MURPHY
Carl P. "Pat" Murphy, 77, Linn, died Jan. 5, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Corona, Calif., a son of Emmett and Lena Murrell Murphy. He was married Aug. 6, 1949, in Prairie Home, to Helen Gerloff, who died May 14, 1994.
He lived most of his life in Central Missouri and attended school in California, Mo. He owned and operated an antique dealership. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years. He was a member of the Chamois Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Kliethermes, Loose Creek; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. Burial will be in the Chamois City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Conception School, Loose Creek.
TERPENING
William H. Terpening Jr., 76, California, died Jan. 3, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born July 11, 1923, in St. Louis, a son of William H. Terpening. He was married in 1954 in St. Louis to Grace Hoppman, who died Feb. 14, 1981.
He was a laborer and brick mason. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include: one son, William H. Terpening III, California; one daughter, Rita Gebhardt, Fenton; two step daughters, Ruth Garcia, California, and Carolyn Hawks, Eldon; and three grandchildren and nine step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Harvey Terpening.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Leroy Moon will officiate. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
FILER
Stella G. Filer, 91, Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Oakview Living Center.
She was born May 18, 1908, in Patton, a daughter of John H. and Lula Belle Ridings Patton. She was married April 11, 1926, in Bollinger County, to Charles Robert Filer, who died Oct. 20, 1972.
She attended New Salem School at Patton. She worked at Tweedie Footwear, T.G.Y. Shoes and Crown Drug Store. She was a member of Plainview Methodist Church, Bollinger County.
Survivors include: one son, Buford Charles Filer, Jackson; two daughters, Wanda Stockman and Wilda Stieferman, both of Jefferson City; one sister, Norma Davenport, Marble Hill; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Turkey Hill Bible Camp, Freeburg; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
MADDEN
Rose Lee Oetting Madden, 66, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Hood Memorial Hospital, Amite, La.
She was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Callaway County, a daughter of Louis C. and Elizabeth Koelling Oetting. She was married July 14, 1951, in Jefferson City, to William L. Madden Sr., who survives at the home.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School, she was employed by Great-Western Bank of Tucson. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church of Tucson, Order of the Eastern Star and the Tucson Women's Bowling Association.
She was a former Girl Scout leader in Cahokia, Ill.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Connie L. Raborn, Roseland, La., Susan M. Cleveland, Anderson, S.C., and Dawn E. Carrigg, Tucson; two sons, William L. Madden Jr. and Shawn A. Madden, both of Tucson; one brother, Charles E. Oetting, Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.

SCHEPERLE
Marie C. Scheperle, 86, Jefferson City, died Jan. 4, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Marys Home, a daughter of Gerhardt and Catherine Monet Lueckenotte. She was married Sept. 28, 1930, in California, to Roy A. Scheperle, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, she attended St. Peters School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary; the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary; and a past member of the Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Audrey M. Howser and Beverly Scheperle, both of Jefferson City, and Barbara A. Walter, Springfield; one sister, Louise Morgan, Eldon; one brother, Clarence Lueckenotte, Jefferson City; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One son, Donald Roy Scheperle, died April 22, 1939.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee, the Rev. John Hobratschk and the Rev. Gerald Scheperle will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church, or to the Heisinger Lutheran Retirement Home.
ATKINSON
Clifford M. Atkinson, 86, Overland Park, Kan., died Jan. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Jefferson City. He was married to Ettarene Atkinson, who survives at the home.
He graduated from the Lutheran Parochial Grade School in Jefferson City and from Jefferson City High School. He attended the University of Kansas City. He worked in radio broadcast sales and was a member of the Alpha Lions Club, Kansas City.
Other survivors include: one son, Jerry L. Atkinson; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Christian Church, Overland Park. He will be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund, or to Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry.
Arrangements are under the direction of Charter Funerals, Kansas City.
BARRON
Lawrence E. Barron, 55, Jefferson City, died Jan. 5, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1944, in St. Louis, a son of Harold and Mary DePrez Barron. His mother survives in St. Louis. He was married Oct. 2, 1982, in Hannibal, to Beverly Robertson, who survives at the home.
He was a 1962 graduate of Lutheran Central High School, St. Louis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He was manager at the Dollar General Stores, Jefferson City, from 1997 until the present. He was employed with K-Mart, Jefferson City, from 1985-1997. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Christopher Barron, Columbia; two daughters, Whitney Barron and Sadeja DuPree, both of the home; one brother, David Barron, St. Louis; one sister, Grace Stewart, Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Hobratschk officiated.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to Trinity Lutheran Church.
GAWTHROP
Patricia Sue Irvine Gawthrop, 34, Preston, died Jan. 4, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born June 21, 1965, in Blackwell, Okla., a daughter of Buddy L. and Betty Patricia Anderson Irvine, who survive in Preston.
She attended Hickory County R-1 Schools and lived in the Hickory County community for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 99 in Hermitage; and of the Baptist Church in Soper, Okla.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Farrah Gawthrop, of the home; three brothers, James Irvine, Ron Irvine and William Irvine, all of the Preston area; and one sister, Sherry Jarvis, Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. Private family burial will be at a later date.
HILL
Rita A. Hill, 89, Camdenton, died Jan. 4, 2000, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.
She ws born July 31, 1910, in Pike County, Ark., a daughter of John and Tiny Lawless Lowery. She was married July 28, 1935, in Glenwood, Ark., to Wyatt Evan Hill, who died Aug. 1, 1993.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 28 years. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Camdenton. She was a charter member of the Retired Teachers Association of Camden County, where she served as past president and treasurer.
She is survived by 24 nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marc Magana will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church.
