Ruby Fern Friend
(February 1, 1923 - January 21, 2015)

Ruby Fern Friend, age 91, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Circle of Life Legacy Village, Bentonville, Arkansas.

She was born February 1, 1923, in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jesse T. and Nora (Coleman) Bostick. She was 1 of 10 siblings (7 sisters & 2 brothers). She is survived by one sister, known by loved ones as “Sis”. On February 9, 1953, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she was united in marriage to Stanley A. Friend, who preceded her in death on April 9, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one daughter, Peggy Dalton.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Jeffcoat and his wife, Debbie of Rogers, Arkansas and Derrick Friend of Seligman, Missouri; one daughter, Joyce Frame and her husband, Dwight of Rogers, Arkansas; two step children, Karen Parker of Maryland and Butch Friend of Virginia and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

Ruby received her education in Oklahoma. She resided in Washington D.C. before moving to Seligman, Missouri in 1971. In her younger days she was a waitress and then became a homemaker. Some of her favorite pastimes were making quilts and gardening. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 24, 2015, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Randy Parks will conduct the services. Burial will be in Bayless cemetery, Gateway, Arkansas.

D.L. "Buck" Prier
(October 10, 1931 - January 20, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Doyle L. “Buck” Prier passed away on January 20, 2015, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 10, 1931 in Eagle Rock, Missouri to Mary and Warner Prier.

After graduating high school in Cassville, Mo. he entered the U.S. Navy to serve his country in the Korean War aboard the USS Consolation.

He returned to Missouri and attended Drury University. He then began a successful career as a top marketing representative with Phillips Petroleum in Kansas City, Mo. That same job took him to Andover, Kansas and then to Abilene, Texas in 1977.

Buck retired in 1987, but that didn’t suit him. With a strong work ethic and a head for business he began his own company with two partners operating a chain of Texaco convenience stores in Abilene and the DFW Metroplex.

Buck loved flying and all things aviation, and was a member of the Quiet Birdmen aviation club. When he wasn’t flying he could also be found at the local airport “hangar flying” with friends.

Buck loved the outdoors. He was a champion skeet and trap shooter. Having grown up in the Ozarks he learned to appreciate nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved walking the track at Red Bud Park.

Buck was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.

Buck was loyal and a very loving father. He leaves behind 4 children and their spouses: Dana Prier Dollins and husband David; Douglas Prier and wife Bobbi; Tiffany Prier Lamb and husband Scott; and Rebecca Prier Gleason and husband Chris.

His grandchildren include: Candace Goldsby, Callie Green, Carlee and Nicholas Lamb, and Caroline, Kate, and Harris Gleason, and great grandchildren: Emma and Harper Goldsby, and Tucker Green.

He also leaves behind his beloved companion Elizabeth Wolf.

He is also survived by close friend Judy Voelter, mother of his daughters Tiffany and Rebecca.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Warner Prier, sister Frieda, grandparents, and many close aunts and uncles.

Family suggests memorials to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 Pioneer Drive Abilene, TX 79605 or to SPCA, 5933 S 1st Abilene, TX 79605.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 26, 2015, in Roach cemetery, Eagle Rock, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.

Michael "Mike" Allen Blom
(June 13, 1953 - January 22, 2015)

Michael Allen “Mike” Blom, age 61, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, in his home.

He was born June 13, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Wesley John and Mary L. (Swets) Blom and is survived by his mother. Also surviving are one son, Joshua Allen Blom; one brother Robert Lee Blom and his wife Carolyn of Longview, Missouri and one sister, Dianne Lynn Bombeck and her husband Alan of Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Preceding him in death were his father and one brother Jack Daryl Blom.

Mike attended parochial schools, graduating from Highland Christian School, in Highland, Indiana and later attended Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, where he received his PHD in psychology.

In 1992, he moved from Midlothian, Illinois to southwest Missouri to make his home. He went to work as a security guard for US Security, working many years at FASCO. He had a passion for being a ham radio operator, tracking and chasing storms and playing golf.

A “Celebration of Life” to honor Mike will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.

