CLENNIN

Trella C. Clennin, 86, California, died Jan. 20, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1913, in McGirk, a daughter of Harry T. and Rachel Caroline Schull Bolin. She was married Oct. 1, 1933, in McGirk, to Nicholas W. Clennin, who survives at the home.

An eighth-grade graduate of Highland School, she worked for Swift and Company. She baked cookies, cakes and wedding cakes for people in the area. She was a member of California United Church of Christ and Evangeline Class and worked with Wonder Workers and Busy Bee 4-H groups.

Other survivors include: two sons, Paul Clennin and Harold Clennin, both of California; one sister, Ruth Wells, California; two brothers, Raymond Bolin, California, and the Rev. Jewel Bolin, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Home, California. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in Rohrbach Cemetery, north of California.

Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Christ Building Fund, 101 North Oak Street, California, Mo. 65018.

ELLIS

Chuck Ellis, 76, Eldon, died Jan. 19, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Redondo Beach, Calif., a son of Charles W. Sr. and Bessie Jane Worden Ellis. He was married Jan. 25, 1945, in Las Vegas, to Arvella Porter, who survives at the home.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a farmer and a steam fitter. He was mayor of Old Bagnell for six years.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sherrie Ancell, Eldon, and Betty Ellis, Columbia, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be at a later date. The remains were cremated.

Memorials are suggested in his name to the World War II memorial at any Wal-Mart.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home.

MULLIKIN

Bert Mullikin Jr., 77, Macks Creek, died Jan. 19, 2000, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1922, in Kansas City, Kan., a son of Bert Sr. and Inez Cantrell Mullikin. He was married June 21, 1951, in Independence, to Zella Marie Cross, who died Sept. 3, 1984.

An Army veteran, he was a lineman/installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kansas City.

Survivors include two sons, John Mullikin, Hamilton, and David Mullikin, Macks Creek, and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.

ROOFFENER

Roscoe S. Rooffener, 86, Macks Creek, died Jan. 19, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Camden County, a son of Arthur and Rosa Meads Rooffener. He was married Dec. 22, 1948, to Blanch Noland, who died April 23, 1999.

A farmer, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 433, and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 20, all of Macks Creek.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Rooffener and Ben Rooffener, both of Macks Creek, and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Branch Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Dean Rooffener and the Rev. Paul Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

SWATEK

Hattie H. Swatek, 79, Lake Ozark, died Jan. 20, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Tabor, S.D., a daughter of Joseph and Mary Koupa Sykora. She was married Jan. 17, 1939, in Tabor, to Leo Swatek, who died Feb. 20, 1986.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Tyndall, S.D. She resided in the Lake area for the past year.

Survivors include one daughter, Edith Riley, Osage Beach, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerry Kopel and Msgr. Carlton Hermann will officiate. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Tabor.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with a rosary at 1 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.

TERRY

Louise Terry, 77, Vienna, died Jan. 19, 2000, in Rolla.

She was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Vichy, a daughter of John and Opal Moreland Bailey. She was married in 1938 to Pete Cook, who died in 1953. She was married Sept. 25, 1965, to Lloyd Terry, who survives at the home.

A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna.

Other survivors include: six sons, Gary Cook, Salem, Mitchell Terry, Vienna, Billy Cook and Donnie Cook, both of Cuba, and Lanny Terry and Mike Terry, both of Rolla; four daughters, Dorothy Cox, Rolla, Mary Snethern, West Plains, Teresa Happle, St. James, and Marilyn Boyce, Blue Springs; two brothers, Arnold Bailey, New Bloomfield, and Clarence "Jack" Bailey, St. James; two sisters, Marie Chambers, Vichy, and Geneva Farley, Holts Summit; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One son, Danny Cook, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Howard Opperman and the Rev. Cameron Moles will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

BRADLEY

Virgil L. J. Bradley, 69, Fulton, died Jan. 21, 2000, at Columbia Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1930, near Gallatin, a son of Virgil J. and Lola Christine Vanderpool. He was married Dec. 15, 1990, in Rolla, to Carolyn Hollandsworth, who survives at the home.

A 1949 graduate of Gallatin High School, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He received an associate's degree in 1956 from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa; and a bachelor's degree in 1958 from the University of Denver. He received a master's degree in social work from the University of Denver in 1960. He worked at the Kansas Treatment Center for Children and then at the Kansas Division of Institutional Management.

He was employed at Fulton State Hospital from 1968-1991, retiring as director of quality assurance. He also taught part-time at William Woods College and at the University of Missouri School of Social Work.

Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Bradley and Gregory Bradley, both of Fulton; one daughter, Christine Thorp, Marshall; one stepdaughter, Vicki Williamson, Texas City, Texas ; two brothers, Amos Bradley, Lee's Summit, and George Bradley, Lathrop; one sister, Mildred McNeely, Jamestown; and two step grandchildren.

Private family services will be at Columbia Manor, Columbia. He will be cremated under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

SCHWARTZE

Alphonse J. Schwartze, 95, Westphalia, died Jan. 20, 2000, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

He was born Feb. 21, 1904, in Westphalia, a son of Bernard F. and Clara Plassmeyer Schwartze. He was married in 1969 to Margaret Hines, who died Feb. 6, 1994.

He owned and operated Maries Valley Hatchery. He established the A.J. Schwartze Community Foundation, which has distributed more than $2,400,000 to organizations throughout Osage County. He established separate foundations which have provided scholarships to area students. His most recent gift assisted with the installation of a new sewer system in Westphalia. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Holy Name Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Western Catholic Union Club, Westphalia Lions Club, and Westphalia Historical Society.

Survivors include two brothers, Joseph H. Schwartze and Emil H. Schwartz, both of Westphalia.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at St. Joseph Church, Westphalia.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bishop Michael J. McAuliffe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.

Bishop John R. Gaydos will receive and bless his remains at 3 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia.

HOLBERT

William T. Holbert, 57, Eldon, died Jan. 20, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Boonville, a son of Lawrence F. and Edith F. Lanvaster Holbert. His mother survives in Columbia. He was married June 2, 1978, to Norma DuPr'e, who survives at the home.

He worked for a moving and storage company.

Other survivors include: two sons, William F. Holbert and David H. Holbert, both of Eldon; one daughter, Jodie F. Holbert, Columbia; one stepson, Robert A. McKay II, Evansville, Ind.; three brothers, Alfred Lawrence, Columbia, Terry Lawrence, Fulton, and Ralph Lawrence, Eldon; two sisters, Janet Holbert, Arkansas, and Sarah Walters, Eldon; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The body will be cremated.
