BRANSON
Walter E. Branson, 68, Chamois, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Osage County, a son of Waymon and Mary Yates Branson.
He was a resident of Osage County for most of his life and attended Linn public schools. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed in a factory for several years. He also was a watch repairman.
He was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include: three brothers, Leslie Branson, Chamois, Howard Branson, Loose Creek, and Oscar Branson, Taos; and one sister, Rose Wilson, Linn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Lyle Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
CADY
Glen G. Cady, 82, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Fulton, a son of Harry B. and Mary Ann Rankin Cady. He was married Dec. 27, 1941, in Jefferson City, to Margaret F. DeLong, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was employed with Sunlight Laundry and later was a machinist at Egan Machine Shop and Hagan Milling Machinery Co. He owned and operated Cady's Machine Shop from 1957 to 1982.
He was a member of American Legion Post 5, Roy Sone VFW Post 1003 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Other survivors include: one son, Gary G. Cady, Lohman; one daughter, Jean M. Moffat, Jefferson City; two sisters, Irene Kiso and Ruth Adrian, both of Jefferson City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
One infant grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. R. William Peckman will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
CARNEY
William Dale Carney, 76, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in St. Louis, a son of Fount W. and Dollie Dunham Carney. He was married Oct. 31, 1942, in Salem, to Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Licking High School and a 1949 graduate of the Missouri School of Mines, Rolla. An Army veteran of World War II, he was employed in the bridge engineering division of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department for 37 years until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Academy of Civil Engineers at the University of Missouri, Rolla.
Other survivors include: one son, James Dale Carney, Jefferson City; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Waegelin, Rochester Hills, Mich.; one brother, Donald Carney, Rolla; two sisters, Wilma Roggenbuck, Licking, and Ada Rhea, state of Oregon; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Doyle Sager and the Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.
ESTES
Mary Allee Estes, 89, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Jefferson City Manor.
She was born June 28, 1910, in St. Louis, a daughter of Clarence R. and Laura Divers Wilburn. She was married Oct. 12, 1939, to Walter R. Estes, who died May 24, 1984.
She graduated from high school in Kansas in 1929. A homemaker, she had worked as a secretary at the Missouri Highway Department. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Robert M. "Bob" Estes, Jefferson City; one daughter, Carol J. Hale, Paola, Kan.; one sister, Bette Rackers; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or Jefferson City Manor.
YOUNG
Floyd Young, 88, Eldon, died Jan. 14, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born July 8, 1911, in French Mills, a son of Andrew and Anna Reed Young. He was married Oct. 16, 1937, in Detroit, to Marie Lenzi, who survives at the home.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a retired farmer. He had worked as a miner and for Chrysler Automotive in Detroit. He also worked as a carpenter and for Osage Products, Eldon. He had lived in Eldon since 1947.
He was a member of the DAV, Eldon Country Club and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon.
Other survivors include: one son, Terry Young, of the home, two daughters, Mareena Rook, Valrico, Fla., and Laslee Vernon, Eldon; two sisters, Ova Brooks, Desloge, and Flora Meyers, Arcadia; one brother, Claude Young, state of Missouri; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Kerry Young, died May 28, 1978.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
JONES
J. Almon Jones, 81, Russellville, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Osage County, a son of John A. and Cordelia Dane Jones. He was married Sept. 27, 1941, in Jefferson City, to Elnora Irene Amos, who died May 5, 1991.
He was a self-employed mechanic in the Russellville area, and also farmed and did carpentry. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church, near Russellville.
Survivors include: two sons, David Jones, Lohman, and Johnny Jones, Russellville; three daughters, Janice Watkins, Eldon, and Carol Tinsman and Joyce Blackwell, both of Russellville; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Enon Baptist Church. The Rev. Randy Trumbo will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, near Russellville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
MEYER
Louis J. "Doc" Meyer, 78, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born June 3, 1921, in Wardsville, a son of Dr. Louis A.T. and Marie "Mayme" Scherr Meyer. He was married Jan. 29, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Mary Margaret Phelps, who survives at the home.
He was a 1939 graduate of St. Peter High School. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he co-owned Heidbreder & Meyer Auto Supply from 1952 to 1968. He owned and operated Doc Meyer Auto Supply since 1968.
He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Other survivors include: two sons, James L. Meyer, Holts Summit, and John R. Meyer, Jefferson City; three daughters, Kathleen A. Boyer, Mary Sue Nilges and Diane M. Roling, all of Jefferson City; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Daniel J. Merz will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Samaritan Center, Peru Missions or to the American Heart Association.
PLASSMEYER
Hilda Marie Plassmeyer, 91, Westphalia, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Westphalia Retirement Home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1908, in Westphalia, a daughter of Anton and Mary Hilkemeyer Fechtel. She was married June 6, 1931, in Westphalia, to Vincent Plassmeyer, who died June 5, 1987.
She attended St. Joseph's School, Westphalia. A homemaker, she was a postmistress before her marriage. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Westphalia, St. Ann's Sodality and St. Ann's Sewing Circle. She was a lifetime member of the Westphalia Historical Society.
Survivors include: three daughters, Betty Caplinger, Monarch Beach, Calif., Janet Asel, Westphalia, and Midge Villella, Pittsburgh; two sons, Joe Plassmeyer, Encinitas, Calif., and Ron Plassmeyer, Westphalia; one sister, Celeste "Sally" Gibbs, Westphalia; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, Westphalia. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Westphalia.
Memorials are suggested to Linn Nutrition Center or St. Joseph's School, Westphalia.
SHIPMAN
Ruth Blankenship Shipman, 77, Linn Creek, died Jan. 15, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.
She was born April 7, 1922, near Montreal, a daughter of John S. and Nineveh Dell Clark Blankenship. She was married July 2, 1938, in Camdenton, to Dink Shipman, who died Dec. 14, 1982.
A lifelong Camden County resident, she had been a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church since 1939.
Survivors include: three sons, Bill Shipman, Macks Creek, and Fred Shipman and Butch Shipman, both of Linn Creek; three daughters, Sue Kuhn, Sunrise Beach, Linda Starr, Camdenton, and Ellen Henderson, Linn Creek; one sister, Bonnie Shipman, Montreal; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
One son, Eddie Shipman, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Linn Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Ginnings will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, Linn Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.
