Billy Ray Peterson
(October 26, 1951 - January 14, 2013)

Billy Ray Peterson, age 61, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, in his home.

He was born October 26, 1951, in Blue Eye, Missouri, the son of Thomas Wesley and Ethel Marion (Horn) Peterson. On September 4, 1970, in Pineville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Linda Chambers, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Charles Peterson of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, Ted Peterson of Cameron, Missouri and Michael Peterson of Moberly, Missouri; one daughter Verity Peterson of Eagle Rock, Missouri; four brothers, James Peterson of Exeter, Missouri, Tommy Peterson of Washburn, Missouri, John Peterson of Rogers, Arkansas and Eldon Peterson of Washburn, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers and one sister.

Billy spent most of his life in Southwest Missouri and Northern Arkansas. He worked in Arkansas in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the American Rifle Association. Billy served in the United States Army.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 19, 2013, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Larry K. Lewis
(September 8, 1946 - November 10, 2014)

Larry K. Lewis, age 68, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas.

He was born September 8, 1946, in Huntsville, Arkansas, the son of Alvis and Earlene (McElhaney) Lewis. On September 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to Deborah Jo Robbins, who preceded him in death on October 9, 2007. Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra McDaniel and her husband, Melvin of Yukon, Oklahoma and Allison Shaffer and her husband, Harry of Rogers, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Larry grew up and received his education in Huntsville, Arkansas, where he graduated from high school. During the Vietnam War he entered the United States Army, serving from January 5, 1966, until December 17, 1967. For thirty-five years he was employed for Emerson Electric, retiring as foreman. He loved to play golf and was a member of Cassville Golf Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Burial with military honors will be in Maplewood cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Vonne L. Rogers
(July 11, 1936 - November 9, 2014)

Vonne L. Rogers, age 78, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014, in her home.

She was born July 11, 1936, in Marathon, Iowa, the daughter of Leola Grace Ruby. In June, 1976, in Yakima, Washington, she was united in marriage to Otho Rogers, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Shannon; her mother; one grandson, Johnny Keith Ulrey, Jr.; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are one son, Johnny Keith Ulrey, Sr. of Yakima, Washington; two daughters, Shawna Kraft of Cassville, Missouri and Pam Pettis and her husband, Tim of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Vay Patrick Harrison and his wife, Joann of Mandeville, Louisiana; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Vonne spent most of her life in Yakima, Washington. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and was employed with Renaissance Care Center in Yakima for several years. Eleven years ago she moved from Yakima to Missouri to make her home. She had attended North Point Church in Cassville. Some of her favorite pastimes were working crossword puzzles, collecting stuffed animals, watching birds and squirrels, being with her grandchildren, reading her Bible and listening to gospel music.

The family will have services at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

James Allen Echols
(January 26, 1945 - November 5, 2014)

James Allen Echols, age 69, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at his home.

He was born January 26, 1945, in Orange County, Texas, the son of Willie Ernest and Ruby Marie (Grimsley) Echols. In 1980, he was united in marriage to Deloris Dutton, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Amanda Fay Cannady and her husband, Kevin, Kimberly Morris and Amber Reeder all of Seligman, Missouri; two brothers, Carl Echols and his wife, Creta of Centerton, Arkansas and Willard Echols and his wife, Thelma of Oklahoma; one sister, Lue Patrick and her husband, Ben of Sulpher Springs, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren, Courtney, Hope and Clayton Dutton, Edwin and Eden Morris, Michaela, Michael Jr, Ruby and Randall Phillips, Jasmine, Isaiah and Andrew Reeder and Stormy Echols and a great grandbaby on the way, Makiya Reed.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Randall Echols.

James grew up in Seligman, Missouri, where he received his education. He resided in Lowell, Arkansas before moving back to Seligman twenty years ago. For several years he was a packer for Allen Canning Company in Springdale, Arkansas. Some of his favorite pastimes were spending time with family, fishing, going to casinos and mining for gold.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in Tucks Chapel cemetery, Avoca, Arkansas under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Bob Rowe will conduct the services.

