Jones Elsie Mae Dollie

Dollie Mae Elsie Jones, age 66, of Versailles, passed away Monday morning, October 4, 2004 at her home. She was born November 2, 1937 at Lohman, Missouri, the daughter of John and Barbara Fisher Rohrbach. She was united in marriage on November 16, 1958 with Virgil Jones. Mrs. Jones worked at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles from 1978 until 1990. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Versailles. Survivors include her husband, Virgil Jones of the home; one daughter, Naomi Shelton and her husband Ron, of Versailles; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, at the First Assembly of God Church in Versailles, with Rev. Gary Petty and Rev. Roy Bennett officiating. Interment will be in the Allee cemetery near Clarksburg. Casketbearers will be Ron Shelton, Jerry McClain, Richard McClain, Doyle Keyes, Lloyd Shickles and Bob Shickles. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dollie Mae Jones Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

INA WITTEN LEACH

Ina Witten Leach, age 77, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, July 30, 2004 at Carondelet Manor in Kansas City, Mo. She was born July 10, 1927 at Fortuna, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Nora Kurtz Witten. She married Robert Leach who preceded her in death. Mrs. Leach was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Robert Leach of Overland Park, Kansas, and David Leach of Grandview; one daughter, Diana Leach of Kansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Interment will be in the Versailles cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Gabriel Anna

Ann G. Gabriel, age 80, of Versailles, passed away Monday, December 16, 2002 at her home. She was born May 29, 1922 near Versailles, Missouri, the daughter of Fred and Gertrude Friedley Bohling. She was united in marriage on November 17, 1946 with William H. “Bill” Gabriel, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1990. Mrs. Gabriel was a retired office manager for the Missouri Division of Family Services in Versailles. She is survived by one son, Stephen Gabriel of Weston; one daughter, Sue Ballard of Stover; one sister, Barbara Bohling of Versailles; two grandchildren, Laura Kays and Rachel Gabriel; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Kays and Sydney Kays, many other relatives and friends. Graveside services were 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Versailles cemetery with Reverend Leslie Howard officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Garber Clifford Daniel

Daniel Clifford Garber, 70, of Versailles, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born Sept. 14, 1932, near Versailles, a son of Daniel J. and Elma B. Aeschbacher Garber. On June 24, 1956, in Las Vegas, Nev., he married Lavona Moellman, who survives of the home. Mr. Garber was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and a retired truck driver for Associated Wholesale Grocers. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Bethel Mennonite Church. Survivors also include two sons, Dan Garber Jr. of Independence and Tony Garber of Versailles; a daughter, Pam Garber of Versailles; two brothers, Vernon Garber of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Laurel Garber of Tipton; two sisters, Lydia Lehman of Berne, Ind., and Erma Goering of Mound Ridge, Kan.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Versailles, with Tom Voth and Dale Bentch officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Lehman, Todd Wilhelm, Brian Lehman, Brent Lehman, Milton Lehman and Joe Lehman, The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Providence Community Center

Gardner, Bettie L.

Bettie L. Gardner, age 75, of Sunrise Beach, passed away September 30, 2005, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born October 19, 1929, in Beach Grove, Kentucky, the daughter of Willis and Bessie L. Morgan Fireline. Bettie loved to paint and enjoyed crafting. She is survived by her husband Ramon of 57 years of the home; her children, Richard Gardner and wife Carol of Oswego, Illinois, Sharon Goldsberry and husband Larry of Montgomery, Illinois, Joye Morrison and husband Pat of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda Jakious and husband Randall of Naperville, Illinois, Ramon Wayne Gardner and wife Cheryl of Newberg, Oregon, Michael Gardner and wife Millie of Aurora, Illinois, and David Gardner and wife Cynthia stationed in Turkey with the United States Air Force; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 3, 2005, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. Interment will be in the Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Gasper N. Elaine

Elaine Naomi Gasper, 70, of the Golden Beach community near Barnett, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born April 26, 1932, in St. Joseph, a daughter of John C. and Dortha Ginter Smith. On Jan. 1, 1992, she was married to Robert Gasper, who survives of the home. Mrs. Gasper was a retired dietary cook at Heartland West Hospital in St. Joseph. Also surviving are three daughters, Toni Marie Hoyt of Kansas City, Judith Ann Stevens of St. Joseph and Jeanne Stringfield of Bennington, Vt.; three stepsons, Mike Gasper of Stewartsville, Harry Gasper of Hempie and Rodney Gasper of Leon, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Bonzieta Winterringer of St. Joseph and Mary Garrett of Leon; three other stepsons and two other stepdaughters; a brother, David Smith of Texas; a sister, Helene Hoover of Texas; and several grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Versailles cemetery in the west lawn addition. Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Gilbert Frances Marie

