POWELL
Arlene Elizabeth Powell, 61, New Bloomfield, died Jan. 10, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Springfield, a daughter of Frank and Lorraine Wekenborg Lock. She was married March 21, 1959, to Richard Dennis. She was married Sept. 6, 1980, in Holts Summit, to Carl Powell, who survives at the home.
She was employed as a clerk-typist at the Missouri Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1993.
Other survivors include: three sons, Eddie Powell, Belleville, Ill., Steve Dennis, Jefferson City, and Brian Powell, Table Rock; four daughters, Judy Wilder, Jefferson City, Carla Fuller and Dawn Jones, both of Holts Summit, and Kelly Dennis, New Bloomfield; three sisters, Glessie Surface, Taos, and Iona Bommel and Dorothy Wheeler, both of Jefferson City; one brother, Patrick Lock, Taos; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Arnold Bickel will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Memorial Park, Holts Summit.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
SCHOENING
Dorothy Mae Schoening, 81, Jefferson City, died Jan. 11, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Jan. 3, 1919, in Raytown, a daughter of Marvin and Ann Sullens. She was married in 1936 to George Sicks, who survives in San Diego, Calif. She was married in 1961, in Los Angeles, to Lee Schoening, who died in 1984.
She was a resident of Jefferson City since 1990.
Other survivors include: three sons, Jerry Sicks, Holts Summit, Marvin Schoening, Kansas City, and Brian Schoening, Olympia, Wash.; one daughter, Linda Sicks, Wolftown, Va.; two sisters, Vergie Tompkins, Mountain Grove, and Dorlene Morrison, Cabool; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Phyllis Hunt, died in May 1999.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home, Cabool. The Rev. Larry Shelley will officiate. Burial will be in Green Mountain Cemetery, Wright County.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday.
TOWNLEY
Services were Sunday for Timothy Paul Townley, infant son of Gregory and Janet Townley, Altoona, Iowa, who was stillborn Jan. 2, 2000, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
Other survivors include: one brother, Andrew Parsons, of the home; one sister, Jennifer Parsons, of the home; paternal grandparents Merrill and Norma Jean Townley, Chamois; maternal grandparents, John and Lavera Green, Newton, Iowa.
Services were at Rising Sun Church of Christ, Des Moines.
Memorials are suggested to Rising Sun Church of Christ.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hamilton's Funeral Home, Des Moines.
FERGUSON
Services were today for Robert D. Ferguson, 83, Linn Creek, who died Jan. 8, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.
He was born March 9, 1916, in Aurora, Ill., a son of Robert V. and Violet Wagner Ferguson. He was married Oct. 1, 1943, in Plainfield, Ill., to Velma H. Herzog, who survives at the home.
A retired gas company truck driver, he lived in Linn Creek for the past 18 years.
He also is survived by one brother, Stewart Ferguson, Plainfield, and two sisters, Margaret A. Flagg, Joliet, Ill., and Ruth Randolph, Tribune, Kan.
Services were at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dennis North officiated. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery, Linn Creek.

RIDGEL
Edna Ridgel, 85, Fulton, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
She was born June 24, 1914, in Naylor, a daughter of James W. and Denie Roberts Elder. She was married Dec. 22, 1928, in Fulton, to Clay Ridgel, who died July 2, 1987.
She worked at International Shoe Factory and later as a seamstress at Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, the SERVE Community Center and the New Serve Band.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dorothy Smith and Doris Hildreth, both of Fulton; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
One son, Jim Ridgel, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Mike Crowson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
SKILES
Virginia L. Skiles, 72, Jefferson City, died Jan. 12, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in St. Louis, a daughter of Shelby and Elizabeth DeGonia Duncan. She was married Dec. 5, 1942, in St. Louis, to Eugene Skiles, who died July 9, 1995.
She was a homemaker and a member of Solid Rock Family Church.
Survivors include: six sons, the Rev. Larry Skiles, Tampa Bay, Fla., the Rev. Terry Skiles, Riverside, Calif., the Rev. Ed Skiles, Indianapolis, the Rev. Joe Skiles, Jefferson City, the Rev. Duncan Skiles, Taft, Calif., and the Rev. Mark Skiles, Madison, Ill.; one daughter, Denise Payne, Iberia; three brothers, Chester Hansen and Ed Hansen, both of the state of California, and Lawrence Duncan, St. Louis; two sisters, Effie Zera, St. Louis, and Helen Spriggs, Geff, Ill.; 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
One son, Ricky Skiles, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Solid Rock Family Church. The Rev. Don Dennis will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

BURNETT
L. Anna Burnett, 94, Jefferson City, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Capital Healthcare Center.
She was born June 19, 1906, in Vienna, a daughter of Thomas J. and Phradie Jane High Swim. She was married in July 1925, in Eureka, Kan., to Ernest Clarke, who preceded her in death. She was married Oct. 3, 1939, in Columbia, to Lawrence Hickman Burnett, who died April 11, 1959.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School, she was a homemaker. She was employed as a seamstress at Czarlinsky Clothing Store and Hermans Department Store until her retirement.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include: seven sons, Thomas Clarke, Charles Clarke, Roy Clarke and Lawrence Burnett, all of Blue Eye, Norman Clarke, Boonville, Oliver Clarke, Jefferson City, and Ronnie Clarke, St. Martins; two daughters, Ollie Francis, Blue Eye, and Lyn Williams, Jefferson City; 48 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Marguerette Mae Redfield, died May 10, 1999.
Private family services are planned. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Boone County.
Memorials are suggested to Capital Region Medical Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
TWEHUS
Nora Lea Twehus, 45, Jefferson City, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 22, 1954, in Dixon, a daughter of George W. and Dorothy Jane Mitchell Green. She was married Jan. 4, 1975, in Jefferson City, to John Louis Twehus, who survives at the home.
She attended Laquey schools. A homemaker, she was employed at Scholastic Inc. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Other survivors include: two sons, John Allen Twehus, Eldon, and Jerry Louis Twehus, Jefferson City; five brothers, Raymond Earl Green, Cane, Ill., Fred Forrest Green, Waynesville, George William Green and John Adam Green, both of Laquey, and Ronald Dean Green, Crocker; and six sisters, Mary Ann Anderson and Margie Steen, both of Crocker, Norma Jean Atwell, Jefferson City, Barbara Jane Bowling, Swedeborg, Paula D. Christmann, St. Robert, and Judy May Weiners, Laquey.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Dan Merz will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the cathedral.
Memorials are suggested to the Nora Lea Twehus Memorial Fund.

BURGESS
Della Burgess, 90, Bolivar, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility, Bolivar.
She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Morgan County, a daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Hicks Williams. She was married Sept. 26, 1981, in Centertown, to Eric Burgess, who died July 3, 1994.
A member of Mount Herman Baptist Church, she was a telephone operator in Centertown.
Survivors include: two daughters, Loretta Greaves, Bolivar, and Jean Garnett, Versailles; one sister, Lucy Ball, Versailles; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Ken Martin and the Rev. Ed Brock will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