Margaret Elizabeth Jones
(February 14, 1927 - November 9, 2014)

Margaret Elizabeth Jones, 87, was welcomed through Heaven’s gate on November 9, 2014, by God and her late husband, Desmond. Born February 14, 1927, to Linley and Susie (Bradley) Sexton, Margaret went on to marry Desmond on November 27, 1947. Together they raised 3 sons. Margaret was a very devoted member to the Wheaton Southern Baptist Church, where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2014, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Butterfield.

Margaret was a graduate of Purdy High School and was employed twenty years with the Wheaton School System.

In the summers, the grandchildren enjoyed spending time with grandma, going to the Old Settlers Reunion, playing grocery shop from the pantry, and playing with the new Barbie clothes that grandma had made. She enjoyed teaching the grandkids to cook, play the piano and watching them play sports.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Larry and sisters, Ruth and Juanita. She is survived by her two sons, their wives and her daughter-in-law, Wes and Janis Jones of Billings, Missouri, Timothy and Bobbi Jones of Purdy, Missouri and Brenda Jones of Springfield, Missouri; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.

Benny Lynn Cron
(August 20, 1952 - October 19, 2014)

Benny Lynn Cron, age 62, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, in his home.

He was born August 20, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Clarence Vancil and Jewell Alene (Hammers) Cron. On April 1, 1974, he was united in marriage to Evelyn J. Martin, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Troy Lynn Cron and his wife, Sarah of Berryville, Arkansas; one daughter, Jody Ann Nelson and her husband, Jeremy of Seligman, Missouri; his mother, Jewell “Jean” Janes of Seligman, Missouri; four brothers, Doug Cron of Kansas City, Kansas, Mike Janes of Graham, North Carolina and Tony Janes and Ted Janes both of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; six sisters, Connie Collins and Carol Cron both of Washburn, Missouri, Sallie Straw of Sarcoxie, Missouri, Becky Gatrell of Springfield, Missouri and Ruth Pritchett and Betty Lewellen both of Seligman, Missouri; ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter and special people, Tim Pritchett, Ed Carrothers and Ray Hayworth.

Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Jim Cron.

Benny grew up and received his education in Mt. Vernon, where he graduated from high school. In 1973, he moved to Seligman to make his home. For a few years he was employed with Emerson Electric Company and for twenty years he worked for Scott Paper Company. Benny was active in various community service organizations. He was a volunteer with the Seligman Fire Department for thirty-five years and served as Captain. He was also a first responder, trail walker for the fire department, member of Seligman Lions Club, Seligman Area Sportsman Club and Barry County Search and Rescue.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 25, 2014, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Dale Stover will conduct the services. Burial will be in King cemetery, Seligman, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Seligman City Parks Department in memory of Benny.

Joseph "Joe" Allen Preddy
(April 30, 1928 - October 21, 2014)

Joseph Allen “Joe” Preddy, age 86, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 30, 1928, in his childhood home on Grade School Hill (7th Street) in Cassville, Missouri, the son of Jess and Ima (White) Preddy. On September 18, 1953, he married Nanah Frances Cox, who survives.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Lilburn and Ramond Preddy. Surviving are his daughter, Annette Henderson of Cassville; his son, Joseph Paul Preddy and his wife, Luann of Barre, Vermont; his grandchildren, Devon Henderson Forsythe and her husband, Preston and Jake and Lauren Preddy. Also surviving are one sister, Zeta May Ashens of Belvidere, Illinois; one brother, Charles Preddy of St. Joseph, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Dixie Preddy of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

Joe lived his entire life in Cassville, Missouri. After graduating from Cassville High School with the class of 1946, he studied one year at college in Springfield, Missouri. He began work at Barry Electric Cooperative in 1947, as assistant bookkeeper. He served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953. After returning from the service he resumed his job with Barry Electric. He was named General Manager in 1967, and remained as such until his retirement in December, 1990. In 1991, Joe was awarded the A.C. Burrows Service Award from the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives. The award was in recognition of Joe’s leadership in rural electrification distinguished by his dedication to helping others.

