FORESTA PARKS

Foresta Parks, 61, Independence, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Parks was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Independence, and was a lifelong Independence resident. She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include her husband of 43 years, James Parks of the home; two sons, Kenneth J. Parks and Kyle D. Parks, and three daughters, Kim S. Crawford, Kellie M. Swenson and Khristina L. Bruntmeyer, all of Independence; two brothers, James Kelly, Fort Worth, Texas, and Don Lewis, Raytown; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mound Grove cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday at New Salem Funeral Home.

MATTHEW R. PORTER

Matthew Ryan Porter, 21, Independence, died Friday, July 31, 1998.

Mr. Porter was born July 8, 1977, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. He activities include playing guitar and shooting pool.

His survivors include his parents, Fred N. Porter of the home, and Joyce Porter-Dunning, Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Teri L. Porter, his grandmother, Lois B. Walker, and one nephew, Taylor P. Wissman, all of Kansas City, Kan.; a special friend, Jennifer Roberts, Independence; and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Midtown Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Washington cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.

CECIL L. ODGERS

Cecil L. Odgers, 83, LaMonte, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at the Bothwell Hospital, Sedalia, Mo.

Mr. Odgers was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Kansas City. He had been employed at the Ford Motor Co. as a maintenance worker for 17 years, retiring in 1977. He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion of Everton, Mo., and VFW of Odessa. He was also a Mason.

His survivors include his wife, Nadine Odgers of the home; a son, Richard Odgers, Torrance, Calif.; a daughter, Judith Shukers, Warrensburg, Mo.; four grandchildren, Becky Charles, Jeffrey Dahman, Kevin Odgers and Kristen Day; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Grove cemetery.

DALPH "D.R." EATON JR.

Dalph "D.R." Eaton Jr., 74, Sugar Creek, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998 at his home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, in the Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial in the Mount Washington cemetery.

Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Friends of Sugar Creek, 11601 Silver Lane, Sugar Creek, Mo., 64054.

Mr. Eaton was born Oct. 9, 1924 in Sweet Springs.

He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marines, the Army, and the Navy during the Korean War.

He was an electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 123 for more than 30 years.

Mr. Eaton was a member fo the Barbee Masonic Lodge of Sweet Springs, the Scottish Rite and the Ararat Shrine. He was a member of the Christian Church of Rural Sweet Springs.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Eaton of the home; daughter Jody Eaton Thomas and her husband Dr. Leslie Thomas, Leawood, Kan.; granddaughter Ashley Lauren Thomas; a sister Marjorie Murphy, San Diego, Calif.; and nephew Gerald Murphy, La Jolla, Calif.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

E. LUCILLE SCARBOROUGH

E. Lucille Scarborough, 83, Lee's Summit, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998 in the Lee's Summit Hospital.

She was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Slater, Mo.

She lived most of her adult life in the Kansas City and Independence area. She retired from the Independence Regional Health Center in 1976.

She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.H. Gibson Scarborough, in 1989.

Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her brother, his wife, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Blue Springs cemetery.

The family suggests contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Webb-Freer Funeral Home.

COLINE M. SMEAD

Coline M. Smead, 88, Independence, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Kansas City.

Mrs. Smead was born June 14, 1910, in Kansas City, and was a lifelong area resident. She was a cafeteria manager for the Kansas City School District, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Crossroads Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Howell in 1958, and her second husband, Clyde Smead in 1991, and two sons, Howard Howell Jr. in 1994, and James W. Howell in 1967.

Her survivors include a daughter, Ruby Sharp, Independence; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Independence Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the chapel.

DELLA M. "MaMa D" TURNER

Della Marie "MaMa D" Turner, 58, Kansas City, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital.

Mrs. Turner was born Feb. 13, 1940, in California, Mo., and had lived in Kansas City most of her life. She was a cosmetologist and currently was resident manager for Cohen-Esry Properties. She was a member of the Sheffield Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Todd Anthony, and a grandson, Jeremy Joseph Kowalski.

Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Kelly Chavez, Independence, and Mark and Theresa Chavez, Blue Springs; four daughters and sons-in-law, JoRita and James Martin, Independence, TyEtta and John Kowalski, Blue Springs, ReGina and Mike Thurman, Kansas City, and Danette and Zahir Dhillo, Overland Park, Kan.; her parents, Harvey and Amanda Bristow, Liberty, Mo.; a brother, David L. Robb, Webster, Fla.; a sister, Bridget Y. Kluge, Kansas City; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Hemophilia Association or the American Heart Association.

THOMAS K. CROWLEY

Thomas K. Crowley, 59, Blue Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998, at St. Joseph Health Center.