Frances Marie Gilbert, age 72, of Osage Beach, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born August 31, 1930 in Moberly, Missouri, she was the only child of Glenn and Marie Taylor. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in business, began working in Kansas City for Butler Manufacturing in Personnel and later married Joe Gilbert Jr. whom were together for 44 years. She was very active in her life as President and National Advisor for Delta Gamma Sorority, Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity, Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, PEO, Lake Ozark Arts Council Board Member and served on various Osage Beach City and State Committees. Frances is survived by her husband, Joe Gilbert of the home; one daughter Tina Corner of Annapolis, Maryland; step-son, Rich Gilbert and wife, Linda of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren Josh and Jessie Gilbert; many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by one son, Joe Gilbert III. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2003 at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach with Pastor Robert Hickman officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 6, 2003 at Elliott Grove cemetery in Brunswick, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Dogwood Animal Shelter in Camdenton, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles & Laurie.

Gingerich Lee Sharon
October 5, 2003

Sharon Lee Gingerich, age 61, of Versailles, passed away Sunday evening, October 5, 2003 at her home. She was born July 26, 1942 in Rhode Island, the daughter of Clifford M. and Gladys Reid. She was united in marriage on October 11, 1963 with James Gingerich, who survives of the home. Mrs. Gingerich was a Medical Technician and member of Cornerstone Church of Versailles. In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Robert William Crain of Osage Beach; one daughter, Deborah Lee Washburn and husband Daniel Raymond, of Versailles; one brother, Donald Reid of Lemoore, CA; three grandchildren, Ryan Lee Gingerich, Samantha Nicole Gingerich, and William Raymond Washburn; three great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, at Cornerstone Church of Versailles, with Pastor Dale Bentch officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery. Casketbearers will be Mike Carver, Daniel Raymond Washburn, Ryan Gingerich, Joe Merriott, William Crossen, Bruce Corbin, and Phil Hilty. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to Cornerstone Church of Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Goodman Lee Betty

Betty Lee Goodman, 73, of Versailles, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia as a result of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was born March 2, 1929, in Stover, a daughter of Ben and Viola Coit. On April 16, 1950, she was married to Darrel Goodman, who survives of the home. Mrs. Goodman was lifelong resident of Morgan County. She was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church, where she worked for many years in the Sunday school department and the church library. She was a school teacher before her marriage, and she also worked as a teacher's aide and administrative assistant at the Morgan County R-2 Junior High School in Versailles. She also had served on the board of the Morgan County Mental Health Center. Also surviving are two sons, Ken Goodman of Houston, Texas, and Mark Goodman of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Glen Coit of Stover; three sisters, Melba Akers of Independence, Patricia Rabe of Eldorado Springs, and Mavis Garrison of Lee's Summit; and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in Versailles cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Versailles United Methodist Church, 210 N. Monroe St., Versailles, MO 65084.

Hale Larry W

Larry W. Hale, age 53, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, formerly of the Laurie Area, passed away surrounded by his family at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday evening, August 10, 2005 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Shirley Hale of the home; daughters Leslie Smith of Camdenton, Missouri, Stephanie McIntosh of Tarkio, Missouri, and Vicky Carter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his mother, Doris Hale of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; siblings Mike Hale of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Nancy Umbarger of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and Brenda Kenagy of Laurie, Missouri; grandchildren Meagan and Savannah Smith, Casey, Tyler and Tristan McIntosh, and Trevor and Nathan Carter, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Waldo Hale, and sister, Kathy Bradfield. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie, with Rev. Rodney Kenagy officiating. Interment will be in Garber Memorial Estates cemetery in Laurie. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Haley Jean Donna

Donna Jean Haley, age 52, of Gravois Mills, passed away Tuesday morning, July 19, 2005 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. She was born May 6, 1953 in Worcester, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Harold and June Singer Chevalier. She had worked as a certified nurses aide at Laurie Care Center in Laurie. She is survived by three sons, Frank Chevalier and Kenny Palmer, both of Springfield, and Robbie Chevalier of Maryville; one daughter, Denise Gibson of Massachusetts; five brothers, Gary Chevalier and James Chevalier of Millbury, Massachusetts, Ronnie Chevalier of Worcester, Massachusetts, Bruce Chevalier of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Steve Chevalier of Texas; two sisters, Sharon Chevalier and Sandra Ballard of Gravois Mills, and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Sunrise Bible Church in Sunrise Beach, with Pastor Nick Stutesman officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Donna Jean Haley Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Ham Faye D.

