NEWMAN

Kenneth C. "Pete" Newman, 83, Eldon, died March 8, 2000, at Eldon Healthcare.

He was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Linn, a son of Charles and Mary Etta Potter Newman. He was married June 27, 1937, to Sophie Bogdanovich, who survives at the home.

He was a chief deputy sheriff at the Miller County Sheriffs Department for 11 years, and belonged to the Missouri Sheriffs Association. He owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Ranch, Pennsburg, Pa.

He was on the board of the Moreau Fire District for several years.

Other survivors include: one son, Kenie M. Newman, Maitland, Fla.; one daughter, Maryeva Stevenson, Eldon; two sisters, Birdie Kuder, Corydon, Iowa, and Mary Sopher, Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Barry Hoskins will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

PATTERSON-STONE

Helen Roberta Patterson-Stone, 62, Marys Home, died March 6, 2000, at her home.

She was born July 3, 1937, in San Francisco, a daughter of Edmund W. and Margaret Mary Flaherty Grosch.

She worked in purchasing at Lincoln University, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include: one son, Frank T. Patterson, Santa Rosa, Calif.; three daughters, Marion Welsh, West Point, Ind., Diane Jaeger, Syracuse, Utah, and Wanda Allen, Marys Home; two brothers, Tom Grosch, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Ed Grosch, Placerville, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

No services are planned. The remains will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.

SCOTT

Garnett Scott, 80, Eldon, died March 8, 2000, at Lake Ozark Retirement Center, Lake Ozark.

She was born July 12, 1919, in Oberlin, Kan., a daughter of John and Rae Coleman Clawson. She was married Oct. 20, 1938, in Oberlin, to Howard A. Scott, who survives in Eldon.

She co-owned and co-operated Scott Gas for more than 50 years. She was a member of First Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Eldon Country Club.

Other survivors include: two sons, H. Wayne Scott and Myron D. Scott, both of Eldon; one brother, Donald Clawson, Sedalia; one sister, Thelma Spiers, Oberlin; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.

SHIVELY

Edward P. Shively, 68,  Jefferson City, died March 8, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Smith County, Kan., a son of Pearl C. and Eva McArthur Shively. He was married Sept. 20, 1951, in Russellville, to Ruby L. Weber, who survives at the home.

He was a 1950 graduate of Russellville High School and a 1959 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Business. He worked for the Bemis Bag Company from 1959 to 1960 and for the Missouri Highway Department from 1960 until his retirement in 1995 as building and grounds maintenance engineer. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church. He was a director of the Irwin Sunday School Class and was a co-chairman of the Caring Hands Ministries Program. He was a member of the properties committee, Gideons, American Legion and United Commercial Travelers of America.

He had served with the Cole County Sheriff's Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the Handymans Club of America.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Deborah L. Bledsoe,  Jefferson City, and Diane L. Vaughan, St. Louis; one son, Mark E. Shively, California; one brother, John Shively, Columbia; two sisters, Alma J. Nelson, Pickney, Mich., and Linda Turnbull, Holts Summit; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Phelps will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.

WILSON

Grant E. Wilson, 99, Iberia, died March 9, 2000, at Osage Beach Healthcare Center, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 10, 1900, near Iberia, a son of Everett G. and Emma Sharlotte Gardner Wilson. He was married May 4, 1941, in St. Charles, to Delphia Humphrey, who survives at the home.

He worked as a welder for Granite City Steel, and retired from the Granite City Street Department in 1965. He was a member of Iberia First Christian Church.

Other survivors include one son, Richard Grant Wilson, San Diego, Calif., seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Walter Wilson and William Everett Wilson, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Iberia First Christian Church or Iberia Cemetery.

OLSON

The Rev. N.W. "Jim" Olson, 49, Linn, died March 8, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1950, in Willmar, Minn., a son of Norman J. and Waldeen Heggeseth Olson. He was married Dec. 26, 1971, in Shelby, N.C., to Judy Carol Morgan, who survives at the home.

He was a Marine Corps veteran. A resident of Linn for the past four years, he was pastor and member of Liberty Bible Baptist Church, Linn.

He owned Liberty Accounting and Tax Service (formerly Lineberry Accounting).

Other survivors include: one son, David Olson, of the home; one daughter, Diana Olson, of the home; and one sister, Diane Kludt, Del Rapids, S.D.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Liberty Bible Baptist Church. James Krueger and Les Lipskoch will officiate. Burial will be in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn.

Memorials are suggested to the Olson Family Memorial Fund.

BRIGGS

Services were Thursday for Lowell H. Briggs, 89, Camdenton, who died March 8, 2000, at Christian Health Care North, Lebanon.

He was born Dec. 6, 1910, in Bedford, Iowa, a son of Todd and Pearl Fiddler Briggs. He was married Aug. 13, 1931, in Taylor County, Iowa, to Mabel Hulse, who died Sept. 7, 1995.

A farmer, he lived in the Lake area the past seven years.

Survivors include: one son, Ronald Briggs, state of Wisconsin; two daughters, Ruby Patton, Linn Creek, and Violet Dowler, Bentonville, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton.

Arrangements were under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.

SHADRICK

Stella M. Shadrick, 68, Linn Creek, died March 8, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Eldridge, a daughter of William and Mable Moore Rogers. Her mother survives in Linn Creek. She was married Aug. 25, 1947, in Ira, to Owen Ray Shadrick, who survives at the home.

She lived in LeClaire, Iowa, before returning to the Lake area 13 years ago. A homemaker, she was a member of Osage Beach First Assembly of God Church.

Other survivors include: four sons, Michael Shadrick, Columbia, Tenn., and David Shadrick, Jerry Shadrick and Thomas Shadrick, all of Linn Creek; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. John Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Ira Cemetery, Eldridge.

Memorials are suggested to First Assembly of God Church, 4455 Church Street, Osage Beach, Mo. 65065.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.

SHEPHERD

Roger Dean Shepherd, 65, Bruner, died March 4, 2000, at Riverview Manor Residential Place, Ozark.

He was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Eldon, a son of William C. and Pearl Winnop Shepherd.

A graduate of Eldon High School, he attended the University of Missouri and the University of California at Kentfield. He was an Army veteran. He worked for Missouri Utilities from 1967 to 1976. He worked in newspaper advertising sales until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of First Christian Church, Eldon.

Survivors include: four sons, Mark Shepherd, Cibilo, Texas , Gregory Shepherd, St. Louis, John Shepherd, Long Beach, Calif., and Scott Shepherd, Holts Summit; one daughter, Gayle Schoonover, Des Peres; two brothers, Kenneth Shepherd, Lakeland, Texas , and Keith Shepherd, Arvada, Colo.; one sister, Dorothy Nathan, Big Sandy, Texas ; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. April 1 in Eldon City Cemetery. The Rev. Walter Simpson will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

WILLIAMS

Harry Woolery Williams, 82, Osage Beach, died March 8, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born March 17, 1917, in Aurora, Neb., a son of Ed and Jenny Woolery Williams. He was married June 16, 1940, in Haddam, Kan., to Winifred Hyland, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a manager for an insurance company.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard Williams and Jack Williams, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be at a later date. The body was cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