Norma Green
(April 28, 1950 - January 24, 2015)

Norma Green passed away on January 24th at home. Born in Aurora on April 28, 1950, she was the daughter of William and Velma Lawson Godsey. She graduated Aurora High School in 1968, and the School of the Ozarks with a BA. She became an LPN and in 1982 an RN, working at the former Missouri Rehab Center in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her husband, James Green; her two children, Chris and his wife, Dee of Kansas City and Sara of Cassville; her two brothers, Roger and his wife, Sharon of Springdale, Arkansas and Jon and his wife Becky of Verona.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2015, in Clay Hill cemetery, Verona, Missouri under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, with a prayer service at 7:00.

Donald R. Patton, Sr.
(May 3, 1941 - January 26, 2015)

Donald R. Patton, Sr., age 73, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.

Don was born May 3, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Woody and Elsa (Bennie) Patton.

He lived the majority of his life in California and was a 1959 graduate of Mount Diablo High School in Concord, and was retired from the Northern California Sheet Metal Workers Union. He had also worked as a welder in nuclear power plants all over the United States.

After taking care of aging parents, Don moved to Cassville in 2007 to enjoy his retirement near his children.

He is survived by his fiancé, Wanda Withnell; daughter, Kelly Paul and her husband, Gary; son Donny Patton; brother, Victor Patton and grandchildren, Candice Peterson, Nathan Maloney and Lindy Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Paul Patton.

Per Don’s request, no formal services will be held; the family will hold a private ceremony. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Thomas "Glenn" Hendrix
(June 23, 1944 - January 26, 2015)

Thomas “Glenn” Hendrix, age 70, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, in Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

He was born June 23, 1944, in Seligman, Missouri, the son of Olen and Mildred (Still) Hendrix, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Jerry Lee Hendrix.

Surviving are two brothers, Wesley Hendrix of Washburn, Missouri and Lynn Hendrix of Cassville, Missouri; three sisters, Leta Burnette and Mary Tiner both of Cassville, Missouri and Linda Cole of Exeter, Missouri; an aunt, Georgia Hendrix of Washburn, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn grew up and received his education at Washburn. He was a self-employed handy man.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 30, 2015, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Richard Jones will conduct the services. Burial will be in King cemetery, Seligman, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Kermit Charles Whitney Marble
(September 9, 1935 - January 26, 2015)

Kermit Charles Whitney Marble, age 79, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015, in his home.

He was born in Bainbridge, New York, September 9, 1935, the son of Bertram C. and Olive Maud (Whitney) Marble who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death on January 19, 2015, was his wife of fifty-six years Katherine E. “Kay” (Weidner) Marble; one brother Maurice Marble and a son Donald Marble.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Marble and his wife, Linda of Sidney, New York and Dave and Michelle Marble of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Marble of Gilbertsville, New York; brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Beverly Williams of Shell Knob, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew and Abby Marble all of Arizona and Shannon, Shane and Jonathan Marble all of New York and one great granddaughter, Riley Marble.

Kermit graduated from Sidney Central High School in Sidney, New York. In March of 1956, Kermit joined the United States Army serving until March of 1958. On May 10, 1958, in Racine, Wisconsin, he and Kay were married . For several years he was employed as a tool and die maker for Bendix Corporation. In 2001, they moved from Sidney, New York, to Shell Knob to make their home. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially coaching his son’s baseball teams.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

Contributions may be made to the Shell Knob Senior Center “Home Delivered Meals”, in memory of Kermit. They may be sent to Fohn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Cassville, Missouri 65625.

James K. Harpster
(September 23, 1940 - January 29, 2015)

James K. Harpster, age 74, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015, in Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation, Cassville, Missouri. He was born September 23, 1940, in Missoula, Montana, the son of Kay James and Janeva (Thornhill) Harpster who preceded him in death.

Surviving him are his wife Mikki; two sons, Bill Harpster and his wife Nikki of Salem, Oregon, and Jim Harpster of Fairbanks, Alaska; one daughter, Leslie Walls of Fairbanks, Alaska, and six grandchildren.

He attended school at Fairbank-Lathrop School in Fairbanks, Alaska In 1957 he joined the United States Navy serving until 1961. James was the owner and consultant of an industrial service company. On February 24, 1991, Margaret “Mikki” Stone and James were married in Arlington, Texas. Ten years ago they moved to Shell Knob, from Chicago, Illinois, to make their home.

Boating, fishing, traveling, and computers are some of his favorite pastimes. He was a member of the Shell Knob Lions Club and the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce.

James will be missed by his family, friends and Lou Lou Belle his special dog. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob, Missouri.
