DAVIS

Blanche "Aunt Blanche" Davis, 88, Bourbon, formerly of Fulton, died Jan. 13, 2000, at her home.

She was born Sept. 20, 1911, in Mokane, a daughter of John H. and Edna Jones Davis.

A Mokane High School graduate, she was director of interior maintenance at William Woods University for 21 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church in Fulton, then of United Methodist Church in Bourbon. She volunteered at nursing homes and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by one niece, Mary Springer, Bourbon.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Raymond McCallister will officiate. Burial will be in Mokane Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday.

LEAP

Aubra G. Leap, 82, Camdenton, died Jan. 13, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Camdenton, a son of Everett and Anna Gibson Leap.

He was a carpenter and a Baptist.

Survivors include one sister, Oneita Collins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Donald Leap will officiate.

MARTIN

Lloyd Elton Martin, 83, Ashland, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Ashland Healthcare.

He was born April 4, 1916, in Boone County, a son of Edward R. and Maggie Jones Martin.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a farmer and a charter member of Ashland VFW Post 6762.

Survivors include two nieces, Doris Calvin and Alma Scott, and two nephews, Eddie Martin and Jesse Martin.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

Memorials are suggested to New Salem Cemetery.

PHELPS

Wayne Phelps, 72, Vienna, died Jan. 12, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.

He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Bland, a son of Albert and Gertha Shockley Phelps. He was married July 18, 1953, in St. John's, to Bertha Haynes, who survives at the home.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a welder in boiler repair for Continental Boiler Company, St. Louis, for 25 years.

He retired in 1986 and moved to Vienna.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Richland.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gene Phelps, Independence, and David Phelps, Freeburg; one daughter, Karen Shanks, Vienna; one sister, Fern Kuhne, Ownesville; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Little Flock Baptist Church, Vienna. The Rev. Cellis Crum and the Rev. Howard Opperman will officiate. Burial will be in Little Flock Cemetery, near Vienna.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Little Flock Baptist Church.

RIDENHOUR

Jerry L. "Hickory" Ridenhour, 59, Columbia, Ill., formerly of Belle, died Jan. 12, 2000, at his home.

He was born May, 31, 1940, in Belle, a son of Roscoe and Helen Huff Ridenhour. He was married Sept. 7, 1957, in Belle, to Mary G. Litton, who survives at the home.

A meat cutter for 40 years, he worked the past 17 years at Vogt's IGA, Columbia, Ill., He was a member of Meatcutter's Union 534, Local 88, and Bethel Pentecostal Church, Rosewood Heights, Ill.

Other survivors include: three sons, Robb Ridenhour, Rosewood Heights, and Rick Ridenhour and Randy Ridenhour, both of Wood River, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Ridenhour, Pacific, and Ronald Ridenhour, Kirkwood; two sisters, Jean Adkins, Belle, and Donna Christman, Wood River; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Belle. The Rev. Royce Roy and the Rev. Phil Rector will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Sassmann's Funeral Home, Belle.

COLLETT

Beulah "Peggy" Collett, 96, California, died Jan. 14, 2000, at California Care Center.

She was born Feb. 17, 1903, near Fortuna, a daughter of John and Mary Comer Scott. She was married Oct. 27, 1923, in California, to Clyde Allee Collett, who died July 9, 1966.

A seamstress at California Manufacturing for 30 years, she retired in 1968. She was a member of First Christian Church, California, OATS, and Retirees Club at California Manufacturing.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Scrivner, California, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. David Nicholson and the Rev. Ivan Dameron will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to California Nutrition Center, 107 W. Versailles Ave., California, Mo.

RICE

Fred Arthur Rice, 70, Fulton, died Jan. 13, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center.

He was born March 5, 1929, in Holts Summit, a son of Roger and Elizabeth Phillips Rice. He was married July 12, 1953, to Nancy Suggett, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran, he was a photographer with the Signal Corps and was wounded in Korea. He graduated from Fulton High School and worked in construction at Colorado State Hospital, Pueblo.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Karen Rice Scobbie, and St. Louis, Kathy Rice Anthony, Columbia; two sisters, Ila Gladys Turpin, Longmont, Colo., and Bonnie Estelle Powell, Fulton; three brothers, Harry Hanes Rice, Millersburg, Irvine Keith Rice, Louisville, Ky., and Marshall Leroy Rice, St. Charles; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Carol Koenig will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Prairie Chapel Methodist Church c/o Forest Backer Jr.; to or the American Heart Association.

SHOUSE

Olive Merle Holzhauser Shouse, 78, Tebbetts, died Jan. 13, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born March 31, 1921, in New Bloomfield, a daughter of Walter F. and Merl Smith Burre. She was married Aug. 12, 1940, to Richard Theodore Holzhauser, who died Feb. 9, 1963. She then was married April 23, 1974, to Howard Shouse, who died Nov. 7, 1975.

A member of the Meat Cutters Union, she worked in the meat department at Gerbes Supermarket. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star Mokane Chapter 352, Rebakah Lodge 813, Riverside Homemakers Club and Tebbetts Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Ronald Wayne Holzhauser,  Jefferson City, and Don T. Holzhauser, Whittier, Calif.; one sister, Lois Bess, Tebbetts; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

One great-grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tebbetts Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold Ferrell will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Tebbetts Methodist Church.

Memorials are suggested to Liberty Cemetery Fund c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.

FREET

Estelle May Freet, 62, Americus, died Jan. 13, 2000, at Boone Hospital, Columbia.

She was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Sedalia, to Frank C. and Mary V. Beeler Stetzenbach. She was married Oct. 3, 1954, in Sedalia, to the Rev. Raymond Freet, who survives at the home.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Big Springs

Other survivors include: four sons, Michael P. Freet, Mishawaka, Ind., John R. Freet, Columbia, Frederick F. Freet and Edward E. Freet, both of Holts Summit; three daughters, Margaret M. Asher, Bluffton, Ludonna I. Coleman, O'Fallon, and Catherine A. Harding, Holts Summit; three brothers, Charles Stetzenbach, Ellen Lee Stetzenbach, and LaVerne Stetzenbach, all of Sedalia; one sister, June Thalheim, Georgetown; 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

One great-grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church. The Rev. Don Buford and the Rev. Dave Million will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.

WHITTLE

Lena Whittle, 83, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Versailles and California, died Jan. 13, 2000, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa.

She was born Feb. 25, 1916, in Linn Creek, a daughter of Andrew and Nancy Pemberton Bland. She was married Nov. 10, 1934, to Ural Edgar, who died May 17, 1964. She was married April 18, 1965, to Glen Whittle, who died May 6, 1989.

A homemaker, she lived in Morgan and Moniteau counties most of her life.

Survivors include: six sons, Donald Edgar, Lincoln, John Edgar and Oral Edgar, both of Barnett, George Edgar, David Edgar and Timothy Edgar, all of Versailles; four daughters, Mable Wiecken, Versailles, Fern Brown, Mesa, Naomi Miller, Otterville, and Sandra Davenport, California; one sister, Zettie Wallis, Hiawatha, Kan.; 41 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Two sons, James Henry Edgar and Paul E. Edgar, and one daughter, Nancy Lee Edgar, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Homes, Versailles. Wilford Whittle will officiate. Burial will be in Big Rock Cemetery, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the Lena Whittle Memorial Fund.
