POWELL

Services were today for Evelyn F. Powell, 87, Sunrise Beach, who died Feb. 13, 2000, at Springfield Rehabilitation Healthcare Center, Springfield.

She was born March 9, 1912, in Rockdale, a daughter of George W. and Florence Sarah Stuckey DePew. She was married Dec. 23, 1938, to Raymond L. Powell, who died Oct. 29, 1967.

She helped operate the family farm and the Sunrise Service Center. She was a member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie.

Survivors include: four sons, Gene E. Powell, Rosebud, David L. Powell, Egan, Minn., and Larry R. Powell and Jerry L. Powell, both of Sunrise Beach; three daughters, Linda E. Waisner, Ann E. Woods and Kathy E. Swope, all of Springfield; one sister, Nadine Janicke, Versailles; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services were at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Lawley officiated. Burial was in Rockdale Cemetery, Sunrise Beach.

Memorials are suggested to Rockdale Cemetery c/o Allee-Reed Funeral Home, 101 Clint Ave., Camdenton, Mo. 65020.

COTTEN

Nina Faye Cotten, 67, Mexico, died Feb. 14, 2000, at Audrain Medical Center, Mexico.

She was born Aug. 12, 1932, in Eldon, a daughter of Norman and Maude Robbins Cotten.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Survivors include: two sisters, Cecil Holmes, Centralia, and Lois Phelps, Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, Leonard Cotten, Eldon.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ninth Street Christian Church, Eldon. Gilbert Pearson will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery near Eldon.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

CLARK

Bessie Morris Clark, 89, Osage Beach, died Feb. 15, 2000, at Osage Beach Healthcare Center.

She was born Sept. 21, 1910, in Camden County, a daughter of Charles W. and Hattie Shivers Morris. She was married Nov. 1, 1951, in Harrison, Ark., to William A. Clark, who died Sept. 18, 1981.

A lifelong resident of Camden County, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include: one brother, Jim Morris, Linn Creek; two half brothers, Willard Morris, Montreal, and Charles "Bud" Morris, Roach; one sister, Donnie Platter, Camdenton; three half sisters, Grace Terry, Estelle Smith Galloway, and Elizabeth Nicks, all of Camdenton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

DUNCAN

Raymond Duncan, 81, Richland, died Feb. 15, 2000, in Brumley.

He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Iberia, a son of Stella Keeth. He was married June 19, 1943, in Eureka, to Opal Marie Akers, who died Sept. 12, 1983. He was married March 20, 1987, in Richland, to Emma Burke, who died Dec. 26, 1991.

He worked at Ozark Fisheries in Stoutland until retiring in 1983. He attended Grace Baptist Church and Freewill Baptist Church, both in Richland.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerry Duncan, Pacific, and Richard Duncan, Versailles; two daughters, Janet Wyatt, Great Falls, Mont., and Betty Davenport, Brumley; three brothers, Oleph Duncan and Don Duncan, both of Brumley, and Tennyson Duncan, Eldon; one stepbrother, Noel Duncan, Pacific; one sister, Juanita Wall, Crocker; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Burial will be in Mount Union Cemetery near Brumley.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

HASELHORST

Anton F. Haselhorst, 76, Taos, died Feb. 15, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Folk, a son of Frank and Mary Boeckman Haselhorst. He was married March 28, 1951, in Westphalia, to Agatha Fechtel, who survives at the home.

He attended schools in the Folk area and was a farmer in the Taos and Linn areas. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Sharon Haselhorst, Kansas City, and Ruth Fisher, Wardsville; two sons, Frank Haselhorst and John Haselhorst, both of Taos; one brother, August Haselhorst,  Jefferson City; five sisters, Mathilda Wilbers, Loose Creek, Clara Schmidt, St. Thomas, Emma Carter and Margaret Prenger, both of  Jefferson City, and Loreen Volmert, Folk; and two grandchildren.

One son, Elmer Haselhorst, died Aug. 6, 1998.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Taos, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Our Parish-Our Future Fund at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to Masses.

LEE

Martha L. Lee, 89, Eldon, died Feb. 14, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Jan. 18, 1911, in Capps, a daughter of John and Alice Humphrey Birdsong.

A lifelong resident of Miller County, she worked for Glaser Brothers Pant Factory until her retirement. She was a member of Humphrey's Creek Christian Church and Amalgamated Clothing Union.

Survivors include: three daughters, Esther Lee, Granite City, Ill., Pauline Bevelot, Eldon, and Shirley Keeth, Kansas City; one son, Edgar Lee, Tuscumbia; one brother, George Birdsong, Granite City; one sister, Flossie Clark, Tuscumbia; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Capps Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

McCANN

Services were today for Judith Kristin Dunnaway McCann, 50, Katy, Texas , formerly of California, who died Feb. 13, 2000, at her home.

She was born May 19, 1949, in California, a daughter of J.L. and Leanna Moser Dunnaway. Her parents survive in California. She was married June 5, 1971, to Terry McCann, who survives at the home.

She was a 1967 graduate of California High School and a 1969 graduate of  Jefferson City School of Practical Nursing. She worked for the Postal Service in Katy for 14 years.

She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Katy.

Other survivors include: two sons, Jason Andrew McCann, Houston, Texas , and Nicholas Ryan McCann, College Station, Texas ; one daughter, Jessica Layne McCann, of the home; and one brother, Norris "Skip" Dunnaway,  Jefferson City.

Services were held in Katy. Burial will be at a later date in Annunciation Catholic Church Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Judy Allee, Memorial Chairman-Moniteau Unit, P.O. Box 333, Latham, Mo. 65050; or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63131-3597.

STREMEL

Rose Anna Stremel, 53, Houston, Texas , formerly of  Jefferson City, died Jan. 24, 2000.

She was born May 4, 1946, in Beloit, Kan., a daughter of Hubert and Dorothy Pauley. Her mother survives in Harrisburg, Pa. She was married to Gary Robert Stremel, who survives at the home.

She was a graduate of Lincoln University and the University of Missouri Dental School, Kansas City. She practiced dentistry in  Jefferson City before moving to Houston, where she was active in Clear Lake, Texas , volunteer programs.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Gina Overshiner, St. Louis; two sisters, Linda Synder, Chambersburg, Pa., and Pamela Baughman, Dallas, Texas ; three brothers, Jon Pauley, Shippensburg, Pa., Jeffrey Pauley, Noxon, Pa., and Ted Pauley, Middletown, Pa.; and one grandson.

Memorials are suggested to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition, Attn: Julie Dunn, 16501 Sherman Way Ave., No. 110, Van Nuys, Calif. 91406, or e-mail at www.nccc-online.org, in memory of Rose Anna Stremel.

Arrangements were under the direction of Jack Rowe Funeral Home, League City, Texas .

FINN

Barry Finn, 40, Vienna, died Feb. 14, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Jan. 23, 1960, in Harvey, Ill., a son of Charles H. Sr. and Virginia Mortensen Finn, who survive in Oak Forest, Ill. He was married Oct. 17, 1987, in Lansing, Ill., to Patricia Ann Sweeney, who survives at the home.

A self-employed carpenter, he was a member of the Carpenters Union in Chicago. He also was a member of the Vienna Saddle Club.

Other survivors include: one son, Garrett David Finn, of the home; two daughters, Meghan Elizabeth Finn and Emily Virginia Finn, both of the home; and two brothers, Charles H. Finn Jr., New Lenox, Ill., and Jeffery Finn, Homewood, Ill.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna. The Rev. John Schmitz will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be from 8-9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Leukemia Society.
