EMORY
Carl Emory, 81, Salem, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Salem Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1918, in Sligo, a son of Thomas and Mabel Miles Emory. He was married Jan. 28, 1939, to Rosalee Walker, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Leo Emory, Jefferson City; five daughters, Jeanette Koogler, Licking, June Evans, Houston, Mo., Carla Martin, California, Glenda Elliott, Jefferson City, and Mary Brooks, Salem; one brother, Harold Emory, Salem; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at James & Gahr Mortuary, Salem. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery, Salem.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to New Home Baptist Church, Salem, Hospice or the Parkinson Foundation.
COFFELT
Sybil E. Vogel Coffelt, 91, Tipton, died Jan. 30, 2000, at Tipton Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1908, in Mullinville, Kan., a daughter of Edward F. and Ethel Teresa Cope Vogel. She was married in March 1934 in Warrensburg to Dorsey Shackelford Coffelt, who died in 1969.
A 1928 graduate of California High School, she graduated with a teaching certificate from Warrensburg Teachers College. She taught in rural Moniteau County schools. A homemaker, she had lived in Latham and was a member of Latham Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Dorsey Coffelt, Jamestown; three daughters, Sylvia Sanders, Oak Grove, Mary Bersano, Smithton, and Terry Brown, California; three brothers, Edward F. Vogel, Tipton, William B. Vogel, California, and George Vogel, Buffalo; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
One son, Robert Coffelt, died in 1991. One grandson and one great-grandson also preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. David Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, near Latham.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. today.

ZEMMER
Joseph Lawrence Zemmer, 77, Columbia, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Biloxi, Miss., a son of Joseph L. and Hazel Quint Zemmer. He was married June 28, 1950, in New York City, N.Y., to Joan Kornfield, who preceded him death.
A veteran of World War II, he earned degrees in mathematics from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin. A professor of mathematics at University of Missouri-Columbia, he was a visiting scholar at Yale University, Newhaven, Conn., Tubingen University, Giessen, Germany, and Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., a Fulbright Scholar at Osmania University, Hyderbad, India, a consultant for the National Bureau of Standards, and a chairman of the University of Missouri-Columbia math department. He retired in 1988 as Professor Emeritus. He was active in Congregation Beth Shalom and Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: one son, Joel Zemmer, Jefferson City; two daughters, Judith Zemmer, Columbia, and Rachel Zemmer, St. Paul, Minn; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Hillel Foundation, Columbia. The Rabbi Yossi Feintuck will officiate. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Congregation Beth Shalom or the American Cancer Society.
BALLARD
Services were today for Shayna Christine Ballard, infant daughter of Michael S. and Tammy Barclif Ballard, Versailles, who was stillborn Jan. 26, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
Her parents survive at the home.
Other survivors include: her twin brother, Michael Aaron Ballard, of the home; paternal grandparents, Michael and Sue Ballard, Richland; maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Charles and Cheryl Barclif, Springfield; maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Jerry and Nancy Pinson; paternal great-grandparents, Glen and Alma Ballard, Tuscumbia; maternal great-grandparents, Nick Adams, Columbia, and Bonnie Johnson, state of Oklahoma; and paternal great-great-grandmother, Millie Huddleston, Iberia.
Graveside services were held in New Hope Cemetery, near Kaiser. The Rev. Mike Duncan officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
CRABTREE
Ira Crabtree, 73, Sunrise Beach, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Linn Creek, a son of Ira H. and Jodie Hibdon Crabtree. He was married in 1947 to Arlene Megart, who preceded him in death.
A Marine veteran and fireman with the Kansas City Fire Department, he owned and operated Ozark Linen and Towel Service, Sunrise Beach. He helped organized the Sunrise Beach volunteer fire department.
Survivors include: one brother, Cleo Crabtree, Sunrise Beach; and three sisters, Margurite Barnum, Warsaw, Maxine Bartley, Sunrise Beach, and Eva Uptergrove, Weslaco, Texas .
Two sons, Rodney Crabtree and Alan Crabtree, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
DOUGHTY
Doris J. Doughty, 63, Jefferson City, died Jan. 29, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Norfolk, Va., a daughter of Chester F. and Virginia Bunch Wilcox. She was married Sept. 6, 1954, in Norfolk, Va., to Orville R. Doughty, who died May 11, 1998.
She attended high school in Norfolk.
A resident of Jefferson City since 1993, she was employed at Sydney's Cafeteria in the Truman State Office Building for several years.
She currently was employed in the Corporations Department of the Missouri Secretary of State.
Survivors include: four sons, Chester R. Doughty, Jefferson City, Jim L. Doughty, Carpinteria, Calif., Ron K. Doughty, Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Jerry A. Doughty, Fulton; one sister, Bonnie J. Butler, Portsmouth, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday in Longwood Cemetery, Ponca City, Okla.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary.
LOONEY
Velva Moore Looney, 78, Camdenton, who died Jan. 28, 2000, was also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
HARRIMAN
Mary Berniece "Bunny" Harriman, 89, Holts Summit, died Jan. 29, 2000, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1910, in Kansas City, Kan., a daughter of Forrest L. and Anne Elizabeth Edwards Gosney. She was married April 9, 1940, in Kansas City, to Joseph Philpott Harriman, who died Nov. 7, 1990.
She was a graduate of Central High School, Kansas City, and a homemaker. She was employed as a clerk in Kansas City grocery stores and at the Hartsburg Turnoff Station in Boone County.
She worked as a secretary with Kroll-Collier Magazine in Wichita and New York. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist and the Christian Science Reading Room. She served on church boards and committees.
Survivors include: one son, James Forrest Harriman, Snellville, Ga.; one daughter, Ruth Johnson, Holts Summit; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, David Lee Harriman, died Oct. 23, 1993.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Buescher Memorial Home. Millicent Schindler will officiate. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to First Church of Christ Scientist or to a charity of the donor's choice.
