry Grossman, Decatur, Ill., and Margaret and Ed Murray, Independence; five grandchildren, Brenda Smith, Leroy Bates, Dana Stockton, Lisa Boecker and Sean Murray; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Heartland Chapter.

ROBERT A. FLETCHER

Robert A. Fletcher, 71, Blue Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

His survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia Fletcher of the home; three sons, Randall Robert Fletcher, Aurora, Ill., Christopher Robert Fletcher, Blue Springs, and Scott Robert Fletcher, Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Catherine Jean Dimoush, Independence, Judith Ann Tarr, Nausha, N.H., and Teresa Ann Schmidt, Blue Springs; three brothers, William McClellan, Melbourne, Fla., Arthur Enteman, Chatham, Ill., and Junior Fletcher, Carbondale, Ill.; two sisters, Lori McClellan, Melbourne, and Eileen Enteman, Chatham; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Swan Lake Memorial Gardens-Chapel of Memories, Grain Valley. Burial was in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family suggests contributions in Mr. Fletcher's name to the Dream Factory of Kansas City.

M. JOYCE OLSON

M. Joyce Olson, 76, Blue Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Mrs. Olson was born March 11, 1922, in Trimble, Mo. She attended high school in Trimble, Plattsburg and Macon, Mo., and received a nursing degree from Kansas City`s General Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked for Leeds Sanitarium in Kansas City and at a care center in Webster, Texas, before retiring to Blue Springs in 1980. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs.

Her survivors include her husband, Benjamin Olson of the home; a son, Jim Olson, Houston, Texas; a daughter, Sue Olson, Jefferson City, Mo.; three sisters, Jean Bidlake, Sylvania, Ohio, Joan Hall, Blue Springs, and Mary Kay Kelly, North Kansas City; and a brother, Jack Nelson, Macon, Mo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer`s Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer`s Association or for AIDS research.

MILDRED A. THOMPSON

Mildred Allene Thompson, 84, Independence, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Thompson was born June 13, 1915, in Macon County, Mo., and had lived most of her life in Kansas City in the 1930s and Ô40s and had been involved in the Forum Cafeteria Worker's Group for many years. She was a member of the NARVE Association. She was an associate member of the USS Westpoint Ships Crew Reunion. She had worked in the Billy Graham Crusade in the late 1960s. She was also a member of the River Boulevard Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, LeRoy Thompson, on March 9, 1993.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Doris Thompson, Sibley; two brothers, Kenneth Murphy, Idaho, and James Murphy, Kansas City; three sisters, Lora Grace Bougher, Midland, Texas, Gwenda Muriel Greener, San Antonio, Texas, and Emma Josephine O'Keefe, Buffalo, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kelly, Lori and Amy; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the River Boulevard Baptist Church, 3212 N. River Blvd., Independence, Mo. 64050.

MARIAN F. AUBRECHT

Marian Freeland Aubrecht, 89, Independence, died Tuesday, Dec.1, 1998.

Mrs. Aubrecht was born March 19, 1909, in Licking, Mo. She was a former member of St. Stephen's and was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Independence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Aubrecht, and a son, James Aubrecht.

Her survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Aubrecht Evans, Sugar Creek, and Barbara and Jake Mulac, Kansas City; a son, Robert Joseph Aubrecht, San Dimas, Calif.; a brother, Lewis Freeland, Sun City, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren, Mark, Allen, Christian, Neil, Jon, Maryann, Joseph and Anthony.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sheil Colonial Chapel, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bishop Sullivan Center, 6435 Truman Road, Kansas City, Mo. 64126.

A. VIRGINIA WILSON

A. Virginia Wilson, 67, Independence, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at her home.

Mrs. Wilson was born March 5, 1931, in Cincinnati, Iowa, and lived in Cincinnati and Des Moines, Iowa, and in San Francisco from 1972 to 1981. She had lived in Independence from 1956 to 1972 and again since 1981. She was a dispatcher for trucking companies in the 1950s in Des Moines and Omaha, was a keypunch operator for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City from 1962 to 1972, and worked for the Bechtal Corp. in San Francisco from 1972 to 1981. Her husband, Clark L. Wilson, died in 1981.

Her survivors include two sons, Terry Wilson, Independence, and Richey Wilson, Storm Lake, Iowa; two daughters, Sherry Delfs, Gladbrook, Iowa, and Shelly Adkins, Independence; a foster son, Mike Burgoon, Independence; two grandchildren, Michael Lewis and James Adkins III; and two foster grandsons, Ricky and Zach Jennings.

Her body was donated to science. The family suggests contributions to the Heart of America Boy Scouts.

HORACE E. "CORKY" CORKERN

Horace E. "Corky" Corkern, 70, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Corkern was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Franklinton, La., and had lived in this area for 44 years. He was an assistant engineer with KPL for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He was an Air Force veteran and a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 347 and Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.

His survivors include his wife of 44 years, Norma Corkern of the home; a son, Douglas E. Corkern, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Debra Parsons, Independence; three sisters, Lola and Margie Corkern, both of Franklinton, La., and Doris Stewart, Bogalusa, La.; and 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle and Caleb Corkern, Justin and Zachary Koffenberger, Meagan and Cassandra Parsons, Patrick, Erin and Katie Gardner.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church or Boy Scouts of America.

JIMMIE L. BROWN

Jimmie Lee Brown, 48, Blue Springs, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in Reeds Springs, Mo. Mr. Brown was born in Creston, Iowa. He was a cabinet maker for Blystone Cabinet Makers. He was a member of the AA Alive Again Chapter in Independence and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His survivors include one son, Craig Allen Brown, Blue Springs; three daughters, Christi Raak, Blue Springs, Casey Brown, Overland Park, Kan., and Cathy Bates, Independence; his parents, Jerry and Dolores Brown, Reeds Springs; two brothers, Ronnie Dean Brown, Grain Valley, and Jerry J. Brown, Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Chyril Cavaness, Sparta, Mo.; five grandchildren; and his girlfriend, Liz Cheney of the home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alive Again Chapter of AA.

OSCAR F. FLUCKE

Oscar F. Flucke, 85, Oak Grove, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Flucke was born Dec. 2, 1912, in Wellington, Mo., and had lived in Oak Grove for the past 45 years. He was a meat cutter for Corn`s Thriftway. He was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in 1995.

His survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Sue Flucke, Goodyear, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Fay and Dennis Byrd, Grain Valley; three granddaughters, Holly Scarborough, Toni Patterson and Anitra Flucke.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, 15th and Harding, Oak Grove. Burial will be in St. Luke`s Church of Christ cemetery, Wellington. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