Mr. Crowley was born March 2, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo. He was a salesman. He was a 1956 graduate of Webster Groves High School. He was a veteran of the armed services. He was a member of the Country Club of Blue Springs and the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs.

His survivors include his wife, Marlene Crowley, Blue Springs; his mother, Thelma Crowley, St. Louis; three sons, John J. Crowley and Morrison T. Crowley, both of Blue Springs, and Thomas K. Crowley, Lee's Summit; a brother, Timothy G. Crowley, St. Louis; a sister, Laura A. Johnson, St. Louis; a grandchild, Kayd T. Crowley, Lee's Summit; and a daughter-in-law, Christy Hackett-Crowley, Lee's Summit.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the sender's choice.

CAROL J. MILLER

Carol June Miller, 50, Blue Springs, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Miller was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn. She was a homemaker. Prior to being a homemaker, she worked at Blue Springs Medical and LASPO Inc. in Blue Springs. She was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church, The Altar Society, All Saints Guild, RCIA and Marriage Prep Class for 20 years. She was involved with many church functions.

Her survivors include her husband of 30 years, Joseph Miller of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dean Calvin, Lee's Summit; a son, Martin J. Miller, Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Debbie Kennedy, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Randy Thelemann, Running Springs, Calif.; and many friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs.

WAYNE E. WILLIAMS

Wayne Ellsworth Williams, 75, Blue Springs, died Saturday Feb. 27, 1999, in Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz.

Mr. Williams was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Albia, Iowa. He worked for Social Security at the downtown office as an administrator. He was a member of the Oak Grove Assembly of God. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His survivors include his wife, LaVonna Williams, Blue Springs; his daughter, Barbara A. Giertz, Blue Springs; two sons, David Williams, Olathe, Kan., and Michael Williams, Overland Park, Kan.; three sisters, Priscilla Gray, Corning, Iowa, Evie Haworth, Renton, Wash., and Mary Ann Kendall, San Andres, Calif.; three brothers, Jack Williams, Kansas City, Kan., Paul Williams, Seattle, Wash., and Richard Williams, Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, David Williams Jr., James Giertz, Kelly and Lindsay Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Kailyn Giertz.

Services were today at the Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs. Burial was in the Blue Springs cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Assembly of God.

NANCY C. HIMBURY

Nancy Carrol Himbury, 63, Odessa, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs.

Mrs. Himbury was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Lexington, Mo. She had worked from 1987 to 1999 on the assembly line at Delco Battery, Fitzgerald, Ga. She had previously worked for General Motors Leeds Plant from 1974 to 1987. She was a Baptist. She was a life member and past president of the Odessa VFW Auxiliary Post 5675 and was past president of the VFW Auxiliary District 6. She was a 1955 graduate of the Odessa High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Himbury, on Dec. 5, 1977.

Her survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, David L. Lueck, Higginsville, Mo., Timothy W. and Christie Lueck, Fremont, Neb., Leroy D. and Lena Lueck, Odessa, James L. Lueck, Sioux City, Iowa, and William C. Lueck, Odessa; two brothers, Norman Archer, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Don Archer, Louisville, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa. There will be a private inurnment at a later date. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.

NORMAN T. CARLSON JR.

Norman T. Carlson Jr., 76, Independence, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Independence Regional Health Center.

Mr. Carlson was born May 9, 1921, in Michigan City, Ind., and had also lived in LaPorte, Ind., from 1952 to 1964 and Milwaukee, Wis., from 1964 to 1967 and the last 29 years in Independence. He had worked for Allis Chalmers in LaPorte, Milwaukee and Independence, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the McDonald Masonic Lodge 324, Independence, Ararat Shrine, Kansas City, and American Legion Post 21, Independence. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

His survivors include his wife, Gladys Grieger Carlson of the home; a daughter, Karin Timko, Independence; a son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Caroline Carlson, Oak Grove; and five grandchildren, Corey, Daniel, Vida, Samuel and Mary Carlson.

Services were Thursday at the Odessa Restoration Branch, 2 mile north of Missouri 131. Burial will be in Michigan City, Ind. The family requests no flowers.

ORA HOUSER

Ora Houser, 87, Independence, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Cedar Valley Care Center.

She was a homemaker.

Her survivors include Robert Houser and George Houser, both of Kansas City, Paul Houser, Independence, Pat Faucett and Carol Bryant, both of Buckner; 32 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Hinton-Gibson Funeral Home, Raytown. Burial will be in Green Lawn cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

FRED G. INBODY SR.

Fred G. Inbody Sr., 86, Lee's Sumit, died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit.