D. Faye Ham, 86, of Versailles, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born April 30, 1916, in Hopkins County, Texas, a daughter of Clark and Jenny Fleming. On May 21, 1948, she was married to Floyd Milton Ham, who died April 7, 1994. Mrs. Ham was a retired bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Versailles. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Silvey of Versailles; three stepsons, Richard Ham of Grove, Okla., Dale Ham of Los Angeles and Howard Ham of Fort Scott, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Mary Helen Green and Jeanne Ham of Pittsburg, Kan., and Dorothy Moore of Fort Scott; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with the Rev. Todd Forman officiating. Burial will be in Versailles cemetery in the West Lawn Addition. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Hankins Wiley James

James Wiley Hankins, 69, of Fortuna, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at his home after suffering a brain aneurysm. He was born June 26, 1933, in Bentonville, Ark., a son of James Arthur and Edith Mae Woodell Hankins. On Nov. 25, 1950, he was married to Imagene White, who survives. Mr. Hankins had worked for Sanders Plumbing & Heating for a number of years, and also for O'Dell Plumbing. He was a member of Hoisting Engineers Local 101. He also had operated a service station in Fortuna. He loved to roller skate as a young man at the El-Torian Rink in Kansas City, where he won several competitions. Mr Hankins also loved to square dance and was the first president of the Silver Shoes Square Dance Club. Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Clay and Vicki Houseman, both of Syracuse; three sons, Mike Hankins of Olathe, Kan., James Hankins of Blue Springs and Kevin Hankins of the home, his mother, Edith Mae Clark of Lee's Summit; a sister, Betty Hale of Lee's Summit; two brothers, Walter Hankins of Simms, Texas, and Harold Hankins of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Ada Mae Morton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Randy Hale, the Rev. Mike Hale and the Rev. Dan Rogers officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Houseman, Mike Hankins, James Hankins, Jimmy Hankins, Travis Ewing and Josh Hankins. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Simons, James Marriott, Josh Jones, Kevin Hankins, Joel Wheeler and Chuck Jones. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens cemetery in Barnett. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Option Care/Missouri River Hospice in Jefferson City, or to the Alzheimer's Association of Mid-Missouri in Columbia.

Hansen Ferol

Ferol A. Hansen, 93, of Versailles, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born May 11, 1909, in Clarion, Iowa, a daughter of Horace F. and Emma C. Nelson Graves. In 1948, she was married to Carl E. Hansen, who died Jan. 23, 2001. Mrs. Hansen was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Stephen E. Hansen of Independence, a brother, Robert Graves of Marshalltown, Iowa; two sisters, Wanda Ramsey of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gwen Duffy of Boone, Iowa; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with the Rev. Gailya Dow officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hansen George Allen

Allen George Hansen, age 68, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday evening, November 13, 2004 in Syracuse. He was born April 16, 1936 at St. Ansgar, Iowa, the son of Peter Lauritz and Grace Natalia Colbertsen Hansen. He was united in marriage on December 30, 1965 with Allene Sue Hodges. Mr. Hansen was retired from the U.S. Army and a member of the American Military Society. He is survived by his wife, Allene Sue Hansen of the home; two sons, William Allen Hansen of Lee’s Summit, and David Allen Hansen and wife Kimberly, of Tacoma, Washington; two brothers, David L. Hansen of Earlham, Iowa, and Laverne Nightingale of Climax Springs; one sister, Joyce N. Jones of Gilbert, Arizona; one granddaughter, Kolina L. Hansen, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Harbin, James Ross

James Ross Harbin, age 65, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Barnes Jewish Hospital West in St. Charles, MO. He was born January 25, 1940 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of John M. and Elsie Hardy Harbin. He was united in marriage on November 1, 1958 with Myrtle Ruth Webster, who preceded him in death on June 30, 1976. James was a logger most of his life, and loved to fish and watch football. He is survived by two sons, Lonnie Taylor of Springfield, and Bradly Harbin of Omaha, NE; two daughters, Debbie Boosinger of Beatrice, NE, and Stephanie Harbin of Syracuse; three sisters, Jean Yandell, Dorothy Harbin and Georgia Robinson, all of Versailles; five grandchildren three great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Danny Owsley officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Grange Hall cemetery near Rockport, MO. Casketbearers will be Scott Clark, Tim Showman, Pat Berkstresser, Roy Stemberger, Randy Grantham, Roger Yardley, Bob Lingerfelt, Kevin Franklin, Marty Garber and Mike Mullins. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the James Harbin Memorial Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
