YORK

Mary Lucille York, 83, Tipton, died Jan. 26, 2000, in Tipton.

She was born April 23, 1916, in Sedalia, a daughter of Vessie and Mary Ann Smith Hall. She was married Oct. 1, 1932, in Cooper County, to Raymond Arch York, who died Sept. 16, 1992.

She lived in Tipton since 1960. She worked for North American Aircraft in the state of California during World War II. She was a sales clerk in Carter's Store in Tipton, and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, David York, Tipton; two brothers, Vessie Hall Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donald Hall, state of California; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Baptist Church. The Rev. Steven Strauch will officiate. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Home or Oakland Baptist Church.

BLANKS

James Leroy "Jimmy" Blanks, 49, Eldon, died Jan. 26, 2000, in Eldon.

He was born March 1, 1950, in Boonville, a son of Leroy and Zelma L. Chamberlain Blanks.

He worked for 12 years in maintenance at Mercantile Bank, Eldon, and was self-employed in the lawn care and mowing services business.

Survivors include two sisters, Helen M. Hill, Eldon, and Marsha Kidwell, Barnett.

The body will be cremated. No services are planned.

Memorials are suggested to the family c/o Mercantile Bank of Eldon, P.O. Box 395, Eldon, Mo. 65026.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

CORNISH

John W. Cornish, 71, Gravois Mills, died Jan. 26, 2000, at his home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan., a son of Henry D. and Jane Louise Sluder Cornish. He was married Nov. 26, 1948, to Betty M. Richardson, who survives at the home.

A Marine veteran, he was a yard master for Santa Fe Railroad, Kansas City, Kan., retiring after 31 years. He was a member of Gravois Mills United Methodist Church. He was a member of United Trainmen's Union, Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, Laurie, Rosedale Eagles, and Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624, Sunrise Beach.

Other survivors include one daughter, Gloria Williams, Eureka, Kan., four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

One son, John Henry Cornish, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Gravois Mills United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dan Adkison will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Johnson County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Overland Park, Kan.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to Option Care Missouri River Hospice, 3210 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, Mo. 65201; or Gravois Mills United Methodist Church.

MANESS

Jesse Warn Maness, 67, Alvin, Texas , died Jan. 26, 2000, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1933, in DeSoto, a son of Joseph L. and Rose Lee Taylor Maness. His stepmother, Hilda Maness, survives in  Jefferson City. He was married Nov. 21, 1959, in Harlingen, Texas , to Amy Lou Coots, who survives at the home.

An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was in the service for 141Ž2 years. He was a truck driver for several corporations, including Mission Petroleum, Houston, Texas , where he worked for 14 years before retiring.

Other survivors include: three sons, Roger Barlow, Jimmy Maness and Craig Maness, all of Alvin; two daughters, Lonnie Thomas, Houston, Texas , and Carla Williams, Alvin; two brothers, Harold Maness, DeSoto, and Arthur Maness, Bland; three sisters, JoAnn Cantriel, California, and Freda Schubert and Rhonda Maness, both of  Jefferson City; and nine grandchildren.

Private memorial services will be at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jeters Memorial Funeral Home, Friendswood, Texas .

SCHNEIDER

Alphonse H. Schneider, 85,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 5, 1915, in Koeltztown, a son of Frank and Francis Zeilmann Schneider.

He attended St. Boniface School, Koeltztown. He was a bellhop at the Hotel Governor and the Palace Inn, Taos. He also was employed as a clerk and worked for several area farmers.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church,  Jefferson City, the Eagles Club and the Lions Club.

Survivors include: one half brother, Gilbert Schneider, state of Georgia; and one sister, Hildegarde Haslag, Loose Creek.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. The Rev. Gregory Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Loose Creek.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.

GARDNER

Gwennyth "Gwenn" Gardner, 49, Camdenton, died Jan. 27, 2000, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1950, in Cottonwood, Ariz., a daughter of Charles and Roma Alexander Gardner. Her mother survives in Nevada.

A counselor for kindergarten through sixth grade students at Macks Creek School, she was a member of Foundation Fellowship Church, Camdenton, Missouri Teacher's Association, CTA of Macks Creek Schools, and co-sponsor of the student council.

Other survivors include one brother, David Gardner, Nevada, and one sister, Gayla Gibbs, Nevada.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Macks Creek High School gymnasium. The Rev. David Lakebrink will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Parkview Gardens, Kirksville.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Macks Creek School Gwenn Gardner Scholarship Fund, c/o Macks Creek Bank, PO Box 180, Macks Creek, Mo. 65786; or the Foundation Fellowship Church, 207 Caulfield, Camdenton, Mo. 65020.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

GODDARD

Marie L. Goddard, 102, Versailles, died Jan. 27, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born June 29, 1897, in Moundridge, Kan., a daughter of Emil and Adolphine Knispel Meuschke. She was married Dec. 22, 1920, to Earl A. Goddard, who died Sept. 19, 1970.

She was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church, Missionary Society, Glensted Home Circle Club, Morgan County Poultry Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and Morgan County Historical Club. She gave piano lessons and played her organ at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

Survivors include: one son, Frank Goddard, Arvada, Colo.; two daughters, Mary Etta Jenkins, Versailles, and Florence Scott, Puyallup, Wash.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

One great-grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Versailles United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Homes, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to the Marie Goddard Piano Trust Fund, c/o Versailles United Methodist Church.

MERRITT

Annie Elizabeth Gilliland Merritt, 89, Camdenton, died Jan. 27, 2000 in Camdenton.

She was born April 22, 1910, in Tulare County, Calif., a daughter of Charles E. and Celestine "Tenia" Kullman Gilliland. She was married May 17, 1934, in Fresno, Calif., to Glenn A. Merritt, who died in 1979.

She graduated from high school in Reedley, Calif., in 1929, then graduated from Fresno Beauty College. She lived most of her life in Fresno and San Francisco, and divided her time between Fresno and Camdenton since 1979. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton, and their "crafty ladies" group.

Survivors include: two daughters, Beverly A. Merritt Cartwright, Fresno, and Barbara J. Merritt Wright, Camdenton; one sister, Emma T. Gilliland Coffey, Shingle Springs, Calif.; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Two great-grandsons preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Fr. James Fuemmeler will officiate. Burial will be in Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home.

HAMILTON

Fred Hamilton, 69, Eldon, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born June 1, 1930, in Ansil, a son of William J. and Dora May Duvall Hamilton. He was married May 29, 1953, in Benton Harbor, Mich., to Thelma Borton, who died Sept. 1996.

He was a self-employed painter.

Survivors include: one daughter, Pam Teske, state of Florida; one son, B.R. Miller, state of Arkansas; two brothers, Charles Hamilton and Robert Hamilton, both of Arkansas; one sister, Geraldine Watkins, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

One daughter, Patty Hamilton, and one son, Dan Hamilton, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Stephen Riordan will officiate.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
