Ronda Sue Rush
(May 18, 1956 - October 15, 2015)

Ronda Sue (Allen) Rush age 59 of Seligman, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, October 15, 2015, in Bentonville, AR after a long battle with a terminal illness.

Ronda was born on May 18, 1956, in Des Moines, IA. She was the daughter of Keith Edward Allen and Audrey Marie Crooks Allen. She has one sister, Barbara Jean Allen Swan. She graduated from Chariton High School in Chariton, IA in 1974. She was united in marriage to Jerry Ray Rush on February 28, 1981 in Corydon, IA. She had two children, Michael Ray Rush and Michelle Irene Rush.

During her life she had many jobs. She and Jerry owned two restaurants, one in Allerton, IA and one in Leon, IA. Also, she was executive chef at Inn of the Six-Toed Cat in Allerton, IA where she cooked for many important people including the governor of Iowa. She moved to the Cassville area in 1997, shortly after, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Prudential Real Estate in Eagle Rock, MO. Later she moved to Tulsa, OK to be closer to her mother to help take care of her until her passing. She then moved to Seligman, MO to spend quality time with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing cards, bingo, gardening, doing cross-stitch, sewing, crocheting, cooking, listening to country music, traveling which included to England and Scotland, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Jean (Allen) Swan and her husband, Randal R. Swan of Claremore, OK, two children, Michael Ray Rush and his wife Lois Marie Talbot Rush of Seligman, MO, and Michelle Irene Rush of Seligman, MO, four grandchildren: Blake D. Stockton (Ashley L. Midgett) of Jenkins, MO, Audreyanna M. Stockton Hill (Tyler J. Hill) of Cassville, MO, Matthew R. Stockton (Amanda J Block Stockton) of Jenkins, MO, Haylee L. Stockton Huebner (Chris W. Huebner) of Springdale, AR, and thirteen great grandchildren: Dale, Maycen, Blake, McKynlee, Henry, Madilee, Pedyn, Rylee, Jayci, Jamey, Arlis, Kyla, and Sadie. One niece, Stephanie W. Swan Thompson (Dwayne L. Thompson) of Skiatook, OK, one nephew, Robert A. Swan (Kelsey L. Mitchell Swan) of Owasso, OK, and two great nieces: Ayden and Nadia and many other cousins, friends and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Jerry Ray Rush (August 29, 2004), her father Keith Edward Allen (May 29, 2001) and mother Audrey Marie Crooks Allen (November 22, 2014).

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Corinth cemetery, Cassville, MO under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will officiate. Pallbearers are: Randy Swan, Robert Swan, Blake Stockton, Matthew Stockton, Tyler Hill, and Clinton Hall. Honorary pallbearers are: William Gosvener, Scott Reynolds, and Chris Huebner.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for monetary donations to be made to Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, MO.

Howard John Anderson
(August 15, 1930 - October 16, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Howard John Anderson, age 85, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, in Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville, Missouri.

He was born August 15, 1930, in New York City, New York, the son of Oscar Alfred and Blanche W. (Johnson) Anderson. On August 9, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Cupit, who preceded him in death on December 19, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Anderson of Shell Knob, Missouri and two sons, Mike Anderson and his wife Chesta of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and Dave Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri.

Howard grew up and received his education in New York. From September 2, 1947 until August 1, 1953 he served in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from the United States Weather Bureau, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, in budget and finance. In 1986 he moved from Kansas City, Missouri to Shell Knob to make his home. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, reading and collecting Civil War memorabilia.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Lake Park Memorial Gardens, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

Contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Howard.

Joy Romulus Petty
(September 5, 1922 - August 25, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Joy Romulus Petty entered this world September 5, 1922, on a flint rock farm in Barry county Missouri, and entered into eternal rest August 25, 2015, at the Idaho Veterans hospital in Boise Idaho.

He was the eighth of nine children born to Elsie and Isaac Petty and has three siblings from his father’s second marriage.

Joy served in WWII and was stationed on an island Air Base in Guam for the final bombing assaults on Japan. After the war, Joy returned to Ukiah, California and married Alma Myers.

