MOORE
Freddie Woodson Moore, 83, Gravois Mills, died Jan. 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Morgan County, a son of William B. and Adella Sutton Moore. He was married Sept. 17, 1935, to Zelma "Chink" Gerlt, who survives at the home.
He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, John Moore and Preston Moore, both of Gravois Mills; two daughters, Alice "Nancy" Massey, Gravois Mills, and Diane "Dude" Brown, Selma, Texas ; one brother, Leslie T. Moore, Laurie; two sisters, Fay Williams, Gravois Mills, and Linnie Waisner, Versailles; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clyde William Moore.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie. The Rev. Larry Ollison will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.
ORR
Services were Saturday for Margaret C. Orr, 76, Canton, Ill., formerly of Jefferson City, who died Jan. 5, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 24, 1923, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Louis and Mary Clad Opel. She was married May 17, 1947, in Jefferson City, to Roy E. Orr, who survives at the home.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton.
Other survivors include: five sons, Robert Orr, Peoria, Ill., Richard Orr, Mount Vernon, James Orr, Laredo, Texas , Rodney Orr, Cuba, Ill., and William Orr, We-Ma-Tuk Hills, Ill.; one daughter, Sharon Orr, Peoria Heights, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Linda Walker, Canton; one sister, Mary Emmel, Jefferson City; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home, Canton. The Rev. Arthur D. Meyer officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Canton.
Memorials are suggested to Spoon River Hospice at Graham Hospital or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
STRONG
Lloyd E. "Bud" Strong, 80, Jefferson City, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Marshfield, a son of Tom C. and Emma Grieb Strong. He was married Feb. 8, 1947, in California, to Helen L. Jones, who died Jan. 10, 1999.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School, he attended Jefferson City Junior College. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He co-founded Strong Brothers and Tharp Lumber companies in 1946. He owned and operated Strong Lumber and Hardware and Strong-Elley Lumber and Hardware Co. for many years. He later worked for Montgomery Ward and Tharp Lumber Co., where he retired in 1980.
He was a member, elder and deacon at First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
Survivors include: one son, Thomas G. Strong, Jefferson City; and two sisters, Vivian Tharp and Bettie Gaines, both of Jefferson City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. R.W. Beard will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Brazito.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson's Foundation.
STOKES
Robert Martin Stokes, 76, Jefferson City, died Jan. 9, 2000, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Jefferson City, a son of Martin P. and Mabel Stone Stokes. He was married April 17, 1948, in Jefferson City, to Katheryn Lucein Boes, who survives at the home.
He was a 1941 graduate of St. Peter High School and attended Jefferson City Junior College and the University of Missouri. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was president of Stokes Electric Company.
He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral; Dan C. Coppen Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; Roy Sone VFW Post 1003; American Legion Post 5; honorary member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 257; I.B.E.W.-N.E.C.A. Apprenticeship Training Committee; National Electrical Contractors Association and Jefferson City Jaycees. He served on the Jefferson City Electrical Board and was a charter member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club and the Jefferson City Lions Club.
Other survivors include: four sons, Roger M. Stokes, Thomas K. Stokes, Neil D. Stokes and Mark A. Stokes, all of Jefferson City; two brothers, Donald C. Stokes, Jefferson City, and Leon M. Stokes Lohman; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Michael J. Wilbers will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Helias Foundation or the Carmelite Monastery.
STADLER
William T. "Bill" Stadler, 73, Waterford, Conn., a native of Jefferson City, died Nov. 4, 1999, in New London, Conn.
DILL
Bernadine Dill, 90, Chamois, died Jan. 10, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
Arrangements are incomplete at Morton Funeral Home, Chamois.
DOBSON
James Dallas "Jim" Dobson, 59, Centertown, died Jan. 10, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 9, 1940, in Tipton, a son of Elbert and Orpha Dix Dobson. He was married April 28, 1961, in Centertown, to Marilyn Siebert, who survives at the home.
A 1959 graduate of Russellville High School, he worked for Osage Outdoor Advertising and Weatherby Outdoor Advertising. He then worked as a custodian for the Jefferson City public schools until his retirement.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jeffery Dallas Dobson, Russellville, and James Douglas Dobson, Jefferson City; one daughter, Kimberly Sue Schlup, California; one sister, Susan Greer, California; one half sister, Louise Kramel, Liberty; one half brother, Bill Dobson, state of Michigan; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Centertown Baptist Church. The Rev. David Scudder will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