Joe was a member of Cassville United Methodist Church, where his family attended his entire life. Joe was a leader in the Church serving in various capacities. In the community Joe took his responsibilities to heart. He was a member of the Cassville Rotary Club and served as President in 1986, and recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary. Joe was active in the Cassville Chamber of Commerce during his working years and received the Community Service Award from the Chamber in 1988, siting his years of service to the Chamber, twice serving as President of the organization and numerous times as board member. His recognition also covered extensive cooperation toward industrial development in this community.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 24, 2014, in Cassville United Methodist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Reverend Andy Lambel will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until service time Friday in Cassville United Methodist Church.

Contributions may be made to Cassville United Methodist Church in memory of Joe.

Rodney Arsenault
(August 28, 1945 - October 20, 2014)

Rodney R. Arsenault, age 69, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 in his home.

He was born August 28, 1945, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, the son of Jeanette Arsenault who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his grandparents.

After graduating from high school in Chicopee, Rodney joined the United States Air Force serving four years. Upon returning home he put himself through American International College, in Springfield, Massachusetts, graduating baccalaureate in business management. He then worked until retirement as a Transportation Manager for Abbott Laborites, Chicago, Illinois.

On September 11, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Roberta L. (Maynard) who survives. Also surviving are two step-sons, Jonathan Sabo and his wife Megan of Joplin, Missouri and James Sabo and his wife, Janelle of Avon, Indiana; three granddaughters, Claire, Kathryn, and Sophia Sabo all of Avon, Indiana and one cousin, Bruce Arsenault of South Carolina.

In 2004, Rodney and Roberta moved to Shell Knob, Missouri, to make their home. Rodney suffered multiple traumatic injuries in a 2005, motorcycle accident which left him a paraplegic having many health problems these last nine years. His wishes were granted, to be at home until the day he died, passing away peacefully with his wife holding him.

There are no services planned at this time.

Roberta asked that contributions be to do an act of kindness and pay it forward and please let her know what you did.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob, Missouri.

Jimmie Charles Rogers
(July 6, 1951 - October 20, 2014)

Jimmie Charles Rogers, age 63, of Fairview, Missouri, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

He was born July 6, 1951, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Ralph and Wilma (Mitchell) Rogers. On December 5, 1997, in Newton County, he was united in marriage to Linda L. (Allen) Holmes who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Brigot York and her husband, Steven of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and Crystal Howell and her husband, Patrick of Ottumwa, Iowa; one son, Benjamin Charles Rogers of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren, Christopher Cooksey and Lucas Howell both of Ottumwa, Iowa; one great granddaughter, Kaylee Cooksey; two nephews, Larry Dean Rogers of Exeter, Missouri and Charlie Rogers of Fairview, Missouri and one niece, Shawna Crocker of Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister Brenda and one brother Larry.

Jimmie received his education in Bloomfield, Iowa. He resided in Texas several years before moving to Missouri to make his home. He had been an automobile mechanic and then began working in construction for Williamson and Son. Some of his interests were music, old cars, and motorcycles, having a good time, fishing and friends. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2014, in Jones Chapel Church, Stella. Cremation arrangements are under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.

James E. Downey
(August 16, 1946 - October 24, 2014)

James E. Downey, age 68, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, in his home.

He was born August 16, 1946, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, the son of John E. and Evalena (Elson) Downey. On July 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Lynda Talbert, who survives. Also surviving are one son, John Downey and his wife, Shanda of Butterfield, Missouri and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Josh and Justin.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

James graduated from high school in Darrington, Washington. During the Vietnam War he was in the United States Army, serving from October 25, 1966, until August 16, 1968. He moved to Cassville, Missouri forty-four years ago and was employed at Friend Tire as a truck driver.

He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Masonic Blue Lodge in Monett and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield. James also loved to square dance.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 27, 2014, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Doyle Russell will conduct the services. Burial with military honors will be in Russell cemetery, Butterfield, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of James.