Joy was pre-deceased by his son’s (Harold Petty and Jimmy Petty), his parents, one brother and seven sisters. He is survived by one daughter, Rose (and husband Archie Dunsing) of New Plymouth Idaho, daughter-in-law Debra Brush of Boise, Idaho, son, John Petty of Cassville Missouri, two brothers, (Ike Petty of Sacramento California) and Vern Petty (wife Lois of Cassville Missouri) and one sister, (Maxine Broan of Fairport, New York); thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. All of whom feel greatly blessed to have had Joy in their lives for so many years.

As anyone who knew Joy would tell you – HE LOVED TO FISH!! –but didn’t particularly like to eat them. He and his brother (Vern) fished regularly at Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Missouri and he was always looking for someone to give the fish he caught away to. He also loved to hunt mushrooms and was noted for finding some of the largest “chicken of the wood’s” ever seen in Barry County. In 2007, Joy came to live with Harold and Debra in Idaho. He was truly a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. God bless you, and rest in peace, we will miss you.

There will be graveside services in both Boise, Idaho (at the Idaho Veteran’s cemetery –(date and time to be determined), and at Mano cemetery, at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home.

Virginia Mae Harriman
(January 27, 1924 - September 22, 2015)

Virginia Mae Harriman, age 91, of Republic, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in Christian Health and Rehab of Republic.

She was born January 27, 1924, in Cassville, Missouri, the daughter of Kyle and Cecile M. (Courtney) Earle. On June 17, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Floyd Harriman, who preceded her in death November 17, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Charles Earle and Grantham Earle.

Surviving are one son, Dwayne Harriman and his wife, Rebecca of Republic, Missouri; two sisters, Alberta Cannon of North Carolina and Eleanora Cole of Cassville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Shannon Spence and Deanna Harriman; one great grandson, Dalton Spence and one great-great grandchild.

Virginia received her education in the Cassville area and lived her entire life here prior to moving to Republic in 2008. For several years she was employed as a quality control inspector for a clothing manufacturer in Monett. She also owned and operated a Christian Bookstore, enjoyed attending women’s church meetings and liked canning.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 25, 2015, in Antioch cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Christian Health and Rehab of Republic in memory of Virginia.

Sharon Kay Sparkman
(June 9, 1952 - September 24, 2015)

Sharon Kay Sparkman, age 63, of Shell Knob, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

She was born June 9, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of John Carl and Joanna (James) Sheets. On September 2, 2003, she was united in marriage to James Sparkman, who survives. Also surviving are her mother, Joanna Sheets of Shell Knob, Missouri; one brother, John Sheets and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her father, John Carl Sheets.

Sharon grew up and received her education in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a homemaker and in 1985, she moved to Shell Knob, Missouri to make her home. Some of her favorite pastimes were making crafts, tending to her plants and flowers and making jewelry. She enjoyed the lake and was an avid animal lover.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Steve Hare will conduct the services. Burial will be in Painter cemetery, Shell Knob.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.

Leona (Potts) Fletcher
(February 17, 1925 - September 27, 2015)

Leona Helen (Potts) Fletcher was born February 17, 1925, in Barry County, Missouri, the daughter of William Barlow and Nancy (Beal) Potts. Leona died Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the age of 90 years.

Leona Helen Potts was a graduate of Seligman, Missouri High School. On October 8, 1945, in Benton County, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Donald L. Fletcher, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Janet Marie (Fletcher) Gouty; three brothers, Jack, Vernon and Billy Jim Potts and one sister, Pearl Cline.

Surviving are her daughter, Pat Houk and her partner Richard Smarker of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Gale Fletcher and his wife Janet of Neosho, Missouri and Landon Fletcher and his wife Brenda Lou of Cassville, Missouri; a son-in-law, Jerry Gouty of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; six grandchildren, Craig Fletcher and his wife Angie, Ryan Fletcher and his wife Jodi, Leslie (Fletcher) Smith and her husband Tyler, Stacy (Fletcher) Runnels and her husband Steve, Brian Beeson and Chris Beeson and his wife Stephanie; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Neoma P. Tiner of Tulsa, Oklahoma and several extended family members.

She moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1973. In 1984, Leona retired from General Electric in Springfield after working on the assembly line. Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, crocheting, gardening and tending to her lawn. She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield. At an early age she was baptized in the creek near Maple Grove Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2015, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Shon Bishop will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maplewood cemetery, Exeter, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home in memory of Leona and sent to 3132 N. Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757 or given to Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Dennis Arthur Boyd
(February 17, 1956 - September 26, 2015)

Dennis Arthur Boyd, age 59, of Mano, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, in his home.

He was born February 17, 1956, in Montebello, California, the son of Byron Andrew Boyd, Sr. and Norma (Jaster) Boyd. On March 5, 1977, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, he was united in marriage to Catherine Mary “Cathy” Leary, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Amber Boullẽ and her husband Eric of Palm Bay, Florida and Jenna Etienne and her husband Steve of Mano, Missouri; three brothers, Terry Boyd of Thousand Oaks, California, Byron “Barney” Boyd of Anderson, Missouri and Ray Boyd and his wife Nona of Bentonville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Hayley, Meghan, Kenzie, William, Emma and Gracie and his best friend and “Brother” Frank Goergen of Cassville, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Susan Olsen and one brother, Patrick Duane Boyd.

Dennis grew up in California and graduated from Ganesha High School in Pomona, California. On August 19, 1974, he entered the United States Army, serving until August 18, 1976. For several years he was a self-employed purebred pet delivery driver. Eleven years ago he moved from Rosamond, California to Mano, Missouri to make his home. Some of his favorite pastimes were attending classic car shows and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving caregiver to his wife and was a great papa to his grandkids.

Services with military honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2015, in Missouri Veterans cemetery, Springfield, Missouri under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.

Contributions may be made to the family to help pay for further personal expenses.

Michael Ray Brewer
(August 12, 1953 - September 27, 2015)

Michael Ray Brewer, age 62, of Powell, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, in his home.

He was born August 12, 1953, in Springdale, Arkansas, the son of Woodrow and Dessie (Kinder) Brewer. On August 12, 1980, in Rogers, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Krull, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Davy Brewer and his significant other Valerie Coonfield of Garfield, Arkansas, Philip Cottrell and his wife Emily of Elko, Nevada and Tony Brewer and his wife Amanda of Rogers, Arkansas; four daughters, Kerry Brewer of Springdale, Arkansas, Vanessa Roughton and her husband Dustin of Bentonville, Arkansas, Kristie Holliday and her husband Adam of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Kay Shaffer and her husband Patrick of Bentonville, Arkansas; three brothers, Harold Brewer and his wife Tyleen of Rogers, Arkansas, Jackie Brewer and his wife Nita of Bentonville, Arkansas and Johnny Brewer of Oklahoma; three sisters, Shirley Jones of West Fork, Arkansas, Wanda Richardson and her husband Bobby of Rogers, Arkansas and Linda Hall and her husband Steve of Rogers, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and five brothers, Martin, Donald, Linden, Carroll and Quintan.

Michael spent most of his life in and around Arkansas. He was a self-employed roofer. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting and working on his land. He especially enjoyed being around his family.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2015, in Pratt cemetery, Garfield, Arkansas, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.

Mark A. Vaughn
(February 3, 1958 - October 18, 2015)

Mark A. Vaughn, age 57, of Seligman, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015, in his home.

He was born February 3, 1958, in Wellington, Kansas, the son of Archie R. and Betty J. (Woods) Vaughn. On October 5, 1984, in Garfield, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Elva Jo Cain, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda LeeAnn Vaughn of Seligman, Missouri and Sandra LouAnn Vaughn of Washburn, Missouri and one brother, Terry L. Vaughn and his wife Cynthia of Washington.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Mark grew up and received his education in Hennessey, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school. He then received an associate degree in Diesel Mechanics from a vocational school. For several years he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Rogers Sand and Gravel in Rogers, Arkansas. In 1984 he moved from Brightwater, Arkansas to Seligman, Missouri to make his home. He enjoyed his job, spending time with family and playing video games.

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