HANSFORD
Tempie Hansford, 81, formerly of Fulton, died Jan. 9, 2000, in the state of Iowa.

BUMGARNER
Thomas Lynn Bumgarner, 65, Marshfield, formerly of Jefferson City, died Jan. 8, 2000, in Yuma, Ariz.
He was born July 8, 1934, in Marshfield, a son of Henry and Grace Holloway Bumgarner. He was married to Freda Bumgarner, who survives at the home.
A veteran of the Korean War, he was a truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of First Christian Church, Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Teresa James, Olean, Laura Rose, Sebring, Fla., and Ellen Santoro, Orlando, Fla.; one son, Alan Thomas Bumgarner, Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Jameson and Patricia Gower, both of Springfield; one stepson, Kirk Bumgarner, Springfield; five sisters, Pauline Branstetter, Springfield, Irene Fuller, Laguna-Nigual, Calif., Neljean Haro, Auburn, Calif., Betty Douglas, Strafford, and Faye Blazer, Marshfield; one brother, Bob Bumgarner, Strafford; five grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren.
One daughter, Susan Bumgarner, and one grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Roy Wilson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Marshfield.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
EVANS
Marilyn Catherine Frank Evans, 59, Holts Summit, died Jan. 10, 2000, in Holts Summit.
She was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Mexico, a daughter of Ivo J. and Josephine Marie Ortmeyer Frank. She was married June 23, 1962, in Taos, to John Evans, who survives at the home.
She was a 1958 graduate of Helias High School and a 1962 graduate of St. John's School of Nursing, St. Louis. She worked for St. Marys Health Center for 33 years and co-founded Evans Photos in 1978.
She worked as a registered nurse for 10 years at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Charles. In 1973, she returned to Jefferson City, where she became supervisor of St. Marys Health Center Emergency Room and Ambulance Service. For the past three years, she was a St. Marys Home Health Care nurse.
She was a lifelong Catholic. She was a member of the American Nurses Association. She was active in Girl Scouts of America and was on the charter committee that established the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.
Other survivors include: one son, Michael Evans, Columbia; one daughter, Susan Nelson, St. Louis; three brothers, John Frank, Jefferson City, Bill Frank, New Bloomfield, and Jim Frank, Taos; three sisters, Carol Pleus, Taos, Kathy Parris, Jefferson City, and Janice Troesser, Frankenstein; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City.

WHITHAUS
Walter L. Whithaus, 67, Findlay, Ohio, died Jan. 10, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Osage County, a son of Albert and Bertha Reithmeyer Whithaus. He was married June 2, 1957, to Ann Jones, who survives.
He graduated from Chamois High School and attended Washburn University, Topeka, Kan. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he owned Pizza Hut franchises in Topeka and Findlay. He was a member of Howard United Methodist Church in Findlay, where he was active on several boards. He was also a member of Fostoria Country Club; Elks Club BPOE 75; and the Pits, Rod & Gun Club, all in Findlay.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jeffrey W. Whithaus, Robinson, Ill., and Jonathan E. Whithaus, Delaware, Ohio; two daughters, Jamie A. Zimmerman, Alpharetta, Ga., and JoLynda J. Croy, Findlay; and six grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Howard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wayne B. Geissinger will officiate. Burial will be in Knollcrest Cemetery, near Findlay.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
